@TrigsToo mine seems to be a big fan of Rory Gallagher and Ac/Dc (but only the Bon Scott stuff).
My pal did Africa by Toto in a recent am dram show and that also went down well with bubs.

It obviously has good taste.

TrigsToo · 25/01/2018 11:08

@FairfaxAikman Mine apparently enjoys Metallica - particularly the heavier stuff Grin

Again, good taste!

TrigsToo · 25/01/2018 11:09

@FairfaxAikman Also, my OH was named after Rory Gallagher!

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 11:41

@TrigsToo one of our dogs is named after him

MissYeti · 25/01/2018 12:03

@rosegarden45 its basically the same as the emmas diary packs. I wouldn't make a special effort to get it, it was something I picked up when I happened to be going past a boots store

Aspenn17 · 25/01/2018 15:52

@rosegarden I'm doing a couple of hypnobirthing classes but mine don't start until Feb 22nd, would like to have started sooner but couldn't do the Jan dates. Let me know how you get on!

I think my DH initially thought it might be a bit 'hippy' for him but now he is quite keen to do it because he is a bit nervous about the birth and feels like hypnobirthing will help him have more of an active 'role', reminding me of the techniques/breathing etc.

LivLemler · 25/01/2018 20:20

Looking forward to hearing how the hynobirthing goes, we start next week.

Had my 30 week check today. GP doesn't seem to set much store by measuring, she just eyeballed me and said I was fine for 30 weeks. She thinks my iron might be low, so have a script for tablets pending the results of my blood tests. I am absolutely knackered this week which I'd put down to work, I'd be delighted if the iron tablets gave me a bit more energy.

rosegarden45 · 26/01/2018 18:51

Hypnobirthing was good. Lots of thinking about what you find relaxing etc, some breathing techniques, more info about how the birth works which was good for husband to learn more about.
Also, she advised me to put more air in my birthing ball which has made it so much more comfortable so that was really helpful!
She gave us a book to read all about hypnobirthing so I'll be studying that now. I've been thinking about music to choose for relaxation.

Oh and it helped on the way to convincing husband that a home birth could be an option. I'm adamant I want to be at home and comfortable and he has been quite anti it but is coming round to the idea now 😀 just need to convince the midwife now....!

boatrace30 · 26/01/2018 19:38

@rosegarden45 - I can honestly say that before dd was born I would never have considered a Home birth. But I absolutely would if I could having had a baby in hospital. I can't and wouldn't as Im high risk but if you can I would absolutely go for it

rosegarden45 · 26/01/2018 22:35

I really do want to be at home because I think I'll be much more relaxed. Midwife isn't keen and baby scans all say it has a big tummy so they keep threatening c-section but I'll keep dreaming of my home birth and if it doesn't happen I won't be too disappointed. Just found out my friend who had strictly planned her hospital birth gave birth on her bathroom floor very quickly and unexpectedly a couple of days ago 😊 so birth plans often don't go to plan!

olicat · 27/01/2018 06:54

28 weeks today so third trimester! 🎉🎉 think I'm one of the last ones as a I have a later April due date. Feels like a big deal, we're on the home stretch now!

Glad to hear hypnobirthing was good rose, I'm starting hospital antenatal and hypnobirthing next week which I'm excited about despite a hectic week at work coming up. In an ideal world I'd like an intervention free water birth at the mlu attached to my local hospital but am doing hypnobirthing mainly so I know how to keep calm if anything else happens! (Also I have big ideas of breathing the baby out but could very well end up screaming for an epidural 😂)

MissYeti · 27/01/2018 19:52

@olicat I hit 28 weeks on Monday so just behind you Grin its a very exciting milestone! Think OH is getting a bit freaked out at how little time we have left even though we're 97% prepared now.

Got a 4D scan booked for the 3rd, very excited about seeing teddy properly for the first time!!

Been snooping around some of the Nov-feb forums and a lot of women are saying they're sick of being pregnant from about 35 weeks...is that normal? I've had a couple days of feeling impatient and wanting to be full term already but I can't imagine not wanting to be pregnant :o

boatrace30 · 27/01/2018 22:19

Very normal - believe me it gets very uncomfortable and if you go overdue you'll be fed up!

TrigsToo · 28/01/2018 10:35

I don't hit 28 wks until Thursday - due 26th April.

After basically no sleep yesterday, I'm pretty much done on being pregnant though. My belly hurt, my hips hurt, my shoulders hurt, I was too hot. Ended up downstairs and got a few hours on the sofa, but feeling pretty grumpy. And Eddie's not even here yet to keep me awake!

harrietm87 · 28/01/2018 10:52

I'm 30 weeks today - feels like a big milestone! But at the same time another 10 weeks feels like an age. Already very much hoping I don't go overdue.

My bump suddenly feels massive. I have my 30 week midwife appointment tomorrow so will be interested to see how I'm measuring.

rosegarden45 · 28/01/2018 13:40

I'm struggling with sleeping and fitting into clothes so they are my current reasons to want the next 11 weeks to hurry up. However I feel like I'll really miss being pregnant. Anyone else feel like you'll miss having the bump to stroke and the movements inside? I know I'll have a baby to replace that feeling with but I think I'm going to be longing for pregnancy again!

