Babydreaming haha, that's good timing indeed. I'm a bit worried about having such a small age gap but I suppose the upside is that I get the newborn days out the way in one go nearly.

Sugarskulllover · 11/12/2017 20:44

Thank you @StrawberryLemonade that's put my mind at ease for now! I'm sure it will all come back ok. Just felt so emotional earlier about it. My DH has been telling me keep calm cus there isn't anything we can do yet so just got to keep positive!

Whichoneisit · 11/12/2017 20:53

Popping my head around the door and whispering hello. I’ve been lurking since last Tuesday. LMP was 10/11 so due mid August all being well. Think that makes me 4+3.
DC3. One previous mmc so I’m feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing and plan to have an early scan but trying to hold off until 8 weeks.
I was in Florida in July so am also a little bit worried about the zika risk. It is a very small risk though.

MrsS1984 · 11/12/2017 20:55

@sugarskulllover We went to Aruba in early September which also features on the watch list. Both of us came back with no symptoms and just decided to let nature take its course and my edd is 14/08. Like you I'll tell the midwife but hoping all will be fine!!!

somersetsinger · 11/12/2017 20:56

Hi Tino, I'm still breastfeeding my 19 month old. She seems fairly committed to the cause, although I don't think she's getting much milk. I'll continue as long as we both want and see what happens.

Have been thinking of AJ89 and mamabearoxox today. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you. The uncertainty of the first trimester is just cruel.

Gizzymum · 11/12/2017 21:49

@bobcat85 You're worried about the small age gap? I've a 6mth old DS 😱

Sugarskulllover · 11/12/2017 22:08

@MrsS1984 let's hope we'll be ok Grin

badb · 11/12/2017 23:14

Hi all. Can I join? I just got a positive today. Three days late, but just had a feeling. I have an almost 2 year old girl already. It’s weird - it took us 15 months to conceive her, but this was the first month properly trying for a second. I had expected a long wait, so I’m not quite sure I’m prepared! A bit of a shock. I’m an elder Berry as well - 36 having badblet, and will be 39 having this one, if all goes well. Due date is 18 August, according to d’internet. Not too many symptoms - a bit bloated, sore boobs, maybe a bit queasy but could also be my imagination. Going to ring the hospital to book in this week (not in the UK, so a different system). They offer an 8 week reassurance scan as part of their package, which is good.

Stressing already about Christmas. Pretty sure I won’t get away with just pretending to drink - going to the in laws for dinner and they are very generous with the wine. I could start laying the dental problems groundwork now I suppose - I do have gum problems, so I might be able to pass off the ‘strong antibiotics’ line.

NelleB · 12/12/2017 05:13

@badb my sister is getting married Christmas Eve , has three BFPs she 23rd August and having to take the antibiotics lie with me to the wedding. Even though I'm in complete denial 🙈😂 x

Subo2018 · 12/12/2017 06:13

Hello to all the new ladies :).
Last night was tough. Woke about 1.30am with the worst heartburn I've ever had, I appear to jump aboard the nausea train and I think I might be getting tonsillitis. Can we take off the shelf tablets? I'm going to gargle with salt water but I feel like I need to take something strong. How's everyone else sleeping?

StrawberryLemonade · 12/12/2017 06:21

I guess it depends what medication you want to take Subo! There's a website about medication in pregnancy if you Google "bumps medication in pregnancy" you can search for stuff and check safety.

I've been up since 5am with toddler who has just gone back to sleep and my alarm has just gone off for my long day at work. Want to have a little cry!

Subo2018 · 12/12/2017 06:26

@StrawberryLemonade thanks! I will def check that out. Want to try catch it before it becomes something more.

Oh no, I feel for you! You must be so tired. Hope the day goes quickly for you :).

TinoTheArtisticMouse · 12/12/2017 06:41

Glad i'm not the only one Somerset!

SpriteGirl · 12/12/2017 07:00

Morning all

Welcome and congratulations to all new BFPs.

Just had a horrible experience in the shower nearly passed out. Had to finish rinsing my hair sitting down and then call for my husband to get me out. Currently drying off on the bed. Can’t really start getting ready for work yet.

