I'm team pink @ClaireBear1986. So pleased because I already have a very active 3 yr old boy.

ClaireBear1986 · 29/12/2017 12:39

One of each, how lovely @MixxyT :)
That's fab news so congrats.

When in April are you due?

MixxyT · 29/12/2017 12:55

I'm due April 20. How about yourself?

boatrace30 · 29/12/2017 19:03

Sorry to hear everyone is having such difficult second trimesters. I feel lucky that since a bout of illness 20-23 weeks I've been feeling quite fine. Bump definitely growing though.
I always thought it was 28weeks.

As for NYE, off to Manchester at the moment to see friends. Toddler asleep in the back. Travelling at night so much easier when they are little!

Jeds55 · 30/12/2017 09:10

Hahaha MrsDish that meme is also very apt for me - anyone else notice they have a hairier than usual belly?! Have been fine in this second trimester but starting to feel it now - all of a sudden my belly looks pretty big. I too have been employing "the groan" Harriett . 27 weeks tomorrow and skin pimply and hair greasy here too

Jeds55 · 30/12/2017 09:12

Welcome MixxyT

Testar0ssa · 30/12/2017 14:51

I've just had a nap when the toddler napped-it was amazing!
Been entertaining every night since Christmas Eve, and so have had later nights than I've got used to.
Bump seems suddenly enormous.
My hair has gone the other way-i can now go a week (please don't judge) without washing it.

waves to the newbies

MixxyT · 30/12/2017 20:52

Thanks Jed!

Happy new year ladies.

MrsDishavingaB · 31/12/2017 22:32

Happy New Year everyone! 🎊🎉

Jeds55 · 01/01/2018 08:28

Happy New Year all. The year in which our babies will be born, still sounds weird to say that!

olicat · 02/01/2018 07:46

Happy new year! Hope you all enjoyed the holidays. Gutted to go back to work today, not looking forward to the commute! I'm the other hand, countdown to mat leave is on, 11 weeks and 1 days to go! 😁

olicat · 02/01/2018 07:46

Bloody autocorrect. ON the other hand

ClaireBear1986 · 02/01/2018 08:20

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!

Hope you all had a great evening. I've had a pretty tough few days, so for the 1st time ever I am really pleased to be back at work. Think my colleagues think I have lost the plot. Ha ha.

I am due the day before you @MixxyT, 19th April :)

MrsDishavingaB · 02/01/2018 10:34

I was supposed to be back at work today but instead I'm sat here in the hospital doing my Glucose Tolerance Test. My god it's so boring being sat in the waiting room for 2 hours!! Watching all the other women being able to come and go is just torture lol

Has anyone else got to do this test?

I can tell you the drink isn't that horrific as some people make out, it's kind of like drinking a cup of Lucozade

DaisyLand · 02/01/2018 10:38

Happy new year!
I might need to get it done, got a +1 in the urine in my 25w appoitment and i was told if it get it again in the 28w one then i'll need to get it done...

Hope you get good results back @MrsDishavingaB

Testar0ssa · 02/01/2018 10:40

Got mine tomorrow MrsD , along with 28 week bloods and more BP monitoring (mine was rather up over Christmas)

good luck - can't remember how we get results (ie whether it's instant or not)

rosegarden45 · 02/01/2018 10:44

Hi All, new to the group. I had the insulin tolerance test a few weeks ago. I hated it. Who thought it a good idea to starve a pregnant woman?!
It all came back clear but then I got a letter inviting me to do it again in January....erm.no! I'm finding second trimester painful. My hips, back and abdomen hurt and I feel really heavy. On Christmas day my mother told me I looked like a beached whale... thanks for that 🙈 although I'm terrified about the responsibility of what April brings I want it to hurry along because I'm already so uncomfortable!

rosegarden45 · 02/01/2018 10:47

Has anyone attended NCT classes? Just wondering if they are worth the money? I'm not sure it's really for me but if people highly recommend it then I'll give it a go

MrsDishavingaB · 02/01/2018 10:55

I was told results by this evening/tomorrow and if I don't hear anything then I'm all good.
I can only assume it was a male idea to starve pregnant women for 14 hours.

@rosegarden45 I've heard good things about NCT but left it a little too late to book and now all the ones before my due date are fully booked.

rosegarden45 · 02/01/2018 11:03

NCT fully booked already? I hadn't even thought about that. I've made an enquiry about a local one so hopefully I'll hear back soon. If I don't get on the course then I'm not that bothered. I quite like finding stuff out as I go along anyway.
I'm not prepared for anything yet. Have you all been baby shopping for equipment etc? I don't even know where to start. I thought I'd leave it all until after the birth but I know there are a couple of things I'll need prior to arrival.
People keep asking me when I'm stopping work etc. I haven't even thought that far ahead yet. It still feels like something that is not really going to happen!

I didn't hear anything from the hospital about my glucose test so I rang a few days later and it was all clear. You'll enjoy your lunch when they finally let you out!

ClaireBear1986 · 02/01/2018 11:19

I booked the NCT classes at the beginning of November but they only had availability on their March courses left so I can't give a verdict on them yet.
I have heard very mixed reviews, but overall I got the feeling that they would be useful for me. Fingers crossed.
I have also booked pregnancy yoga through Daisy Birthing as well, which starts this month. So hopefully that will be worth it too.
Does anyone know where sells reasonably prices maternity workout leggings and tops?

Aspenn17 · 02/01/2018 11:30

I've signed up to NCT as it's an easy way to make friends with people who's babies will be the same age as mine.

Does everyone have a 25 wk appointment? My next midwife appointment isn't until 30th when I will be 29 weeks?? Do you think the midwife has made a mistake and I should give them a call?

mmai · 02/01/2018 11:34

I have a midwife appt next week which is 26 weeks but tbh not sure what she is going to do. I think it depends on midwife but any concerns definitely call them earlier
I usually just buy normal maternity leggings for work outs (trying to save money) rather than specific work out ones but if you have the money to splash out why not :-)

FairfaxAikman · 02/01/2018 11:38

My next one isn't till 28 weeks. Also have to book a glucose tolerance test for that date.

DaisyLand · 02/01/2018 11:45

@Aspenn17 is it your 1st or 2nd? In my trust and i think NHS in general they only check you in 25w if it's your 1st baby.

Quite a few of us are going thruough the Glucose nightmare! I'm in spain at the moment and the xmas season is still going on til end of this week , with loads of sweets around... it's difficult to stay strong and say NO. i've to say i've given up on the hope this week and i'll try the next week to be stronger when i'm back in the UK :)I've week and a half sugar detox!

@mmai my 25w was last week, they measured the bump and also i requested to hear the hb, she said they dont do til 36! but they'd do for me. also check urine for iron/gloucse problems and not much more.
