Deqoony31 · 30/07/2017 18:48

Hi everyone! Newbie here! I'm 33+6 and its my first one...super glad to see there are others just like me Smile
I can't seem to figure out if my baby is transverse or breech or head down, I'm thinking he keeps moving around, is that normal? Anyone else confused? Hmm

Tessa84 · 30/07/2017 19:50

@Deqoony31!
Hello :)
Since I have extra growth scans I was able to confirm the position on Fri. In my case the baby is already head down and there is a "lump" on my bump at the right side, which is her bottom. Grin along goes the spine, and the legs are folded pointing towards the left like the hands. I usually feel hands and legs movementso to the left and sometimes also like the bum sticking out more to the right but she has stopped moving side ways or up and down for a bit.

Maybe some of this helps you identify your baby's position :) bigger lumps are head or bump (so I'm told!) But it is also possible that the baby is still moving and changing about lots and won't settle till later!

Deqoony31 · 30/07/2017 20:13

Wow Tessa, thanks alot! Yeah I guess I'll keep an eye out for the big lumps Grin. I have the 34 week appointment with the midwife on tuesday so i'll see if she can figure it out then...hopefully head down fingers crossed
You mentioned something about extra growth scans, bit curious about how they decided she's growing rapidly. At my very first scan, baby was big so they just bumped my EDD to 2 weeks earlier (13 weeks turned into 15). Doubt it'll change now, but it has made me unsure of my due date, and a bit worried might be induced too early. Just praying he decides to show up on time. Confused

Hi London,

A lot better in some ways, struggling in others!!

Why must a 3yo suddenly become SUPER ACTIVE AND WANT TO DO EVERYTHING LOOK AT ME MUMMY WOWWWWW!!!!!! When all I want to do is nap 😩😩.

Question for all mamas... from my first pregnancy I remember having luscious hair that I adored and had loads of comments on. Now it's thin, lank and gets greasy like every other day. Was on a type of chemo as a hormonal treatment for endometriosis when I got pregnant (which is against all odds apparently) so could it be something to do with that?

Either way I'm sweaty, breathless, still having pains (but now infrequent), tired and craving baths and nice hair!!

It is nearly the end right??

Tessa84 · 30/07/2017 21:00

@Deqoony31, quite the opposite.. I got the extra growth scans because at the 12 week scan the placenta had a low figure of a hormone called PAPP A, which they link to higher risk of pre-eclampsia and smaller growth in babies.. so they want to check more often, and I have been having scans every 4 weeks since week 20. Week 28 gave us a scare with a sudden measurement drop but she has put on some weight now by 32 :) she is still a small.baby but I'm a petite person.. so I wasn't expecting a large baby Grin

Not long for your midwife appointment! I'm sure she will be able to tell you the position then!!

@ArchieStar stay strong! Nearly the end, yes!!! Stay strong! Sorry to hear you were poorly.. i dont know about the hair thing!I haven't found much difference with it... apart from having to epilate my legs much less often, which I would love if it was a permanent change.. though I doubt it!Grin

Deqoony31 · 30/07/2017 22:09

@tessa84 oh dear! I had no idea! Must have been stressful constantly monitoring her but hopefully no more scares and your cute little princess will be home soon...Wink

@ArchieStar Aww so sorry to hear about that. But we're almost there! Hang in there just a littleee bit more! Smile
As for hair growth...I did see some baby hairs around my hair line that I never had before but thats about it really...and I'm being told they'll be gone soon along with a bunch of my hair after baby is here...so much for pregnancy positives Grin

Beachbaby2017 · 01/08/2017 04:00

Thanks for the welcome :)

Tessa the position you described is exactly where my little one seems to be too. Last week, the nurse thought he was in that position, just by palpating and listening, but I'll find out for sure when I have an ultrasound on Wednesday :)

Archie My hair has been quite nice lately. It was very greasy in the first trimester. I have thick hair and can usually go ages without washing it but I had to wash it daily in the early weeks.

My app says the baby is the size of a butternut squash so my DH bought a butternut squash to compare! He got me to hold it up to the side of my bump and it seemed about right Grin My mum, who used to work with premature babies, said that seemed right to her too. Baby butternut Smile

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/08/2017 07:00

Today is going to be a bad day. I know it. I've been awake and in agony, complete and utter agony, with my hips since 5.40 am. I can't get comfy laying down and trying to move even 1cm is excruciating.
I've had a cold for about a month now. Latest development with that is the cough. I'm now desperately guzzling water and sacking on cough sweets to keep the cough at bay as each cough makes my hips hurt and brings tears to my eyes!!

7 weeks to go. Oh how I hope this baby comes at 36/37 weeks. What I would give to be able to roll over in bed without being in pain!!!!! Sad
Bloody SPD Angry

EssentialHummus · 01/08/2017 07:53

Flowers cold hope it's an easy day.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 01/08/2017 08:19

That sounds really tough cold. Do you have the chance to get some rest today? SPD is bad enough without adding in other illness. I think you deserve a day of cake.

