Thanks ladies. I don't think it helps I don't feel very prepared yet as I've not felt 100% recently so having your EDD moved by 3 weeks has sent me into panic mode!

trigs if your not happy and it's enough to worry you call, your unit will not mind you going in for monitoring at all. They always say they'd rather you come in 10 times to be reassured than not go in at all.

It's so hard if they've not developed a pattern yet. But you know what relatively normal for you. Good luck let us know how you get on x

TrigsToo · 16/01/2018 15:40

Well, I went along since the movements I'd felt again felt like the wrong position (in fact some of them hurt me). Firstly I got told off a lot because I didn't have my notes (I forgot them this morning and when I checked at the physio thing they said I wouldn't need them so I didn't stop home to pick them up).

They got me in really fast and his heartbeat was fine, so phew! I think it is just that he's groom comfy info an awkward position. Then I had to wait around for ages and then they said that they want me to go in for an emergency ultrasound and I should be contacted info 24-72 hours for that.

Feeling a bit daft, or perhaps a bit overly dramatic, but there we go.

Sunshine, thanks for the advice. I hope all goes will with your little one/your heath, and you'll find the chance to get yourself sorted. Or at least as sorted as anyone can be!

LivLemler · 16/01/2018 16:51

Don't feel silly Trigs, it's so worrying when the movements change. Hopefully you won't be waiting long for the ultrasound, and I'm sure you feel much better now you've heard the heartbeat.

We just got a wedding invitation for when I'll be 35 weeks. Gulp!

MrsDishavingaB · 16/01/2018 17:08

I have a massive panic attack whenever I haven't felt baby kick in a while and then he gives me a swift kick in the gut.

I have felt very internal kicks a few times recently and today he's been kicking so low it feels like he's trying to come out 😳

@LivLemler that's a pretty late wedding invite isn't it? Do you think you'll go?
My friend is having an adults only wedding in September and I don't even know if i want to go to that 🙁

LivLemler · 16/01/2018 17:12

I think we will MrsD - it's DH's cousin, and I know he regrets that he doesn't see more of that side of the family. It's only a couple of hours away and in a really nice hotel, so once the meal is done and I'm wrecked, I'll just head to the room and leave him to it. Plus I've been really well so far, so will be optimistic that'll continue.

My sister's wedding is in July and I'm much more apprehensive about that! At least at this one I won't have to juggle a baby, just my massive frame!

harrietm87 · 16/01/2018 21:03

@LivLemler my sister in law is getting married at the end of July and I'm a bridesmaid. The other 3 bridesmaids are all stick thin and I just know I'm going to be an elephant!!! The dress has already been bought and I'm paranoid about fitting into it, not to mention whether or not I'm gonna be able to wear a bra with it and how t will work with breastfeeding etc! 3 months is totally enough time to lose the baby weight right?!

TrigsToo · 16/01/2018 21:25

I'm getting married in August! It was all booked before baby came along. Must be mad!

LivLemler · 16/01/2018 21:58

That's what I'm banking on harriet! I'm one of 4 BMs for my sister, and the others are all gorgeous young things. Already agreed with my sister that if I'm bfing I'll change after the meal, as the dress isn't suitable at all. It is lovely though, and fortunately very forgiving around the waist!

rosegarden45 · 17/01/2018 12:29

Trigs - I've had the same thing where I forgot my notes and got made to feel like a child by the midwife who was shouting at me for not having them! I had just moved house and had a 9am scan appointment so was rushing about and totally forgot them. She was horrid to me about it. In my opinion it is ridiculous that they get so cross because all the information is on their computer system anyway so a few scraps of paper in a file aren't worth much to them anyway 🙈 I've tried to remember them ever since but it hasn't helped my relationship with midwives who I'm really struggling with. I feel like they are very patronisising and bossy and it puts me off going for appointments or into clinic. Not good because I've had extra appointments due to diabetes risk. Currently awaiting results from my second GTT which was yesterday morning.

On another topic... I'm popping into the supermarket to grab some lunch and feel so enormous, these parking spaces are tight. What is the general consensus on when we can start using parent spaces? I'm worried I'll come out of the shop and someone will be parked next to my car and I won't be able to get back in!!

olicat · 17/01/2018 13:28

Trigs You did absolutely the right thing - I did the same on Friday as had been concerned. Turns out my pesky anterior placenta is muffling A LOT of the movement! I came from work but I must say they were absolutely fine with me with having my notes. Ultimately it only took 10 mins of their time to check the heartbeat and my wee/blood pressure so while I felt a bit sheepish I'm still glad I did it as the reassurance that evening and over the weekend was priceless. Baby has evidently moved now as am getting booted.

Got a midwife appointment this week so I'm sure it'll get flagged up that I'm anxious, but telling myself that at the moment I am the only advocate the baby has as I'm the only one who knows its movements/pattern.

olicat · 17/01/2018 13:30

With me NOT having my notes I meant. Literally can't write anything without a typo!!

