2.5 hours :o
Mine took about 45 minutes. I wasn't very impressed tbh. They got me to give them a urine sample when I arrived. They checked that, took my blood pressure, weight and height. Then we went in to see the midwife. She asked some questions and filled in lots of things on the computer. Then I got sent to a different room for blood to be taken. By the time that was done the midwife had finished on the computer, printed it all off and put it in my notes. I got given my notes and bounty pack and sent on my way.
She went through a few things with me, but skipped loads. I read the notes afterwards. There are ticklists of things we "discussed" that she didn't even mention. She gave me a load of leaflets along with my notes, I think if she gave me any written info on something she just ticked it off. What really bothers me is the stuff in my notes that is just plain wrong. My mobile number is wrong, dh's surname is spelled wrong, his date of birth is a day out. She put down that I don't drink (I do, just very little - I looked at the evidence and made an educated decision) and that I started taking folic acid when I found out I was pregnant (it was actually when we started ttc), I could continue... It's not that any one mistake is likely to cause problems, just that there are so many of them and she didn't take the time to do it properly. I was the first appointment of the day, it wasn't like she was running late and trying to catch up. I admit to being a bit of a perfectionist, so things like this drive me mad.
I also think it's pretty bad that her idea of taking consent is to turn to the right page of the notes and say "sign here". I hope that's not what she does with everyone, although I suspect it probably is. I understand what I'm signing, I have a medical background and read everything they send me, but not everyone will.
I've been given a consultant appointment, but I'm not entirely sure why. Does everyone get them here? Is it my age (35)? Or my history of depression? I think she did a perinatal mental health referal, but I'm not entirely sure.
The joys of Newham. :/ Just hoping the community midwife I see at 16 weeks is a bit more thorough!
AIBU to consider plastering my notes with post its with corrections on?!
