Can't fit into mine any more

kittykitt · 24/04/2007 10:15

Nothing very exciting I'm an Account Manager for a Publishing Company, and today am going to meet some headteachers who hopefully will be buying lots of our Maths Software for schools in Lincolnshire. Headteachers are still scary even when you're not at school any more!

kittykitt · 24/04/2007 10:16

Oooh, and i live in Nottingham

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 10:18

Morning chicks! Daisy I'm so glad you are ok, if a little sore! Sounds like things are calming down, hope your contractions stop soon!

I have been awake on and off since 4 and I feel like a big pile of shit! Dp was snoring and usually I'd go and sleep in the spare room, but seeing as the beds are prob still wet from the weeing at the weekend I didn't really fancy it! So I slept on the sofa and didn't really sleep at all. Dd then decided to wake up at 6 ! I have put cbeebies on and am just lying on the sofa getting some snoozing in! Dd shall be having an early nap before lunch and I am going back to bed!

Totally different job to me then!

Right. Speaking of which.... I'm going to venture out of the house - in my make-shift work outfit - looking like a tramp and making about as much sense as a drunk tramp, and attempt to get some work done!

Catch up later!

(ergh - Headteachers......shudder....Poor Kittykitt!)

kittykitt · 24/04/2007 10:30

DKMAFME, you just made me laughth with that image of you leaving the house tramp-like.
I too am now going to do some work - can't believe it's 10.30!!

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 10:43

Lol at your trampiness dkma!! I am pretty much the biggest tramp. Am sat here in my pjs with a blanket wrapped round me and my dd is still in her dressing gown!

Some people are so dumb! Those I'm not a plastic bag bags are still going for £70 on ebay! Do people not know they can go to Sainsburys and get one for £5 tomorrow? Durh!! I'm so excited about getting one!

Morning all, so glad your contractions have calmed down Daisy, have you been told to lie down or just rest generally, and how long for? Hopefully you won't have to rest completely for too long.

I've been at it 10 days now and it's very boring and frustrating, but luckily I have the laptop and internet (and you lot), don't know where I'd be without that. You have to let go and let other people do things.

I'm at MIL's again, just 2 days this time as DH has ruled that 3 days was too much for her, to which I replied with a heartfelt "it's too much for me too". DD will be spending the mornings and having lunch at her new nursery at SIL's work, which she loves. DH will be getting 1 day a week to work at home so things are working out. I'm 31 weeks so just really have to hang on another 2 or 3 weeks before it becomes less of a worry. I'm seeing the gynae in 2 weeks and hopefully she'll give me the all clear for some light activity.

sputnik · 24/04/2007 11:14

Lovely to hear about more shower stuff coming through I have a whoozit too, they are fab (they were even in Sex in the City IIRC)

BadZelda · 24/04/2007 11:16

Hello you lot

God I can't believe how chatty you all are - been away to visit my grandmother in Wales since Friday, and it took me nearly 3 hours just to read all your messages last night!

Wish it was easier to comment mid-thread...by the time I get to the end I've half forgotten all the things I wanted to say....here's some of them anyway. H&A - sorry to hear about all you have to deal with - it sounds like a bit of a nightmare, and I think Marylou's advice is good: you need to get a handle on it before the baby arrives or life will be even more of a nightmare. Daisybump...glad you're feeling a bit better...here's some calming lovely relaxing vibes coming your way from Brixton. R.e. Tens: I used it with baby 1, and found it really good - but then did cope with labour by walking approximately 5 miles, so it was practical for me. Probably if you're going to be spending all your time in a birthing pool, then it wouldn't be quite so useful. I got lucky and picked one up for a fiver in a charity shop recently, but you can hire them for about 20 quid if you don't want to buy one? They are supposed to be good for backache and treating afterpains for second time mums...
R.e. dodgy ante-natal care - I really feel for you. I've seen 4 different midwives and have a GP who couldn't even be bothered to check up on my referral for a home birth, so it took me several months to find out I wasn't actually booked in with anyone. Am scheduled for one more appt. this pregnancy at 38 weeks (am 32 now) which is apparently completely standard for Lambeth. Ironically I got so stressed out waiting over an hour for my last (5 minute) midwife appointment that my blood pressure actually climbed several points and she made me go to the hospital and have BP and bloods checked...adding another 2 hours to the process and completely wiping out my one free afternoon of the week. Every contact I have with ante-natal services makes me want to avoid having anything further to do with them! Fingers crossed that the pregnancy remains trouble free and I can just quietly have the baby at home.

R.e. Breast pumps: I used an avent manual last time and got really f off with spending hours squeezing that little plastic handle....gives you cramp in your hand after a while. I've invested in one of these this time: avent isis uno - a friend has one and swears by it, as it basically works out your natural pumping rhythm and then replicates it.

Phew! Sorry for length of post - I blame all you ladies and your chattiness ;)

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 11:17

Morning sputnik! that you are bored and lonely, hopefully you'll be up and about soon. Hope MIL is not feeding you poison rice again!

Am waiting for the Teletubbies to finish then dd shall be going for her nap and so shall I! I'm trying to keep myself awake by mucking about on the pc! Have just phoned Sainsburys to make sure they are selling the bags. The smaller locals have 30 bags each, but the big superstore has 180! SO I should be able to get a couple at least!

