I'm wearing maternity jeans for the same reason - I can't cope with anything firm around my tummy

Motherofpuppies · 18/10/2017 10:07

So exciting to hear about first scans. Good luck @whatamuddleduck. Got mine on the 27th, can't wait!

Finally starting to feel a bit better - is week 10 the magic week?? Although the nausea is still terrible, finally feeling like I'm getting some energy back and my clouded baby brain is clearing a bit. Suddenly realised a huge list of emails I never responded to over the last few weeks!

Food aversions and smells are getting slightly better too, was able to eat something which wasn't a plain white carb yesterday. Hurrah!

For everyone on week 8/9 still it will get better!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 18/10/2017 10:17

I'm 10+1 and both weeks 9 and 10 have been the worst yet so far. However this may be related to my grandfather dying - if I get upset then the nausea feels worse. I am hopeful that I might feel better as the week progresses

MotherOfBoy · 18/10/2017 10:20

I’m 9+6 and definitely feeling better. Tired, still have food aversions but generally hungry most of the time. Feeling little nauseous this morning but that might be cos I just wolfed down a huge Danish pastry Grin

Hoping I get my scan date soon the waiting is driving me nuts!

Ps I am already in maternity dresses for work tho am wearing firm support tights as my ‘bump’ is huge I look about 16 weeks already! V hard to hide!

LadyPug · 18/10/2017 10:26

9 + 2 here (or 8 + 2, who knows?!) and feeling really rough. Hanging on for a glimpse of a brighter future!

willisurvive2under2 · 18/10/2017 10:58

Just had my Harmony scan.

It’s twins.

I’m in shock. I’ve got a 14 month old. How the hell am I going to cope?

I’m going to have to change my username!

I can’t get my head around this Confused

MotherOfBoy · 18/10/2017 11:08

Oh my good gosh willisurvive!! You will have to change username! Do you have twins in the family? That’s going to take a lot to heat your head around I bet... but congratulations!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 18/10/2017 11:17

Wow willisurvive! What amazing news!

LadyPug · 18/10/2017 11:25

Omg willisurvive statistically someone on the thread had to have twins!!!! Eeeeek! I think you might want to lie down and process it!

Motherofpuppies · 18/10/2017 12:41

Omg willisurvive that's crazy amazing news! How did they tell you?

A friend found out she was having twins through a very nonchalant ultrasound technician who just said "so here's the heartbeat.... and here's the second heartbeat". Ha - guess they see it all the time!

willisurvive2under2 · 18/10/2017 12:56

She just said 'there's a baby...' and paused, made me think there was something wrong, she had a strange face on her. Then she said 'Here is a second baby'. I didn't react too well - floods of tears and a bit of panic.

They're non-identical. No twins at all in either family. I feel numb, I don't know if I can do this :-(

HerSymphonyAndSong · 18/10/2017 13:18

YOu will be able to do it willisurvive, it's just a massive shock atm Flowers

LadyPug · 18/10/2017 13:32

You can do this iwillsurvive it’s just shock. You can totally do this and hey, you don’t ever have to do this again, what a bonus! Two for the price of one - one morning sickness, one labour, two children. You just need to let it sink in, I think your reaction is totally normal ❤️

PhoenixDown · 18/10/2017 14:00

twins are a huge shock survive but you CAN do this. Speak to your mw/hospital for details of any multiple birth support groups, and check out TAMBLA who are absolutely fantastic for support and advice. Give yourself time to process and get your head around xx

Dorotha · 18/10/2017 14:12

Wow, what exciting news! 👶🏻👶🏻

My husband is a twin and his older brother was 2.5 when the twinnies were born. His mum swears she found the twins million times easier than her first because they always entertained each other. They are still incredibly close!

Firework83 · 18/10/2017 14:24

@willisurvive2under2 I'm having twins too!!! I'm 11+5 today and found out at 9 weeks. Also non identical. I can relate to your reaction 100%... everything changes but I'm started to get my head round it now. Check out TAMBA and Twin Talks podcast that have helped me.

For me I feel like because I don't have a kid, to go from zero to two feels a bit overwhelming and I'm worried I won't cope but I'm so glad I won't have to be pregnant again ha! Not loving it so far. But think of the special relationship they'll have?! xx

LadyPug · 18/10/2017 14:52

Omg Firework congrats! We have TWO sets of twins on the board!!!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 18/10/2017 15:56

Urgh salty food leaves a nasty aftertaste, sweet food makes nausea worse. I normally hate chewing gum but am having to resort to it to get rid of the horrible taste

Dorotha · 18/10/2017 15:57

Second+ timers, are you feeling any stretching pains? I had them so bad time time but none now! To the point where I'm beginning to wonder if this is normal? I don't feel like the bump has grown very much over last few weeks either, although I already some some symptoms of SPD. How do you guys feel?

MotherOfBoy · 18/10/2017 17:28

dorotha I had loads last time too but hardly at all this time. Everything this time is different though - never had sickness last time but been v nauseous this time round. I am so mega bloated too, bump really has appeared already. And don’t feel as tired as last time. Boobs are much bigger...

MegsMog · 18/10/2017 17:38

willisurvive congratulations, I can imagine the huge shock though. Allow yourself plenty of time for the news to sink in (I hear biscuits are very important at a time like this Wink ) and be gentle on yourself for any negative feelings. I'm sure the multiple boards on here will be able to give you lots of sensible advice and extra hand-holding.

dorotha I've had some stretching pains but not loads, guess everything is already stretched out from last time... No bump yet but much fatter due to the constant eating for weeks Blush. Joy.

At 11 weeks I'm definitely feeling less and less sick all the time. Bloody knackered still though. I've been going to bed at 7:30 every night.

MegsMog · 18/10/2017 17:40

firework congrats to you too! How exciting. If its your first you'll have nothing to compare it to, it'll be wonderful! Twin parents tend to say it's a steep learning curve at the beginning but then when twins can entertain each other it's easier in many ways than having a single child.

Poppy012 · 18/10/2017 18:25

Wow, Twins- congrats to both of you!
12 week scan in the morning, sooooo excited Grin

Aggy106 · 18/10/2017 18:37

Thanks very much megs!

Congrats willisurvive and firework, it must have been such a shock and hope it's starting to settle in. Sounds like some really good advice from other posters, hope you're both being well looked after!

poppy hope the scan goes well tomorrow!

I thought i was going to be horribly sick on someone in a meeting earlier but managed to hold it back so I'm counting that as a win!