DaisyLand · 28/01/2018 14:47

29w here. I feel like a whale. Yesterday met a friend for dinner. What normally takes me 10-15 mins to walk yesterday was 25Shock

Had a visit o the hospital on Friday night :( naughty child refused to move all day so went to see him. Was for an hour listening to his heart beating (the noise nearly makes me fall asleep ) and also they did a quick scan to measure blood flow and also fluid around him. Everything was ok.

They want to do a growth scan tho and also check me on diabetes Blush I was so happy I didn’t have gd but now need to have the gtt :(

Is it April yet ?

rosegarden45 · 28/01/2018 21:07

I'm also 29 weeks and I'm having growth scans every 4 weeks. Had to do GTT twice now 🙈 I'm hoping they won't make me do it again! It's come back as normal both times but baby's tummy is still measuring too big.

My movements have changed this week. They haven't stopped so I haven't gone off to the hospital but they are much fainter than before and in a totally different place. I'm guessing it's because baby has moved position or something and what I've read says it has less room for big kicks now so might feel different.

Got another growth scan next week so we'll see what the update is this month.

Looking forward to April 😊

ClaireBear1986 · 29/01/2018 10:48

Late reply @DaisyLand, but I wasn't too keen on the Daisy Birthing Active Movement Class last week tbh.
Hoping it will improve as the week goes on though, as I have paid for 6 weeks course.

Not to sure really what I was expecting from it, but I found it very hippy. I felt like a naughty schoolgirl in the corner, trying not to giggle.
She kept going on about how labour isn't painful and is an enjoyable experience, as long as you breathe correctly. I just couldn't take it seriously tbh.

Hoping the NCT classes are better, as heard that they can be a bit hippy and free spirited.

harrietm87 · 29/01/2018 11:04

Just had my 30 week midwife appointment today at 30+1. Bump measuring 30.5 so pretty spot on, and surprising as I feel absolutely huge! Baby's heartbeat was 128bpm which seems low as it's always been around the 150 mark, but midwife didn't say anything about it and I only noticed it in my notes after I'd left. Has anyone else had a reading as low as this?

I'm doing NCT but they don't start for a couple of weeks yet. Bit apprehensive!

ClaireBear1986 · 29/01/2018 11:25

I've actually been chatting this morning with another local Mum who has started attending the NCT classes (that I will be attending in March) and she has said they are great.

Not hippy, very informative and very friendly.

Fingers crossed ours as just as good!!

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 29/01/2018 13:28

@Claire I’m doing daisy too and I am enjoying it so far but I have to say that there was no chat of birth not being painful pretty sure that breathing isn’t going elimate the pain of push a human out of you 🙄

We have had a focus on breathing but more in the sense of how it can help with the birth and calming effect rather than a pain relief - hopefully it will get better for you

Don't know if you guys are interested but I've been watching videos on YouTube by The Positive Birthing Company all about hypnobirthing and having a positive birth experience. They aren't hippy dippy but very logical and I can really see them helping to keep me calm. There's 11 videos in total and they're only 5 mins each. Seeing as I couldn't get onto any courses this is calming my nerves a little at least!

31 weeks on Wednesday and I definitely can understand the having enough of pregnancy mentality lol! I'm so uncomfy and my SPD is flaring up again. The kicking and closeness to my baby inside me I think are going to be the only bits I'll miss. However it's the final countdown and it's getting very real!

ClaireBear1986 · 29/01/2018 14:13

Yeah I've not been through labour before, but I'm also pretty sure that even if I am breathing "correctly" it is still going to hurt. Ha.

Also felt the positions that were meant to relax us, just made me feel so uncomfortable. I was so pleased when it finished last week tbh.

But I am holding out a little bit of hope that it might improve as the weeks go on.
Either way it is quite nice to get out the house, and chat with other mums to be at least.

I have ordered a hynobirthing CD, but haven't listened to it yet as The Daisy Classes put me off so much.
Will have a listen tonight I think, and try to keep an open mind about it all.
Might have a look at the You Tube clips as well, thanks for the tip @MrsDishavingaB

31 weeks here. One word for the week: heartburn. I've just bought packets and packets of Rennies.

For what it's worth, I tried to read the hypobirthing book for first baby. It reminded me of the Hobbit: incredibly tedious and was only going to be finished if I turned several pages at a time. (I didn't go to any classes as I've always been the one to be thrown out of yoga classes for laughing).

The only thing I took from the book, is how to slow your breathing: your 'out breath' should be twice the length of your 'in breath'.

Labour hurt, of course it did, but concentrating on breathing (ie the counting as above), and taking yourself mentally away (I pictured every detail of the pool at a hotel from our honeymoon-temp of water, temp of air, smells in the air, what I could hear, what I could see, literally every minute detail), gave me control.

The whole labour thing is so overwhelming on every front, it is easy to sink into panic. I found I could keep away from the precipice of panic by breathing and concentrating. It's also worth remembering that you only need to concentrate through each contraction-you can rest in between them.

Anyway, I just offer the above in case it is of any use.
