Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 12:30

Juicy - I'm with you - I don't finish until 11th May.

Thanks Mrs JB - a midwife friend of mine has just told me to go on all fours with my bum in the air and chest on the ground for five minutes morning and night.

What a treat for dh.

dejags · 20/04/2007 12:52

Thanks Westendwoman - I have an appointment for moxibustion next week. I have also been spending excessive amounts of time on all fours.

Today my colleagues organised a surprise babyshower for me. I was totally surprised - what a lovely gesture . I got a gift voucher, cards, balloons, sandwiches and cake. I was really touched.

Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 13:41

Mrs JB - I've just looked on the thread that you started about ECV and written down a list of questions for next week, if she hasn't turned.

Did you have ECV in the end? Or has your LO turned now?

aprilmeadow · 20/04/2007 13:46

YAY congrats to all of you on your last days. Now its time to RELAX!!!

MrsJB will post the Raspberry Leaf tablets that i didnt use to you today. They will only go in the bin as we are not having no.3!

LG&T, good news on getting a date.

Lupins, good to hear from you. How's Arlen doing?

LW, hope you have a lovely weekend with your friend. Sounds fun.

Pink, keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to turn bubs by having your bum in the air. I was due to have Ella turned last week had she not have put in an appearance. I wasnt looking forward to it, but if it works and can avoid a cs then....

anneme · 20/04/2007 13:55

Hooray - according to mw LO has now turned. Don't know if the exercises helped but I did this...

Do the inversion if you feel athletic enough. Don't do it if you have trouble breathing, with asthma, for instance. Ask your caregiver if there is any medical reason you shouldn't do this. Don't do it right after your breech baby has turned head down.

  1. Have a helper to brace your shoulders so you don't come down from the couch too fast.
  2. Have your knees on the edge of the couch.
  3. Come down slowly.
  4. Brace yourself on your forearms.
  5. Relax your belly.
  6. Relax your neck and head.
  7. Hold the pose for a minute or two, if you can.
  8. Crawl forward, bringing one knee down to the floor and then the other.
  9. Come to your hands and knees.
10. Sit up, on your heels and catch your breath.

It is from spinningbabies.blogspot.com/2007/02/how-to-do-inversion.html (sorry - useless at links) that someone suggested using before. Don't know if that made the difference but, apparently, LO is no longer transverse. Would definitely not recommend doing it on your own - I needed help getting down onto the floor in the first place. ANOTHER scan on Tues so will find out then if it is true that it has turned - suspect that consultant will still be pushing for a cs because of size....

We have had our night away prebaby - lovely hotel in Suffolk which was really good for DS and had lovely food and was just brilliant - sunny and yum. Feel quite relaxed now particularly since DS has gone back to work and I haven't (we teach in the same school).

Charley - what lovely pics. DD looks v angelic! The one of your little boys is lovely and, as someone said, it will be a really special pic for George when he is older. I hope the funeral etc goes alright - we will be thinking of you.

Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 14:02

Thanks anneme - that's really helpful, will try that one later tonight.

April - I am so jealous of you and your little girl - I bet you're so glad you don't have to think about all this any more!

My mum has just phoned and she's like, I don't think you should have the ECV. Its so hard trying to juggle everyone's opinions. When dh finally called and I told him, he said, oh a c-section, that's OK isn't it.

Er... no.

dejags · 20/04/2007 14:16

I have tried that one Anneme to no avail - thank you though and glad your LO is now the wrong way round . I think this baby is just too comfy where she is. My ribs are excruciatingly painful where she is headbutting me.

Ho Hum

dejags · 20/04/2007 14:22

Pinkjenny - My DH is also not too happy with the ECV. He is worried there will be complications for the most part.

I still haven't 100% decided. Let's see what next week brings.

Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 14:43

Dejags when are you due?

I think let's definitely wait and see. I can't do that chest on floor bum in the air thing for more than 30 seconds.

dejags · 20/04/2007 14:48

24/5 Pinkjenny.

I am glad that I am not the only one who finds that exercise really difficult. I thought I was going to explode when I tried

ShowOfHands · 20/04/2007 15:25

Oh no, they're having a tea party for me from 3.30pm. How embarrassing.

But there will be cake...

Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 15:27

I'm due 23/5. Fingers crossed for us and our lazy babies!

Seriously, its so hard - the guidance says don't rest your thighs on your bump - I mean, how in the name of god are you supposed to do it.

