Congratulations SVRT!!

milney25 · 21/12/2017 22:07

I filled in a self refer letter when I had an early scan (after some spotting). Has anyone else done this? I've not done anything through the GP Confused

amzq87 · 21/12/2017 22:15

I haven't either @milney25 - here you just ring the midwifery base for an appointment for when you are around about 9 weeks gone. I rang them when I was 4+5 (or thereabouts) and my appointment is the 3rd of Jan x

milney25 · 21/12/2017 22:33

Thanks @amzq87 I think now I've found this group I'm going to have none stop questions!

BertieBotts · 21/12/2017 22:37

It depends on area whether you phone the midwife station direct or go through GP IIRC. Phone GP first if you're not sure and they'll soon redirect you if it's not right.

SVRT19674 · 21/12/2017 22:44

Thanks! Smile

Babydreaming · 22/12/2017 06:39

I havent been to the GP yet let alone been to midwives! I’m moving early - mid jan so will make a drs appointment in my new area. I don’t mind if my 1st scan is a little later as then it’s less of a wait til the 20th! Booking in appointment wasn’t that useful last time, just lots of questions! I wouldn’t worry too much about nothing much happening yet. It’s boring but nothing really needs doing this early on!

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 22/12/2017 06:45

With my DS I needed to make a doctor’s appointment and he filled out a form which then went to the midwife. I then got my booking appointment through the post but I’ve done a bit of a google and there’s a midwife number I can try so was going to do that this time.

I was going to wait until after Christmas as I’m only 5 weeks but lots of you are getting your appointments for a few weeks time so maybe I should ring today Confused

BertieBotts · 22/12/2017 06:58

Sleeper, you're fine to wait until after Christmas, remember some of the ladies are closer to 8 weeks already.

StrawberryLemonade · 22/12/2017 07:07

Congratulations SVRT!

I have my midwife booking on 11th jan I’ll be over 10 weeks then. She’s coming out to the house which didn’t happen where I lived last time! Still contemplating an early scan though but I’ll wait until after Christmas then decide.

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 22/12/2017 07:07

Thanks Bertie, isn’t it funny how your memory plays tricks on you? Can’t remember what I did with my DS. I feel like a FTM all over again! Grin

amzq87 · 22/12/2017 07:24

First time actually being sick this morning and not just feeling it - yuck! Ah well, last day of work before Christmas!!

Hope all you lovely ladies have a great day xx

milney25 · 22/12/2017 07:45

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle yes I'm just over 8 weeks, so you can probably wait. I've woke up to a bit more spotting today. Has anyone else had this throughout?

spydie · 22/12/2017 08:08

Have my booking on the 28th when I'll be 8 weeks exactly. I phoned up midwives directly at about 5 weeks as knew they would probably be busy between Xmas and NY! Last time I saw GP first who referred me and he put the wrong date for LMP, so I was 6.5 weeks at my booking!

Those with DC's... will you take them with you to booking app? My DH wants to come but we have no family near by to look after DD so really are a bit stuck. She's not in childcare in the holidays either, and our CM is closed anyway. I'm hoping it will be ok and if anyone objects or she starts being silly he can take her out. Confused

BertieBotts · 22/12/2017 08:43

Oh, I've got no chance of remembering what I did with DS as it was nearly 10 years ago! Shock

StrawberryLemonade · 22/12/2017 09:37

@spydie my booking appointment is at home and DH will be at work so DD will definitely be there. At least at home I can stick the tv on to distract her if needed! I don’t think it’ll be a problem if you take yours either. They must be used to it.

Gizzymum · 22/12/2017 09:43

@spydie I'll definitely be taking my DS with me to all midwife appts as I'm still on mat leave from him being born. He's only 7mths and is relatively good (at the moment) at occupying himself during appointments etc.

CumbrianExile · 22/12/2017 10:03

I have just completed the form to refer to the midwives. Starting to feel real now Smile

I am hoping not to take DS to any appts, but I am sure it will be fine for those that do.

Babydreaming · 22/12/2017 10:31

Just had my scan!

I’m 6w2d with EDD 15th august and there was a Heartbeat! Lovely result just before Xmas :)

The scanning lady told me I have to refer myself to the midwives now and not wait til mid jan when we move as I was planning to do!

milney25 · 22/12/2017 10:42

That's amazing news @Babydreaming! What a nice Christmas present Smile

BertieBotts · 22/12/2017 10:51

How exciting! Love all these heartbeat stories :)

Sugarskulllover · 22/12/2017 11:15

I've had my scan this morning! I feel so overwhelmed and excited! She measured me a week behind so 6+2 but she said they'll 100% confirm at my dating scan.
Seeing that little heartbeat was the best feeling! I wanted to hug the sonographer Blush
She also let me have a couple of pictures.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Whichoneisit · 22/12/2017 11:30

Excellent news on the scans ladies! Did they scan you internally?

I haven’t booked in with the midwife yet. I’m going to wait until my scan next Saturday and then make a GP appointment in the New Year.

spydie · 22/12/2017 11:36

Phew glad I'm not the only one taking a DC!! I know scans is a big no no but luckily that will probably be when she's at CM.

Really want my DH there as I had a horrible birth last time with some lasting effects and I'm already worried about this one, and tbh am seriously thinking of requesting a section. I know I will be a mess at the appointment so need a sane person present!!

Emmasmum2013 · 22/12/2017 11:36

Congrats on the scans!!!! :)
I'm still having a bit of spotting.
But definitely feeling more pregnant by the day. Starting to feel sick now when I get too hungry.

Do you think if I tell the midwife about the bleeding at my booking appointment on the 29th that they'll let me have a scan? I'll be 6 weeks 4 days by then.
