Happy Easter to all!! I hope that the bunny leaves lots of chocolates for all, but not too much, I ate too much yesterday and got the worst reflux.

Well I am officially ready for this baby. My bags are packed and I even wrote birth announcements without the pertinent information yesterday. I just need to play the waiting game for another 7 + or - weeks.

Oh well back to my knitting. I'm halfway done with a beautiful blanket (my first project) I just hope it doesn't fall apart when I wash it.

largeginandtonic · 08/04/2007 12:33

HAPPY EASTER all.

Hope the Easter bunny bought you all some lovely chocolate. I have been making an Easter choc cake with cute little chicks on it.

Scooter i will email you later about the Phil and Teds.

MKG you are so organised you put me to shame.

TYG i really hope your gathering of people goes well today, dont exhaust yourself too much. Eat lots and let all others do the cleaning up

Have a lovely day, we are off out for a picnic in a mo.

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope the Easter bunny visited you all, and that the heartburn stays away, just for today. Dh and I had an Easter egg for breakfast this morning. We really are a shining example to our daughter.

Started to decorate the nursery. My mum and I painted the room white yesterday, and repainted her cupboard white. (We like white in our family, all our houses are like asylums.) I got the most gorgeous Cath Kidston fabric for the curtains, pink (sorry SOH) background with white spots. Gorgeous. Am getting very excited now. Just need to order her furniture and getting my Bugaboo next Sunday.

Brilliant news about Lupins, can't believe she is coming home next week!

Off to Mum and Dad's for a big roast in a little while. Hope you all have a lovely Easter Sunday. (Dh keeps on saying to me, so what happened to Jesus today? This poor child...) xx

AbbyLou · 08/04/2007 14:53

Happy Easter everyone! I am currently at home enjoying some blissful peace and quiet. Dh is at work (!!) and ds has gone out for the day with Grandma and Grandad. I hate to say it but it is lovely to have the house to myself. I have been tackling all things baby-related today. The Nursery is almost complete except for hanging the balck out blind and curtains. I have been sorting through the mammoth amount of baby clothes my sister and I have accumulated between us. She has a girl and a boy and I have a boy so we have got stacks between us - I dread to think how much money's worth. She was bringing the Moses basket and bath up yesterday and I asked her to bring all the newborn and 0-3 unisex stuff back but I think she's brought me all she's got so currently sorting through it to label it for the loft.
I have packed my bag today as well. It doesn't look like I've got enough in it htough, might have to go and check one of those dreaded lists!

aprilmeadow · 08/04/2007 17:01

Afternoon

Had a lovely time at 'A day out with Thomas and friends'. Ds thought the trains were brilliant and was clapping and cheering as Thomas raced Diesel. Totally knackered now and have sent dh & ds out to feed the ducks.

Spoke to my dad today re the whole mrsa thing and he totally understands. He recons that the the Dr he asked said it would all be fine, so i launched into all the research i had done and he seemed to take it all in. I guess a good thing is, is that the hospital wont discharge him until he is clear of it.

PinkJenny - your nursery sounds lovely. We are also fans of whites and magnolias. Makes everything look nice and clean and bright. Cath Kidston fabric as well...very pretty.

Abbylou - it is lovely when you are left all on your own just to get on and sort things. I have packed my hospital bag as well and i am sure that i have missed things out. I think i had ten ton of stuff last time all crammed into a massive holdall. This time i have a relatively small suitcase on wheels and having consulted a list on line and made sure that everything is in the bag i still have loads of room. I guess we will find out when the time comes

SKYTVADDICT · 08/04/2007 19:03

Hi All

Happy Easter

2 hospital bags packed and stuffed full!

Thinking about writing a birth plan but really not sure what to put in it as really as long as all goes well in the end I don't really mind.

Ideally I will write "Active birth with gas and air only and ABSOLUTELY NO EPIDURAL, but really open to whatever happens. PS If I end up with an emergency C Section can they sterilise me at the same time?" Does this sound stupid?

I got a cadburys caramel egg and box of quality street from DP. The DDs got loads as usual and just want to eat them all the time.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/04/2007 19:04

Happy Easter everyone....................

Hope you are all well.

xxx

aprilmeadow · 08/04/2007 19:42

Sky - I didnt write a birth plan for ds or with this one. Figured that i would just see how it went. With ds i made sure that i was mobile for as much as possible. Didnt want to rule anything out. I didnt have any problems so figured i would try the same this time.

Also think that Lupins had asked to be sterilised at the same time as a cs.

