Also agree. Always measured big last time and ended up having a growth scan, but was measuring big because dd was breech and it effects bump size. Same looks to be happening this time.
Also I don't think they start till 28weeks and my Midwife said the 28weeks measurement was notoriously inaccurate.

Sunshinesaz86 · 21/01/2018 09:59

Yes they only started plotting mine at 28 weeks. I do have a growth scan booked for Tuesday but that's because of the OC they've diagnosed me with, so just precautionary really. Be nice to see baby again though 😬X

DaisyLand · 21/01/2018 12:42

Hi!
If anyone is thinking about getting the Tutti Bambini, Mothercare has got £30 discount on it, taking into account they've got exclusivity of it it's not taken me long to place the order :) It's only in the grey colour tho www.mothercare.com/cribs/tutti-bambini-cozee%C2%AE-bedside-crib---charcoal/244783.html

rosegarden45 · 22/01/2018 19:45

Are you all aware of baby box university? www.babyboxuniversity.com/
I signed up, it's really easy. You then have lots of short videos from your local area to watch with tips all about baby from healthcare professionals. After you watch the video clips you can claim a free baby box. Mine arrived pretty quick and is similar to the Finnish baby box with a mattress inside, sheet and information about safe sleeping. The box looks really good and I'm hoping to use it for baby to sleep in for the first 6 months. That's one less thing to have to buy!!

Baby box

Due April 2018 thread #3
MissYeti · 22/01/2018 19:53

I've got one :) I'm using it to store all the clothes I'm not using yet (6 months+) not bad for a freebie but I wish it came with a lid, would have made an awesome toy box

MrsDishavingaB · 23/01/2018 20:42

That box is cute rosegarden!** I always thought the baby box was such an odd thing lol and surely it goes against the million SIDS and ventilation rules we have around but hey the Finns have been doing it for years and seem fine!

Is anyone else starting to struggle with work? I'm debating whether or not to start my maternity leave early due to my current stress levels. The actual job is fine but the atmosphere in my office is absolutely atrocious right now, severe lack of respect from one colleague to another. Bitchy cliques starting very vicious rumours whilst pleading ignorance and victimisation. I'm not in the right mental state to be able to ignore it all and every day there is something new making me hate coming into work....
Is anyone else finding the emotional side really coming back into full swing?!

Aspenn17 · 24/01/2018 07:56

That atmosphere sounds horrible Mrs D :( has it always been like that? I'm definitely feeling more emotional/hormonal over the past couple of weeks.

Talking of freebies, have a look at this site www.emmasdiary.co.uk They send you the odd email but once you've signed up you can print vouchers for 3 free baby/mum packs and pick them up from boots or argos. Not loads in there but I got a couple of free packs of nappies, maternity pads, a big kids factor 50 suncream, a mini Palmers body butter pot, a few decent bits considering it's free! A lot of the Boots stores I tried had none in stock but I had more luck in Argos.

If signing up for Emma's Diary, I would make sure you put a fake mobile number down.
Since signing up, I have had between 5-10 scam calls a day. It seems they have been passed my contact details from Emma's Diary and a lot of other people seem to have had the same experience. Very annoying!!

My 1st pack wasn't particularly great and also had expired vouchers in, so haven't bothered to get the other packs.

I am glad that you have had a better experience with them though @Aspenn17 :)

rosegarden45 · 24/01/2018 10:00

@mrsD according to the website and literature etc the baby box reduces the risk of SIDs. I'm not sure what advice to follow really, these things seem to change all the time. I'm awaiting some kind of old fashioned Moses basket that my sister in law used that the whole family have had so will probably have that by the bed and the baby box downstairs for day time sleeping. I'm sure the midwife/health visitor will find something to criticise tho so we will see...!

