@Aspenn17 I'd love to get a snuzpod or maybe the TuttiBambi CoZee but I just don't have the room in my bedroom.
Personally I think the TuttiBambini is prettier than the chicco next 2 me and the SnuzPod has rave reviews - I also like the fact that the SnuzPod rocks. I'm however having to settle on a Moses basket and rocker stand until he grows out of it.

@LivLemler how was the 25 week check with the gp? Did they say anything of significance other than insult your bump? Any blood tests or anything? Do you know what you're having? I've heard that boys tend to pee more so you have a bigger bump due to more water! Don't be too scared about it yet ☺️

LivLemler · 20/12/2017 12:11

MrsD - it was very similar to my 16 week check, just with more attention paid to examining the bump. BP, urine check, weight, whooping cough vaccine, fetal heart rate. She did a quick fundal height measure but didn't seem to be too worried about that. Back at 30 weeks.

I don't know what I'm having, but I think it's a boy. Measurements at 20 week scan were all big and they brought my due date forward by 8 days, so I think it's a tall boy who takes after DH.

boatrace30 · 20/12/2017 14:11

We had the chicco next2me last time and I love it! It's also fantastic for any travelling you do and lasts easily till six month when we put dd in her own room in a cot.

MrsDneedsaB · 20/12/2017 14:35

Thanks @LivLemler I couldn't get a GP appointment in time so just making sure I'm not missing anything huge!

I've just been to Mothercare and it's soooooo hard not to just buy up the whole shop!! I went for a sleepyhead cover as mine has a lovely sweaty head patch from my nephew but sadly they didn't have any. Now I'm seriously debating a beside crib 😂😂 I know I have no room but trying to figure out how I can work around that haha

LivLemler · 20/12/2017 16:32

Ooh I'm raging. Nursery furniture to arrive today, ordered from mothercare who specified that the delivery drivers would bring it to any room. It also clearly states that on the website, in about three different places. Drivers showed up and said they're not insured to go upstairs so it's all just been left on the kitchen floor. Rang delivery company to complain as soon as they left. They're sending the drivers back, but now I'm going to be late for some plans with friends. I'd told them I'd only be available til 4 today, I could've done another day, but they said that'd be fine. Argh. Angry

MrsDneedsaB · 20/12/2017 16:44

Oh nooo how frustrating!! I'd be bloody livid too! Blooming delivery drivers always use the "not insured" quote as a get out of jail free card.

This must be a day of inconveniences as this morning I get woken up by a knock on the door by a plumber carrying a toilet and after clocking my dressing gown, bed head and bleary face the first thing he says is "the buggers never told you I was coming did they?" Our toilet has been broken 3 months and we were supposed to be told when a plumber was due to make sure someone was home. They were just damn lucky I'm on holiday this week!

JammyC · 20/12/2017 16:53

Hello all! I've been rubbish at posting on these threads but have been reading them and posting now and again on the facebook group.

Had my 20wk scan today (must be the last one!) and we are team yellow again. Can't remember who said it up thread but with DD I was convinced we were having a boy and on the day she arrived I was momentarily sad she was a girl but then instantly fell in love. I have a feeling this time we are having another girl which would be awesome but I think DH is a little disappointed at the prospect.

I'm still debating when to stop work. If I stop at the Easter bank holiday I'll be just under 36wks. I'm so exhausted this time - more stressful job plus a headstrong 3.5yr old!

Someone else was worried about a breech baby (sorry I'm rubbish at keeping up!). DD1 was breech. We had an ECV which failed and then an ELCS at 39+1. It was honestly a dreamy experience, much like booking in for a dental procedure or something. No panic, all calm and lots of people with risk assessments and plans. Felt very in control and managed which suited me to the ground. I guess what I'm saying is if you do end up with a breech baby towards the end, a CS is not necessarily the end of the world! This baby is presenting breech at the moment so I'm wondering whether it'll move in time. I hope it will, but equally know that if it doesn't I know what's coming.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 20/12/2017 17:04

Ooh it’s exciting to hear some of us are getting the nursery organised!!

I’m a full house re wire and almost full house re plaster before we can start the nursery but hopefully it will be done for the end of February

I am basically bursting out of my maternity bras I got 😢
Need to make an stop at the shops tonight as I could cry at how much this one is digging in today

harrietm87 · 20/12/2017 20:48

@Whymustyoubringinthebirds I had the house rewired recently - feel your pain! The dust!

End of feb is our target date to finish too - here's hoping!

I'm going to a John Lewis nursery appointment tomorrow - has anyone done this? You book it for free on their website and they take you round and explain what products you might want/need, no obligation to buy anything, and free tea and cake - I'm looking forward to it!

Aspenn17 · 20/12/2017 20:57

Thanks @LivLemler, going to be cutting it fine for April but fingers crossed!

@harrietm87, a few things the same as MrsD mentioned, I like the fact it rocks. Also in general I think it looks a bit nicer, I like the fact the bassinet bit lifts off. My best friend has the Chicco though and loves it so I'm sure it's just as good, just personal preference I guess!

