Hi everyone

Bimblin don't think you can blame that on pg hormones!! What was the paricularly irritating comment about feminism? Sounds like my dp!

Congratulations the lady! A holiday would be great in Novemeber - you can just lie around and relax and get excited about the baby - especially as this is your first - it will be your last chance to do what you like as a couple - i say go for it

Bambino - good luck today - let us know when you have news xx

We didn't mean to tell anyone but SIL spotted folic acid in the cupboard and told my mum who was straight on the phone! She was really excited though which was lovely.

Thought I'd better tell my dad as well as we were supposed to be going to visit him in India in November but can't now. He was initially appalled - what about your PhD? What about money? etc etc - had me in tears. Then he rang back half an hour later - 'forgive me, I am a stupid old man, it is wonderful news' bless him . Have told a couple of friends as well but will try to control myself now until 12 weeks - but it's so HARD not to say, isn't it?

Lizzer · 18/04/2007 09:53

Hello all, thanks for your replies to my question about who you've told (Yes furryfox, think we will wait til 12 weeks for dd, it IS an awul long time til xmas when you're 7!) and also ARGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, just had to get that out. I'm feeling dreadful today, I can't stop wretching at the slightest smell of food and have aportfolio to hand in for college and loads of work all weekend and I'm being a waffy, pathetic excuse of a soon-to-be-wife (he had to get takeaway last night as I couldn't face the kitchen - he had been working for 9 hours solid, I'm working part time), mother (dd told me she had homework for today, I didn't even check her bag) Generally wondering what the f@£k I'm doing this for, I wanted a career! The novelty has well worn off, I could cry for days and days and I just want the baby here now and not the rest of it

Sorry, rant over, I'll sheepishly sit down in the corner and try not to vomit again.....

Mrs darcy I've just noticed you too have a 7 yr old with a dec b'day - me too! Dd is on the 23rd (was due on the 8th - just like this one!) What have we let ourselves in for?! I might start doing the 'summer half birthday' thing that everyone keeps telling me is fairer, but doesn't sit easy with me cos its not their actual birthday....

Skidaddle, aww that comment your dad made was so sweet (the latter not the former, natch )

fifi - yes my jeans are officially too tight and I will be browsing debenhams red-herring maternity wear sale very soon... And aren't we all soooooo lucky it is officially the fashion year of the SMOCK!! Yippeee! (last time round for me it was spice girls and all saints showing off their preg bellies in crop tops and cargo pants....eurgh!)

Oh, feeling better already, the power of MN!

skidaddle · 18/04/2007 10:07

Hi Lizzer,

forgot to say that I would also try not to tell your dd until 12 weeks - it must be so hard not to but at least when you do, you'll know that there will be a baby for her. What a great age to have a baby sister or brother - I'm sure she'll love it!

Sorry you're feeling so tired and sick but that is at least good news for your pregnancy

dundeemarmalade · 18/04/2007 10:22

just btw, in case anyone else is worrying about having af-type twinges or cramps, I called nhs direct yesterday evening, and the lovely, lovely nurse who called me back said that mild-moderate cramps/twinges/aches in early pregnancy used to be called 'rooming-in pains' which sort of sounds quite reassuring and nothing to get het-up about.
so now all i have to contend with is grumpy students complaining about me behind my back, and the small matter of having decided weeks ago to get almost every ceiling in the house de-artexed and skimmed. as i work from home (good in many ways, esp. with ms and knackedness!) this means i have a whole glorious week of what sounds and feels like an earthquake going on all around me.
bizarrely, i've noticed that the nausea/ms seems to be triggered by loud noises as much as smells. is this wierd?

mad4girls · 18/04/2007 10:25

morning ladies

thanx for your kind words of support its nice to know i have someone to talk to if needed

bambino -sorry to hear about infection hopefully all will be well

mrs darcy- hope your feeling better about pg today, also thanx for ideas on the books for older children might get that for my d's

fif-i am also guilty of buying some maternity wear already as it was in the sale, i already have maternity underwear i bought in a sale about a yr ago havent dared try them on yet though(keep thinking im going to jinx everything)

i am also finding it hard not to spread the news especially when i keep havingto dash out of my computer class to be sick. have told dp and about 5 friends but bursting to tell others althoug i know my mum, grandma and aunty(were very close) will give a long lecture and wont be impressed,

so not looking forward to telling them hence im waiting til about 10wks after scan and same with kids when we have a pic then will tell them

feeling better today, yesterday kept being sick most of the day. but today had me once this morning and seem okish now (quickly touches wood)

just at colege now so need to do some work will come back on later today

taake care all have a good day

bambino1 · 18/04/2007 10:46

Well had the blood test with some horrid nurse! I will find out tommorow which is really good. Hopefully be able to go back to work on friday as little cow dd is driving me insane. She has only been up 31/2 hrs and has already shut herself in her room having the biggest of all tantrums. Least she is out of my way for five mins, with any luck she'll fall asleep. Don't get me wrong I love being with her but she is just so horrid at the mo I just find it really hard, especialy with not sleeping well.

