Oh god confomfort eating - today i went to supermarket to buy food for next few nights and dh is away. Could I find anything I wanted - it was all making me feel sick. So I had bought 2 rolls, soem salt and vingar crisps and some mushroom soup (which made me feel sick by the the time I got home).

Lizzer · 19/04/2007 09:18

Hello, sorry about my whingey whining yesterday. I feel better today, got the first docs appt in 5 mins!! It will feel really really then!! Also have work for next 3 days so I think mentally I'm becoming stronger and its winning the battle of the ms. I had a day off y'day and boy did I feel sorry for myself!

Wishing everyone a fantastic day and if I don't get back on mn, a good weekend too.

Sending lots of lurvely baby vibes to you all

Crap, I'm gonna be late now......ruuuuunnnn!!!!

insywinsyspider · 19/04/2007 09:36

gosh if you don't log on for a couple of days the conversation just runs away from you!

I've scanned the posts but not in much detail - sorry for not acknowledging how everyone is doing but i hope you are all well today

i eventually got doc to confirm pg test - now that 2ww of ttc has turned into a 4ww for the booking in appointment! back to work a week on monday and trying to decide when I should tell them - bought some new work tops, smock type a size to big so I can hide bump if nessary. Anyone know if maternity leave counts as continuous service? also didn't things change in April to give us 9 months off?

bambino1 · 19/04/2007 09:37

Morning everyone! Today is officially my first day of ms. Everything I look at makes me want to throw up everywhere. I attempted to have some ceral for breakfast but first mouthful just made me heave. My DH keeps saying i've got to eat. Easier said than done!!
Got to ring docs after two for blood results so I will keep you posted on that.

bambino1 · 19/04/2007 09:38

Insy - no idea about continuous leave but if your baby is due after april 07 then you will recieve 9m instead of 6m.

Lizzer · 19/04/2007 11:20

YES! 9 months I can't believe it, it was only 12 weeks with dd!!!!!!!!

Docs was great, probably was a bit gushy but the doc seemed relieved to see someone so happy in the surgery, hopefully I brightened her day! Midwife next week.OOOHH!

Top tips for ms, ginger tablets fom health food shop and travel sickness wrist bands have def worked a little and I had 2 ginger snaps before getting out of bed this morning and feel much better today

mrsdarcy · 19/04/2007 11:29

Good luck with the blood test results, Bambino. Sympathy to those with ms. I'm slightly queasy if I haven't eaten for a few hours but nothing in the league some of you are talking about.

fleacircus · 19/04/2007 12:29

Was a bit queasy this morning but still no proper MS yet; eating like a horse! Naively I'm rather looking forward to MS (should point out that this is my first pg, I'm sure I'll soon realise how misguided this is ) as it will make everything seem more real!

Ambi · 19/04/2007 12:59

I'm eating like a horse too flea,(mmm, just polished off chips and gravy!!) but I'm not looking forward to ms, I really hope I don't get it!! Had to tell another friend last night as she asked me to be a Bridemaid at her wedding, 1 day after my EDD, feel really sad I won't be there, unless baba's early.. But she's annoyed but really happy for me as she's the only one of my mates who's had a baby.

Ambi · 19/04/2007 13:04

Thanks for reminding me bout Mat Leave, just did some research, it's 12 months in total, 9 of which are paid, there's a good gov website which outline what you'll get paid and the date you'll have to inform employers, according to you EDD and current wage.

ok so it might not work;

FurryFox · 19/04/2007 14:40

Hi everyone

Bambino - Any news on your blood test?

Beanster - Haven't tried DD in a bed yet, think I will give it a few more months and then try. She's usually ok in her cot

Lucy - It is so hard not to worry about things so know how you feel. Do you have any other DC? This will be my second but I'm much more nervous this time than I was last time I think.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok

Still no MS here. Felt a bit sicky giving DD her lunch but think it was because I hadn't eaten, now I've had food I'm fine

skidaddle · 19/04/2007 15:25

Hello everyone,

Gald to see everyone seem well and happy today.

Any news bambino?

