Over here girls - sorry for the abuse on the last one, but this is the happy one!

Lets get started!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ambi, they wont give you anything to pee in!
Thats a bit odd really because whatever you take it in has to be ultra clean so they can get a good reading.

Jarm, great news about dh. Does this mean you'll be moving then? Did the booking in go ok?
I would imagine those of us with the 1st as EDD will have scans around the same time. Mines the 15th May so only really 3 weeks away.

Beanster, theres loads of support on here for mums who want to have VBAC. You hit the right nail on the head though, just doing whats best for you and baby.

Bimblin, I know it seems a bit weird having an internal scan but actually they are the best. More accurate and you get a better view.
I would have been under consultant care too because I have a duplex kidney (basically two tubes going from kidney into one) but for my last two pregnancies they saw me at booking in and discharged me straight away. All they said was; "have you had any problems in the last few years", Me "no", "right we'll discharge you then".
So this time I haven't bothered.

Bimblin · 26/04/2007 13:51

Thanks for the reassurance on internal scan Pecka and nbg - doesn't sound as bad as I had let myself imagine - will let you know how if goes.

I'm diabetic so will be getting scanned and prodded pretty often so I better get used to it!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 26/04/2007 13:53

You will forget what is between your legs as soon as that image comes on screen i always wore a long top just so i felt nicely covered as much as possible!

Nbg · 26/04/2007 13:54

and believe me Bimblin, by the time you have this baby, you wont give two hoots who and what goes down there

Ambi · 26/04/2007 13:55

Yeah beanster that's what I'm trying to balance it all, the comments about ignoring the kid was meant by bringing child into work full time to have behave quietly under my desk, so maybe part-time and from home would be much better.

(I don't even like my job and would easily give it up, but we've just moved home, doubled our mortgage and we might have £50 a month after bills if I didn't work, blub)

Bimblin · 26/04/2007 13:59

Its just I didn't have to ever have one with ds (and avoided all full on stuff til the actual birth) so I am convinced my consultant is just being a perv (sorry - this is probably just stupid pg hormones! i really shouldn't say that about my doctor)

BeansterMum · 26/04/2007 14:01

Ambi - I know the mortgage bit!! We ended up renting after moving last year while our other house sold so had two lots of bills - still paying the price now! Jsut think how much cash we're all saving by not drinking though

That's a point - I'm not drinking, and chocolate makes me feel sick so how come none of my trousers fit properly anymore????

Nbh is right though - before long you'll no longer worry who goes down there - my DH did say though it made him feel very odd when another block (Doctor while in labour) had his fingers up there?!?! Bless

PeckaRolloverAgain · 26/04/2007 14:05

Bimblin, you dont have to have it you know? Any procedure/test/appointment is entirely up to you if you would like to have it.

If your not comfortable with it, dont have it.

Think about the benefits of having it - reassurance that things ok? Is that important to you right now or are you happy enough to wait until your later scan.

Totally up to you honey xx

Ambi · 26/04/2007 14:21

bimblin- you'll be ok hon, like a smear test? I hate them too but you'll get to see minibimblin so much sooner on the screen, That has got to be worth it?

Bimblin · 26/04/2007 15:59

I'm just being a wimp - I'm going to go, as you say it'll be great to see the baby, or blob at this stage.

becklespeckle · 26/04/2007 16:30

Hello all, was wondering if I could join you? I got a BFP last week! According to my LMP I am due on Christmas Eve although I ovulated around CD19 so I think it is nearer 29th December (so that would make me 5+4 or 4+6). Don't really have loads of symptoms yet other than being very tired, having very sore boobs, thrush and occasionally a bit of mild nausea and shaky feeling (usually cured by eating something). Oh, and my jeans are tight by the evening too! (actually, seeing that written down it looks like quite a lot - the more the better IMO) I saw my Doc on Tuesday and he has referred me for an early scan (which my consultant has backed up) as I had a missed m/c last year (lost at 5 weeks found out at 11) and also another years ago (lost at 12/13 weeks, found out at 15 at routine scan). I saw my Midwife yesterday too and have a 'booking in' appointment on May 21st.

skidaddle · 26/04/2007 17:37

Welcome and congrats becklespeckle, hope all goes well for you this time

Bimblin - just told my officemate about pecka's description of a vaginal scan and she thought it sounded great, filthy pervert that she is

at not even giving you a pot to p1ss in ambi!!

mad4girls - yes I was crying at Corrie too ( at being a Corrie fan more than the crying)- I think Eileen should keep her, she's been her mum really

And still thinking of you mrsdarcy if you're still reading this. Your post was so lovely and so brave and I'm sure we will all be hoping to hear good news from you soon

peanutbutter · 26/04/2007 18:50

Beckle!! i'm so glad to see you over here on this thread - i wanted to talk to you a bit more about our BFPs but worried that it might be upsetting for the lovely ladies on the thread. i'm sure you know what i mean.

I've got a rough due date of 20th December and I think i'm around 6+6

Lucy1977 · 26/04/2007 20:46

Hi everyone

Ambi - what on earth are you supposed to take the urine sample in? My area are tight - we have to re-use the same one.

Becklespeckle - congratulations and welcome to the thread, here's hoping we all have a happy and healthy 9 months.

Beanster/Fifi, I'm considering an elective section this time, found DD's birth and recovery awful but also had poorly managed end of pregnancy and late stages of labour and post labour so maybe being under consultant could help avoid those other things?

I nearly fainted today - is that a bad sign for baby? I'd just eaten lunch and was going up to my floor in the lift and just before I got in I went really light headed and had to lean on my friend.

Goodluck for your scan tomorrow Bimblin - let us know how it goes.

What's the consensus on highlighting your hair? Avoided it with DD until 16 wks but my hair is awful at the moment.

Lucy

Nbg · 27/04/2007 08:41

BeachBunni · 27/04/2007 08:57

Hi Pecka hope everythings ok. Thinking of you x

PeckaRolloverAgain · 27/04/2007 09:00

Hi girls

Thanks for thinking of me

I went into a bit of a panic last night, it just all seemed like dejavu from last night.

Im feeling a bit calmer this morning and the spotting has reduced down to being more like a littl bit of brown staining just when I wipe.

Not sure whether to try and get a scan or just relax and think what will be will be!

Im more nervous about going to see a new doula client this morning so this is taking my mind off it - wish me luck!

Think I will ring the doctor when I get back in

Thanks again xxxx

skidaddle · 27/04/2007 09:02

Pecka, thank goodness it hasn't got any worse - i think it definitely sounds like good news but a good idea to phone the doc this evening anyway.
Good luck with your new client and let us know how you get on

BeachBunni · 27/04/2007 09:18

Glad to hear you're feeling better Pecka. Make sure you take some time to yourself, put your feet up and relax x
