PJ - fully expecting Pod to turn up on June 6th - my 40th!!! By that stage I'll probably be desperate for his arrival though.

cinnamontam · 10/04/2007 17:00

Hey ladies - so much excitement. Congrats AM and family, wonderful news. Bring on the pictures.

PinkJ - so glad to hear everything is ok. Last week on the train on the way up to Scotland I hadn't felt Tilda move for hours and was convinced something was wrong. It was the most horrible thing plus I decided at the last minute I couldn't be fagged taking my hospital bag with me so had left it at home. I think it was the 4am start that morning and the constant rocking of the train that kept her quiet as it was all systems normal the next day until that night when she decided to lie crossways - sooooo uncomfortable. Ending up spending most of the evening in a B&B on all fours trying to get the little wench to move
Anyhoo - very glad to hear all is well.

I have 13 days of work and 48 days till Tilda is due and with my long cycle and family history of over cooking babies I'll be lucky to deliver in June i reckon. More like roll on July!!!

Pebblemum · 10/04/2007 17:32

Evening all

Ive just worked out i have 42 days left until my EDD. I had been counting the weeks and when i was saying there was 6wks left it sounded a long time but 42 days doesnt seem so bad somehow.

In an ideal world this LO will make her appearance somewhere between either 1-10 May or 16-21 May that way both sets of grandparents are available to look after the ds's and she will not end up sharing her birthday with anyone in my family.

buffythenappyslayer21 · 10/04/2007 17:33

sorry to barge in!!!just wanted to say hi to pebblemum!!just sent you a text!!

Pebblemum · 10/04/2007 17:43

PinkJenny glad it was all ok! Naughty baby messing around like that, they do it just to scare you.

Kids all playing elle fun behind me, chaos mounting. Who would have thought that elephants and butterflies could be sooooo noisy?!

im counting down the months pebblemum!!!let me know if you try the all fours thing!!

cameroonmama · 10/04/2007 18:19

Evening all, it seems like the big countdown is upon us all. I have a lot of respect for you working gals out there, I don't know how you manage it. As for tears, I cry at the slightest thing on the telly, Eastenders, the news, and ridiculous films.

Good to hear PJ that everything was fine at the hospital. The registrar booked me in this afternoon for my elective section on the 11th May, she explained that to try again for a VBAC was totally my choice but because there seemed to be a biological reason, rather than the baby being in a wrong position, for not delivering, it is likely again to end in an emergency section. So sunroof it is.. MIL birthday is on the 13th and my mum's birthday is on the 15th so in the interests of family harmony we had to make sure it was booked for neither 13th nor 15th!

MrsJB, they told me at the hospital to see my midwife weekly from now on.

Still no news on SOH?

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2007 18:50

The baby has now decided its conga time. So much for all the tears today.

I seriously need to chill.

Dh is upset with me because I didn't tell him I went to hospital. I didn't want to worry anyone! I would have called him and got him out of work if they had found any problems. I do understand why he's a bit upset but I'm not sure being cross with me is very fair.

Boys!!

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2007 18:52

Mrs JB, I see my midwife again at 36 weeks, then weekly from there.

LupinsBigLump · 10/04/2007 19:05

Wow congrats to AM and family, how many more May babies will come in April lol, must be the untimely lovely weather, awwww so pleased for them - we will soon have enough of us for post natal thread

Arlen has had sore skin so they have had his nappy off most of the day - I got to do 2 tube feeds today and from tomorrow will be doing his washing and nappies when im there so it is more hands on and we bond better, he has lost a little weight but within normal range and he is well enough to be moved to the nursery altho they are going to keep him in the hot room until they need the space, will be great when i can get some more cuddles

drkgpink · 10/04/2007 19:33

Pinkjenny - pleased everything went well today, don't they make fools of us at times. It's my first preg too and know what you mean about being nervous. As a dr myself I would rather see someone ten times for nothing than miss the time there was a problem, I imagine it doesn't seem like that when you're waiting at hospital but its the best approach I think. As for dh mine is completely irrational at the mo, he has an exam tomorrow and am putting it down to stress. honestly if men had babies!!!!