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 11:04

Ladies I need your advice please. TMI alert sorry. Felt a little moist down below iykwim so went to the loo and wiped. Knickers were fine but loo paper was a bit brown when I wiped. Not like blood or anything, just very dischargy with a bit of brown mucas type thing. Naturally I'm panicing like a loon and already cried. Have checked at least 50 times since and nothing else there. Think I might be over reacting - any advice or help?

Sorry not acknowledged other posts, will do in a while when hopefully I've calmed down a bit but can't think of anything else at the moment.

bambino1 · 18/04/2007 11:09

have you got an assigned midwife yet? if yes give her a ring. if your really worried call the hosp.

skidaddle · 18/04/2007 11:09

Furry, it sounds completely fine, sorry I don;t know much about it but I have read about people having wierd coloured CM (green, yellow) when pg. I am sure it is nothing, especially as there's been nothing since. Try not to worry. Maybe it would help to set your mind at rest if you phoned NHS Direct? Hopefuly someone else will know more than me. I reall think it sounds fine xx

dundeemarmalade · 18/04/2007 11:24

furry, i'd echo advice to call nhs direct- nurse i spoke to last night also said a bit of spotting was 'normal' and due to all the hormones gong crazy. don't panic, though that's probably impossible. hope you get some reassurance and feel better soon.

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 11:31

Thanks girls Feel ten times better already. Have put dd down for nap so can think straight now. It really was a really small amount and may not have even noticed it had I not been looking.

Haven't been assigned a midwife yet or even been to the gps. Will see how this afternoon goes and may ring NHS later this afternoon. I had to ring them in my last pg and they were really helpful. I've no pain or anything else unusual so hopefully it was just one of those things and perfectly normal. Thanks for your quick responses - I love MN

skidaddle · 18/04/2007 12:33

furry, just saw a post on another website about someone with a similar discharge and loads of replies saying they had had it too and it was nothing to worry about. hope this sets you mind at rest a bit

cazzybabs · 18/04/2007 12:34

Furryfox with both my mc I had bright red blood that was there everytime I wiped. So brown old blood of good (I would think!)

AHHH am sooooo tired. I just want to sleep and having real trouble thinking what to eat!
I keep stealing biscuits from the staff room!

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 12:37

you look at other websites

It has put my mind at rest thanks, am a lot calmer now although still checking quite frequently

I am extreamly grateful to be pg but this malarky is hard work

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 12:39

Thanks cazzybabs. Never had anything like it when pg with DD and I think it's hard not to panic even at the smallest things.

Has MS kicked in cazzy?

Lizzer · 18/04/2007 12:41

Hope everything ok Furry, I am very much more er..moist down below and slightly funny colour and forgot about this from first pg but it is normal (oh the things I have forgotten about...ignorant bliss!)

BTW I am thinking about this loads about all of you with young dc's and ms - how the hell are you coping?! I can't wait for dd to leave in the morning for school and when I'm knackered at night she entertains herself (I'm working 4 days but this seems to take my mind off it) If you're managing with whining toddlers and growing babies I take my hat off to you all

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 13:08

Ok so had some lunch, feel fine within myself and am a lot calmer now, thanks girls So now I will catch up with everyone.

Thelady - Glad the scan went well, it must have been lovely seeing it

mrsdarcy - Hope you are feeling better today. I think most of us have moments like that - I put it down to horemones

Bambino - Sorry you had a horrid nurse but at least you get the results tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you Hope DD is behaving now

mad4girls - Hope the MS isn't too bad today. Keen thinking I want MS to kick in with me but I know as soon as it arrives I'll be wishing it hadn't

dundee - Thanks for telling us what NHS Direct said last night. It's always reasurring to hear things are normal. I have had the odd cramp so now will try and relax about that too

Lizzer - Sorry you are feeling down about it all - am I allowed to blame hormones agin The wretching must be awful too. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon

Skidaddle - Bless you Dad for ringing back and being so lovely. Guess it was a bit of a surprise to him?

fifi - I've yet to buy any maternity clothes unless you count a couple of tops I brought in the January sales don't think I'll be wearing them just yet though although I can't wait to have a bump Only a week before your booking in appointment - bet you're excited. I'm going to the docs on Monday but they don't really do anything I don't think, don't see my MW till after the first scan I don't think.

