Wow lovely nurseries! I'm super jealous. Probably won't get round to doing ours until after the baby is here!

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 15/02/2018 19:13

I’m jealous of all the nursery’s too - all looking fab guys!
I on the other hand have just started a re wire and am a good few weeks away from even having the house back to normal let alone decorated 🙈

Nurseries look lovely! Our cot and Moses basket is ordered but not yet been despatched... need to tidy up all the clutter first though. We're in the position of having most of the main things but nothing being organised yet! Can't wait til mat leave so I have time to nest 😁

Testar0ssa · 16/02/2018 14:43

Everyone's nurseries look great. Smile

I haven't decided whether I want to put child 2 in with child 1 (after initial 6 months), or put child 2 in separate room (meaning we have to give up spare room and get rid of lovely huge bed). Having room for visitors is a blessing and a curse depending on who it is. Decisions decisions ...

neuronalmatter · 16/02/2018 14:50

Speaking of belly buttons, my baby seems to have found a new pleasure -- putting his hand/foot through my belly button. It freaked me out the other night when I saw his little hand/foot poking out through my belly button. :/ Has anybody else experienced this?

MrsDishavingaB · 16/02/2018 15:07

Loving these beautiful nurseries! Ours is almost finished, just need to put up the blind, wall stickers/decos and put the clothes in the chest of drawers. He'll be in our room in the SnuzPod for the first 6 months or so anyway but I like to be organised. My mat leave starts next Friday! Can't wait!

@Testar0ssa how old is DC1? I'd be tempted to try them out in the same room if DC1 isn't at an age where they could be waking DC2 up but still a very tricky decision!

@neuronalmatter that's so weird about the belly button!! That would freak me out so bad. All I get now is baby rolling around and sometimes jabbing me with an elbow but it's cool to be able to see my belly move with the rolls

boatrace30 · 16/02/2018 15:21

Oh wow @MrsDishavingaB - I can't believe mat leaves are starting. I'm due 3rd April but aiming to work till 29th March Confused. So a while yet!

Our interior design efforts went into DDs room as she has moved upstairs (we've got three floors) and new baby will have her nursery so other than a bit of a clean we've not had to do anything. Poor new baby - first of many hand me downs!!

MrsDishavingaB · 16/02/2018 15:46

@boatrace30 my mat leave is only starting now because I won't be returning this year and need to take all of my annual leave. So I'm on 4 weeks annual leave and then official mat leave on 26th March. Been a very lucky lady with how it's worked out!

harrietm87 · 16/02/2018 15:59

@boatrace30 you're working even longer than me! I'm due 8 April and was going to go to 38+4 (30th March) but have brought it forward to 37+5 (23 March), so 5 weeks left as of Monday!

Very jealous of @MrsDishavingaB!

@neuronalmatter haven't had the belly button thing - sounds a bit scary! But the rolling is v visible now.

FairfaxAikman · 16/02/2018 17:17

My mat leave doesn't start till the week of my due date. I am taking four weeks holiday before hand though.

MrsDishavingaB · 16/02/2018 17:47

So you're doing exactly the same as me @FairfaxAikman :) when's your EDD? You must be due to finish work soon then?

FairfaxAikman · 16/02/2018 18:31

Got four weeks @MrsDishavingaB. My EDD is April 18

Testar0ssa · 16/02/2018 19:12

MrsD - child 1 is nearly 2. If I time it wrong, I could be in hospital having child 2 on her birthday Confused

DaisyLand · 16/02/2018 19:28

@harrietm87 we start the leave on the same date :) I’ve got a countdown I like seeing those numbers going down. :) however that my change at the end of the month after a talk with an obstetrician I’ve been referred to.

boatrace30 · 16/02/2018 23:05

@harrietm87 - Yes I'll be 39+2! Mental I know but holidays actually work awfully for me as a teacher. My first two weeks of mat leave will be holiday which I'll basically lose!
I'm keen to teach my a-level students as close to their exam as possible as they aren getting any cover for me but realistically think I'll need to leave at 38weeks as baby still breech so a c-section during week 39 looks likely!

Sunshinesaz86 · 17/02/2018 09:33

Loving the nurseries ladies. I went back to work at 30 weeks after being off for over 12 months with my DS, just doing some relief so not too crazy. Only working a couple more weeks.

