Hi @lovelybean28 where are you? I think I recall that in Ireland there's only one scan rather than 2. Here in England it's one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks (normally).

I'm holed up in a hotel in Dublin hiding from the storm. The journey to the airport and flight weren't much fun, I had the blowers on full blast and lots of deep breathing!

thinpigeon · 16/10/2017 18:19

Made my initial midwife appt today for a couple of weeks time - will be 7 weeks, then she said full booking appt will be at home around 10 weeks and scan around 12 weeks which will make it start of December I guess...

RockinRobinTweets · 16/10/2017 18:25

Got an early scan for next Thursday to date where I am. Lmp puts me at 29th May but I think from taking a million tests that I'm later than that. I'm willing the week away now!

Hanz88 · 16/10/2017 18:43

Hi all, I'm new to this! I'm about 8 weeks with number 1 and apart from hubby and a gym friend who guessed no-one knows! I think my EDD is June 3, but have first scan in a month which will confirm. Finding the whole thing exciting, but petrifying!

HolyShmoly · 16/10/2017 18:46

Booking in appointment this morning. All good so far, I'm low risk and can go to my preferred hospital.
I've booked in my early scan for the 28th and my 16 week app for the 19th December. I should get my 12 week scan in the post soon.
It's starting to feel a bit more real.

I'm quite glad that I had a half day too - the weird yellow sky was creeping me out.

SylvesterTheCat · 16/10/2017 19:08

Congrats hanz!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 16/10/2017 19:12

CuppaSarah i am genuinely so sorry to read that Sad look after yourself hun xx

Sictransitgloria · 16/10/2017 20:35

Went to the GP today, he had the bedside manner of a mollusc.

Completely pointless. He asked me who I lived with and gave me the flu jab. Said I may hear from the midwives at 10 weeks but if not to ring the surgery to get them to chase it. Argh.

Opensesame1 · 16/10/2017 20:40

I had an early scan today as I was having bad pains in my side so they wanted to rule out ectopic. Got to see the wee bean in the womb where it should be and the faintest wee heartbeat fluttering away. Doc confirmed this is perfectly normal as I am only 6 weeks.. quite reassuring to see it on the screen and make it all real.

Sending hugs @CuppaSarah .. it’s such a worrying time.. xx

nattergal · 16/10/2017 21:18

@Sictransitgloria I had almost the exact same experience at the gp this morning. I think I was expecting a urine test or something but they just took my details and said a midwife would be in touch by week 8

BubbleFrog · 16/10/2017 21:25

I'm also new! BFP yesterday after two years of trying so over the moon! Am very worried though as i had a day 21 progesterone and it came back quite low so there is a chance it may not work out :( Still fingers crossed!
I will be due the 25th if it all works out! GP first thing tomorrow morning!

Sictransitgloria · 16/10/2017 21:55

@nattergal honestly, what is the point? Sitting in a waiting room full of sick people who actually need to see a GP...just think it's a waste tbh. Apparently I will see him at 28, 32, 36 and 40 weeks?

Phryne · 17/10/2017 00:37

@CuppaSarah big hugs xx

@Sictransit When I had DD the midwife service was overstretched hence the GP appointments. My first one was utterly useless (turned a routine thing into a big mess so I missed a flight) so I switched GP by just booking with someone else after that. All the appointments were a bit underwhelming, I found. They're really just to touch base in case anything's going dramatically wrong.

Oh, and a general warning, which hopefully doesn't affect anyone: if you're on an NHS trust boundary, and know which hospital you want to go to, you should say straight away as all the trusts have different notes bundles and will want you scanned and blooded slightly differently. Spent my last pregnancy taking blood samples to another town on the bus as I wanted to go to the MLU 10min from my house, not the hospital an hour away...would have been easier to switch GP surgeries at the start and be in the right catchment.

Hope everyone is feeling well today! I am on hols with my mum and aunties so DD is bossing them all around and I am in bed with a packet of biscuits :)

DaisyFranceLynch · 17/10/2017 05:45

Hello! Could I join please? I've just got my BFP this morning.