LupinsBigLump · 08/04/2007 20:05

drkgpink · 09/04/2007 05:20

Hello all, after coming on to mumsnet after the first time in weeks I have just dried my eyes after reading charleymouse's post. Have posted over there but agree it seems insensitive to chat over on that thread.

I'm now just about 36 weeks due 8.5.07 little boy. Just given up work hence the new found freedom. Feels a bit weird really, it's my first baby and suddenly a lot of silly things that I never had time to worry about before are bothering me. People think that because I'm medical I should be fine, they forget that although I know all about pain relief, stages of labour etc I also know all about complications and not at all about the practicalitites of actually raising a child!!!!

To top it all after 35 plus weeks of always being cephalic at ANC he now appears to have gone wandering and the head isn't in the pelvis, I am sure he has one I've seen it on the scan but the midwife couldn't convince herself that either of the two hard areas up near my ribs were a bum or a head!!! See her again on thursday think I'll be off for a scan.

Thats definately my moan over, apart from that I feel lucky to have got so far through pregnancy without too much trouble and feel liberated now I'm not in work again until 2008. I keep walking into the nursery and getting very excited at the thought that hopefully in just over 4 weeks we'll be meeting little joshua after months of waiting. I hope everyone else is happy and healthy and that over the impending few weeks we have lots of healthy, happy babies.

Gingerbear · 09/04/2007 06:21

Hello drkgpink - I thought that I was the only one mad enough to be awake and on the Net at this time! Good to hear that you have finished work, not so good about the baby shifting position. I am 2 weeks behind you and my baby is breech too. I think there are a few on the May thread with the same. Have you tried anything to flip him?
I can completely relate to you going into the nursery and getting excited - with DD, I recall sitting in the rocking chair and imagining what it would be like holding her.
I have had a massive clearing up session in the baby's room - it had become a dumping ground for old toys, boxes, bin liners full of old clothes etc. I can now see the carpet again.
My maternity leave starts on 27 April, I too will be relieved, if a little sad to be finishing.
Speak soon, GB.

aprilmeadow · 09/04/2007 07:28

Hi Lups, good to see you back! CS sounds painful, hope you have a speedy healing process. What does dd think of Arlen?

Drkgpink & Gingerbear - welcome to the breech club! I was told by the mdwife to do lots of walking and to spend time on my hands and knees, something to do with having your bottom in the air. I personally havent spent time on all fours, but have done a lot of walking and i think it seems to have done the trick. If she is lying in the right position, which normally means that my stomach looks very odd, then i can feel a spine running from top to bottom. Also i have been able to feel a lot of kicks and can see limbs moving all over the place. Up until now all i have had is squirming movements. I find out tomorrow if she has turned. Keeping fingers crossed otherwise it will mean a trip to hosp to have her manually turned - dont really fancy that!

drkgpink · 09/04/2007 07:32

Hi Gingerbear, no you're not the only one with crazy sleeping and internet habits, I can't shift out of work mode at the mo no doubt I'll just get changed and baby will come along and then who knows!! I'm going over to a friend's today and she is going to give me some tips for flipping him so watch this space. Not keen on a section, guess it's the thought of completely surrendering control and being a patient for 3-5 days. Ultimately though as long as he's healthy what does it matter!

I bet your counting down the days til mat leave I know I was at the end. It would be lovely to meet up sometime when we're both free and up to it, I'll try and get your contact details from katzg if that's ok with you.

LupinsBigLump · 09/04/2007 07:33

Morning ev1 lovely to be back in my own bed altho had great trouble hoofing myself out, nearly had to call mum for help, am sending her off to primark for biggggg pants today - have been managing with the disposable ones until now, am weighing in at 10st10lb am not too bothered about that still lots of fluid to loose and havent been to the loo since thurs, boobs are flippin sore but milk coming in nicely,

Hows ev1 else doing, lgt & am thanks for your texts during my hossi stay, dp thought it was really lovely of you all - he doesnt make friends easily and said it was really nice that we were all being there for each other,

Will be back later, off to see Arlen at about 11 and take him in his milk for next 24 hrs, will update you and post some pics

LupinsBigLump · 09/04/2007 07:36

AM dd is sooooo in love with Arlen, she just keeps on lets see my brother, look at my brother, awwwww hes soo cute, and when she strokes him she is just a bit heavy handed tho - she doesnt realise how delicate he is, How are you getting on hope that hossi bag is ready!! Your having cs arent u? Is J looking forward to meeting his sister??