On another note I’ve got an induction date of the 22nd March!!!! 😱😱😱 I don’t think I’m mentally or physically prepared. X x

rosegarden45 · 17/02/2018 13:28

The 'travel system' has arrived 🙊the only thing we have bought for baby. It's making it feel very real! Husband spent about 45 minutes trying to fit the isofix in my car. We will have to get someone to check it's fitted correctly. Then we unpacked all the different pushchair fittings. There has been lots of blank staring at instructions but we seem to have survived 😃

My mat leave is due to start on my due date but my HR department have put down 3 weeks annual leave before due date so I'll be finishing work 23rd March. I'm not happy about it because I wanted to take my annual leave at the end of mat leave and work as long as possible into April. But then some people have said to make the most of having some free time as we'll never have it again. I just think I'll be so bored being off for so long and if baby is late that could end up being 5 weeks of waiting. At least with work the weeks are passing by quite quickly.

YTho · 18/02/2018 12:04

Anyone else feeling absolutely knackered all the time? I've got two weeks to go before my leave starts and I'm not sure how I will cope. I work full time and my commute is 3 hours every day. Just despairing a bit at this point.

olicat · 18/02/2018 16:16

Ytho you're so close!! Might be normal for this stage of pregnancy, but is it worth getting your iron levels checked? Found out at my last appointment that my iron levels had tanked so got given iron tablets by the midwife - apologies for tmi but sadly they've given me diahorrea which is not ideal. I suppose it's better than the other way round?! Going to see if it settles down over the next week but if not I might have to speak to the midwife again as not sure I fancy this for the next 9 or so weeks 🙈

olicat · 18/02/2018 16:18

sunshine so exciting that you have your date! How many weeks will you be by then?

Sunshinesaz86 · 18/02/2018 20:07

rosegarden enjoy your time off get a good box set on the go! I had 6 weeks annual leave to take with DS as could not carry it over and it went quite quickly in the end.

ytho I’m not surprised your feeling tired with a 3 hour commute 😱 that sounds awful.

olicat Sometimes they can give an iron transfusion (not sure if they can when pregnant?) definitely speak to your midwife though -
I’ll be 38 weeks - DD was 5th April but because they’ve diagnosed me with obstetric cholestatis they don’t let you go over 38 weeks here. My bile acid levels jumped up this week even on the medication so if they continue to go up they may decide to induce sooner (but I hope not) having two weeks shaved off the time you have left is hard enough to get my head around never mind any sooner! 😱

Is anyone else being induced or having a c section early at all?

olicat · 18/02/2018 20:38

Sunshine glad they're keeping a close eye on you and fingers crossed you don't have to be induced any earlier. 38 is nicely cooked though! I wonder who will have the first thread baby? 😊

boatrace30 · 18/02/2018 21:23

@Sunshinesaz86 - not confirmed yet but I suspect I'll have a c-section at 39 weeks. I'm about to hit 34 and baby is definitely still breech and I'm pretty sure it can't turn as it keeps trying and failing!!
I reckon it will be 27th-29th March. So you're still ahead!
And @rosegarden45 - a 3hr commute sounds awful. No wonder you're exhausted!!

rosegarden45 · 18/02/2018 21:56

I've got my next scan at 34 weeks. If it is still scanning big I don't think they will let me get to due date. They've been scanning every 4 weeks or so since 20 weeks due to baby having a big tummy.

I might have upset baby today tho. My mum was coming over so I decided to clean the house and spent a lot of time on my hands and knees scrubbing round the dog bed, moving furniture about to Hoover behind and mop floors. I got a bit carried away lifting chairs and pushing sofas around. I didn't think anything of it at the time but my lower back is so painful now and abdo pain. I'm just hoping baby doesn't think it's time to come out, still got 8 weeks left of cooking to do.

MrsDishavingaB · 19/02/2018 08:51

Eeesh @boatrace30 do they not like it if baby is breech at 34 weeks still then?! 😳 my little guy is still breech so I'm wondering if he'll turn, would be just my bloody luck if I have to have a c-section - I've had an allergic reaction to general anaesthetic before so they're going to be on close watch of me if they have to use any proper anaesthetic/sedatives. I wonder who will have the first baby then at this rate!

@rosegarden45 I think you've angered your muscles more than baby, I bet all that moving didn't let them sleep though lol!

@olicat, I know it's an odd suggestion but try eating some cereal high in iron, it's the only thing for me that's not caused my levels to crash.

Had the worst night sleep last night! I've had a sudden chesty cough come from nowhere, really fevery and muscle fatigued last night so every half hour I'd have to turn over from pins and needles in my arms. God I wish we could sleep on our backs!
