@harrietm87 - I think heart rate is meant to get lower as the pregnancy progresses. I'm sure she'd have said something if she was worried.

Lol, I'm pretty sure no amount of breathing stops it hurting unless you're breathing while you've had an epidural!!

My NCT classes were informative and practical but I guess it's luck of the draw with the instructor

Jeds55 · 30/01/2018 10:12

Just finished my NCT course and found them really useful 're birthing, pain relief, what to expect etc. Also great to meet 6 other couples going through the same thing.
Movements also changed here (now over 31 weeks) hard to explain but more rolling and less definate kicks etc. Been to hospital couple times for monitoring as was feeling so little but thankfully all ok so trying to accept it and not stress!

Jeds55 · 30/01/2018 10:14

Testar I hear you 're heartburn.Hmm Makes sleeping even more uncomfortable so basically dozing Sat up through the night now. Feeling knackered this week

ClaireBear1986 · 30/01/2018 11:07

Glad to hear people seem to have good experiences of the NCT classes.

Relived that I booked those now and I didn't do the Daisy version of these instead, as they definitely seem to be more hippy and free spirited, which is not what I wanted.
Hopefully my other Daisy class improve as time goes on, but if not at least I have met some other Mummys to be in the local area :)

I've actually only had heartburn twice, and it was awful. So I feel really sorry for people getting it regularly and keeping my fingers crossed that I don't start getting it all the time.
Both times I have found milk has really helped me though.

FairfaxAikman · 30/01/2018 12:26

I drink a lot of milk @ClaireBear1986 as DF has an early onset version of osteoporosis. However I've really gone off the taste so have had to have it with a good dose of Nesquick.
Not been finding it helps my heartburn though. (Even Gaviscon doesn't touch it)

ClaireBear1986 · 30/01/2018 14:01

I'm obsessed with drinking milk, always have been. Me and my DP probably go through at least 20 pints of milk a week!!

Nesquick is always yummy though. Not had that for years actually.

pinkflamingo121318 · 30/01/2018 14:42

Does anyone use a bump support band?
If so, what kind? And where from?
Browsing amazon and there are SO many!

Has anyone else found their bump/skin is really tender like smack in the middle? I have a loose fitting dress on and it's uncomfortable.
I have over bump leggings but I'm having to wear them underneath because even those hurt!

FairfaxAikman · 30/01/2018 14:45

We're team blue! Only took till 29 weeks to find out.

boatrace30 · 30/01/2018 20:03

Also finding milk really helps! I didn't drink it last time and heartburn was much worse. I trained myself to enjoy drinking it to up my calcium intake when I was breastfeeding so now drinking it at the first sign of heartburn and it really staves it off. Better than rennies (which I can't abide after the last pregnancy)

olicat · 31/01/2018 08:16

Sorry to all the heartburn sufferers - my colleague had it badly and I think the doctor was able to prescribe something stronger than gaviscon for her.

I was just wondering if any ezcema sufferers were having a flare up?! I've had ezcema on and off since birth but it's usually kept more or less under control. I had a patch about the size of a 20p on my arm before pregnancy but in the last week or so it's quadrupled in size and it's so itchy I can't sleep (have been awake since 4.30am). I've tried EVERYTHING over the counter and no luck so going to ring the drs today. I was just wondering if anyone had the same and what they were given? Loads of the heavy duty creams aren't suitable for pregnancy and I'd be very reluctant to take anything that could affect the baby. I just need something to get me through the next 11.5 ish weeks without going mad! I never thought ezcema would be the thing that finally undid me during pregnancy 🙈

FairfaxAikman · 31/01/2018 08:32

What about Aveeno? I use it for skin that was damaged when it was scalded. It gets dry and this stuff has been amazing.

olicat · 31/01/2018 17:31

I have heard great things about aveeno - although everything that's supposed to make it better seems to be triggering a huge reaction. Thankfully have managed to get a doctor's appointment for Friday afternoon so will see what they say.

FairfaxAikman · 31/01/2018 17:34

It's a colloidal oatmeal solution so should soothe the skin.

MrsDishavingaB · 31/01/2018 17:45

@FairfaxAikman congrats on Team Blue! Is this what you thought all along? What made you finally decide to find out?

Sucks that so many people are getting heartburn, I've had it very mildly a couple of times but just a sip of water settled that.
My biggest issue at the moment is SPD pain and dizziness, not quite sure what the dizziness is in relation to...?

I finally caved and got a SnuzPod 🙈 I've just spent the afternoon putting it together whilst my husband isn't around to tell me not to lift stuff lol feeling very helpless not being able to do stuff around the house!

FairfaxAikman · 31/01/2018 17:47

I was convinced it was blue. We always wanted to find out but bubs wouldn't behave before now.

harrietm87 · 31/01/2018 18:07

Ah fairfax did you have a private scan? I was convinced at the start that mine was a boy and while I guess I still do on balance, I'm less sure. We haven't even started thinking of names either!

FairfaxAikman · 31/01/2018 18:32

I get extra growth scans as I'm at higher risk of developing diabetes.

MrsDishavingaB · 31/01/2018 18:42

Oh I see, I thought it was a choice sorry! Very glad your gut feeling was correct though 😊

Has anyone experienced braxton hicks yet?
I'm not quite sure how they're supposed to feel but all the apps say I should be feeling them by now....I'm wondering if the times that I think bub has moved to an awkward position is actually a tightening of my belly or would I definitely know?

FairfaxAikman · 31/01/2018 18:52

I get a pressure-type sensation on one side but I just assume that's Bubs stretching.

harrietm87 · 31/01/2018 19:20

@MrsDishavingaB I thought I wasn't having them either, then realised that the tight feeling I've been getting probably is braxton hicks? It's not painful, just my bump goes tight and feels hard. The baby usually moves afterwards so I'd assumed previously that it was caused by the baby somehow, but pretty sure now it is actually BH. Hope they continue to be painless!

boatrace30 · 31/01/2018 21:41

I had my 31 week appt today. Baby is still breech so I'm pretty sure I'll be a March c-section Sad. A bit gutted as wanted to at least attempt to do it naturally this time round but on the other hand I do know what to expect and clearly I have a dodgy uterus or something

HarryHarry · 31/01/2018 22:03

I'm a bit late as I didn't know this section existed! I'm 30+2 with baby #1 (a boy). I'm originally from London, but currently living in a non-English-speaking place for husband's work. So far everything is going really well. They do things quite differently here (e.g. no antenatal classes, pregnancy exercise classes, midwives, birthing pools, gas and air, etc.) which worries me a bit but I guess I can't do much about it! I just have to make do with Maggie Howell's hypnobirthing mp3 Grin

olicat · 01/02/2018 06:36

Boatrace at 31 weeks there's still time to turn, or do you think it won't cos of prior experience? (Sorry if you've already explained).

Exciting that it's February today - we're officially due the month after next! And I'm sure there will be a couple of arrivals late next month 😊

boatrace30 · 01/02/2018 06:49

Yes there is time but I think (and Midwife was inclined to agree) that there must be a reason I have breech babies (as my mum and gran did!) so I feel it's less than likely.

harrietm87 · 01/02/2018 07:23

@boatrace30 did you have a scan or did they just feel your bump? Only because they can get it wrong by feeling - that's happened to a couple of friends of mine. Guess if you've had a breach baby already it's less likely, but maybe push for a scan closer to the time to be sure?

Mine was apparently transverse in my appointment on Monday, so certainly expecting it to move!
