@parney I felt no kicks with the anterior placenta last time and it was so stressful having to drive an hour round trip a few times a week to get monitored. I really hoped for a posterior this time but now I know it’s anterior again, I’m hoping it will move upwards so I get to feel something. I have been feeling movements since 14 weeks so hoping that’s a good sign that I’ll get more later on. Google is a terrible friend during pregnancy - I’m guilty of using it too much and driving myself into an anxious whirl wind!

Thelostsock · 03/11/2017 17:40

Good point @Parney, I feel like once Christmas is over the count down really begins!!!

FairfaxAikman · 03/11/2017 18:59

I think I’m feeling movement but I’m not sure.
Initially I thought it was the bow of my knickers tickling the fold of my “overhang” but it’s become more frequent so I can only assume it’s movement.

boatrace30 · 03/11/2017 19:23

It is awful!!@Parney . Very scary, had never heard of it before. I think I was told the placenta looked okay at the 12 week scan so fingers crossed!

My meeting is a week after my 20 week scan and that’s not will the 15th so a little while to wait yet

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Has anyone found any good maternity leggings yet- MUST be non see through!?

Did my first pre natal yoga session today and it was great, but I wore my pre pregnancy sports leggings and they were too uncomfortable, everyone else was just in normal black leggings. Got some from H n M which are fine for under long tops but too thin for yoga! I've heard lulu lemon are great with a bump but they are like £80!?

Thelostsock · 04/11/2017 15:47

@Aspenn17 I don’t have an answer but would love to see what’s recommended! I was told Sweaty Betty ... but they’re far too expensive

Parney · 04/11/2017 17:12

@Aspenn I lived in New Look maternity leggings last time! Love them, great fit, comfortable, non see through and less then £20 as far as I can remember.
@Fairfax that’s an accurate description of early movements! I seem to have a very active baby girl in there this last two weeks.

@scarlett It sounds like we had a similar experience last time. It was so stressful, fingers crossed your placenta allows you to feel more this time. With my anterior placenta last time I felt a lot of the early movements, it was more the outward kicks that were absent or at least very rare. As baby grew and wasn’t thudding me on the inside I couldn’t feel anything either! I worked myself up a lot by googling. I remember one reassurance scan about 6 weeks before DS was born and he was going crazy inside arms and legs everywhere and I couldn’t feel a thing. There were many tears!

@boat time will fly by and you’ll soon have your next appointments. Glad placenta looked good at last scan.

MissYeti · 04/11/2017 18:25

Second vote for new look, I've been living in them for the last week cuz they're so comfy! And non see through!!

Really jealous of the movements...still haven't felt anything remotely suspicious 😖 having a minor case of second trimester blues. I'm in the in between stage of just looking fat and not feeling bubba yet

fitbitbore · 05/11/2017 07:50

@MissYeti I'm the same hardly feel anything cos of anterior placenta. It's so annoying.

MissYeti · 05/11/2017 09:11

@fitbitbore that must suck :( I haven't been told where my placenta is so I don't know if mines anterior or whether nugget just isn't strong enough to be felt yet

MrsDneedsaB · 05/11/2017 11:33

I have ASOS leggings and they’re great, might go a bit see through if you’re stretching around doing yoga though but for every day wear they’re not horrific.

Victoria’s Secret Pink do some really nice thick yoga pants that have a fold over top so not tight. They’re good but £40. Buying leggings that aren’t see through is an almost impossible task for me and my fat ass lol!

Anyone else waking up feeling dizzy if they’ve been sleeping on their back? Woke up three times last night proper dizzy after waking up on my back. Going to need to prop my back so I don’t roll on to it 😣 first real sleep issues!

olicat · 05/11/2017 15:49

mrsd I've been wedging a pillow under my right hand side to stop me from going on my back and it seems to work. Finding not being able to switch to my right a challenge though!

twiddler had my cervical scan and they were happy it looked ok, got a quick peek of baby too 😁

FairfaxAikman · 05/11/2017 17:09

Sew a tennis ball into the back of your jammies. Stops you rolling on your back.

I’m still stomach sleeping at the moment.

twiddlerthefidget · 05/11/2017 18:31

Grwat news olicat. So happy to hear that Smile.

twiddlerthefidget · 05/11/2017 18:32

*great. Sorry! On my phone.

