Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Cathster if you've had a previous section then you should get the option of ELCS this time. You will have a place of birth discussion later in pregnancy - ensure you make your worries known x

scoutcat · 13/10/2017 20:14

@LadyPug Anything to make me actually feel like I’m pregnant for a bit! I feel like a fraud or that it’s not growing properly! It’s making me so worried.

smu06set · 13/10/2017 20:20

milford employer can reclaim 92% of SMP and it's done on a monthly basis. If they pay you more than SMP they will still be out of pocket, but I assume you don't have a hugely generous maternity package?

LadyPug · 13/10/2017 20:47

Hey cathster I had emcs last time and they have suggested elc already this time around although I meet with the consultant to discuss next month so will see what my options are. I think I would prefer vbac (I’m v funny about surgery) but I know I’m likely to have trouble and this is probably the best option. Going to listen to obs and see what he says!

Kirstipops · 13/10/2017 21:32

Ah @Ladypug hope you feel better soon, I felt rough as rats today too. I'm 9 weeks now and hoping that this is me reaching a peak, I had to go vom before heading out to drop my daughter off at nurseryConfused I was never sick in my first pregnancy, (just nauseous) and today was the second time in a week. Weighed myself this morning and I reckon I've gained about 3-4lbs already too Blush. I was at a gig last night so I'm wondering if the sickness is related to tiredness?

MotherOfBoy · 13/10/2017 22:25

kirstipops I absolutely think it correlates with tiredness. I’d been feeling pretty good but then slept v badly last night and lo and behold been feeling nauseous most of the day! And now I can’t sleep. F-Ing pregnancy insomnia!

MilfordFound · 13/10/2017 22:28

@cathster I had a difficult birth last time. I asked about a c section at my booking in appt Blush The midwife said I'd be under consultant care due to previous birth and they'd probably offer me an elective section if I wanted one. I was prepared to encouraged to avoid a c section and was pleasantly surprised that midwife basically said if you want a c section you can have one no problem! It may not turn out quite that easy but I'm hopeful.

@smu06set Thanks for the info, that's good news. If they can claim on a pay as you go basis then it should be ok.
We are at the stage where the director has to pay his own money in sometimes to cover the wages Shock To be fair the business is doing the best that it's ever done, but it's still dodgy ground and I definitely don't feel secure in the employment. Ha there is no maternity package. It's such a small family run business, there's 3 part time employees and one full time. They've never had an employee go on maternity before. I'm trying to read up on my rights to make sure I know what I should expect. Last time I was with a big multinational company so all the policies were set out and everything was easy. Although did have to go through redundancy procedure while on maternity leave, daughter was 3 months old and I had to go in and interview for my job! Really hoping to have a stress free mat leave this time!

Gyoza · 14/10/2017 07:57

@scoutcat I’ve had no sickness at all either, i tend to get a weird bleurgh feeling as the day goes on, and I don’t feel hungry but when I start eating I can’t stop, but I would really call it nausea. I think we’re just in the lucky 20% that don’t get morning sickness, but I totally worry about it too! I had my booking apppointment on wednesday and got given a huge pack of information on babies to take away and was like “but You haven’t even checked I’m actually pregnant yet?!”

Gyoza · 14/10/2017 08:07

@scoutcat also I was slightly reassured by a chart in ‘expecting better’ that suggests only 50% of pregnant women in a study reported sickness, also worth bearing in mind that I think you’re more likely to be posting in a forum like this if you are suffering extreme symptoms and looking for support than if you’re just breezing through it all Without any worries?

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 14/10/2017 09:18

ladypug I'm 10+4. I'm not too worried about it, as I was the same last time.

I had an emcs cathster and am consultant led. The midwife said they would push for a vbac, which I'm fine with. I hate the idea of having surgery again, plus it will be much harder this time round with my toddler around.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 14/10/2017 09:59

When my symptoms go away I do try to remind myself that there are a minority women who get to 7+ months not realising they are pregnant, so they must feel normal-ish for a lot of the time

scoutcat · 14/10/2017 10:05

Thank you @Gyoza! You have completely reassured me (for a bit haha). My grandma never had any morning sickness so maybe I’m taking after her? My mum and my sister were basically sick through their whole pregnancies so I guess that was making me worry too!