Have been doing so well symptoms wise but doc did say about week 6 and I’m 5 and a bit now. Hope this isn’t every morning I'm not sure how I’ll cope Confused

Hettyturnip · 12/12/2017 07:56

Oh no, poor you strawberry, can’t even power up on coffee to get you through! And take it easy Sprite, I fainted at work last time I was pregnant and had to make up something about low blood pressure - do you need to drive to work?

I’ve got a cold and was up loads in the night either blowing nose, going for a wee or getting another drink. Not too much gagging this morning which is good, or is it bad??? I’ve got my early scan today so I guess i’ll find out! Fx it’s not too early, I have irregular cycles so i won’t be as far along as they think.

babyH3O · 12/12/2017 08:54

Subo - I hear pineapple juice is good for throat problems. A natural remedy.

I'm really struggling with nausea, I need to eat constantly to try to fend it off. 5+6. I'm going to be the size of a house at this rate.

Babydreaming · 12/12/2017 09:05

@subo2018 be careful with cold remedies as a lot of them aren’t suitable in pregnancy! From what I remember the only thing I couldn’t take last time was paracetamol!

@hettyturnip how exciting that one of us has their first early scan!! Fingers crossed they can see HB. Let us know how it goes!

@babyh30 I had the exact same thing in my last pregnancy!! I put on loads of weight in 1st trimester (when you’re not supposed to gain much at all!) as I just kept eating to make the nausea go away! The good thing was though by 2nd trimester my weight gain plateaued so overall I didn’t actually gain an excessive amount and lost it all after baby arrived so don’t stress too much. If it helps then eat and worry about it later :)

Babydreaming · 12/12/2017 09:07

How strict is everyone being with food/caffeine intake?

So far I haven’t had any caffeine since getting my BFP but have eaten cold meats eg ham/salami! I think once I’m passed 1st trimester I’ll start drinking a bit of caffeine though as I miss it!

SmashyCup · 12/12/2017 09:10

Some caffeine is fine. I can't function with none! I am drinking weak tea but have cut out the coffee because the decent stuff is so strong that that one cup would take up the whole daily caffeine allowance!

SpriteGirl · 12/12/2017 09:19

Thanks @Hetty yes I have driven in to work (in the big freeze of all days!) am feeling tired and nauseous but I'll live! How exciting that you have your scan. Hoping it all goes well for you Smile

Caffeine I have reduced my three cups of tea to one a day. I'm having less than the recommended amount but I'd rather be safe first trimester. Chocolate also has caffeine and I'm not normally a big chocolate eater but with all the Christmas goodies around I'm just aware of it.

I think ham is fine because it's cooked but salami is a cured meat and so should be avoided in pregnancy?

Subo2018 · 12/12/2017 09:30

@babyH3O @Babydreaming thanks! I'll get some pineapple juice at lunch and I'll speak to the pharmacist in boots and see what they recommend Smile. Looks like I'm not going to my Christmas party now as I don't want to make it worse so at least I don't need to think of an excuse as to why I'm not drinking

SmashyCup · 12/12/2017 09:42

Here's the section on caffeine in the NHS guidance. There's not a lot of caffeine in chocolate so it's fine as long as you don't eat loads! Smile

DuchessofStBridget · 12/12/2017 10:03

@HettyTurnip I have a cold too - just after I commented to DH that I needed to make the most of this week before the nausea/tiredness kicks in. Good luck with the scan!

Good point about moderating chocolate over Christmas - as I'm still allowing myself a cup of coffee every day it gives me a reason not to overindulge. Unless it's Ferraro Roche, of course...

I had the flu jab when I was pregnant with my DD, but I was a bit further along at this point (about 12 weeks). Does anybody know if it would be offered at this early stage?

bobcat85 · 12/12/2017 10:08

I didn't have any caffeine last pregnancy, I switched to decaffeinated tea and I don't drink coffee so I might do the same this time. Luckily the NHS say lion stamped eggs are fine now, really wanted them last time and now I can, which is good.

Didn't sleep too badly although the baby has been ill with teething so he was up a couple of times in the night. Been feeling a bit queasy and I've got a headache but not too bad apart from that.

YouCantBeSirius · 12/12/2017 10:12

Morning all. Had my first midwife appointment today. It wasn't my booking appointment which surprised me. It was just a quick info meeting. I was given various vitamins and my notes which are surprisingly small compared to my last pregnancy. I've been given various information leaflets and a few books too. Back in the beginning of January when I'll be 10 weeks for my booking appointment where I'll get my scan date.