Hope everyone else is well and thanks again for your support during my little panic this morning

Phew...sorry for loongggggg post

fifisworld · 18/04/2007 14:32

Hi Furry,

When i was pg with ds i was spotting brown blood for a couple of days, when i spoke to epu they said that its very normal to get this as its old blood. So if there has been any blood in you and with all the stretching and movements it can come away from you. I would only be worried if there is any red blood, but keep an eye on it and speak to gp if you are still worried to put your mind at rest.

Im so tired today. Dp is playing football after work so wont be in until about 10om,didnt pick his key up so now i have to wait up for him [angry and i've been on my own with ds all day who just doesnt want to have his nap and give me a break.

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 14:38

Thanks fifi - I feel fine now and had nothing since. Fingers crossed all is ok

How annoying your DH forgot his key. I'm struggling to stay awake past 9pm these days. How old is DS? Sounds like you are having one of 'those' days, I get them too.

fifisworld · 18/04/2007 14:43

He's 1 in a couple of weeks, i know he's tired as he puts his dummy in himself and goes quiet, but isnt showing any signs of going to sleep yet.

FurryFox · 18/04/2007 14:51

My dd is 20 months. It's funny because I always thought it was supposed to get easier but I'm finding it's getting harder and now I'm doing it again Am hoping she'll be in playgroup a couple of mornings/afternoons a week when this one arrives. I know she'll make a fab big sis though

She's been asleep for three and a half hours now (although I can now hear her kicking her cot) which would explain why she was being difficult this morning. Turned my back for a second (to ask MN for help earlier) and when I turn back she's in the garden with a toilet roll spread over the grass Oh the fun

fifisworld · 18/04/2007 15:05

I agree about it getting harder. Ds has been such a good baby though. Honestly i think he's cried about 3 or 4 times since he was born,he's slept through the night from 4 weeks,he's always happy and laughing.
I just hope the next ones the same, they say you never get 2 the same though
My BF has just had a baby and she's having a really hard time as the baby never sleeps and cries all the time and she keeps asking me what i did to settle ds etc..but i cant help her in that sense as i never had all that.

BeansterMum · 18/04/2007 18:17

Hi Guys

Furry - very similar in loads of ways to me - DD is 23 mths and sometimes absolutely fabby then at others a stubborn, pigheaded, impatient little madam. She slept really well though from day one really - only problem was it was only ever on top of either me or DH - prisoner in my own home and all that but I suppose it did mean I slept too - but both DH and me have been wondering/dreading the same again. YOu mention her kicking her cot - have you tried her in a little bed yet? My DD was in one early really (needed to get her into a bed before we went on holiday in March!!) but has only rolled out a couple of times and as she's still in her gro-bag it's not too much risk - she loves her bed though and seems to really know it's her's not Mummy or Daddy's!

As for brown yeuky spotting - nothing with my first pg but did get a fair bit 2 weeks ago and panicked lots - then read MN and calmed down a bit.

Skiddadle - how's the Dolcelatte pizza coming along!! not sure the MW view on baked Camembert but I know my old HV always said the French never had any problems and they eat everything all the time - and give their kids wine at 5 yrs!!!!!!
Talking of food - I'm away with work again (Bristol this time) and so will get to have lots of good old comfort food without DH moaning about pub grub etc etc - Beef and Ale pie last night - yum

To everyone else - big hellos and all that - still feel a fraud being on this thread with my DD of 30th Nov but I bet it changes at the scan to Dec anyway so I can properly join then - just really can't do the Nov thread as well at the same time - brain lacking the cells and motivation at the moment to do any sort of multi tasking!

Kitsilano · 18/04/2007 18:34

Just to add on the brown spotting - I had this with my dd and panicked but all was fine.

Try not to stress!

Lucy1977 · 18/04/2007 20:38

Hi everyone

Its great reading how everyone is getting on, I can't get on the forum at work so I'm quiet Tues-Thurs

I am having twinges/light pain on my left side low down, reading what someone said about NHS direct said (about rooming in) has reassured me a little but am finding these weeks leading upto 12 very looonnnggg!

Still no appointment through from the hospital about a dating scan so will phone midwife tomorrow to chase it.

Beanstermum - did you see the links to the private scan places?

DH has just gone to get me chocolate and him beer - I am going to be huge by the end of this pregnancy but really had stressful day and need comfort!

Take care everyone

Lucy
