@MrsDishavingaB - what happens in the prep appointment? I'm having bloods taken at my gp on Saturday but nothing otherwise (nor last time).

They may well scan again when you go again. They did with me.

@Sunshinesaz86 - good luck tomorrow!!

MrsDishavingaB · 21/03/2018 21:29

@boatrace30 I guess no actual proper prep appointments, I just meant the stuff today was my prep - scan, Anaesthetist clinic, MRSA swabs and walk through of the days procedures and then on Monday have to go to pathology for bloods.
I can't really fault my hospital for how thorough they've been with me, very helpful and explain everything. Quite lucky it's a small hospital, have a feeling if I went to the Royal Berkshire my care wouldn't have been half as good!

Sunshinesaz86 · 22/03/2018 08:55

Thanks ladies! I arrived at 7 had obs/monitoring/sweep and first pessary is in place.......MW said cervix is quite favourable and baby’s head is low so now I wait.......😬😬

MrsDishavingaB · 22/03/2018 10:08

Eeeek good luck @Sunshinesaz86!!! Let's hope it's a quick one for you GrinThanks

boatrace30 · 22/03/2018 13:17

Gosh @MrsDishavingaB . Nothing like that at my hospital! I was given a leaflet and that's about it!!

@Sunshinesaz86 - hope all going well!

olicat · 22/03/2018 13:54

@sunshine exciting! Hope all is going well 😊

MrsDishavingaB · 22/03/2018 15:06

Sooo when do we know that Braxton Hicks aren't Braxton Hicks any more..? Been having them on and off all day since last night and feeling very icky sicky today, could it be the start of anything? I've not had a show yet or lost my waters but I am very uncomfortable 😣

olicat · 22/03/2018 18:50

Hmm @MrsD hard to tell - are they getting painful rather than uncomfortable? Might be worth giving triage a ring to see what they think if it keeps up, as obv if you're supposed to have a section they'll want to know. Hope they've eased off since you posted!

Sam91TRS15 · 22/03/2018 18:58

Hi ladies! I haven't been on this in a long while, lost my password and was busy finishing up my uni work but I am finally done and got round to getting back on here! I hope you are all doing well!
MrsD you sound similar to me today, my belly hurts and I feel regular BH at the top of my bump and have been for a while. I feel like I'm in limbo as I can't tell if this is the start of anything (I would have thought second time you would just know but apparently not...).
When are you due your c section?

MrsDishavingaB · 22/03/2018 19:10

They were still just Braxton Hicks lol they calmed down when I finally ate something decent. I was in that horrible catch 22 where you feel sick so don't want to eat but you are feeling sick because you haven't eaten.
They have calmed down now but they were definitely more uncomfortable than they have ever been, also they were more low down like period pains opposed to the usual tightenings at the top of my belly.
My section is booked for Wednesday Sam so hoping to hold out until then!

Sam91TRS15 · 22/03/2018 19:17

I'm glad they settled, you don't want to go into labour when they don't want you to! That's exciting! that's my due date. Really hoping he is here before then though..
How many weeks will you be?

MrsDishavingaB · 23/03/2018 10:05

@Sam91TRS15 I will be 39 weeks, my actual EDD is 4/4 but they wanted to get him out earlier. I'm really not minding now though as we've just been forecast more snow for Thursday and Friday! Ffs I jinxed it by saying the past few April's have been really warm lol

pinkflamingo121318 · 23/03/2018 11:41

I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow.. I have been walking A LOT because of school runs so haven't really been able to slow down.

I haven't been needing to wee all the time thankfully buuuut
Last 2 days; I've been SO tired that I've slept during the day.

Last night was hideous.
I went to sleep at 10, didn't take too long to drift off. I have many pillows in different positions to make me comfy.
I woke at 12 for a wee, couldn't get back to sleep until 3:30.
Got up twice during that time for another wee.
Between 4-5, I was waking up dizzy.
Then my children woke up at 6!

My mum took my children to school and when I went for a wee at 10, there was some of my plug on my pad.

I started losing the snot like bits with DS, 2-3 days before my waters broke with him.

I know you can lose it early and still go weeks before labour.. but it's hit Home that he will be here soon eeek

Had a growth scan today to check on the chunky monkey, update is she is still chunky! I’m 36+4 but measuring at 39 wks, her current estimated weight is 7lb 8. I have a consultants appt next week so I’m really hoping I go into labour naturally before they have chance to start talking about induction. Got a bit too much amniotic fluid so I’ve been told to go into hospital as soon as my waters break, no hanging around at home. Still clinging onto the hope of a natural MLU pool birth, but trying to prepare myself to go with the flow.

