Oh @FairfaxAikman that's terrible!! That's so not what you need, I can't believe your boss insisted on you coming in to the office. Coming from the red zone put your life in danger, even if you weren't pregnant. What an absolute tosser! I'm in an amber zone and my office doesn't expect anyone that can't walk their commute, it's always been their rule for snow days - I'm just v lucky I'm already on leave.
I hope you bring this up with HR or something next week, that expectation of you travelling in treacherous weather is so wrong

FairfaxAikman · 01/03/2018 13:42

I am getting to work from home today.
The drive down the motorway was terrifying- mainly due to other drivers thinking I'm doing 25-40 because I'm scared rather than for safety.

Did lose sight of tarmac a few times.

rosegarden45 · 01/03/2018 17:07

Sounds horrible having to travel about in the bad weather. We're only on an amber alert but my manager has said to cancel all plans and only go out in an emergency so I'm working from home and keeping warm.

Baby has become much more active again. The kicks are getting quite uncomfortable. Not sure there is enough room left inside me for baby to stay in another 7 weeks! Got another scan on Monday so it'll be interesting to see what they are estimating the current weight is.

We've started packing a couple of bags in case we need to go in to hospital but the current plan is that if I go into labour after 37 weeks we stay at home for delivery.

olicat · 01/03/2018 18:14

@Fairfax I cannot believe your boss!! Absolutely ridiculous. Sorry it was such a stressful day but glad you're ok now and could work from home today.

@harriet you're like me, counting down every day! 2 weeks and 6 days til mat leave for me now.

Just wanted to point out it's March now so our babies are due next month, with a few arriving this month! It's suddenly come around so quickly.

fitbitbore · 01/03/2018 18:23

I keep forgetting about this group cos of the Facebook group. This will placemark it for me.

Aspenn17 · 02/03/2018 15:54

@fairfax you poor thing! I hope your boss realised how much stress he caused you and you were allowed to expense the hotel!?

NCT course cancelled :( its looking unlikely it will be rescheduled. Even though lots of my friends have babies and I’ve read lots of books and done a hypnobirthing course, I’m worried we won’t know enough about when she is actually here, but I guess it’s too late to find any other classes now?

Also pipes frozen and washing machine has flooded the kitchen 🤦🏼‍♀️ So over this weather.

fitbitbore · 03/03/2018 07:13

End of pregnancy illness.

Since x mas I'm
On my third lot of anti biotics for chest infections. I feel so run down and never seem to be able to fully clear it. Anyone find this at the end, I've only got four weeks to go now!! I told the consultant who just said yeh all your anti bodies are going to the baby and it's normal 😭😭😭

rosegarden45 · 05/03/2018 14:41

34 week scan today. Baby is measuring approx 7lbs. The doctor suggested another glucose tolerance test (my 3rd test). I've declined a further glucose test because I'm not sure what help it will be.
Feeling a bit confused about what advice to follow. I feel like the medical professionals are all very negative and it feels like they are reading off a script when they say about the risks of baby being too big.
The head and legs are scanning on the middle line so average size but the tummy is over the top line. I'm sure it's down to my diet throughout pregnancy. I've eaten a lot of cake, chocolate and general sweet things.

I really don't want them pressurising me into further testing, induction or c-section 😣

harrietm87 · 05/03/2018 15:38

Oh @rosegarden45 that sounds really stressful. I had the opposite last week when my fundal height suggested the baby was small - my mw actually asked me if I'd been eating enough, like it was my fault! (The scan actually suggested it was 50th centile so fine).

I also googled a lot though and those scans are notoriously inaccurate. I know quite a few people who have been told that their babies would be huge and they weren't at all - often out by a couple of pounds.

What centile is 7lbs? And have they suggested next steps? How big were you and your OH at birth?

MrsDishavingaB · 05/03/2018 15:53

Oh god @rosegarden45 that's scary. What do you think about baby? Do you feel like it's particularly big or heavy? You'd think we'd have some incling seeing as we are lugging them around all the time. My baby was estimated at 5lbs 2oz last Monday and I was 34+5 which is apparently right on track, even though his tummy is also measuring on the larger side the sonographer said that the squished up position they are in can make their tummy appear larger than it is and they're far more concerned with head and femur measurements as it indicates growth issues if they're under 50th centile. As harriet said, what centile have they noted the tummy measurement as? My 20 week scan the tummy was off the charts hehe I just called him a little Buddha belly and no one was concerned.

MrsDishavingaB · 05/03/2018 16:01

Oh also I must mention...if you're worried about having GD but don't want to do the GTT, order some diabetic pee test strips from Amazon (they're around £5). Have a sugary drink and then an hour or so afterwards test your pee for glucose. My midwife was saying she doesn't know why they do the GTT when all they need to do is test your HBA1C or your pee. If you have glucose you know then that probably you should be tested further but if not you can happily reject the testing knowing you're not putting anyone in harms way ☺️ just an idea!

rosegarden45 · 05/03/2018 17:06

Baby's tummy has been measuring above the top line since 20 weeks so we've been going back for scans every 4 weeks since then.
It's head and legs have always been measuring absolutely average along the middle line of the chart.
I haven't been seeing the community midwife regularly because of all the hospital scans so haven't ever had bump measured by her.
I feel big but then I've felt big right from the start. I was very small before I got pregnant and one of my first symptoms was a swollen tummy which has made me feel heavy throughout. Everyone comments on how huge I am but I do think it's perspective as I was so small before pregnancy and now I'm ballooned up like a whale!
All pee tests have been negative for sugar and the previous 2 glucose tests were negative so I don't see the point in going through the test again.
The doctor today was saying if baby is too big the shoulders might get stuck and that if it doesn't get enough oxygen it will end up in special care etc etc. If it's head was measuring too big I'd believe them but tummys are squishy so I'm sure it will come out. I've also been told by others about scans saying their babies are enormous and then they've come out a perfectly normal size. I was 9lb at birth and husband is over 6 foot so I'm not expecting a small baby.
I just feel like I'm constantly fighting the system. I've always wanted a home birth and midwife has been against it from day 1 and now i know she'll be even more adamant that I can't have one. I just want to be left alone to have a natural birth and not be forced into inductions or c-sections or anything else just because they think it's tummy is a little large