drkgpink · 09/04/2007 07:38

Aprilmeadow, thanks for the tip re walking, have a dog so planning to take her out a lot. I live in sheffield though with loads of hills, getting down is fine but back up again a struggle. I'm sure the neighbours watch me wondering if I'm in labour but no it's just me huffing and puffing back up again. I have resorted to the all fours position occasionally as when he gets really uncomfortable thats the only way he seems to move, not very glamorous though and my dh finds it hilarious.

aprilmeadow · 09/04/2007 07:58

Lups - cs was on the cards if baby hadnt turned, so fingers are crossed that she has! awwww so cute of W at wanting to see her brother. J is very excited and will go into the nursery and stand next to her cot and call her name. Hospital bag all done!!

Drkgpink - i live on a big housing estate and hadnt realised how many hills there are soooo close to my house! Now that i am on mat leave i will be able to collect my ds from nursery everyday. The majority of the hills are on the way to nursery which is fine as that is at the start of the walk however there is this sneaky one on the home stretch the kills me everytime. Good job i have the buggy to lean on

InTheseShoes · 09/04/2007 08:05

Morning all - thought I would be first up! Add me to the breech club, I met my midwife from ds's birth yesterday in the park (she is local and a parent from school, and a breastfeeding expert, so we are hiring her to help me get feeding etc established as it isn't easy for me due to my mahoooooooosive norks, she was brill last time) and she immediately asked me if I was breech - my bump is huge at the top and tapers away at the bottom, she said the only other thing would be if I had an anterior placenta (is that the right word - at the front??) but that I wouldn't feel kicks then, which I do. I will ask mw at Wednesday appointment what she thinks. A woman at swimming ages ago told me that to move her ds from breech she had to climb the stairs on her hands and knees sideways, so that might be worth trying.

Lupins, it's great to hear your news, I love Arlen's name (very unusual, is there a story?) I got some huge knickers in Ethel Austins (£1 a pair), had to explain to the shop assistant what I wanted them for as I felt so embarrassed at buying such monstrosities!

After being more or less set on names all the way through the pregnancy, dh, ds and I have spent the last three days in the park debating names for the baby - we are set on our boy's name, but have no middle names, and he needs 2, as ds has 2, and I am a believer in all being as equal as possible. We have middle names for our girl, but I have had a big wobble on the first name, so now we have a short list of 6, and if she is a girl, we will have to see what she looks like. It all stems from me choosing a beautiful name for ds, and then Eastenders bringing in a character of the same name a few months later, resulting in huge popularity for a name that I thought was lovely and original until then. My own first name is quite unusual, although more popular than it was when I was born, without being wierd or made up, and I wanted similar for my children. Plus, in teaching, you can often think of a reason NOT to call a child a name, rather than a reason TO call it them, IYSWIM.

I had a mini nest yesterday, pulled everything out of my wardrobes, had a bag for the bin, a bag for the charity shop and an ebay bag, and chucked a load of stuff out - I am a real hoarder, especially for shoes, there were shoes that are about 10 years old in there, and tatty boots that are at the end of thier life. All is sorted out now, and I am proud of the organised racks of stuff. Of course, a lot of it not wearable at the moment, but hopefully by summer and then next winter...

Nothing much planned for today except have warned dh and ds we are cleaning the house today, it's been a quiet weekend really, but quite nice really. dh back to work tomorrow, so ds and I will have to make our own entertainment, quite a bit planned, and then next week - a bit of time for me!!

Have a great day everyone, I must say, it's nice to be able to be a bit more involved now!

AbbyLou · 09/04/2007 08:31

Morning all - goodness, some of you were up and about early this morning!
We are planning a quiet day here too. Dh is at work (again!) so I'm left to entertain ds on my own. He had a long day out yesterday with grandma and grandad so I think he could probably do with a restful day today. We need to go and do the big shop but I find it increasingly difficult to push the trolley full of shopping with a 2 year old in it too. My sciatic pain is giving me so much gyp now.
I've told him if he's good we can set his easel up in the garden for painting, I'm afraid I'm a fair weather painter where kids are concerned - it's outside or not at all!
I've got a load of baby clothes in the washing machine so looking forward to seeing them all pristine and white when they come out.
My baby was breech too until about 4 weeks ago when it actually turned while I was lying on the bed at the midwife's appointment. I keep thinking it's moved back again and then changing my mind. I did spend a bit of time on all fours but found it incredibly uncomfortable to be honest. At this stage in my last pregnancy I was still working and I'm so glad I'm not this time. Just walking round the block seems to taje it out of me and I've had so many twinges and niggly pains.
Anyway, I'll check out for now as ds needs dressing. I'll catch up with you all later.

