Hi everyone! Is it ok to join you all? I'm due on 1 April and found out yesterday it's another girl! I have a 2 year old DD too. This pregnancy has been quite different to my last so had convinced myself it was a boy! I live in South East London/border of Kent if there's anyone else localish?

ScarletSienna · 30/10/2017 07:25

Congrats mspfan!

shrimpy3 · 30/10/2017 11:44

Congrats mspfan! And on finding out the gender. I'm convinced mine's a boy too, for no real reason..!

I have an anterior placenta too, but nobody seems worried about it yet (hopefully, as you say, only an issue if is low). Midwife mentioned it, but she found the heartbeat at 16 weeks easily with the doppler. Sounded like a freight train! Hoping kicks won't take too long to come through.

Also with you on the worrying-about-the-pregnancy thing. Trying to tell myself not to stress about every twinge I get and what I've eaten (anyone else finding it hard knowing what you can and can't eat for lunch, if you want to buy a sandwich or similar?!).

MrsDneedsaB · 30/10/2017 12:03

Congrats mspfan another little girl to add to the list! Hopefully the girls will get on a level playing field so as the boys have over taken by a long shot.

I have a question for everyone cos I'm not sure what to do....a severe case of baby brain or stupid husband disorder (can't figure out which) has caused my appointment letters to have been "cleared away" aka thrown out. Who can I contact to get the dates of all my upcoming appointments? I'm sure there's one in November but I really can't remember! Do you think I can just call the hospital reception and they should have my upcoming appointments on file? Feeling so incredibly stupid at the moment for losing them!

fitbitbore · 30/10/2017 12:35

@MrsDneedsaB phone your hospital and ask for the antenatal department. They should be able to tell you your appointment times!

boatrace30 · 30/10/2017 18:24

@shrimpy3 , I think I’m more relaxed about food and stuff as it’s second time.
There really isn’t so much you can’t have.
NHS website is really good

MrsDneedsaB · 30/10/2017 18:46

Thanks @fitbitbore will do that! Such a numpty 🙈

When I was pregnant with my mmc I was super paranoid with eating and wouldn't even touch ham but this time round I've been really relaxed and pretty much only avoid seafood, smelly/soft cheese and alcohol. I don't tend to eat anything overly adventurous anyway so haven't had to change my diet at all! The only things I'm craving that I can't eat (unless cooked) are deli meats like salami etc - I love a good salami sandwich lol

fitbitbore · 30/10/2017 19:35

Are we not allowed salami???? I ate nearly a whole packet the other day 😂🙈🙈

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 30/10/2017 19:52

I would love some pate on toast hundreds of it drools

Thelostsock · 30/10/2017 20:20

After my day, I’d love all the wine WineWineWine

MrsDneedsaB · 30/10/2017 20:21

Well you're not allowed cured meats like Parma ham and salami types because they've never been cooked but the cleanliness standards of foods today I doubt you'd get ill from it - think you'll be fine fitbit! 😁

What is and what's not safe to eat changes every minute I swear. My mum does family history and she showed me and ad that she'd seen in a newspaper from 1925 that she was looking at - "Ovaltine, the perfect drink for getting your newborn baby to sleep!" 😱😂

MrsDneedsaB · 30/10/2017 20:22

Haha @Thelostsock aaaallllllll the wine!

MissYeti · 30/10/2017 20:35

Haha OH's Nan told us something like that! She was recommended by a Dr to give her baby a cap full of some alcoholic beverage (gin or the like I think - can't remember exactly) to put a newborn that wouldn't stop crying to sleep! They'd be fired for that nowadays and you'd be investigated by social services no doubt! Its mad how times change

fitbitbore · 30/10/2017 20:52

I miss wine too 😭😭😭

FourForYouGlenCoco · 30/10/2017 22:13

Hi, welcome and congrats mspfan!

Sam did movements pick up today? I don't think they'd have you in to hospital for monitoring, but you could always call your mw and see if she'll squeeze you in to clinic for a quick listen in with the Doppler?

No idea where my placenta is! I just assumed posterior. Probably written on scan notes somewhere. Anterior placentas aren't a problem in terms of birth or anything, just make it awkward sometimes to feel movements.

