Ah congrats aspenn - wish mine had tried to find the heartbeat!

I thiiiinnk I felt movements earlier this evening - like a little click and then a flutter, then another flutter a few mins later! I'm 17+3. Also was so weird - woke up this morning with a bulge on one side of my tummy! It was solid and definitely baby! Went back to normal after I'd been for a wee - wonder if it had been squished to the side by my bladder or something?!

olicat · 01/11/2017 08:22

Hi redavocado, I'm in east London! How are you finding the tube?

twiddler glad to have someone in the same boat as me (although obviously not glad that you're worried!) When is your scan? Mine is Sunday and I'm nervous but excited to get a peek at baby again.

sienna I can't believe how quick your labour was 😨

redavocado · 01/11/2017 08:36

Olicat I'm hating it already and I'm only 18 weeks! I'm on the Piccadilly line and often have to wait for a few trains to go by before I can get on. I have a baby on board badge but it's such a squash that a) no one can see it and b) I'd never be able to get to a seat even if they could! I think I'm going to be working from home a lot in future...

Harriet I've had the same side bulge thing in the morning! It's really strange but also quite reassuring that it's definitely baby and not just pasta! Grin

Thelostsock · 01/11/2017 11:50

Has anyone found they’ve developed car sickness since being pregnant? I’m 19 weeks but finding it’s getting worse and worse

shrimpy3 · 01/11/2017 12:09

Thanks for the reassurance, good to know that people are pragmatic about food rules! Although am finding ways round them - had a microwaved camembert (basically a fondue) at the weekend, was delicious! Also getting through the non-alcoholic wine - Rawsons Retreat is the closest to the real thing I've found so far.. But maybe I've just forgotten what the real thing tastes like... Sad

Harriet, congrats on feeling flutters! We must have v similar due dates, I'm now 17+5

FairfaxAikman · 01/11/2017 12:15

I’m feeling lightheaded a lot. Fine if walking or driving but awful of sat at my desk.

ClaireBear1986 · 01/11/2017 14:15

Are you on the District line @olicat?
I travel in from the border of East London/Essex, and the tubes are terrible :(

Luckily in the morning I get a seat no problem as I am Zone 6.

Going home is a very different story.

The quick route home for me would be to go half way on the Jubilee Line but on the Jubilee, even with the badge I still seem to get shoved out the way. I even asked a guy one evening if he needed the priority seat, and if not would I be able to sit. (I was having bad stomach cramps) He shook his head, told me to F* off and then carried on shouting at me in another language. I was so embarrassed that I got off at the next station and waited for another tube.

So now, instead of the Jubilee I walk an extra 20 mins to the nearest District Line Station. Like @redavocado, I usually wait about 10/15 mins for a tube that I can safely get on.
I find as long as I stand near young men (20's to early 40's) then I will always get offered a seat.

I'm on the tube for about an hour and 15 mins so it really is a trek without a seat.

Hope you guys are having more luck with the London commute!!

olicat · 01/11/2017 20:21

Ah the tube commute is such a varied beast... can't believe that horrible man claire! I had an opposite but completely embarrassing experience this morning where this woman looked at me and then bellowed 'this lady is PREGNANT!' and turfed some guy out of his seat 🙈

I'm on the central line which is super hot and stuffy. Cannot wait to not have to commute any more!!

MissYeti · 01/11/2017 21:04

So glad I don't live in London, commuting sounds like a nightmare!! 😱😱
Been relatively normal here this week...15+2 and not a lot to write home about. We decided to announce to everyone via Facebook with a diddy Halloween pumpkin but that's about as exciting as Its got...very underwhelming 😅

Parney · 01/11/2017 21:21

Team pink here! 20 week scan went well today and I’ve been feeling lots of movement, I’ve an anterior placenta this time so should feel a lot more in general than with DS last year!
Ah @Yeti that’s a lovely way to announce! I love Halloween.
Those of you feeling light headed have you had iron levels checked? I remember experiencing this with DS and it can also be related to the sheer amount of extra blood your body is pumping around. Take care!
I don’t track baby development this time or have the many apps I did before but I do check size comparisons each week and found it funny this week that baby is the size of a tub of Ben and Jerry’s! Also felt like the first ‘biggish’ thing it’s been compared to!

boatrace30 · 02/11/2017 07:10

Congrats @Parney! Glad the scan went well.
I’m getting increasingly nervous ahead of mine, especially as I’ve now told my students at school. Still two weeks to wait 🙁

OP posts:
redavocado · 02/11/2017 08:24

Clairebear1986 and Olicat! I had three men offer me their seat this morning! It was amazing! One apologised for not seeing me earlier - I'd literally just got on the train... Hmm There's so much power in this badge!

Parney That's great! Congrats! I've got my 20 week scan next week - so excited to see the LO again!

harrietm87 · 02/11/2017 08:35

Yep I've had no problems getting a seat on the tube either! It's never the blatantly able-bodied business man in the priority seat though mind you...

Can't believe some of you have had 20 week scans already - are you end of march due dates? I'm due 8 April and have my scan on 20 Nov. I always look forward to it until the day and then feel totally sick with nerves.