LupinsBigLump · 09/04/2007 09:40

Intheseshoes - lol at having to explain about knickers, I am sending my mum in hehehe

No story really behind Arlen's name, there is an american biker builder called arlen ness, dp is into bikes thats how we found the name but he is not named after him - we just liked it and its suitably differant without being weird

Still seems to be alot of breeches around, come on babies turrrrrnnnn aroooouuunnddd!!!

Off to mothercare world this morning - cant stand the thought of him having nothing to wear - even tho they say he doesnt really need anything, also my nipples are bleeding, so off to get kamillosan - have to be able to get milk to the hossi so need tip top nips lol

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/04/2007 10:24

Morning...........

drpink, congratulations on finishing work. My miniapple was breech until sometime in the last two weeks, I had a presentation scan on Monday and couldn't believe that it had turned.
I am 34+3 today.

Ohhhhhh Lupins it's sooo lovely to hear from you. Arlen sounds just beautiful and I can't wait to see a piccie. I bet W is just so delighted. How long is he likely to be in SCBU? Do they know or is it a weight thing? Sorry if that sounds silly but I have no idea how it works. Your c-sec sounds sore, try to rest but keep in touch. xxx

Beautiful here today again 21degrees, dc's are in shorts and t-shirts in the sandpit. Pool temp is raising, oh I love it! Summers nearly here. Going to sweep the floors and then venture into the sun. Yummy

Have a lovely bank holiday monday all.........

cameroonmama · 09/04/2007 11:30

Morning all, everyone sounds very lively this morning, must be the sunshine, but ours seems to have gone still at least it is not cold.

Lupins you sound so lively! Arlen is a lovely name and can just imagine your dd stroking him, too cute. Don't know if it will help you but after both my cs I took peppermint oil or extract or something like that which helped ease the not going to the toilet pain and found that endless bags of dried apricots and plain nuts did the job! Also Arnica tablets helped with the healing.

I am having a quiet moment while dh takes the dc up to a local hill called Ham Hill, ds is totally confused and thinks he is going to find lots of ham on his walk this morning

MrsJB, wish we were in France, I am very envious..you got such a huge response from your name thread have you decided on a girl's name yet? I have never seen such a choice!

twelveyeargap · 09/04/2007 12:21

Great to hear from Charley and Lupins.

Am feeling a bit sick... Probably a lot to do with the eating half an Easter egg before breakfast and a rice krispy cake after breakfast. Euurrgggh.

And all the tiramisu I ate yesterday, even though I realised when I made it that I shouldn't have been eating it all through my pregnancy. Never occurred to me until I made it myself on Sat that it's full of raw egg. Woops. And booze... although I have been drinking wine and stuff so I reckon the baby is fairly hardened to the stuff at this stage. Bad mother.

Barbecue was good. Had people over at 1 and they'd all buggered off by 7, which was great. Suits my waking hours well!

We'd recorded 28 Days Later and watched that and I reckon that was worse for the baby than any amount of Tiramisu. It was incredibly stressful to watch!

Hope you're all ok today. Am off to Homebase to buy a couple of cheapo sunloungers. Am wearing a sundress despite my puffy ankles and hairy legs. What is the world coming to?

cameroonmama · 09/04/2007 12:22

OMG, my best friend has just texted me to say she has popped out ds2 at 36 weeks and he is 7lbs It all happened rather quickly too. She was supposed to come down and visit us on wednesday, which I was a bit nervous about as I had visions of me rushing her into the labour ward in the middle of the night. Phew I am glad it happened today

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/04/2007 13:28

cam; still haven't decided on a girls name. We like Jorja Mai but apparently it's very popular in the UK now. We are not there though so wouldn't matter too much. Still like Marcie but it's close to Maddie. I think we are going to have to wait until it is born and a, see if it's a pink one and b, if it is, whether it looks like a Jorja or not.
It was a fantastic thread, I wasn't sure about starting it as there are always Soooooo many name threads I wonder if people get fed up with them but it seems to have done really well.

Wow, 7lb at 36 weeks were her dates correct. Congratulations to your friend.

TYG, Your breakfast sounds my kind of breaky FWIW, I am in shorts and a vest top today, hairy legs and showing middle as top is too short. Oh it's a terrible sight but it's hot and I'm cleaning and NO one can see me, except dc's. Maddie keeps poking my showing belly and saying baby, kiss (Thats her kissing sound).