Cameroonmama - when were you studying in sheffield, you make me feel very young saying before my time, i'm 26, a few of the old haunts might still be around?

GIngerbear - would love to meet up when babies are here, I know you were keen on a VBAC , I'll keep my fingers crossed he/she turns for you.

Another day of being a domestic goddess today, stocked up freezer with meals for after birth. don't think my dh knows quite what to make of it all.

HOpe you all get a good nights sleep, try and hold on to the babies a bit longer!!

MKG · 10/04/2007 19:38

Again my offer to switch dates with someone is open.

This baby better come soon because I don't remember feeling this terrible when pregnant with ds. With him I was working and moving up until the day they sent me in for the induction. This one I'm off my feet and resting and I just feel terrible.

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2007 19:59

Far be it for me to start a controversial debate... but what about this lady whose ex-fiance won't let her use her frozen embryos?

Horrendous. The look on her face broke my over-emotional heart.

AbbyLou · 10/04/2007 20:15

Don't know what to think really on that issue PJ. I have thought about it quite a lot today too. On the one hand I can't believe that anyone would be cruel enough to take away a woman's possible only chance of a child. However, I can kind of see where he is coming from too. Even if some sort of legal contract was made where he could never be named or contacted, it would be extremely difficult for the child as it grew up. I can see both sides but do feel desperate for the woman.

On a more personal note, do anyone else's kicks actually hurt? Baby has been moving almost constantly for about the last 2 hours and the movements are really painful, enough to make me say ow out loud! I'm feeling kicks all over my bump so I've no idea which way round baby is. It was breech, then turned last time but I'll find out tomorrow which way it is. It's absolute agony to be honest, my whole bump keeps going hard and the movements make me wince.

cameroonmama · 10/04/2007 20:15

Lupins, its good to hear Arlen is doing well, seeing his pics made me go all gooey, so cute and tiny!

Drkgpink, i didn't mean to make you feel so young, its me that's the old bat It was in 1993 and I used to work in the famous Frog and Parrot and we went clubbing in that place at the bottom of town, a huge warehouse-like place - pregnancy and old age make me forget its name! It's also useful to know you are a Dr, now we can bug you with all our ailments

twelveyeargap · 10/04/2007 20:32

No, no response from SOH. Hopefully she's just having a lovely time and hasn't bothered with her phone.

I agree with that decision today, about the embryos, fwiw. I feel really sorry for that woman, but I think in the case of frozen embryos, I see the embryos no differently to "trying for a baby" in the "natural" way. She wouldn't have expected him to try with her after they split up, or donate sperm. The decision to implant, imo, is the same in this case as the decision to "try" for a baby for most couples. It's gutting for her, but I really don't think he could be expected to go through with that after the end of the relationship.

All the babies arriving has spurred me into a little action. I washed and dried all the new baby stuff. Dried on the washing line - bliss. DH just installed it for me. Ahhhh... fresh laundry. Started a little baby bag and am thinking about purchasing some nightshirts or similar just in case I have to go to hospital. I currently only have one pair of pyjamas that fit.

MKG · 10/04/2007 20:45

I don't know about the case you are discussing, but couldn't he just waive his parental rights to the embryos? Couldn't they come up with a contract that allows her to use them, but not make him liable. That would put him on the same level as a sperm donor at a clinic.

cameroonmama · 10/04/2007 21:02

ooooo its a difficult one, is it really her last, last chance to have a baby? Or her last chance with her own eggs? It would be easy for the ex to feel emotionally blackmailed into agreeing to something that obviously had not worked for them in the past, so its important that his rights are considered too. If he doesn't want to have a baby with her he should have the right to say no, surely?

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2007 21:17

Mmm, not sure. It just seems so unfair that he can go ahead and have children when he likes, and she can't.

Anyhoo, not sure what I think, must be devastating for her.

Got everything crossed for SOH, not like her to be so quiet. Hopefully she's stopped cleaning ceilings.

Night all xx