Everyone keeps saying to me, 'plenty of time for her to turn'. The consultant didn't seem to think that though. Did yours?

MKG · 20/04/2007 16:08

Good morning all. I slept like a rock last night and I feel great. We finally have sunshine here in the Garden State, and the windows are open. It's cool and breezy. Ahh. I need a pedicure so bad.

I finished knitting the baby's blanket last night. It is my first knitting project and I am so pleased with myself. I've been working on it for 6 weeks, and now I feel like I have nothing to do. I need to get a good book, that has nothing to do with cervical dilation.

largeginandtonic · 20/04/2007 16:09

Hello all, have been flitting in and out today. Every time i log on something happens and i have to abandon it.

Glad you are all well and leaving work now. SOH the tea party will be lovely (they may have gingerbread...)

Dejags like you of im just accepting the idea of a section, nothing we can do and at will be nice to have a date to work to. 3 weeks today! Im hoping for a nice civilised cutting session...

Am still ridiculously hormonal, could cry at anything. Not sure i have ever been this bad, must be the stress of everything else i think. Is nice to be out and about with friends i havent seen for ages though.

DS#3 has an eye test with dh at 4.50 so we have to take them all in to town.....may bribe with a mcdonalds to make it bearable

cameroonmama · 20/04/2007 19:17

Hope you enjoyed your tea party SOH, tea and cake, I guess that's librarians for you and I'm glad you are feeling better, but I really wanted to start an 'Am i in labour thread' for you, oh well soon enough I suppose.

You ladies with breech babies should all get together down on all 4 hours and video it, I should think it would make for interesting watching Seriously though, I hope all the jiggling gets them to turn soon enough.

MKG I'm glad you are finally getting some sunshine, its been another glorious day here and we have been at toddlers, then a lovely picnic in the park.

Benson, please do join us on the 11th, the more the merrier

And congrats to dejags on your last day at work..

Right I am off for a girls night out to a local curry house to enjoy myself and to prove there is still life left in the old dog yet..

Pinkjenny · 20/04/2007 19:31

Meggle hasn't posted about her ds since 30th March - does anyone know how she is?

I'm really sorry I looked at the threads on ECV - sounds horrendous.

On a positive note, my dad picked up my Bugaboo today so I'm off to play with it. My mum wants us to push it up and down the street, which maybe is taking it a bit far...

Loads of regulars not posted today - wonder if any new babies are on their way??

Mrsjaffabiffa · 20/04/2007 19:44

Evening all....

Cam, ummmm love curry, not too much cumin though, might start things off.

AM, Thank YOU.

lg&t, hope the eye test went ok. H had his this afternoon, rolling on from this stye business. His vision is perfect so no glasses, I think he was secretly dissapointed, bless. They won't do anymore now, he is just going to be prone to them and the consultant says hopefully he'll grow out of them, keep the eye clean and do not let him get too tired or run down. he's 4.5?

Pinkjen, sorry I dissapeared, yes my LO turned between 32 and 34 weeks I did spend a fair bit of time on my knees with huge bum in the air. Well, all of eastenders most evenings anyway. lol To be honest I'm not convinced it made any difference, my MW said that it is very common with 3rd or more pg'cys for baby to be in all sorts of positions because the uterous muscles are so soft they can move about really easy. I'm still fighting a little as it's in OP (back to back) oh painful labour with ds like this so I'm concsious of trying not to slouch on sofa and not sleep on back to try and get bub forward. Not the end of the world though.

FWIW, if baby hadn't of turned I would have tried the procedure, other wise I would have always said, what if!

Hope you were feeling upto cake SOH, and ate lots. ummmmmm

Hope tyg's ok, she's been quiet for a few days, enjoying the good weather and her mat leave I hope. lg&t have you heard how she is via text?

twelveyeargap · 20/04/2007 20:43

Hello, hello!

Mum is here so I've been reading when I can, but haven't really had time to post. Finally found some nice fabric for the nursery today with little willow green polka dots. Bought tons of the stuff as it was super cheap. Got yet more paint samples...

Gotta go again. Hope you're all well. x

scootermum · 20/04/2007 20:53

I texted TYG earlier but no resonse as yet-(not that would get it as no reception n village to speak of)Her Mum is here this week so she is maybe busy with her-hope she is ok though...

Did you get your parcel SOH?(if not my patience with the Royal Mail will run out you understand and I may stage a protest outside the post office)
Hope your Tea Party was lovely and congrats on finishing work!