Hope all is going well @sunshine! Hope you manage to get some rest @pinkflamingo. Sounds like things are starting to get a bit closer for a lot of people! Also I’m officially on Mat leave now- yay!

Sunshinesaz86 · 24/03/2018 00:00

Hey ladies! Just thought I’d update you. After being induced at 7am yesterday morning niggled away throughout the day but nothing exciting happening, got checked at 8pm and pessary has slipped so moved back in place. Was able to rest and get some sleep. By 8am the next morning my contractions had started up again quite regular nor overly intense, they sent me over to delivery suite to break my waters at 11am now things went from 0-10000000 and our little girl was born in the pool (only just got it full) at 12.07pm (1 hr later) weighing 6lb 11!! I was so shocked I’m still getting my head around how intense and quick it went. But she’s doing great. Small tear but no stitches needed! Hoping to get home tomoro 😊x

Sam91TRS15 · 24/03/2018 08:22

Congrats sunshine!! I'm glad she is here safely and I hope you are getting as much rest now as you can with a newborn!

Well I thought something was starting last night, really bad cramps with contractions but it seems as though me and DP ate something dodgy instead so that sucks :( I'm glad I didn't call my mum to look after DD. So disappointed!

olicat · 24/03/2018 08:31

Well done @Sunshine, congratulations!

Argh annoying to have a false alarm @Sam, you're close to your due date right? I'm 4 weeks from mine so could potentially have 6 weeks left! (Bloody hope not)

Sam91TRS15 · 24/03/2018 08:42

Yeah I'm due on Wednesday so I was so disappointed this morning it had all gone away.. I know the thought of adding another two weeks on is awful! Absolutely nothing today though so back to being in limbo!

MrsDishavingaB · 24/03/2018 13:05

Congratulations on your little girl @Sunshinesaz86! Our first baby is here!!

@Sam91TRS15 sucks about the false start, have a feeling we'll be getting a good few of them in the next couple of weeks with a few of us coming up to our due dates!

@pinkflamingo121318 good signs with your news about starting to lose your plug, keep us updated.

So much is happening!

boatrace30 · 24/03/2018 20:24

Congratulations @Sunshinesaz86! Lovely news. Should be a steady stream of babies from now on I think.

pinkflamingo121318 · 24/03/2018 21:06

Eek congratulations @Sunshinesaz86

No more plug loss over here Sad

rosegarden45 · 25/03/2018 09:38

37 weeks today, eek!! Officially off work (annual leave prior to mat leave) so now I can relax 😊 I said months ago the baby would be born on the first day of spring, today the sun is shining, the clocks have changed, so maybe something will happen 😊

Regarding the midwife: I've spoken to friends and they all agree the treatment I have had is unreasonable and I should complain. Husband is going to come along to the appointment this week and together we will explain why I'm feeling the way I am about things. I've had an appointment to see the health visitor and was feeling like I wouldn't bother if she's anywhere near as bad as the midwife but my friend had the same one and told me she's lovely so I'll go ahead and meet her on Tuesday which will hopefully make me feel a bit better about the professionals involved.

I hope everyone else is feeling well and the Spring is finally arriving where you are. Everyone says to me that having a spring baby is the best time of year 🐣

TrigsToo · 25/03/2018 23:19

Oh my goodness, congratulations Sunshine! Glad all went well.

We had the last of our NCT classes on Friday (for due dates of late April - May) and that evening one of the women went into natural labour, so the first baby of the NCT class has now arrived Grin

Re. Braxton Hicks v. Contractions - apparently BH are around the front of the bump and true contractions start from your back.

Had an urgent growth scan on Friday after we finally got my growth chart sorted (after two months of trying) and my midwife worrying that he'd spotted growing. But he's OK, currently believed to be about 5lb10, so slightly below average, but that's fine by me Grin

harrietm87 · 26/03/2018 05:49

How many weeks are you @TrigsToo? Mine was 5lb 14 at 36+2 which was a little below average (think 40th centile).

Congratulations @Sunshinesaz86! So exciting the babies are starting to arrive. I'm 38+1 and finished work on fri - want the baby to come now! I've got terrible insomnia. Fall asleep ok then wake up at 4/5am every day and don't get back until about 6.30. At least can now nap during the day I suppose.

Sam91TRS15 · 26/03/2018 13:32

I had my appointment with the midwife today, unfortunately no sweep even though my due date is Wednesday. But booked in for a sweep on Monday and induction next Wednesday if he doesn't arrive by then. Apparently now they book inductions at 41 weeks here not 42.
He is 2/5 engaged now though so we are getting there. Hopefully contractions start on my due date like it did last time!
How is everyone doing today?