Tessa84 · 01/08/2017 08:50

Beach! Yay for our babies! Hopefully they stay on that position till the end, or go back there if they move ahahah

Cold, so sorry to hear that! SPD is awful ;( and adding other stuff.. argh Hope you start feeling better very soon!!!

ArchieStar · 01/08/2017 08:55

Cold I hope you have an easier day today love!

SayItIsntSo1 · 01/08/2017 09:30

Cold that sounds rubbish. I hope the day gets better for you.

I worked out this morning I have 10 days left in the office before I start mat leave! Can't wait!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/08/2017 11:04

In some ways my day will be at little easier - I have just dropped DD off at summer camp (3 hrs). I now have about 1.5hrs on my own before I need to leave to collect her. This afternoon she has her weekly dinner at my parents so I'll drop her off there, come home and meet plumber, then have afternoon 'to myself'. DH will cook dinner when he gets in. But there is so much to do indoors I can't spend the day laying down and resting. Daily chores like washing etc still need doing at the very least. I've given up asking for help with stuff. I messaged my mum this morning, hoping there would at least be the offer of picking DD up from summer school, save me sitting in the car for over another hour. No. I just get a message saying "oh dear. That's not good". I asked my sister if she can help DH spin our mattress later (it's super king - no way I can help lift) when she's at ours in the hope it might help me sleep better tonight. It will literally take her 2 mins and she'll be at our house later anyway. But obviously it's too much trouble cos all I get back is can't DH do it on his own?!
I just bloody well give up. I hate that I have to ask people for help. I'd be much happier if I could crack on and get on with everything myself and not have to rely on others who either let me down or don't let me forget every little thing that they do for me.
Sorry for the rant. I've just seriously had enough and I've spent most of the day crying so far. And DH probably won't be in until 4pm at the earliest (left at 6am) so I can't even get a cuddle Sad

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/08/2017 12:34

Ok. I take some of that back. My mum has called to see how I am and offer to pick up DD.

Beachbaby2017 · 01/08/2017 14:16

Cold I'm sorry you're in so much pain! I'm glad your mum called but I'm sorry it's been hard to get help. Can you let yourself off the hook housework wise for one day? Rest is so important and you're actually "doing" something all the time by gestating!

If you can't rotate the mattress, could sleeping with your head at the other end help?

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/08/2017 14:29

Hey beach. I've pottered and done what housework I can today. Washed up and cleaned kitchen. One load of washing and tidied lounge. Not much but I don't think I can physically do anymore anyway. DH will be home before 3 and I have very helpfully written out a to do list for him. Though what I've asked him to do won't take him very long it will be a great help to me. Especially ferrying things up and down the stairs. He might be extra helpful and loving today. I've called him every 2 hrs and half of the time I've been crying.

Yes. If mattress doesn’t get spun round tonight I'll either sleep at tye foot end or swap sides with DH. I would feel a lot better if I got a half decent nights sleep!!

RealBabyFoodBaby · 01/08/2017 14:37

Cold glad your mum is helping out. Hopefully the mattress will get sorted or you'll sleep better on the other side/end.

Anybody else keep forgetting how big they are? I keep misjudging my size and unbalancing myself. Nearly toppled over a few times Blush

Beachbaby2017 · 01/08/2017 15:06

Cold sleep makes all the difference, doesn't it? I hope switching things around helps.

Real I have nearly fallen backwards a few times because I forget where my centre of gravity is now. And I constantly try to squeeze through places or between people that I totally can't fit through. I'm usually pretty small (as in petite, not skinny), and I'm really not used to not fitting in small spaces!

WhiteLily86 · 01/08/2017 22:59

cold that sounds pants, hope you get some much needed help!

realbaby yes!! Seems to be doors for me, opening them and bashing my tummy as I forget how far I am protruding 😂 poor baby 🙈

fluffywallow · 02/08/2017 07:27

Cold what a time of it you're having, Flowers take it as easy as you can.

My toddler has decided to not sleep which is great timing! Hope she is sleeping again by time baby arrives - don't think I can handle two non sleepers!

Was in the hospital again yesterday - waters again. But they're saying they don't think it is so I'm just going to have to believe them now. It's just so hard when they missed it before (with my DD) to believe them!!!

londonfeather · 02/08/2017 10:07

Has anyone had their appointment where they write the birth plan yet? Thinking of brining DH... has anyone else?

EssentialHummus · 02/08/2017 10:09

london - not yet. But I think bringing DH is a great idea, I want him to be fully aware of my preferences etc.

OP posts:
Lules · 02/08/2017 10:27

No - I think you do it at 36 weeks. I remember last time the midwife just read it and didn't really discuss it. I guess it depends how strong your preferences are and what they are.

SayItIsntSo1 · 02/08/2017 12:47

You have my sympathies fluffy. I really feel it when dd (3.5) has a bad nights sleep. It's tough when you're out of practice.

Is anyone else getting sharp stabby pains on their cervix? I don't remember them with dd and it doesn't feel like a bowling ball down there so can't imagine it's babies head popping in and out. More like feet/hands? Really takes my breath away! Confused