OP posts:
sputnik · 24/04/2007 11:17

Maybe I should've said DD has a whoozit

BrownSuga · 24/04/2007 11:17

bloomin heck, i started trying to catch up on all the goings on's and lasted until Sat night! such a lot going on.

Hope you are all enjoying spa's and cleaners, preparing things for babies, and not letting dsk's get you down too much.

Thankfully, my MIL is the most excellent MIL and cleans for us each week, the FIL does the dishes (!) and they pick up the dog for dogsitting while we're at work each day. Couldn't ask for better ones. They want me to rush back to work after LB arrives so they can take that on as well.

Took a duvet day yesterday, so that's another day to catch up with too. 13 days of work left, can't really handle it, but must persist, just think of all the baby stuff it's paying for!

Ran into DH's exW on the weekend, and she chatted away to me as if we were old best buddies, haven't had a conversation with her in the 3 years I've been with DH, and in fact didn't even recognise her when she came over. Surreal.

sputnik · 24/04/2007 11:20

Hi H&A, not lonely as such, luckily I don't mind my own company or a book, otherwise I really would go crazy. Hopefully we're having salad for lunch

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 11:21

Morning BZ too!! The NHS is a pile of crap isn't it?! I haven't had any bloods done for my whole pregnancy as I have to go to hospital to get them done as they don't do them at my surgery !! I don't drive and the hospital is miles away and obviously dp works full time. I'll have to go this week sometime otherwise they won't let me have a homebirth! It's such a pain in the arse!

Re tens machines, didn't use one in labour but when I had physiotherapy last year for back pain the physio used it along with massage. He also mentioned it's good for fluid retention.
Not looking forward to those afterpains, they're meant to be worse second time around aren't they?

sleepychunky · 24/04/2007 11:36

DKMAFME - yep, this is my first. I too have absolutely no motivation and am just counting down the days until I can stop. I do love my job but I'm just so focussed on June that I'm finding it really hard to think about anything work-related [hmmm]

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 12:10

Hello again....yipee...not having pain anymore . Still getting tightenings but they're only about one every 10-15 mins (were happening every 4-5 mins) and are now painless.....now just a bit sore from the brutal assualt with speculum administerede by the MW (sorry if that's TMI , but I suppose we better get used to it from here on in).

DH still has me banished to the sofa, and has been screening my calls (work have been looking for me so he told them I'm resting and not to be disturbed ) and he's just about to take me out in the car in my PJs for a big mac for lunch.....bet that beats your trampiness DKMA...or am I more trash than tramp?

derlor · 24/04/2007 12:15

hello chickabees,
well like you Holly i've been awake on and off since 0353 precisely!!! i seem to sleep well for one night then crap for 2 or 3 then well for one again and so it goes on...... preparation for the LO arriving i suppose but still crap!!
i was doing my last hour and a half of parent helping at DS school this morning - nightmare!! thank GOD i'm NOT a teacher. the following would get me shot on an AIBU thread but i'll tell you lot anyway and take my chances.. i had a group of 4 children (all 7 and 8 year olds) we were doing sums - not too stressful you would think WELL>>>>>> here is an example 700-1 was the sum the answer? "ehhhhhhh 542!!" WTF?? then 801+1 "ehhhhh 919!!" WTF again......it went on like that for the whole 1.5 hours JESUS! i'm no maths genious but come on talk about frustrating, no wonder the teachr gave them to me she must really struggle with them!! i know, i know i should be more understanding but i've been up since 0353, am 7.5 months pg and had fanjo pain the whole time!!!!!
sorry rant over.....
about after pains - i never got them with either of my pg's fingers crossed i escape again this time.

derlor · 24/04/2007 12:17

hey Daisy you can take the girl out of Scotland.......... you are secretly a harthill chick - get some bucky while you are out!!

riabutterflew · 24/04/2007 12:17

Glad things are looking up all round.

I wish DH would take me out for McDs - PJs or not.

I am feeling ridiculously weepy and unmotivated re housework today, and DS2 has just shovelled most of my sweetpea bed into a bucket.

On a lighter note my DF has just made two trips to the tip with the rubbish DH cleared out of our garage yesterday, and he has a zafira! Why do we keep things "just in case it might be useful"? It was all crap for goodness sake. (I have even thrown away all the fluff from the tumble drier - which I can start collecting again because I can get to that bit of the garage to use it!!!

Sorry, am wittering rubbish too. Must go and finish the kitchen shelves. Have a good afternoon all.

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 12:18

I'd be worse than you Derlor...I get really frustrated when DS can't do his homework...I'm like "what bit of the letter 'V' don't you understand?" with veins popping in my neck and he's not even 5 yet . Teaching defo not my forte....

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 12:19

Nah Derlor...I'm going for the mad-dog if there's a portion of fruit in it to be had....

riabutterflew · 24/04/2007 12:22

Funny thing is I would love to be a teacher and am thinking of training when the kids are older, but I just CAN'T help DS1 with his work at all. I get so cross because he doesn't do it properly. I actually have suspicions that he is dyslexic (as I believe DH is) but the school claim to have checked him and say it's laziness.

Maybe boys don't enjoy reading and writing in the same way girls do? He is a whizz at maths and that's embarrassing because I AM NOT!!!

Must go now, DS2 has finished looking for worms in the garden and wants feeding!