Cathster · 14/10/2017 11:17

Thanks Phoenix, LadyPug and Milford that's helpful to know. I am consultant led but don't have my first appointment until 20 weeks, which feels a long time to wait without talking about it at all! I might mention it to my midwife when I see her next.

@tiramisu I wish I had your feelings about VBAC, it's frustrating not knowing why I really don't want one! I just can't put my finger on it but feel so worried at the thought of something going wrong again.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 14/10/2017 11:30

It's a bit different for me cathster as I had an emcs at 35 weeks. It sounds daft, but I just want to try actually giving birth, I have no experience of any of it.

DS's birth was fairly terrifying and I would like to avoid a similar experience this time round

Dorotha · 15/10/2017 18:22

Hi 👋
Once again, I'm behind on catching up! But my pukathon was definitely not pregnancy related - my son came down with the same two days later, and then my husband..

So basically we are all wiped out and I still have loads of pregnancy nausea (brilliant when moping up someone else's sick!). I feel I desperately need a holiday after the last crappy days. Hopefully things will look up from now 🤞

Aggy106 · 15/10/2017 20:54

dorotha so sorry to hear you and your family are poorly, I can't imagine how awful that must be on top of everything, morning sickness is bad enough. Hope you're all feeling better.

Just got back from a week's holiday so sorry I haven't had chance to catch up on all the posts but really pleased people have had scans and excellent news phoenix! It was so good to have a week off, I felt pretty sick most of the time but was only sick once. We got in last night and the first thing I did was run to the bathroom to throw up, normal service has resumed!

Hope you've all had good weekends, is anyone at 12 weeks yet?

LadyPug · 15/10/2017 21:00

Hey dorotha that sounds awful! Hope you’re taking it easy! Hey Aggy welcome back, I’m soooo far off 12 weeks it’s ridiculous, 9 weeks tomorrow, feel like crap and it’s dragging like nothing I’ve ever known! I can’t bear feeling like this for another 3 weeks!!!!

PhoenixDown · 15/10/2017 22:25

Me too ladypug I'm only 8w2d and feel like I've been pregnant for about 100 years already, this trimester is dragging so badly it's ridiculous Angry

LadyPug · 15/10/2017 22:54

It’s soooo bad Phoenix and is struggling so much with ms and having an active toddler! Goodness I hope it gets better from week 10 like a few other people have said. I think last time sickness was gone by week 13 but right now that feels insurmountable, it’s getting worse not better!!!! :-(

Kirstipops · 15/10/2017 23:17

I remember by my first scan the sickness had definitely been gone for a good week or 2 by then, fx'd it's the same this time! I'm fed up feeling so knackered as well!
Dorotha that sounds like a horrible bug, my daughter caught one at soft play a few months ago (evil vessels of disease!) and swiftly passed it on to me and my husband, it was awful!
I have a crazy gassy tummy, I can hear it gurgling and making odd pinging noises when I'm in bed, and it's got me to thimking when I'll start to be aware of baby movements this time around, I think I was about 21-22 weeks with my daughter when I felt definite movement, but you're supposed to be more aware of it earlier in subsequent pregnancies eh?

Aggy106 · 16/10/2017 07:20

It really feels like it's dragging for me too, I think I'm somewhere between 8-9 weeks but feels like forever. The constant nausea is really draining as well as the fatigue.

Has anyone else's skin been bad? I've had an outbreak of spots over the last couple of weeks which is unusual for me. Not sure if it's the hormones or because I haven't been taking my makeup off thoroughly because I've been so tired.

Poppy012 · 16/10/2017 07:35

HI ladies :)
Finally catching up on this very active thread!
12 weeks tomorrow 😁
I have had very bad skin but thank fully it’s starting to clear up now!
Hope your all ok!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/10/2017 07:44

No spots but I have a perioral dermatitis flare-up which is annoying! This may just be coincidence but it often appears when I'm a bit run down

LadyPug · 16/10/2017 08:20

Yay poppy I’ve been waiting for someone to reach the 12 week mark! That means there’s a light at the tunnel for all of us! Who has the first official 12 week scan? Don’t even have a date for mine yet! 😩

Poppy012 · 16/10/2017 08:39

Oh no date yet, I’m sure you will have one come through very soon :)
My scan is this Thursday at 10.30 so so excited 😁👶🏻
How you doing @ladypug
