Aapologies for grammar and spelling on last post-out in garden and sun on screen-can hardly see what Ive written..

scootermum · 11/04/2007 13:07

APOLOGIES

cameroonmama · 11/04/2007 13:16

Scoot, either i read this somewhere else on Mn or perhaps I have totally made it up, to help baby move try sucking on some ice/v cold water then lying down on your left side. HTH

MKG · 11/04/2007 13:47

Hey everyone.

I would love to have this baby in April. I have had the worst reflux these past few days, and last night couldn't sleep because I kept feeling acid crawl up my throat. I've tried changing beverages and foods, nothing helps. Tomorrow I'm going to tell the doctor that I'm done being pregnant and someone else will have to finish this for me. (Kinda like tag team wrestling)

I just had a thought that if SOH delivers in the zoo I wonder if the animals would go crazy. I've heard that pets can go crazy if their owner is about to go into labor.
Maybe she'll cause total chaos at the zoo.

scootermum · 11/04/2007 13:54

Out of bath now-think felt one little kick-will try with the water cameroonmama, thanks.Im sure its fine and just lying in an odd position-and is probably fed up because I feel generally rough and cant eat anything-poor baby is starving! Will see how I get on this aft before calling hosp..

She would probably get free entry for life MKG!Dunno about pets going crazy-our cat slept on the radiator as I was in labour with DD and didnt even raise an eyebrow as I was yelping in pain..little wretch, some concern might have been nice...

Largegandt,As DH pointed out-who do you want the buggy cheque made payable to?Forgot to ask..

MKG · 11/04/2007 13:59

I wonder if tour guides would say,

"To your left we have a femal HomoSapien giving birth to her young, it's rare to see this event in the open as she usually hides herself indoors, although the breed usually gives birth in captivity this particular specimen sees fit to do it in the wild"

OOOOO, maybe a monkey could attend the birth!

Juicylucytoo · 11/04/2007 14:00

Am now seriously thinking about a birthpool in a box for my home birth. A couple of friends have used birthing pool and swear by them.

Anyone know if they're any good?

Our flat is on the third floor, so would want to keep the pool as small as possible if we go with water birth.

Whadya think?

MKG · 11/04/2007 14:03

Here in the US the 1% of the population that opts for homebirth are told to get one of those inflatable kiddie pools (or so I've heard)

Mrsjaffabiffa · 11/04/2007 14:24

lol you ladies are soooo funny.

PMSL at SOH and her out take of London, funnily enough I had a secret suspision she'd be like a rabbit in headlights in the big city. Keep those legs crossed until you get home SOH, although its not sooo bad, I had ds in Birmingham instead of Bournemouth because we went away just after he was due. Poor lad, not sure whats worse a Brummy or a Londoner?

SKY hope you feel better soon.

MKG, lol at your descriptive birth commentary. I am impatient too for this baby, I feel ready now, have nothing else to focus on, still I'm not even 35 weeks until Friday so I don't know why I'm thinking this way, it's ages yet. BUT

I too expected a surprise arrival last night. It's inheard of for me and I'll fall off my chair if I do go in to natural early labour with this baby but I felt rough all day, had very bad lower back ache all day which by the evening was agony. Couldn't sit still, stand, I felt totaly resless. I was having BH through holby and even started timing them as they were beggining to feel period achey and were coming about every 10mins lasting about 40secs. I went to bed after holby and managed to go straight to sleep so things can't have been that bad.

thank you to my secret shower person, the package arrived this morning. jThey are just what I needed, very difficult to get here.

Sorry if I've missed anything or anyone.

madeindevon · 11/04/2007 14:35

as hubby is miles away tonight (liverpool) and my reserve birth partner (sister) is also gonna be miles away in bournmouth. i live in st albans and have only been there short time and know almost NOONE. i keep having nasty thoughts about going into labour tonight even tho im only 34 weeks! insane irrational thoughts!

largeginandtonic · 11/04/2007 14:57

Afternoon all, am sat trying tomget ds #4 to sleep. He is cranky and driving me crazy, why oh why do they whinge when tired????

The birthing pool is a fab idea, if i was having this baby at home and thought it was going to take longer than half an hour i would be having one for sure. TYG and SOH are opting for them.

Scooter i hope the little one moves a bit more for you, i always find a wham bar or somesuch e-numbered ridden sweet works well. Could i have the cheque made out to me please, Mrs Young. LOL, still cracks me up writing that, have'nt been married a year yet!!!

Im wiped out, no motivation for anything. Could crawl in to bed and sleep. Luckily a friend has just picked up the 3 big boys in exchange for her dd. So i only have dd and friend with Hugs. Girls are ok as long as you give them endless chocolate and promise to paint their nails later (dh will be doing that)

No midwife yet, am going to have to call soon, i really need to see her so she can get me a consultant appointment as soon as possible. Hate chasing people up, she is probably flat out with work.

MRSJB i spoke to the post office this morning and they will not send the parcel on to me or give it to someone up there to send on. They will return it to sender only and i seem to remember you saying you didnt put that on? It will go back to France and be opened They will wait for you to make an enquiry about it and release it back to you! Im so sorry, i jumped up and down on the phone but he said mail laws are strict and cant be broken. He had hysterical prg lady on the phone for 10 mins wittering about a deprived baby not having lovely shower gifts....probably thought i was crackers...

anyone else been reading this - not for the fainthearted but very funny thread

madeindevon · 11/04/2007 15:48

unfortunatly i cant access that thread coz of too many "bad words" its blocked by firewalls here at work!
can anyone give me the gist without using the naughty words!?