Regarding work - I think I'm starting to realise that I'm a control freak. I'd never thought it before but I'm really struggling to handover. I'm finding jobs being taken off me that I've been in charge of for 3-4 years and I find that having these things removed from me stresses me out!! I just want to still be able to do everything. I haven't set a date yet to go on mat leave and feel like everyone is pushing me to make a decision and go off but I want to cling on go my uncomplicated work life for as long as possible! I have these big ideas that I'll work until the day before I give birth and go back to full time work as soon as possible. But in reality I know I should make the most of time off work and enjoy being at home with baby. I am however finding colleagues are doing my head in! Always talking about bump first instead of work and wanting to 'help' take the pressure off. I find that they don't do the job the same way I would expect it to be done... see what I mean about control freak!!! I don't know whether this is a hormone thing or fear of letting go! I'm not a bossy person at all but currently feel like I have to stand up for myself to get stuff done!

harrietm87 · 24/01/2018 13:33

Wow @rosegarden45 sounds stressful at work but also good that they're trying to take the pressure off?

I'm working to 39 weeks and will be 30 weeks on Sunday, so still over 2 months to go and so far everything has carried on completely as normal (including the 15 hour days) and as if I'm not pregnant. Haven't started to discuss handing over any of my cases (I'm a lawyer), no special treatment whatsoever. Luckily I've been feeling very well, no discomfort yet, so it hasn't been an issue, but I might start to feel differently as I get bigger and more uncomfortable!

ClaireBear1986 · 24/01/2018 14:17

Just wondering when/if people have started SEEING babies movements.

I have a very active baby, and I have had very strong kicks and movements from about 19 weeks. But so far I have still not actually SEEN any movements.

I'm quite slim with a small bump and so expected to see the movements early on, but I am 28 weeks tomorrow and still nothing.

I am not worried about this, as I can feel that baby is active. Just curious really to when people saw movement?

Thanks :)

DaisyLand · 24/01/2018 14:24

I’ve not seen any tho sometimes when he’s kicked I’ve kind of see baby jumping but that’s as far. But my scenario doesn’t help I guess as I’ve got anterior placenta and lazy boy. In fact I’m on my way home from work to have some juice and hopefully lazy man will move. Can’t wait Til April !

Claire btw you were starting daisy today weren’t you ? Hope it goes well. I’ve got my 4th class today. Hoping little trouble maker lets me go ! They teach you loads about giving birth and movements for when you’re in that stage

FairfaxAikman · 24/01/2018 15:05

I'm getting slightly exasperated with my male colleagues (I'm he only female in this office) who seem to think mat leave is a bit of a jolly.
One just said he wished he could take a year off like me.

rosegarden45 · 24/01/2018 15:16

Haha a year long holiday is what we are having...! I've been told that too!

Movement wise: I have seen my bump move and yesterday i decided to put music on my phone and place it on my 'shelf' (bump!) as I have been told to let baby hear me sing so I gave it a go and my phone jumped off my belly! I've not seen any outlines of feet or anything else but the movements are getting less like kicks and feel more like baby turning around etc. I also have an anterior placenta and have found most movements are to the right of my abdomen and more obvious when lying on my side. I'm 28 weeks and feel like I have a massive bump. People always seem shocked when I say I'm due in April because they all think I look ready to have it now. Makes me feel self conscious about the enormous amount of weight I have put on but I think it's just because I used to be quite small (size 8/10) and so this bump is making me a lot bigger than normal. Also, my nurse uniform is even more unflattering than normal with the bump so it pronounces my weight gain!

DaisyLand · 24/01/2018 15:30

Juice woke baby up for 20 mins or so. Anxious mummy feeling less anxious. God I hope he’s as chilled as now when he’s born !

My colleagues haven’t said much , I’m only taking 6m so maybe that’s why. Also things have been crap in the company (half the office has been made redundant ) so we’ve been quite down lately about it. We’ve done some desks moving today so I used the “I can’t move the desks I’m pregnant I need slaves “ trick Smile bless them I treat them as I treat my dh Smile

ClaireBear1986 · 24/01/2018 16:13

I guess everyone is different, just expected to see movements by now due to him kicking so hard and moving so often. He has me awake all night fidgeting. Probably will happen when I least expect it and really freak me out. Ha.