Parney · 02/11/2017 09:09

Thanks @boat and @redavocado it was lovely and quite the relief!
Yes @harriet I’m due March 28th. First cycle after DS and it was unusually long so that’s how I found myself in this group! Gladly though! I’m with you on the nerves front, so scary but you just have to remind yourself that more than likely everything will be great.

Thelostsock · 02/11/2017 12:17

Congrats @Parney! I have mine next week and really can’t wait. How long did it take? Did you have to have a full bladder?

twiddlerthefidget · 02/11/2017 13:42

Olicat I had my scan yesterday evening. It went well and although I only wanted them to look at the cervix they also gave us some pics of baby including 4d ones. Felt very spoilt and the private clinic was very nice. We were even offered tea and coffe! Haha. But most importantly it all looked good and my cervix was measuring nice snd long. I'm really hoping you have a similar result from yours on Sunday. Celebrations were short lived though as when we got home I discovered dd1 had NITS. Ugh. Just what we needed.

boatrace30 · 02/11/2017 14:11

Lost from what I remember from last time a full bladder is less important at 20 weeks as the baby is so much bigger

OP posts:
Parney · 02/11/2017 14:22

@thelost Thanks! It was all done in about 20 minutes but I’m in Ireland and have heard it can be much longer in the U.K? I bought a bottle of water on my way and sipped it before going in to make sure baby was awake, it worked. Definitely didn’t need a full bladder. Staying extra hydrated this week meant my scan was so much clearer than with DS though. Good luck with yours too!
@Twiddler pleased your cervix scan went so well! Jealous of your 4D pics. How far along are you? Tempted to have a private peak before Christmas!

olicat · 02/11/2017 17:56

Twiddler really pleased all was well with the scan, hoping my cervix will be super long too! Haha. Sorry that your buzz has been slightly wrecked by nits though. The place I'm having mine done at says they also give you a quick abdominal scan to give you a couple of pics which is nice.

Harriet I'm the same, I'm all like oh only x days until my scan and then when the day comes I feel like I'm about to be sick!

I haven't actually got a badge yet - I know it's weird but I feel a bit self conscious about wearing one. Some people are seeming to notice without one anyway! I looked at an old thread about the badges and one person said that she got tutted at by a young business guy as her bump was getting in the way of him turning the pages of his metro!!

ScarletSienna · 02/11/2017 19:11

Parney-I had an anterior placenta last time (and this time) and that meant I felt less rather than more did you mean posterior or did you have a trickier placenta last time?

I’m going to ask to have iron levels checked out when I see the midwife tomorrow as I have had restless legs when trying to sleep and I googled that in the middle of Monday night and it said it can be low iron! I’ve not had low iron before but there’s always a first time...

Thelostsock · 02/11/2017 21:56

Thanks @boatrace30 and @Parney, that’s a relief as the 12 week was so uncomfortable! Can’t believe 20 weeks is almost here, this has felt like a really long time to wait

Parney · 02/11/2017 22:24

@Scarlett you’re right, I meant to write that I don’t have an anterior placenta this time. Blush I did last year with DS and I genuinely didn’t feel like there was a full sized baby in there! I did get to feel him kicking but it was rare. Especially as he got bigger. Did you feel much? I had been worried about where the placenta was this time because I’d been googling (I know!) and I came across some terrifying stories of placenta accreta. Where the placenta attaches in the CS scar tissue. So I was relived that it was ok!

I had an EMCS last time after getting to 10cm and baby becoming distressed. My consultant talked me through my options for this delivery yesterday. He has really put me at ease and I’d love a VBAC. Anyone have any experience with one? I’ll obviously decide on safest option at the time but for now I’m hoping to avoid a repeat CS if possible.

@thelost we’re getting there! 7ish weeks to Christmas, imagine the bumps by then!

boatrace30 · 03/11/2017 07:51

@Parney - I’ve googled placenta accreta now - that’s quite scary. Had a c-section last time too and also seeing a consultant after my 20week scan. I’m hoping for a Vbac. My section was elective as DD was breech so hopefully no reason not to have a vbac.

OP posts:
Parney · 03/11/2017 10:11

@boat I’d seen it on another thread, it’s incredibly rare and I’ve since been told it would have been spotted at 12 weeks. It’s horrific though isn’t it?
I had no problems with recovery so should be ok for VBAC too. Fingers crossed. However, I’ve decided I’d opt for an elective section over being induced. Since induction after CS has higher risks of complications and may lead to an EMCS anyway! So much to consider, yet can’t be certain of what needs to happen. I’m more calm this time... I think! Lots of luck with your consultant meeting! Is it soon?

ClaireBear1986 · 03/11/2017 10:38

Glad your commutes have been a bit less stressful @olicat and @redavocado.
I have learnt to stand near men under 40, and then always get offered a seat.
Women and men over 40 seem to just stare at me until I feel myself going red with embarrassment as I feel so uncomfortable.

Luckily my Boss has now authorised me to leave work a bit earlier, which has made so much difference to my journey home. Not getting myself worked up over travelling anymore now :)

What a cute announcement @MissYeti :)

Congrats on the scan and a little girl @parney. That is lovely news!!

My 20 week scan seems forever away, as not till 1st December. Having a private scan on Monday though and I can't wait. Just want to see my Little Peanut again now, and hopefully find out boy/girl.
