Hi everyone
Wow this is a big thread! Please can I join? I'm 7 +4 and my booking in app is this weekend.
This is our second dc but it has taken almost 2 years to fall for no medical known reason.
I am hopeful I will get a scan date soon as it would be good to put mind at rest.

Mummyloves09 · 03/11/2017 08:29

Good morning ladies,

I hope you are all well? Or feeling better than you did before.

I had my booking app yesterday all went well and have to wait a whole month until the scan which I will actually be 13 weeks.

So I know this is super early but my midwife was basically pitching a homebirth to me as she specialises in them. Now I just wanted to know was anyone else considering a home birth and if so why?

jenslater · 03/11/2017 08:47

Thanks @YorkshirePuddingPlse! Super useful.

jenslater · 03/11/2017 08:48

Exciting day for me today. First midwife appointment! I know it’s mainly questions but it’s great to finally get the ball rolling and making it feel a bit more real!

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 03/11/2017 08:58

I really want a home birth because giving birth in hospital with my first was awful.
However as a result of this my first did a lot of damage down there so not sure if they will let me.

SoozC · 03/11/2017 09:05

I am feeling very emotional lately. Had a bad day at work yesterday (I'm a teacher) and felt worried as my belly started hurting. Probably just stress, it's my first so I've no idea if the pain means something or not. It really makes me wish I didn't have to work right now, can't believe I've got another 6 1/2 months of this, all being well. Sad

Cookie1831 · 03/11/2017 09:05

I like the idea of a home birth too but needed a lot of suturing after my previous 2 so am a bit worried how that would work out at home, plus I have a dog and he would probably be trying to get in the pool with me!

Cookie1831 · 03/11/2017 09:06

If you are still hurting today sooz go get checked xx

ArkadyRose · 03/11/2017 09:17

I had a homebirth with DD3, and it went so fast that she actually arrived ten minutes before the midwives did! So much more relaxing than a hospital birth though. I really wanted to have another homebirth but they've put me down as high risk thanks to my age. Mind you, if this one decides to go as fast as DD3 did then it wouldn't surprise me if I ended up with another unattended homebirth....

lampert · 03/11/2017 10:10

I’m really keen on the idea of a homebjrth, though my husband is completely against it. I need to do some more research really. I’ve been researching birthing pools to buy / rent for use at home.

ElizabethLemon · 03/11/2017 10:26

I'm planning on a home birth mainly because I hated being in hospital last time and feel I'd recover better at home. Also my last birth was very quick (got to hospital at about 10.30pm and he was born not long after midnight) and my husband doesn't drive so I feel I probably wouldn't make it to hospital anyway!

I'm still feeling awful, nausea is really getting me down and I have no energy. Gp has signed me off work so I'm hoping I'll be feeling better by Thursday next week as I don't want to take the piss and ask for more time off! Trying to get lots of rest.

SoozC · 03/11/2017 10:51

Thanks, @Cookie1831, I feel better today but worried I'll have other days like yesterday. There's just no getting away from my class of demanding 4-year-olds until I go on maternity. A friend suggested I speak to GP too, I might call C&G line first and see what they suggest.

ArkadyRose · 03/11/2017 11:51

So, I just found out my eldest daughter is also pregnant - 12 weeks today. My youngest sister is 12 weeks' pregnant too. It feels utterly bizarre for all three of us to be pregnant at the same time! Confused There's a 10-year gap, agewise, between myself and my sister - and 10 years between her and my eldest. May and June next year are going to be very busy!

ElizabethLemon · 03/11/2017 12:37

@Arkady, wow that's amazing. You're definitely going to have a busy couple months!

Lulu298 · 03/11/2017 12:58

Congratulations Arkady!

Cookie1831 · 03/11/2017 14:13

That is crazy grandma/auntie/mummy x

Mintykins4 · 03/11/2017 14:32

Congratulations @ArkadyRose ! How lovely you can all enjoy mat leave together! I’ve got my early scan tomorrow afternoon, I think I’m 8+1 but looking forward to finding out! In terms of home birth I think it’s a great option but not for me. I was induced on the drip last time after my waters broke and I didn’t go into active labour. I had an epidural early as I was strapped to the table anyway and I actually rather enjoyed the whole thing. Comedy moment when it turned out the stirrup on the bed was broken so DH had to hold up my dead leg for about 20mins while I pushed. I wanted a natural birth but it was good in its own way, I think you have to go with the flow.

bonnymnemonic · 03/11/2017 15:33

My midwife also suggested a home birth for me as I had a straight forward, unmedicated and relatively quick labour last time. On the one hand, I do like the idea, but on the other, I think about the mess, extra washing, etc. Plus I had such a positive experience in the midwife-led birth centre, that I would be very happy to have a repeat!

Emz01 · 03/11/2017 18:05

Had my booking in appointment today, very surreal and dating scan now requested which should have through within 2 weeks. I was told to expect a dating scan any time between 12-14 weeks, hopefully they won’t keep me waiting too long!

I was also told that I would be prescribed aspirin to take daily from 12 weeks to try and prevent high blood pressure which I had with DS. Was on the verge of pre eclampsia/HELLP syndrome so anything to help as it was quite scary!

Lulu298 · 03/11/2017 20:46

My SPD has really flared up today Sad

backformore · 03/11/2017 22:09

Thanks, @ArkadyRose - and congratulations!

Happy to say my nausea is tapering off a bit...I'm still sick first thing in the morning, but then fairly ok for the rest of the day until I start to feel woozy again at night (but no puking then, only mornings). Sympathies to those who are feeling down about it - I was completely miserable two weeks ago and actually worried about starting to feel properly depressed because of it. Fingers crossed it gets better for everyone soon.

I sense my midwife is very pro-home birth, but I think we're going to stick to hospital as I'm a worst-case-scenario worrier. That said, my last birth was extremely quick, so there's a bit of a question mark about getting there in time again...

Cookie1831 · 04/11/2017 11:01

Private scan today by my count should be 6+4 am going on my own as husband will have kids am shitting myself will be nothing there, a molar pregnancy or twins!!!

SoozC · 04/11/2017 11:05

Best of luck, @Cookie1831, I look forward to seeing the scan pictures later! 6+3 here but no early scans booked; just keeping my fingers crossed until by dating scan.

Flyingfruit · 04/11/2017 11:11

Just had my early scan, by my reckoning I was 7 + 2, measure 7 + 4 and got to see an amazing little heartbeat!

Gaelach · 04/11/2017 11:15

flyingfruit that's great, how exciting! I can't wait for my scan, it's next week and I think I'll be 7+4 as well x