I'm trying not to be too excited since I had a miscarriage earlier in the year and I am aware things could go wrong again. I feel as if it would be tempting fate to tell anyone or start making any plans (although I have woken up DH to tell him).

We started trying again last month and were expecting it to take a lot longer.

Elpheba · 17/10/2017 07:14

Morning everyone and welcome to the other BFPs! I gave into the temptation of the other cb digital from my original pack and tested this morning to "check" it had progressed (even though I know it can be so unreliable!) but am super relieved that it had moved to 2-3 weeks. Am going to call doctors in next few days. When they ask how far along I am, should I give it based on lmp or what I've worked out based on ovulation as I have long cycles? Am naughtily tempted to go with lmp as it means scan and appointments will be just that bit sooner... there's a difference of 5 days so I suppose not massive in the long run but every day feels like a month at the moment! So slow!

Mummyloves09 · 17/10/2017 07:35

Good morning ladies,

@CuppaSarah I am sooo sorry to hear, BIG hugsFlowers.

I just caught up with the chat. In regards to cramping and brown spotting I had this myself and dr said it was all normal. And apparently the uterus goes through the most changes in the first trimester.

Welcome all newcomers nice to see so many of us Smile

Have a great day ladiesSmile

Caspiana · 17/10/2017 07:42

Congratulations and welcome @daisyfrancelynch!

@elpheba it’s totally fine to give them your LMP, to be honest that is probably what they will ask you as opposed to how far along you are. Might be worth mentioning at booking in though as I think some tests/scans need to be done at a certain gestation to be reliable.

ChipsK · 17/10/2017 08:47

Morning ladies,

New here, got my BFP yesterday morning, really excited! This is my first so very nervous. Think I'm 4-5 weeks now.

What is the email address to send to request access to the super secret FB group?

Have a lovely day!

curliegirlie · 17/10/2017 09:01

Grr, the page reloaded in the middle of writing a post!

@elpheba - they’ll almost certainly go with LMP, that’s what they did with me, even though I estimate it’s 10 days out. It just means you effectively get the dating scan earlier, and they’ll revise the EDD on the basis of that anyway.

I’ve got my booking in appointment next Monday and intrigued about when my dating scan will be and what my EDD is moved to. I imagine my estimate is probably pretty accurate as I was using OPKs and had a day 21 test that month, which surely would have flagged up I was pregnant if I was any further along (I got my BFP 3 days later!)

Pool28 · 17/10/2017 10:28

Hello,

I’m a bit confused because my last period started on 11/09 which to me makes me 5 weeks but 2 of the apps on my phone say 6 weeks any of you have the same issue? Bit worried today my sickness feeling has completely gone

Sassy80 · 17/10/2017 12:24

Hi all, I got a BFP this morning estimate 3+ 5 therefore should be due around 29 June 2018! Super excited this is my 2nd but my DD is 12 so a big gap, I'm 37 so much older this time round. My 1st pregnancy was easy fingers crossed it will be the same this time round! Looking forward to getting to know you all xx

ScienceGeekGirl · 17/10/2017 12:25

Can I really coyly add myself. I have a 3yr old DD and just got a positive. Well two. Waited as long as could after fmu. So guess it’s not just a dodgy test.
Am terrified. Last time it took 10 months and this time it’s 4 months and 2 of those months on the actual ovulation dates I was out of the country.
Still super early, 12dpo which works out to be under 4 weeks pregnant. This bit of pregnancy is horrid. But got to easier this time, knowing what is about to come (hopefully) in about 2 weeks time. Feel completely normal right now.

Hugs to those who are in the horrible sicky bit x

Caspiana · 17/10/2017 12:30

Welcome new members!

@pool28 that is a bit odd. Which apps are saying that? Are you an early ovulator and these are apps which charted your cycle when TTC? Can’t understand why it would say 6 weeks!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 17/10/2017 13:15

Only 4+2 but could quite easily sleep 24/7 for the rest of my life! 😴

AnythingNotEverything · 17/10/2017 14:36

Hi ladies,

Just popping my head around the door after 2 faint bfps today. Look to be due 29/6 so might also join the July group as none of my existing 3 DC were on time!

Will be back to catch up soon xx