DizzyBrummie · 11/04/2007 16:00

there is no gist, just lots of stories you'd only want to share with people you'll never ever meet

Mrsjaffabiffa · 11/04/2007 16:22

lg&t, can you give me the number for your post office, I'll ring and give it a try in the morning, they may be able to open it there and if I can give them all the details they may send it back. I even know what bloody picture stamps were on it. If not I need to find out where in France it will go back to. I'm so livid about it, bloody post. I sent 3 other parcels last week all of which arrived within 3-4 days. Ohhhhhhhhh I'm so cross!! I was really pleased with my gifts for you.

Pinkjenny · 11/04/2007 16:36

Good afternoon lovely ladies

LG & T - thanks for letting me know about SOH - the zoo? She's bonkers.

I can't believe how naughty these May babies are. Arriving early, freaking us all out.

Scoot - if it makes you feel any better, after all the drama and tears of yesterday (honestly, my mascara was ruined!) my LO has been doing the locomotion this morning. I guess they have quiet days too, but definitely go in if you're worried.

I've been to a meeting in Birmingham on the train this morning, what fun. Everyone's eyes nearly popped out of their head when I walked in looking like a weeble. One of the HR Managers said, 'How long have you got to go, oh no wonder you are looking so plump.' Consequenly, I feel like a round whale like beast.

Aren't some people vile!!!! (She's no bloody oil painting)

twelveyeargap · 11/04/2007 16:41

Hello All. Thanks for the SOH update. The zoo.. Hmmm. All that walking...

I texted Scoot there. If anyone else wants to give baby a kick start to check up on it; a glass of orange juice never fails for me. All the natural sugars seem to get them going. Plus if the juice is chilled, that wakes them up too.

LG&T - does anyone have keys to your house to pick up the post office calling card? It can usually be posted back to the sorting office with instructions to deliver to another local address (maybe a neighbour?). I think you have to pay 50p or something.

Pinkjenny · 11/04/2007 16:46

I have a confession to make.

When the secret shower gift doodah started, I had dropped off the radar for a week or so.

I am worried that I was supposed to buy someone a present. How do I check? Is someone out there waiting for a present that I have not been forthcoming with?

Help me. You all know I'm rubbish.

twelveyeargap · 11/04/2007 16:49

Juicylucy - my midwife likes La Bassine by Made in Water It's the smallest of the inflatables, so when full it's also the lightest, if you're worried about your floor. Midwife likes it because of the construction. She says it has the strongest sides for her to sit on to do the checks and for the mum to lean on.

However, I expect some midwives prefer the BPIAB. They do a mini version which holds less water. They give the weights on the website and liken it to the number of adults that would weigh the same. So, if you can imagine that many adults standing in a corner of your room then you know it will be ok.

I think you're much more likely to have weight problems with a rigid rental pool as they're so heavy to begin with.

HTH

twelveyeargap · 11/04/2007 16:51

pinkjenny - you would have had to email Marslady to say you wanted "in" and she would have emailed you back to say who your secret shower person was. If you didn't email Mars, then you've nothing to worry about. If you did email her, then check your inbox to see who you got.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 11/04/2007 17:01

Hey, lg&t, I might send Grannie round there........ She'd make the papers, "OAP, storms post office waving wooden walking stick, spitting through teeth" bloomin royal mail how can you be so un-cooperative? Two very pregnant ladies are very distressed about this situation, infact I think I'll report you. IT's THEFT.... She'll demand some action. lol

largeginandtonic · 11/04/2007 17:13

MrsJB i said could he at least go and find the parcel but he said nope as i didnt have a date for when it was delivered. I said i could give him guesstimate but he said they get 300 parcels a day through there and was not prepared to search through a random selection. I fear he may say the same to you if you phone tomorrow. The number is 02392 580094, if you fancy a bash. It makes me sooooo cross how loads get lost in the mail and suffers careless treatment that whe you actually want them to help you out they wont claiming strict rules....

Scooter i hope your LO has woken up now.

TYG hellooooo how is the car situation going?

No more from SOH, so hope she is not in full labour!

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 11/04/2007 17:15

No one has keys either to pick up mail, we are having it re directed but not till this week, parcels, unless special delivery dont get passed on anyway even with re direction Bloody Royal Mail....grrrrr

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 11/04/2007 17:27

Car still dead. Found the fuel cut off switch and reset it. Didn't help. Car must "think" it has been nicked. My friend just said it happened to her on a Renault. Needed immobiliser reset, new keys and keys to be re-coded. Cost her £300. I can live with £300 - just, as we paid so little for the car. If it's more than then I'll be er, broke...

Mrsjaffabiffa · 11/04/2007 17:29

Thanks lg&t, I'll give it ago anyway. I know what date it was posted. Not that that will help. Just a thought though, if your mail is being re-directed you may get the parcel delivery card in the redirecton and then will know the date it was delivered and it will probably have a refernce number. This may not be any use to you in Plymouth but it might help my case to get it sent back to me.
