Tried to catch up but ran out of time half-way up!!
Congrats to GWE - you did say you'd be quick again didn't you, but that sounds fantastically fast!! Hope it wasn't too much of a shock for any of you.
Thinking of Smole and familiy, and hoping they get some answers / reassurance / good news.
Mammyjo - I am a day ahead of you I think and my breasts have definitely lost their "football" feel and are much softer over the past few days. Orla does seem to want to feed quite often atm - I think as others have said, there's a growth spurt at around 2 weeks. I think it's probably very unlikely that there's not enough milk - I work on the "why would there not be"? basis.
Was actually having some thoughts about breastfeeding the other day which might or might not be helpful here: I think it's important to realise that it's a totally different type of feeding from bottle feeding - not so much about "feeds", at least in the daytime, as something you can do to comfort, nourish and be close to your baby. Unlike bottle feeding, you can't see what's going in, so you never worry that they're too full, if they will feed, then it keeps them quiet, you can breastfeed while you're asleep, and there will definitely be times when they want to feed off and on for a few hours at a time. Which if it's daytime, is fine - at least they're quiet, you can sit down etc. I am working on the basis that if we can sort speedy and efficient feeding and then re-settling at night, I won't worry at all about frequency, predictability etc in the day - at least not yet. Lots of feeding must mean lots of growing, less crying and hopefully more sleeping at night?? Sorry, not sure if any of that makes any sense!!
On the downside, I'm a bit worried that Orla and I have oral thrush, which I had for weeks and weeks with Niamh, and was a real pita. I'm hoping it's not, but have just been printing some info off the breastfeeding network site about it, so we can attack it all guns blazing if it is.
