Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Yay jaronior! Congratulations!
Treehouse what a lovely surprise for you, a similar thing happened to a friend, she finally got her bfp after trying for years, and shortly before was due to start IVF!

MrsRonBurgundy · 19/09/2017 19:37

So pleased to hear that Jaranoir! You must be so relieved, congratulations.

I dipped into first thread but nothing too regular. I'm 6 + 5 today and having first real sickness waves. Managed not to actually be sick but couldn't face anything to eat or drink until around 2pm today Envy

I have my booking appointment scheduled for when I'm 9 weeks. Was supposed to be at 8 weeks but I have a meeting I can't get out of! Does anyone bring their DH to this appointment? Or am I ok to just rock up alone?

MooChops89 · 19/09/2017 19:41

Hiya @treehousemama, due date buddy! My booking appt is on 3rd oct Smile

smu06set · 19/09/2017 19:43

Yay jaronior!
I felt awful last night, fell asleep at 8pm! Better today but it does seem to be dizziness hits me at about 7pm each day. Weird!
Had another awkward one at work today planning stuff for June next year. Can hardly say I won't be here then!

purplebiro · 19/09/2017 19:45

Congrats to everyone. Did a cheapo
stick test tonight and definite line - had done one on Sunday night and got a very slight shade and then two lines on frers last night and this morning. STILL can't believe it - I wonder how much I'm going to spend on tests until I accept that I am well and truly upduffed ;)

purplebiro · 19/09/2017 19:47

Can you request an early scan or is it only if you're not sure on dates/miscarriage risk?

treehousemama · 19/09/2017 19:48

@moochops89 woohoo! Two weeks feels like forever to wait!!

purplebiro · 19/09/2017 19:49

Not telling dd until after 12 weeks - she's 2 - but have talked to her a bit about sisters. After dinner I said "M, would you like to be a sister?" Her, exiting the room, shouts over her shoulder: "NO THANKS" Hmm

treehousemama · 19/09/2017 19:49

May I ask what is probably a stupid question? Does the first scan happen AT the booking appointment? Or is it a separate thing? New to this whole business and also new to the country/the NHS so didn't experience this system when I had my first pregnancy/mmc 6 years ago (I'm from Australia).

HerSymphonyAndSong · 19/09/2017 19:50

I am not planning to take H to booking in appt but it is difficult for him to get off work during term time anyway (he is a teacher) - it sounds like lots of questions, leaflets, possibly bloods taken, nothing exciting! I think they would kick him out at some stage too anyway as I think they have to check re potential abusive situations.

Hoping to schedule 12 wk scan during half term if they will let me to make things easier for him

CaptainsCat · 19/09/2017 19:50

Has anybody else's skin become very sensitive? I've had to take off my wedding and engagement ring because the skin underneath has gone all red and cracked! I didn't have this last time and my skin is not usually at all sensitive, so I am surprised!

Gyoza · 19/09/2017 19:51

@mrsronburgundy I assumed DH wouldn't need to come to booking appointment but going to make sure he lets me know about any family health issues etc. Though this is my first so I don't really know?
Can any non-first timers advise if there's anything you should be asking at the booking apppointment? Or is it just to do tests? I haven't got a clue!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 19/09/2017 19:52

Treehouse in my area it is booking in appt with MW (no scan) at 8 weeks, then first scan at 12 weeks. You can book a private early scan if you want

purplebiro · 19/09/2017 19:52

No need to take husband to booking in - unless he has complex relevant medical history. We did last time and it was a waste of time for him - leaflets, blood tests, basic medical history stuff.

CaptainsCat · 19/09/2017 19:53

I wouldn't bother taking DH to booking in, it's a pretty straightforward medical history really. Mainly for you, but you will need to know of any hereditary conditions in his family. Otherwise wee sample and bloods, so not very exciting!

purplebiro · 19/09/2017 19:53

So many wee samples! Forgot about that bit!

CaptainsCat · 19/09/2017 19:54

SO many wee samples! You become a pro at aiming into the tiny pot by the time you're 20 weeks Grin

ladydolly · 19/09/2017 20:01

Def don't bother taking DH's to booking in. So boring for them. Just paperwork. Mine really wanted to come but in the end he only came for the one with the showround of the MLU. Then they announced I needed an internal exam so I made him turn around! I know it's ridiculous but it made me feel better!

I'm desperately trying to remember what I've lent to who, doppler with one mate, moses basket with another, baby carrier with someone from work....

Jaronior · 19/09/2017 20:12

@purplebiro I requested an early scan because of recurrent miscarriages. I phoned EPAU myself, explained my situation and they booked me in xx

MrsRonBurgundy · 19/09/2017 20:13

Ah brilliant thanks for all the replies, I definitely won't take him to booking appointment then.
I haven't told work yet and don't intend to until 12 week scan so just hoping I don't get a meeting come up for that day that I'll need to travel to because I won't have a good reason to skip it!

Dorotha · 19/09/2017 20:17

So FIL came and went. I survived the dinner by nibbling on mature cheddar cheese!

Only... they are now talking about organising a family skiing trip.. during Easter 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Dorotha · 19/09/2017 20:18

My son keeps saying he wants a baby sister. Until last week when he said (unprompted) 'mummy I don't want a baby anymore, I want a cat'
🤷‍♀️

Catndogmummy · 19/09/2017 20:20

I took my DH to initial appointment and although we were both quite underwhelmed by the whole thing he said he was pleased he went so he could ask questions and feel part of it.

mummykezza · 19/09/2017 20:46

Thanks also for the thread. I will update the stats tomorrow

I'm Kerry, 38 from London. 5 + 4 with my second and have a lovely two and a half year old son. Was delighted and happy to conceive as I thought it would take a lot longer. I also have zero symptoms. Clear blue digital said 1-2 last Tuesday, then again Sunday then again today but the pound shop tests are pure negative. Made me stress until I took the extra clear blue one.

I didn't get many symptoms last time so I shouldn't be surprised and also should count my lucky stars if I manage to get away with it again this time as my boss is a pain and I don't want her to know for ages.

If I felt sick at least I'd feel less doubtful about my negative tests.

MotherOfBoy · 19/09/2017 21:03

Great news jaronia!

Wow treehouse that is such an amazing story. Really hope all goes well! Re scan - no scan is at 12 weeks and is separate to booking. Booking is just height, weight, medical history, wee sample, blood test.