Aspenn17 · 17/01/2018 14:27

Trigs- glad everything is ok and congrats on your wedding! How's the planning going?

Rosegarden- had that exact convo about baby parking spaces with my husband yesterday, went for brekkie after our growth scan and I could barely get in the car someone had parked so close 🙈

27 wk growth scan went great, Bean is measuring perfect. She actually stuck her tounge out at us twice which was hilarious!

My nips started 'working' this morning! 😳 I know some of you mentioned yours had too, but I was still quite shocked! Wasn't expecting that for ages yet!

Thelostsock · 17/01/2018 15:19

I was wondering the same about parking spaces! I couldn't get out at the supermarket either, and just sat in the car for a bit completely unable to work out what to do Hmm Obviously eventually I just moved to another space. It's a funny one though, because I wouldn't want to be shouted at for parking in a parent and child space, think I'd cry!

How is everyone getting on with appetite? I was expecting to start feeling really hungry by now, but there hasn't been any change and still just using it as an excuse to eat cake rather than actually being hungry

FairfaxAikman · 17/01/2018 15:41

How about placing your scan image on the dashboard like a disabled badge to make it clear you aren't taking the piss?

Personally I just park further out and try and get an end space. Can't really justify the spaces near the store when I am still racing my dogs.

MrsDishavingaB · 17/01/2018 15:58

I think to parking thing totally depends on the place you're parking and whether they've got any jobsworths working there. ASDA fined a heavily pregnant lady last year for using a parent and child space because she wasn't a parent yet. Spaces are so small and cars are so much larger now that the only place I can guarantee being able to get out of my car is Costco cos it's American sized spaces!

@Thelostsock my appetite has reduced again, I had about 4 weeks of being able to eat normal sized portions again and now all I want to do is snack and not have full meals. I think this has what's caused me to lose so much weight...my pre-pregnancy coat which wouldn't do up a month or so ago now does up round my bump 😳 and my wedding rings are loose

Aspenn17 · 19/01/2018 08:58

Morning all, quick question- what happens at the 30 week midwife appointment? Trying to work out if it's worth DH taking time off work to come or if it's just a quick 5 min in-out job like my 16 week one was? When do they start talking to you about birth plans?

harrietm87 · 19/01/2018 09:44

aspenn my hospital notes have a plan at the front saying what happens when, so I can check for you later. Think birth plan comes later - maybe 34 weeks?

Also may be different for your hospital but mine asked me not to bring DH to my appointments unless a specific reason (like I needed him to translate) as the midwives prefer to see women alone, so I wasn't planning to take mine to any.

ClaireBear1986 · 19/01/2018 10:04

Every area is probably different, but the NHS states that the birthing plan etc will be discussed at the 34 week appointment.

The 31 week app looks very similar to my 25 week app as it says:

You will have an appointment at 31 weeks if this is your first baby.

Your midwife or doctor should:
review, discuss and record the results of any screening tests from the last appointment
use a tape measure to measure the size of your uterus
measure your blood pressure and test your urine for protein

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/antenatal-appointment-schedule/?

Hope that helps :)

Aspenn17 · 19/01/2018 10:44

Ah thanks Clairbear and Harrietm, will tell him not to worry about coming then! 👍🏼

Testar0ssa · 19/01/2018 12:25

My DH didn't come to any of my midwife appointments for my first except one right towards the end when midwife talked me through the various pain relief options. I wanted another pair of ears to process that information so we could talk it through afterwards. I was aware of the possibility that he might have to be my advocate if I was (as it turned out I was) largely uncommunicative as i concentrated on breathing through contractions to the exclusion of everything else.
However if you're doing NCT or other you'll have probably had that briefing together anyway.

And while we're talking of partners, my DH (like most birthing partners) really struggled with the fact that I was in pain during labour and there is little they can do about it other than being there. It is worth having a conversation about that in preparation beforehand.

mmai · 19/01/2018 21:53

Does anyone have a growth chart from their midwife? I'm starting to panic a bit as my fundal height is measuring less than 10th percentile. Seeing her in 2 weeks am hoping will grow abit more then!

MrsDishavingaB · 19/01/2018 22:02

@mmai do you not have a growth chart taped into your notes with the centile lines already charted on it?

mmai · 19/01/2018 22:11

She only sent me it this week! First plot was at 26 weeks
Is this too late?

MrsDishavingaB · 19/01/2018 22:28

No they only started charting me at 28 weeks.
I've just had it stuck in my notes since my 12 week scan and they've only just started plotting on it.

I wouldn't worry too much about your fundal measurement, you may just have a small bump because you carry it differently. If they were worried they'd send you for growth scans. There is so much that can affect your fundal measurement I wouldn't freak out until they seem worried :)

Testar0ssa · 19/01/2018 22:43

Completely agree with MrsD : please don't worry about the over the bump measurement. It means absolutely nothing and only serves to freak mothers out. Even measurements taken in an ultrasound have a significant margin of error.