We must have the opposite reactions then @rosegarden45, as people are shocked that I am due in April and a lot of people don't even think I am pregnant. A few people commented on how they just thought I had over indulged at Xmas. Ha ha.
I actually think my bump seems to look totally different depending on what I wear. At the end of the day, as long as the babies are healthy then who cares!!

Yes @DaisyLand I have my 1st class tonight. Really not to sure what to expect, so feeling a bit nervous. Glad you have commented on how good they are as that has made me feel a lot better now :)
Glad the juice woke little man up and calmed your nerves!! Enjoy your class tonight as well :)

olicat · 24/01/2018 18:54

Claire I've been seeing kicks from 22 weeks which I was really shocked about, honestly thought that didn't happen until 30+ weeks! I screamed the first time it happened 😂 it only happens when I'm lying on my side and the baby has a good poke of the side that's facing up. But then he has super quiet days which could be to do with the anterior placenta - always a bit stressful although the latest trick is punching me in the bladder which I can honestly say is one of the most uncomfortable sensations I've ever felt... all good practice for childbirth I guess 😐

Fairfax that would drive me mad, tell your colleagues to set an alarm to go off every two hours during the night of their next holiday and then see how they feel about mat leave!

MissYeti · 24/01/2018 20:17

I'll agree with bump changing shape/size depending on what I'm wearing! (See pics lol) Teddys been moving since about 17 weeks and I've been seeing him move since maybe week 22/23. I'm 27 weeks now and he kicks so hard that my whole belly jolts! I wouldn't worry about not seeing them though, as long as you can feel them moving you know theyre alright :)

I've been seeing kicks from about 24 weeks however kiddos movements have got more subtle and only does big kicks if I'm resting my arms on the top of my stomach. Maybe he's trying to kick them off? 😂 I even got a video of my tummy moving, my mum was amazed by it!

My bump actually looks smaller now at 30 weeks then it did at 20 weeks. Pic in the check shirt was taken today because I was so shocked the shirt would do up! (Pre-pregnancy shirt that was tight!)

The atmosphere at my work is all because we've had some changes that people aren't too happy about and the management that actually used to reprimand people have all gone so it's a bit of a free for all. However I cannot fault them with how they've been regarding my pregnancy, they've left me to get on with my work and don't question my judgement but always ask me how I'm feeling and if I need anything. If I bring my mat leave forward by 2 weeks it means I'll finish work in 3 weeks time - that's waaay too close for comfort!

Bumps looking good ladies!

I can sometimes see baby move but not all that often - I find when I want to look the my don’t want to move haha!
This also occurs when DH tries to feel some kicks - being awkward already 😂

harrietm87 · 25/01/2018 09:17

I think I first felt movements around 18 weeks, and could see them from around 20. I've noticed that the movements recently have been less like kicks/jabs and more kind of rolling and stretching? Last night it looked like an alien was in there! Everyone is different though - maybe if you can't see it means you have extra strong abs!

TrigsToo · 25/01/2018 10:17

I've been feeling movement since 15 wks, am 27 today and haven't seen any movements at all. And some of them have been so big they've knocked my hands up if they've been resting on my bump. So definitely an individual thing I think.

I normally listen to my music pretty loud in my car and yesterday got a really strong reaction to one of the songs! Obviously not sure if he could actually hear, but it was funny to think of him rocking out in there GrinGrinGrin

rosegarden45 · 25/01/2018 10:40

Has anyone picked up the Bounty Mum to be pack that you can get from boots and other places? I've got 2 of the Emma's diary ones which didn't have a huge amount in them but did get a free pack of nappies. Just wondering if the Bounty one is worth trekking into town for?

Also - anyone looked into hypnobirthing? I have a class tonight, looking forward to it, not sure what to expect. Husband really doesn't want to come so it's taking a lot of persuasion for him to even consider it