MrsDishavingaB · 06/03/2018 10:56

Have they been testing your pee for glucose too? They've only been testing mine for protein. Hopefully they figure something out soon and you don't have to do something that you don't want to do. I think though maybe you need to work out a compromise if they really are insistent on you delivering early, or carrying out some sort of intervention, then you should do it in a way that you are most comfortable with and then you can mentally prepare for it at least 🙂.

I have finally realised that I am definitely having Braxton Hicks lol, the past 4/5 days my belly tightens down the middle and after it happening quite a lot I realised it wasn't baby just moving into an uncomfy position 😂.

I also have my follow up CTG today at 2pm, hopefully his heartbeat behaves itself today! fingers crossed

FairfaxAikman · 06/03/2018 11:35

First antenatal class this afternoon.

olicat · 07/03/2018 18:06

There's a new series of one born every minute starting tonight! I'm weirdly enthused to watch it - around 20 weeks I couldn't contemplate it but I think watching loads of positive births in hypnobirthing class has helped.

Hope everyone is ok esp those having extra monitoring.

MrsDishavingaB · 07/03/2018 18:30

Aah I'm excited about OBEM too, I've literally been watching all seasons on All4 and now the new one is starting haha!

My CTG on Tuesday went well however I am now 36 weeks and baby is still breech, I have 2 options = ECV or C-Section. I'm not sure what to do. Got a scan tomorrow to see if babies head has grown and then consultant on Friday to discuss birthing options and results of scan & CTG.

How was Antenatal class @FairfaxAikman?

harrietm87 · 07/03/2018 18:45

Wooo didn't know this was starting again! Will definitely be tuning in. I've also watched allll the back episodes - I'm sure it's not that realistic but it's the closest I can get and I want to be prepared!

I think I'm coming down with my second cold in 3 weeks argh. 35+3 today and just feel sooooo pregnant!

boatrace30 · 07/03/2018 19:24

@MrsDishavingaB - same story here in terms of baby being breech. Though no other issues.
I'm having a presentation scan on Friday and assuming breech is confirmed I will then book a c section.

Same story with DD last time but I tried an ECV then. The doctor didn't come close. Clearly she was very wedged. For that reason I don't intend to bother this time but it definitely wasn't as bad as lots of threads make it out to be. (That could just be because the doctor gave up quite quickly!)

MrsDishavingaB · 07/03/2018 19:32

@boatrace30 that's interesting! Do you know if you've got a heart shaped uterus or anything? That would explain why both babies have been breech with no luck of turning them? I'm not sure if I'll be able to have the ECV if his heart rate keeps playing up. Everything I've been through recently feels like it's pointing me towards a section.

As sucky as this situation is for both of us I'm a little glad I'm not the only one going through it, we can keep each other company 😊

boatrace30 · 07/03/2018 20:53

Yes, I imagine they might advise against. You have to be monitored for an hour before and after to check babies heart rate. If you already have issues they mighty be reluctant.

No idea about my uterus. It's never been mentioned but I think it must be. I was also breech as was my grandmother so it runs in the family seemingly.

boatrace30 · 07/03/2018 20:54

Do you think you might have yours sooner rather than later. I'm expecting 27th-29th as I'm 39 weeks on the 29th. Last time it was done on 39+2

MrsDishavingaB · 08/03/2018 09:03

@boatrace30 unless his heart rate settles to a normal rhythm at every appointment I think I probably will end up having him earlier rather than later. He seems to not like it when I haven't had a drink for a while so if they make me fast before the ECV his hb will inevitably dip.

That's so interesting that breech babies have run in your family! I didn't think it was a heriditary (sp?) thing.

Did you watch OBEM? I was so hoping last nights episode was the one where the dad passed out. He fell with a thud!

harrietm87 · 08/03/2018 11:25

@MrsDishavingaB just to say my friend had ECV and it worked a treat! She said it was uncomfortable rather than painful, the baby turned, she was then induced and had a straightforward birth, so it can happen.

Aspenn17 · 08/03/2018 12:49

So I’ve had a fairly interesting morning...! Just been for a 34 week growth scan, and been told she is rather big! 86th percentile and at 34+2 they reckon she is already 6lb 4 😳
The sonographer and consultant were all very positive, said she is super healthy but I have to have a glucose test tomorrow then another scan and consultant appt in 2 weeks where they will then discuss induction if she is still looking big. Eek. Really hoping I go into labour early naturally to avoid that. Excited we will get to meet her sooner than planned but REALLY want to avoid induction and medical intervention if poss.

rosegarden45 · 08/03/2018 16:30

Ooh Aspenn you are in a similar boat to me again. My 34 week scan on Monday confirmed super sized baby again. Just over 7lb. I'm going back in 2 weeks for another scan. Really don't want induction or any other kind of intervention so I'm hopeful baby will naturally make an early appearance.
Apart from finishing work I'm pretty ready now. We have 2 more weeks of antenatal classes to attend and I've booked 5 more weeks worth of pregnancy swimming classes but if baby makes an early appearance I can claim them back in baby swim classes.

Hope everyone is feeling ok what with all the extra scans and tests etc everyone is having to go through
