squashy I lost about 1.5l, though hard to tell as I bled in the pool before he was born, then continued bleeding after and during stitching (didn't get stitched til about 2 hours after birth as had to wait for a doctor). Hard to estimate due to the pool blood loss as they could only measure what was lost outside the pool really. But again whole thing seems a bit silly as it was from tearing and not from placental or uterine problem.

SquashyMummy · 11/10/2017 21:40

Mother I was never told what my bleeding was from. Presumably there'll be something in my notes. I lost about 2l but I was in the labour ward and they had me on a bed, down the corridor and stitched up in no time at all. So, there was def an advantage to being there instead of MLU, but limited access to birthing pools. Keep us posted about what the consultant says!

MotherOfBoy · 12/10/2017 06:14

Yeah I was on a labour ward too but my tear was so complicated the midwife couldn’t do it, then there was me arguing against having an epidural to do the stitching so they had to wait for local to work etc... I gave birth at 3.30 and they didn’t start stitching til about 5.30 and then it took an hour to do the stitching. Not nice memories, I felt so unwell cos of the blood loss I remember I kept saying I felt like I was dying Sad but can’t be that bad again, right?!

Oof hats off to those of you going into London every day. I have a conference so am experiencing the commuter train and tube for the first time when pregnant and it is not fun!

SquashyMummy · 12/10/2017 07:51

Don't worry mother it's all stretched down there now, they'll pop out Wink

Good luck with the commute symphony!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 12/10/2017 11:06

symphony good luck! I commute to London for work. My tube journey is not too hideous, but I still don't enjoy it at the best of times, much less when I'm pregnant.

Er, hi ladies, remember me?

I left the thread 2 weeks ago convinced I'd miscarried. Had 2 days of heavy red bleeding which stopped. I still had symptoms, but convinced myself it was a mc.

Well, had my 2 week re scan today and there was the little one with a heartbeat! Grin Grin Grin I have a 3cm hematoma which was causing the bleeding. I'm still having some brown blood now and again usually if I'm too active or bend down a certain way.

I can't believe it. after a missed mc in the past I thought I was out for sure. Have another scan in 2 weeks to check on the blood. I'm 7w6d today. I'm so glad to be back!!!

Kirstipops · 12/10/2017 12:02

Amazing news Phoenix, welcome back! You must be over the moon!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 12/10/2017 12:07

Fantastic news phoenix what a relief!

MotherOfBoy · 12/10/2017 12:09

Wow phoenix what a rollercoaster so so glad to see you back! What lovely news!

PhoenixDown · 12/10/2017 12:41

I'm in shock honestly, I was prepared to asked for med management that day. I did think it was odd my symptoms were getting stronger - I did a cheapy test a few days ago and it went really dark instantly, but thought it must be leftover hormones. After a missed mc before I'm just so pessimistic so didn't want to get my hopes up!

Hoping to stay for good this time Grin

wilkojnr · 12/10/2017 13:05

Whatamuddleduck · 12/10/2017 13:25

SquashyMummy · 12/10/2017 13:28

Welcome back Phoenix such good news!

Dorotha · 12/10/2017 13:30

Very pleased for your @PhoenixDown!!

Ladies, how do we distinguish between pregnancy sickness and food poisoning/bug?

I'm usually ok in the mornings, my nausea would start around lunch time and get progressively worse through the day. I would be puking between 5-7pm, though certainly not every day.

However, this morning I felt extra sick. I make it to work but started throwing up right after breakfast. Don't ask my about my journey home - I was sick all the way, including stopping to puke on the road multiple times.. I was so so ill and my stomach in agony from all the retching.

I napped for two hours and now I'm afraid to leave the bed in case it starts again.

Could it be food poisoning? Or just pregnancy related? I never had it so bad with my son. Is food poisoning dangerous in early pregnancy? I'm 10 weeks.

SquashyMummy · 12/10/2017 13:31

Dorotha and mother I had booking in and was also told I'd need to be consultant led and go on delivery suite, not MLU. They said consultant might not actually want to see me, I might just get a letter. My main concern is about wanting to use the pool again, but she didn't think it would make it less likely. There are two pools in the delivery suite and it's always a lottery whether you get one.

Dorotha · 12/10/2017 13:35

Our MLU is a million times nicer than labour ward so there's no competition which one I prefer. It's basically a lovely hotel room with en suite, birthing pool, double bed, tv, fans and lovely staff.

If you want it, I'd push for it. Ask about having a cannula put in in advance which is what they're offering me.

LadyPug · 12/10/2017 13:51

Welcome back Phoenix I’ve been wondering how you are! That’s such great news!!!!

MotherOfBoy · 12/10/2017 13:56

dorotha that sounds like illness to me. Don’t think it’s dangerous but need to be extra careful about staying hydrated when pregnant. Do call the GP if you are worried though!

Kirstipops · 12/10/2017 13:58

Oh Dorotha , that sounds awful. Whenever I have had food poisoning it comes out of both ends ahem, I had horrible stomach cramps and a bit of a fever as well. I think I only had nausea immediately before vomited.
I was sick this morning, had too meagre a breakfast and then I couldn't reach food quick enough to stave it off!! I think nausea peaks around 9ish weeks, which I'll be tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon Dorotha, a hot water helped with my abdominal cramps. A friend who had food poisoning while preg was assured by her doc that her baby was safe, I think the body steps in to protect the baby and we just feel like we've been hit by a bus!

Flumplet · 12/10/2017 14:55

Right I had a bit of an early scan this week due to 3rd hospital admission with HG. The scan measured me at 10+1wks. I’m booked in for dating scan on 26th Oct. I am only 10 weeks since the start of my last period so how can I be measuring 10’weeks already? Will the dating scan put the dates back a fortnight?! I have no idea what’s going on.

cautiousoptimist1 · 12/10/2017 15:05

Welcome back phoenix, so pleased for you.

Sorry you're feeling so ill Dorotha.

Flumplet, yep that's right, pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last missed period - so good news that your scan confirmed you're 10 weeks.

Dorotha · 12/10/2017 15:40

No diarrhoea or temperate but I can't keep keep anything down, not even tiny sips of water. If I move, I throw up. It's agonising because there's nothing left to throw up. It's got to be something else rather than just 'morning sickness'.

MotherOfBoy · 12/10/2017 15:50

Yes that is spot on flumplet - 10 weeks since last period = 10 weeks pregnant!

LadyPug · 12/10/2017 15:55

8+3 today and seriously I’ll, really can’t take much more of this :-(