Sienna I also can't quite let myself believe in this pregnancy yet. This is the first time we've tried for a baby and actually fallen pregnant successfully first go (6th pregnancy, 3rd baby) and I assumed we'd have a mc or two before we managed a successful conception and had resigned myself to that, so now I permanently feel like I'm waiting for the hammer to fall.
TBH though with both other kids it felt surreal, even in the last few weeks when I was enormous I could never imagine there would be an actual baby - even once they were born it took a bit of adjusting. DC2 was born super fast and it took me a couple of days to get over the shock and realise that the baby was here to stay Grin

Re banned foods - I don't pay a huge amount of attention tbh Blush I'm veggie though so no danger of too much meat etc anyway. But was eating runny eggs before they were deemed ok, on the same basis that's decriminalised them now (i.e. salmonella-immunised chickens). Likewise I still eat Brie, etc, most bog-standard supermarket brands are made with pasteurised milk, so completely negates the risk of listeria. Also haven't completely given up caffeine, still having a coffee a day - accidentally went the whole day without a proper coffee the other day and the withdrawal headache was absolutely horrific. Not judging either way - this stuff is just personal choice and IMO the guidelines are extremely, maybe overly, cautious.

redavocado · 31/10/2017 07:49

Hi everyone! Another newbie here. I’m in north London and due 2 April. Grin

ScarletSienna · 31/10/2017 08:11

Four-my son was born really quickly too (0cm dilated to placenta delivery in 17 minutes. The actual labour is recorded as 12 minutes). I barely remember it. Maybe that’s why I’m still a bit incredulous about everything!

I’m vegan and don’t drink alcohol so not too on top of what can and can’t be eaten. It must be quite hard to remember at this stage when you don’t have a bump to remind you you’re pregnant!

ScarletSienna · 31/10/2017 08:11

Congratulations redavocado!

twiddlerthefidget · 31/10/2017 08:50

I've also booked a private cervical scan as I had some procedures done on my cervix a few years ago (can't remember what though). I don't think it was a LEETZ but noone seems to know at the dr either. I've been worrying excessively about it all week (along with the fact that I can't really feel baby at over 17 weeks) and think that might be why I've broken out in hives.... ouch!

ScarletSienna · 31/10/2017 09:05

I think private scans are really good for peace of mind and to check concerns out.

I think most people feel the baby move between 16-25 weeks. Some earlier and some later. The NHS says most do between 18 and 20 weeks I think. If I had a home ultrasound, I’d be on it everyday-it’s really hard not to worry.

Thelostsock · 31/10/2017 09:20

@ScarletSienna me too! I’d be on it constantly

boatrace30 · 31/10/2017 09:43

@twiddlerthefidget - try not to worry. I’ve only just started feeling it at 18. Didn’t feel DC1 until 19 and a friend is 27 and still barely feels it because of an anterior placenta which she didn’t know about until her 20week scan

I think with movements it's more important that they are regular once they're well established, rather than attaching any importance to things we may feel at this very early stage. Although of course nice and reassuring to feel them!

Think I might've felt something yesterday evening, but not 100%. Only 16 weeks though, plenty of time for that yet.

Had 16 week check up this morning, all well. She was able to get the heart beat on the doppler which was lovely. Although I'm sure if she hadn't been able to pick it up I'd be panicking!

Sam91TRS15 · 31/10/2017 14:14

I think I've felt some movements since then four, luckily I have a heartbeat monitor so I use that for reassurance! I've been really struggling with anxiety about the baby the past week or so, so constantly checking for the heartbeat. And even when I find it I'm like hmm is it strong enough? The mmc has made pregnancy hard to feel 100% sure of things going well. My first pregnancy, although feeling rubbish the whole time, I didn't worry about the chances of something going wrong at all.

Aspenn17 · 31/10/2017 15:57

I had my 16 week appointment today and heard her heartbeat, all good! So nice to hear it, this part feels like ages between scans! And same as you Liv, I thought I felt something yesterday evening but not 100%, made me feel quite emotional all the same! Smile