DaisyLand · 06/11/2017 08:14

Hello all ! Can I join ? Due 11-04

Went swimming yesterday for 1st time in 3 months. Barely lasted 10 mins , had heartburn and my swimming custom felt too tight on the belly ! Think it’s aboif time to get one Smile

FairfaxAikman · 06/11/2017 10:14

I had a midwife appointment today and got the hear peanut on the doppler (eventually as s/he was hiding).
Said to the midwife that it sounded like a steam train chuffing away and she commented some people say it sounds like a horse. Can only assume those people have never heard a horse if they think that.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 06/11/2017 10:38

Exciting fairfax
My 16 week appointment is this afternoon and I am really hopping that I get to hear the heartbeat

olicat · 06/11/2017 12:24

Fairfax lovely to hear the heartbeat! birds I hope you get to hear it too.

I had a really horrible experience last night - woke up shaking uncontrollably, not from cold though. I literally couldn't control my limbs and then I started finding it hard to breathe. Managed to sort myself out in the end by taking really deep breaths - instinctively took my pulse and it was really weak. I had a look online and think it could be low blood pressure - I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow so will speak to my midwife then as feel fine now. It does seem like it's a thing that happens in the 2nd trimester, but just wondering if anyone had experienced this before?

So annoying as was really reassured by my scan yesterday but now worried again, I'm going to beg them to listen to the hb now!!

ClaireBear1986 · 06/11/2017 14:23

I had my 16 week midwife appointment this morning, but sadly they don't listen to the heartbeat here.
I was really looking forward to hearing it so felt a bit deflated when they told me I had to wait till my 26 week appointment.

What a lovely experience for all you ladies who got to hear it though :)

I have my NHS Antenatal class on Sat 10th March, and then my NCT Classes on Sat 17th, Sun 18th and Tues 20th March.
Going to be a busy 10 days or so of learning for me.

My Midwife told me that now I am past 16 weeks, I need to avoid sleeping on my back and front. Finding it really uncomfortable to sleep on my left side all the time but my partner has picked me up a maternity pillow today so hopefully that will help tonight.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 06/11/2017 14:25

😫 I never got to hear the heartbeat either - said they don’t do it that early in my area

Gutted as I was sure I was going to get to today

boatrace30 · 06/11/2017 19:05

@olicat - that sounds horrible . Had you moved on to your back? I think that can cause low blood pressure as the weight of the baby can squash one of your veins or arteries

I hate sleeping on my side too @ClaireBear1986 . Maternity pillow helps a bit but not enough for me.

mspfan · 06/11/2017 20:23

It's a shame there's not a consistent policy for listening to the heartbeat. They try to find it at 16 week appointments here and fortunately the midwife was quite persistent as baby was hiding!

I'm lucky I sleep on my side usually anyway. I've heard great things about the dream genie pillow although I've just got a long one from Argos that I dug out at the weekend, much more comfy!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 06/11/2017 23:02

Ah, lovely that people are getting to hear the heartbeat Smile I'm still listening in on the Doppler a couple of times a week, I know some people aren't keen but for me it's very reassuring! fairfax there's an old wives tale re the sex of the baby and if it sounds like a horse/train - I hear horse Grin cant remember which is supposed to be which though.
oli that sounds so scary, you poor thing. Being on your back could definitely have done it. I've not had the shaking but I've been getting so breathless for nearly this whole pregnancy - everything feels like such hard work, getting up the stairs makes me puff and pant. I do generally have low-ish blood pressure (although was bang on at my last appt) so could be that. Low iron can also make you breathless/tired.
Welcome daisy, I feel you with the swimming thing - have been a runner on and off for years and haven't even attempted a run since falling pregnant. Couldn't run a bath at this point probably.

Still tummy sleeping here, with one knee bent up to take the pressure off my belly. I slept on my front til 27 weeks with my first! Have had a v-pillow from IKEA for both previous pregnancies and loved them, soooo supportive to bump. Will be getting another at some point but don't need one just yet so no rush. Still just look slightly fatter round the middle, no proper bump yet, but I'm only 16+1 so a bit behind lots of you.
Have a heavy cold currently and feeling very sorry for myself - permanent headache and can't breathe properly. And can't even take anything for it. Treated myself to an afternoon on the sofa doing absolutely nothing while youngest had a really long nap earlier, was lovely! Paid for it when he wouldn't go to sleep til nearly 9pm, but ah well. Starting to feel little baby movements too which is lovely - have had a few flutters over the last few days which I put down to wind, but had a very obvious baby full-body swoosh earlier, and have just had some wriggles writing this! Can't wait for proper kicks and movements Smile

harrietm87 · 07/11/2017 09:25

Wish I’d heard the heartbeat at mine! Wouldn’t get a Doppler though as I know I’d end up using it all the time and probably stressing out. I’m 18+2 and no bump or movements yet - I just look a bit tubby! My arse and boobs have grown way more than my tummy!

Might have to investigate a pregnancy pillow - what’s the best one?