Great it came to nothing furry

Beanster - made myself a blue cheese pizza the very day you told me it was OK to eat it cooked - it was luverly

Fifi - dd is the same - perfect baby - it makes me dread what this next one will be like - surely it's payback time!!

Cazzy - I'm the same about food - really want something but nothing appeals, then suddenly crave something then by the time it's ready to eat, it makes me feelsick! I was waiting at the meat counter to get some steak yesterday and had to wait for an old lady ordering pork chops (bad enough)and then chicken livers By the time it was my turn and I had watched the butcher dip his hands in a big bowl of slimy chicken livers I was virtually wretching and could barely speak!!! Sorry if that made anyone else feel sick!

Still no proper ms though, just queasiness.

FurryFox · 19/04/2007 16:09

Skidaddle - I am now feeling slightly queezy after reading your description but that can only be a good thing...must mean I'm def pregnant

So, I'm going to ask for some advice again (I'm not usually like this honest ) I'm trying to work out how many weeks and days pg I am. Haven't been to the docs yet and not going till next week. Because I have a longish cycle I've ended up with a couple of different dates from differen't websites. So if anyone wants to help me out (and if you don't I don't blame you ) then this is my info: LMP 3rd March, cycle 37 days. Would just like to know if I'm, 4, 5 or 6 weeks pg and how many days I am Thanks in advance

skidaddle · 19/04/2007 16:53

Hi furry, glad I could assist in making you feel properly pg

I have put your info into fertilitymap and with a 36 day cycle (the maximum they have) your edd is 16th December. So as your cycle's 37 days, presumably your edd is 17th December (great edd btw, my birthday )

But of course this is assuming that you ovulated 14 days before when your next af would have been due and that you conceived on this date so lots of ifs and buts. I'm sure it is now easy to work out how many days pg you are but my head is hurting so i will leave it to you!

Caz10 · 19/04/2007 17:06

Hi all! Goodness you go away for a couple of days and have to read for ages to catch up! Glad everyone is doing well, and I can fully sympathise with all the MS sufferers, I am feeling really lousy!! Thankfully have not been sick yet, but feeling like you are going to be sick every 2 minutes is horrible! Dry shreddies in bed before getting up are working at the moment.

And soooo tired, has anyone else's head turned to mush?!

Oh, re the maternity pay, beware that even though it is now 9 months paid, it is still only the 1st 13 weeks that are paid at almost full pay (90%), after that you are only on the SMP which is c£100 per week BEFORE tax!! I know for us the 9 month thing doesn't mean I can stay off any longer, we couldn't afford it, booo.

I am dying to try these wrist band thingies for sickness as have heard they are great, but will have to limit it to out of work, they kind of scream I am pregnant when you're obviously not using them for travel sickness?!

BeansterMum · 19/04/2007 18:48

Evenin' all

Feeling all jolly toady actually - strange as I'm away from home but getting time to chill (and read MN) is not bad

As for Matt Pay - legally if you only take OML (currently 6 mths but extending to 9 shortly) that does count as continuous service - as you still pay PAYE tax, NI and pension contributions during this period - you also are legally obliged by the company to maintain your Annual leave entitlement so in most cases you either take more time off as AL prior to returning to work or use it up before or afterwards. I went back 3 days a week for 6 weeks last time using 2 days AL each week but remember your employer may not accept (and doesn't have to) you doing in effect part time. If you extend your time off using Additional Maternity leave (AML) this WILL NOT count as continuous time as you in effect arae off without pay.

Sounds like I work in HR (I don't) I know but went through so much with my last employer with DD that I made sure I know all the ins and outs. As Caz10 rightly points out, the only legal requirement is for the Gov Statutory Mat pay (currenly £105 per week) to be paid but also, your company will pay 6 weeks at 90% (think that is legal req too?). Some companies/employers do improve this though - I also seem to think that the OML payments etc are irrespective on time worked and it's only AML which is available if you have worked for longer than 26 weeks prior to the 15ht week before your EDD (!??!) Not sure - anyone in HR/law???

Phew - long post there - but hope it helps.

