Agh don't know what's happening, it looked like my first message had posted! I was attempting to say that I'm 8+4 (Or 3 according to 7 week scan) and it feels like a long old slog til the 12 week one!

Parney · 13/09/2017 07:43

@fitbit I'm not really sure I just remember on one of my appointment letters last time it emphasised the importance of staying well hydrated in the 5 days leading up to ultrasound. Sound waves work best when they have fluid to travel through. Hydration is important throughout pregnancy anyway so we're all probably drinking enough. I know I could do better though! Lots of people told me to eat sweets before the scan too to ensure an active baby but the hospital said to bring fruit juice to drink if the baby isn't active enough during the scan. They usually are though!
Oh @olicat vivid dreams like that are. Or helpful are they. Hopefully you'll have a much nicer one tonight. It is an awful long stretch while you're waiting for your scan!

MissYeti · 13/09/2017 08:02

Morning ladies! Just taken the gross glucose drink ready for my blood test later (which sucks cuz I'm literally .9 over the 30 bmi limit). Family has a history of GD though so I'd prefer if they did catch it early I guess!
Yesterday was horrendous, felt awful when I woke up, had breakfast and felt better, went to uni and couldn't keep my eyes open! Then the dizziness hit and everything was 10x worse D: got home and slept for three hours...was ridiculous!

MissYeti · 13/09/2017 12:11

So because my veins are useless the midwife was only able to do two out of four blood tests :( on the plus side my scan date came this morning! 12th October, will be 12+2!

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 13/09/2017 15:38

So I think I have a uti Sad
I have my midwife appointment tomorrow does anyone know if she will be able to assist with this or am I better calling my GP? (The midwife is in a doctors office would this make any difference?)

MissYeti · 13/09/2017 15:56

You can get cystopurin from the pharmacy which works wonders for utis. Dont need a prescription or anything!

Poppyandpeaches · 13/09/2017 16:08

@whymust I would maybe call your GP or EPU. I got a couple of UTIs with my last pregnancy and was given antibiotics, once by GP once by EPU.

crispydumpling · 13/09/2017 17:31

In my first pregnancy I got amazingly clear scans and the sonographer said it was probably because I was drinking so much (I was craving cold water). Im sure she said it can increase the amniotic fluid volume but it was 6yrs ago so I might not have remembered properly.

In my last one I was permanently dehydrated because I felt sick every time I drank and the pictures weren't so good. I'm going to try and drink lots this time!

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 13/09/2017 19:04

So I phoned the GP who said that the midwife will be able to arrange with a doctor if I need anything. Quite glad as it hopefully means I don't need another appointment or time off work

flippityfloppity · 13/09/2017 19:27

We had the scan - everything is ok! We both burst into tears. It was fantastic to hear good news in a room we have heard bad so many times. Back in two weeks - I thought that they just did one reassurance scan for multiple miscarriage patients before 12 weeks? I'm worrying a little that they're concerned about baby being four days behind size wise despite them saying it's fine and that's why they want us back.

Poppyandpeaches · 13/09/2017 19:36

@flippity so happy to hear you had a good scan! How far along do they think you are? Four days isn't too long - you can have fluctuations in your cycle so may have ovulated later than you thought xx

Crapbags · 13/09/2017 19:42

Ah that's great news @flippityfloppity can you ring your midwife for some info regarding the reassurance scan? Perhaps she could help put your mind at rest a bit.

I've brought my first pair of maternity jeans today and oh my the relief when I put them on☺️ Don't think I'll be taking them off for, let's say another 8-9 months😂 I'm only 11+3 but the bump definitely making itself known.

Struggling with constipation and bloating again last few days.....does anyone have any tips for dealing with this? Should I take a laxative or a natural remedy?

Aspenn17 · 13/09/2017 20:16

Great news @Flippity! I was a week behind where I thought I was, I wouldnt worry.

I had my midwife appointment today! It went well, only slight bit of bad news is that if the vanishing twin hasn't fully vanished by 12 weeks then I can't have the screening test for Downs until 20 weeks, but apart from that all good! 12 weeks scan is on 12th Oct, feels agggggges away.

MissYeti · 13/09/2017 20:22

@aspenn17 we're scan date buddies!

Aspenn17 · 13/09/2017 20:29

Oh damn Sorry @MissYeti, typo, mine is on 10th, but we are almost scan date buddies!!

boatrace30 · 13/09/2017 21:02

Try not to worry @flippityfloppity . With my DD I had an early scan and think they can be hard I accurately date. Our date Moved a whole week forward at the 12 weeks scan (I have irregular cycles and literally didn't know what the correct date should be)

MissYeti · 13/09/2017 21:10

@aspenn17 aww no worries! It'll be awesome to see all the little beans around the same time anyway :D

harrietm87 · 13/09/2017 21:17

@flippityfloppity I've had multiple mcs and this is the furthest I've got (9+6 today!). My EPU gives recurrent miscarriagers 2 reassurance scans - at 6 weeks and 8 weeks - though I missed my 8 week one and rescheduled it for 9 weeks - so I wouldn't read anything negative into the fact they've asked you back. Congratulations!!

FairfaxAikman · 14/09/2017 08:14

Chucked up for the first time this morning (9 weeks bang on).
Part of me hopes it's not just something I ate.

Sunshinesaz86 · 14/09/2017 11:35

Fab news on the great scan result ladies. They can be so reassuring. I'm sure my dates were pushed forward by either 2-4 days last time (can't remember which). I fully expect a date change on dating scan hopefully not my much.

My 12 week scan is next thurs when I'll be 11+6. Nervous/excited mainly to not have to hide my bloat/fatness anymore Grin

JammyC · 14/09/2017 15:13

Very jealous of all these 12wk scans! I'm still waiting on my GP appointment after which I then have my booking appointment with the mw! Due at the very end of April though so I guess I just have to be patient as some of you are 4 weeks ahead of me!

I'm feeling really queasy this week. Haribo tangfastics are helping a little. Can't eat them all the time though!

Have private scan on Saturday morning so keeping fingers crossed for a heartbeat Smile

Thelostsock · 14/09/2017 17:10

Well technically @JammyC I should be on the March thread but as due date is right at the end of the month and it's a first time baby, I think it'll be an April baby! So I am cheating a bit with this relatively early scan Grin

RosesForBadgers · 14/09/2017 17:42

Whoop! 12-week scan completed and we have one little wrigglepot happily somersaulting away in there. So delighted. We couldn't get a good pic for the screening so I'm having quad bloods at 15 weeks instead but that's no biggie. And I'm on the third day of feeling less sick too. My cup runneth over Smile Hope you are all having happy days too!

Poppyandpeaches · 14/09/2017 18:23

Sadly I didn't get good news today. Had a private scan after some spotting and it looks like baby stopped growing a couple of weeks ago and there's no heartbeat now. I actually feel better for knowing for sure. And I'm glad it happened a couple of weeks ago. I have been feeling so awful it seems unfair that it was all for nothing but at least I can hope to feel human again soon!

Wishing you all happy and healthy pregnancies! This group has been such a comfort in the lonely early days of pregnancy! Xxx

MissYeti · 14/09/2017 18:37

@poppyandpeaches I'm so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself Flowers
