We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

I'm worried how I'll cope with 3 haha

I'll have to tell me boss sooner rather than later, it's her hen do in 2 weeks and she'll soon get suspicious when I'm not drinking (I like a wine or two!!) It's only me and her in the office together anyway, so I'll prob tell her next week at some point.

MegsMog · 11/09/2017 06:53

Glad it's not just me who feels scared about adding another child to the family!

It's strange as I wasn't at all nervous about having DD, and unlike lots of my friends I found the newborn period really positive and lovely. I'm petrified about having another though as I have no idea how we would give another child the same kind of care and attention with DD around, and also how we would have the energy to give DD what she needs when sleep deprived... and then god knows how DH and I will have any time for each other!

It feels very conflicting as each MC I've felt sad and disappointed but also a part of me has felt a bit relieved I guess, like I've been gifted a bit more time just the three of us. It's like I really like the idea of adding to our family in theory, but in practice it feels very scary. Sorry, just rambling!

RedPanda25 · 11/09/2017 07:25

I'm feeling much the same about it too. This one will be our second. I love our family dynamic and DS is just such a joy to be around. I worry a little that we won't have as much time for DS but I also know that giving him a sibling will be amazing.

Going to book to see my GP this week as I'm still so petrified of miscarriage again. She's really lovely and I'm hoping she calms me down a little! Also going to ask about an early scan and see if she thinks it's a good idea. I've been trying to find the statistics of hearing a heartbeat and then the possibility of miscarrying after that but I can't find them anywhere. Sorry for the doom and gloom about it!

How are people planning on telling their DC? And when? I have one DS from a previous relationship who is 5. DH and I are really conscious that we dont want him to feel like an outsider. He's been my only baby all his life i do feel quite guilty that im about to turn everything upside down for him.

RedBlackberries · 11/09/2017 08:33

babylord I feel like that and I even feel a bit resentful of the baby on dds behalf! I said 'would you like a baby?' And she wants a baby sister Grin

RhiKHo · 11/09/2017 08:39

@babylord we just got back off honeymoon and my hubby suggested I take a test, just to 'see' so I bought a 6 day early one and got the shock of my life!

I've since ordered a load of cheapy ones from Amazon as can't quite believe it! Hopefully we'll see the Dr this week to work out what we're supposed to do. Seems at the moment though, we just wait and keep our fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

Dorotha · 11/09/2017 08:54

@MegsMog I know exactly what you mean! I loved having a little baby, those days were absolutely blissful (apart from early days of bfing but that also got sorted eventually). I want that again but I don't think it's possible with two. I don't know how I'm going to cope with sleep derivation and a three year old!

We told our parents last night at 4+2 because I want to make sure that if anything happens at least we'll have our families around us to help pick us back up. But trying to stay positive...

Is anyone starting on the Pregnacare vitamins? I'm still taking my folic acid as I have been since TTC

MooChops89 · 11/09/2017 11:34

I've been taking pregnacare since I found out soph - already had some in while ttc but forgot to take them. Haven't forgotten a single one since BFP Grin

BabyLord · 11/09/2017 11:57

Im taking pregnancy care vitamins from superdrug. A lot cheaper but maybe not as good im not sure? Bought them while ttc but only started taking them properly after BFP as well.

katiegd · 11/09/2017 12:38

As far as I can tell, it looks like the two vitamins you're definitely advised to take in pregnancy are folic acid (for first 12 weeks) and vitamin D. I didn't know about the vitamin D until doctor told me last week, so have now started taking it as well as the FA. Pregnacare is so expensive!

Fillybee · 11/09/2017 12:45

I'm taking the pregnacare "max" vitamins, the ones where you take 2 tablets and a fish oil capsule. May not be ideal for anyone feeling sick! I'm also taking low dose aspirin (as a precaution against miscarriage) is anyone else? I'm covered in bruises because of it, people at work keep looking at them with an accusing eye!

We're going on hols tomorrow and I plan to do non brand Shellac on my toenails tonight but have suddenly thought oh should I? Anyone else had thoughts about the more hardcore nail stuff??

I too have no idea how it would work with a newborn plus a toddler, but I assume you just find a way and make it work as what choice is there?! I might hire a cleaner though haha xx

Doublechocolatetiffin · 11/09/2017 13:52

@Fillybee snap! I'm on pregnacare plus and low dose asprin. I've got bruises everywhere, it's ridiculous. I'm also going on holiday tomorrow and am already not looking forward to the concept of swimwear (having put on lots of weight since having my DD) and now I have bruises, I'll look awful!!

I had shellac done when I was pregnant with my DD, I didn't even think about it to be honest. She's fine [grin

Doublechocolatetiffin · 11/09/2017 13:53

Oops lost the ] of my Grin

CaptainsCat · 11/09/2017 15:12

I won't be taking Pregnacare after my midwife in my last pregnancy told me they are an absolute waste of money after I proudly explained I was taking them. It easy to assume they are the best because £££ but any own brand one is perfectly good enough! Save your money for more baby clothes I say Smile

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 11/09/2017 15:27

I have no idea how DS will react - he's not brilliant with us paying attention to other babies, although he is improving.

I'm on the Boots vitamins with omega 3 capsules, as I don't eat fish.

Fillybee · 11/09/2017 15:44

I also don't eat enough fish so that's why I'm on the pregnacare ones that have the fish oil capsules. Would have been happy with the Boots own brand but they didn't have enough packs left to do the 3 for 2 deal!

Dorotha · 11/09/2017 17:08

I usually stay clear from multivitamins. I'll continue with folic acid and vitamin D, perhaps adding something with omega oils later on (currently fish is my craving number one!).

RedBlackberries · 11/09/2017 18:05

I've bought the boots own brand folic acid with vit d, no fancy pregnacare second time round!

I had a scan today and I'm much later than I thought Blush due 21/04!!!! Can I stay on the May thread pllleeaasseee?! It had a little heartbeat and everything!

MammaBear18 · 11/09/2017 18:16

@RedPanda25 coincidentally I read this article yesterday - it has some interesting statistics about viability of pregnancy after hearing heartbeat
6 weeks - 78%
8 weeks - 98%

www.expectingscience.com/2015/08/26/lies-damned-lies-and-miscarriage-statistics/

MammaBear18 · 11/09/2017 18:22

Ah ignore the numbers - I was trying to copy & paste but these are not the numbers I was copying. Sorry Blush

CaptainsCat · 11/09/2017 18:31

Has anybody else's morning sickness kicked off yet? Mine is really getting started now, and I'm not quite six weeks yet, was hoping it would hold off a little longer!

MegsMog · 11/09/2017 19:09

Captains not really - it's one of the reasons I'm still not hugely optimistic about this pregnancy TBH. I feel queasy, and quite bloated / achey, but not properly sick yet.

I think with DD it had kicked in by now (6+1). It was hell though and I have no idea how I would cope with sickness & an enthusiastic two year old, so I'm certainly not wishing for it!!