Skiddadle - glad you liked the pizza

Everyone, big hugs and take care xx

mad4girls · 19/04/2007 19:18

oooh craving a doner kebab got to nip to chipshop now i need it within 5 mins its an emergency...

cazzybabs · 19/04/2007 19:31

ERghh just put 2 children to bed. MY back aches (not in a bad way just in a hurting way because well I don't know pregnancy???) and so I was really grumpy mummy. I am so tired and dh is away till Saturday. Oh well tis good practise for when he is away for a weeek. Anyone else's dh work away from home alot (mine doesn't go away alot actually).

And our buyers (of our house) are messing around. Erghhhh - we were about to exchange suddeny they come back with loads of questions. They had about 3 months to ask for all the questions WHY NOW!!!!!!!

Oh well.

thelady · 19/04/2007 19:57

Total 'wheels off applecart' day today....

We run a small hotel (DH and I) and after 2.5 years are just about done with the renovations (more than we'd expected due to crap surveyor/structural engineer.

Anyway, we're due to start lunch/dinner at the beginning of May, and I'm the one who's good at logistics, planning etc. And I'm crap! Can't think straight, can't get anything done, sit staring into space.... Not sure what to do. Two weeks after that we've got the Rugby 7s mayhem, and the week after that I'm supposed to be running a craft retreat here. Not enough bookings yet, but as some are from overseas we'll have to just go ahead with it anyway.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Caz10 · 19/04/2007 20:30

OK I feel bad for moaning now, I don't have any other kids and I don't run my own business! Wow hats off to you guys, I am in awe, can hardly function through work but that is really all I have to contend with and DH is being very good about looking after me.

On another work/legal related subject - does anyone know when it is a legal requirement to tell a prospective employer that you are preggers when you go for an interview? I have the prospect of one in May/June time when I would be just under 12 weeks - wouldn't even be announcing it then to anyone else - can I keep quiet?!

PS - is anyone else constipated?!

FurryFox · 19/04/2007 20:36

Skidaddle - Thanks for working that out for me, it's the same as I worked out too Would mean I'm 6+5.

Caz - I tried the wrist bands with DD but they didn't do anything for me but I have heard of lot's of people saying how good they are, hopefully they will work for you Re the telling employers thing I don't know I'm afraid and with regards to the constipation I've been fine (actually maybe slightly the opposite so sorry!) but I have heard constipation is very common in pg

mad4girls - Sorry you are feeling down, has the kebab helped?

Cazzy - My DH doesn't have to go away with work. He went away once for two nights on a course but thats about it. Sorry your buyers are messing around, moving house is sooooo stressful!

Thelady - I love the idea of running a hotel although I don't suppose I could do it for a minute

Had some more cramps this evening and a tiny bit more brown discharge so it's making me feel not very hopeful. Will tell the doctor on Monday and see what they say

mad4girls · 19/04/2007 20:37

gosh you guys sound busy i dont have to worry about work at least, well other than a small cleaning job and some ironing i do for friends

caz10 im not 100% sure on this but i dont think your legally required to tell ur employer until ur about 22 wks unless there are health and saftey issues like dangers to yourself i might be wrong though asits been some time since i dealt with this

ps i also constipation but probably not a probelme tomrrrow after the huge kebab i just ate

mad4girls · 19/04/2007 20:41

thanx furry feeling slightly better but as we all know food doesnt fill the hole when your reallt upset, put a post in pregancy as didnt want to hijack this thread as would feel bad

hope everyone else feeling better sorry if im depressing you all tried ringing a friend to cry to but no answer

thanx for putting up with me though

Lucy1977 · 19/04/2007 20:42

Hi everyone

Hope all your MS has given you some respite tonight. Still no symptoms here except strong smell and bloated stomach.

FF - DD is 14 mths old and I am worrying as much this time as I did when pg with DD. Being on a thread like this is helping though as I realise we're all going through the same thing.

Regarding the maternity leave - yes do check your company's own maternity policy. I am fortunate that where I work everyone is entitled to 26 ordinary leave and 26wks additional maternity leave, irrespective of length of service and they count Additional maternity leave as continuous service.

I looked at the list of foods that you are advised to avoid during pregnancy but it seems to have shrunk since I had DD? Either that or first time round I took everything to another level (didn't eat packed sandwiches or cooked ham from a packet either!)

TV is rubbish tonight!

Lucy