I would take the Bugaboo up the street! It must be test driven and shown off properly!I have taken my Phil and Teds round all the neighbours-they can stop taking the Mickey out of me now, as DD's Bebecar off roader was approx the size of a landrover, and the subject of many jokes in the village..Particularly when I used to be seen struggling to wedge it into my old Ford Ka...

Thanks MKG and all re the tea..might have a go at the tablets, but in two minds as dont want to risk bringing baby on early.DH is stressing to high heaven re his exams and a newborn would certainly knock his revision timetable off kielter!
Gonna get hold of some Arnica for after though..

I am shattered tonight as DD has been up since 6.30 and not asleep at all all day..We went to see our hopefully new house again, (survey on ours and ours on the new one being done next week so fingers crossed all will be well), then to Tescos and the Garden centre, then for a walk.Made tea, potted up a Blueberry plant, done some laundry-and was going to do some NVQ but dont think can face it on my first proper day of leave..am babysitting for DD's 'best friend', (from our antenatal class) tomorrow so will take with me and cane some there instead assuming he stays asleep bless him..

scootermum · 20/04/2007 20:55

Cross post there!Glad you are ok TYG and have found nusery bits...

scootermum · 20/04/2007 20:59

Hope trip to town went ok Largegandt..a visit to Mcdonalds makes your day yknow Shamelessly plugging for the 'family business' there..

Im sure it probably is all the stress making you emotional hon-it would be enough to floor anyone, never mind a heavily preggers lady..chin up sweets, not long now..

Mrsjaffabiffa · 20/04/2007 21:03

Added our bit into the pot today for the golden arches too scoot. Although not sure it counts being in France?

OP posts:
scootermum · 20/04/2007 21:20

It all counts Mrs JB!DH due to go to Paris actually the week before my EDD to discuss pricing strategies with the head of French Mcd's..I have vetoed this journey however although have an inkling that he still thinks he is going..may have to resort to confiscating his passport as it would be just my luck to go into labour whilst he was gadding about oblivious on the Champs Elysees talking about adding half a euro to le Big Mac or whatever he does..(I realised today that Ive no real idea what DH's job really involves-terrible of me)

Off to bed now I think..DH on a revision course tomorrow so will be another full on day with DD I fear..im praying she wakes up later than 6.30 am and for some sort of nap during the day..(for both of us!)

twelveyeargap · 21/04/2007 03:46

I know they say your body "remembers" your labour on subsequent children, but does it really need to remind me about the hour?

Have been waking up at 1.30am-ish for the last week - which is the time I went into labour with DD1. Wake up, heart racing, wide awake and restless. It's very annoying. Can usually get back to sleep within the hour, but tonight there is a rave on in Alexandra Palace and the sodding bassline of the music is making my heart race even more. Just got up to check on the interweb what time it finishes... 6.30am. Great.

It's payback time for parties I had when I was younger and invited DJs over and and kept my neighbours awake. Bugger.

And to be fair, if I hadn't been up the duff, I probably would have been tempted to go. You know, one of those pathetic almost-30-somethings who turns up at youngsters' gigs trying to relive my youth. Instead, I'm drinking hot chocolate in my living room and wondering how to make ear plugs stay in my ears.

Did I mention DH was drinking after work and is now snoring and oblivious to me roaming around the house? He woke up about an hour ago and asked me why I was in a bad mood. I couldn't help mentioning that being drunk makes him completely useless to me if I go into labour. I think it's foot down time. I haven't minded him going out without me, but from now on, he's going to have to have one or two and get himself home. The shame of the midwife arriving and him stinking of beer - I mean, apart from the obvious problem of him not being capable of supporting me and me never letting him forget it as long as he lives...

Boo hoo, I'm tired. Will pop on over the weekend and reply to you all personally. I feel like I have cotton wool in my head.

InTheseShoes · 21/04/2007 08:03

Good morning!

Ooooh, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week of maternity leave - it makes me wonder how I managed to fit work into my busy schedule! It got a lot easier going to school to drop and pick up ds as well, and I have enjoyed being a proper Mummy. I bobbed in with some paperwork and caught up with a few people who were all really pleased to see me, so that was nice as well.

I've been reading the April threads just to see how they are all getting along, and it is really encouraging! I need to think about some of the things to help in labour, I bought raspberry leaf tea, when can I start with this? What's the deal with clary sage?