I've had what feels like stitch for the past 3 days it's so annoying. Also does anyone know what counts as 'reduced movement' ? I'm still feeling a decent amount of kicks per day so I'm not worried but just doesn't seem quite as much as last week?

boatrace30 · 21/12/2017 07:49

@Aspenn17 - I had the stitch pain last week, it lasted about a week. I happened to have a Midwife appt and she said it was normal. It's basically ligaments stretching.
My bump got visibly bigger over the course of the week!

Sam91TRS15 · 21/12/2017 10:32

Aspenn, I was worried about that too as one week the movement was almost constant and next I didn't get nearly as much. I would talk to your midwife if you are concerned but as long as you are still feeling movement regular enough I think they might just be having some rest before the next growth spurt?
Whymust, I am just wearing sports bras, so much easier. Anything with cups and my boobs just fall out, no matter the size of the bra!
If anyone is interested, mother care has there sale preview on today only if you are signed up with them. Doesn't have the sale prices but you can see if what you want is going on sale with them!

MissYeti · 21/12/2017 15:02

Thanks for the mothercare heads up! Wasnt going to buy the Silvercross Chelsea carseat (wanted to get the graco milestone as it's cost effective) but had a look at the sale and its already up with free car seat! I may have just made my first big baby purchase 😱😱

MissYeti · 21/12/2017 15:04

Should say that the pushchair and changing bag bundle is up with the free car seat...got a bit excited and realised after that my post didnt make all that much sense 😂

PinkAvocado · 21/12/2017 16:45

Hi. I’ve had a mumsnet break but am back and would like to hop on here please. I’m due 16th April. Smile

Aspenn17 · 21/12/2017 18:57

Hi @pinkavocado! I'm due the day after you. How have you been getting on so far?

Thanks boatrace, reassuring that hopefully it will ware off soon! And thanks @sam it's just hard to know what's normal isn't it! Felt her move lots today though so feeling more chilled. :)

Also we went to mothercare today and I've changed my mind about the Snuzpod! Still really like them but the Tuti Cozee was so nice in real life and looked much bigger, so might go for that instead now!

PinkAvocado · 21/12/2017 19:01

Hi! Just in a whirlwind of anxiety about it all!

I have the snuzpod from my first child. He never slept in it-expensive piece of decorative furniture Grin

harrietm87 · 22/12/2017 00:34

Had my John Lewis appt today - was great but quite overwhelming!

Think we'll go for chicco over snuzpod because I liked that it was a bit bigger and had softer sides. Haven't seen the tutti bambini yet though so may need to check that out.

Interestingly he said they no longer recommend putting sleepyheads inside cots/cribs - has anyone else heard this? I thought that's what they were for!

boatrace30 · 22/12/2017 07:24

@harrietm87 - I had read that about sleepyheads. I think there were some cases of SIDS in the USA linked to them.
So the official recommendation is baby on back in an empty cot/crib.
I never felt the need for one anyway. A very expensive cushion in my opinion!!

NickMyLipple · 22/12/2017 07:39

The sleepyheads don't fit into the category of a baby sleep positioner and have not been withdrawn from sale or had any advice warnings against them - I'll still be using mine!

MrsDneedsaB · 22/12/2017 10:01

I'm definitely going to be using mine! It was the only thing that made my nephews sleep more than 20 minutes without being held!
They've been safely used in Sweden for years and years...there were 12 deaths in the US (most likely due to improper use) of different style sleeping aids and now they're banned everywhere. It amazes me they can ban these things but guns are just fine lol.

I think it's mainly the actual positioners that don't actually allow baby to move their heads, what if baby were to be sick in the night 😱

The sleepyhead is too big to fit in a snuzpod or co-sleeper anyway I think, they're amazing for nap times on the sofa though!! 👍🏼

harrietm87 · 22/12/2017 10:54

@MrsDneedsaB it does just about fit in a snuzpod and is fine in a chicco - that's how all my friends have used it which is why I was surprised by the guy in John Lewis telling me otherwise!

A kind friend is lending me one and I was planning to use it as the downstairs bed when the baby is small (as well as in the cot) - maybe on the sofa? Does that work well?

MrsDishavingaB · 22/12/2017 11:00

Oh it does fit in a SnuzPod?! Maybe I just think the sleepyhead is bigger than it is haha

In our family we've used it on the sofa and footstool/pouffe thingies, so long as it's on a flat surface you're ok. Obviously when they're able to roll themselves over then I'd put it in sturdier places where they're less likely to fall on the floor 😳

MrsDishavingaB · 22/12/2017 11:07

Oh ladies sorry for the swift change in subject...I had something come up at the weekend that I thought was completely 😱😱

Have you ever heard of anyone using Miltons as sterile water for their babies? As in, making up the solution and feeding it to their baby because they thought that's what people meant by only feeding them sterile water??

My friends have a baby who is almost 1, they told me that they only just found out that they can give him tap water and we're glad because they didn't have to give him the sterile water as it "tasted like shit, poor kid" I gave them a quizzical look and they explained "oh you know cos it's made with that Miltons stuff" I was so shocked I didn't say anything as I didn't want them to feel stupid or worried that they'd harmed their baby, who is clearly fine and no harm done. But still 😱 I'm in total shock that someone actually thought you fed it to them!
