I'm still symptomless and it's worrying me!

I registered at the doctors today, so it's nice to have ticked something off and have said it out loud to someone. Looking forward to my first midwife appointment now. Keeping everything crossed I get that far.

I'm having a slight panic about some crab I ate yesterday. I checked it was cooked and it was which means it's on the safe list but I got an upset stomach immeaditely after. It was only a 'one time' incident (sorry for all the details!) and I feel fine now but I'm worried I've done something to harm the baby. Has anyone got any reassurance for me? The worrying is intense isn't it!

Hope everyone is feeling good xx

thecraftyfox · 03/08/2017 10:01

Stonesour, I wasn't offended. I only know what it is because of a song too, it's mentioned in a LeTigre song.

My sleep is awful and I need to wee about 5 times a night! The nausea is definitely increasing. Its a positive sign for a sticky but I am so afraid of being so ill again (and potentially weeks off work)

Stonesourfangirl · 03/08/2017 10:23

No worries crafty, I couldn't keep the name in good conscience after finding out what it was! Still love the song tho (it has no ref to the drug at all)

FuzzyOwl · 03/08/2017 10:52

babydreaming they really are unreliable. Mine was still saying 2-3 when I was definitely several days over five weeks.

stonesour I had no idea about your previous username either.

Hope everyone is doing ok today.

crispydumpling · 03/08/2017 11:13

I've just done a digital test and it says 2-3 weeks although I'm 5+2 by dates but I've got insomnia, nausea, dizziness and keep bursting into tears so I feel pretty pregnant! Just hope I don't have hyperemesis this time 🤞🏻

FuzzyOwl · 03/08/2017 11:26

crispy I also have insomnia, dizzy spells and am very emotional. I don't have morning sickness but I do already have heartburn.

crispydumpling · 03/08/2017 14:12

Ahhh heartburn is horrible @Fuzzy have you been taking anything for it?

The bursting into tears is really annoying, particularly in the middle of the supermarket for no good reason

FuzzyOwl · 03/08/2017 14:42

Just been prescribed omeprazole crispy. And yes to the bursting into tears although I've only done it once today which is good going.

I feel like my asthma is worse this week. Have a cough and am reaching for my reliever every few hours when I could usually go weeks or even months without touching it. Is this happening to anyone else? Guess I'll leave it til next week and see the asthma nurse if it doesn't improve.

Sam91TRS15 · 03/08/2017 15:47

Hi Liv, I def notice my asthma moreso while pregnant, like you I barely touch my inhaler. I only really need it when hayfever is bad or I have a cold. I also struggle just with walking, I'm not the fastest walker having little legs, but when I'm pregnant an 80 year old would look like a speed walker next to me... I guess all our energy is down in our womb looking after the baby x

Thelostsock · 03/08/2017 16:32

@Sam91TRS15 and @LivLemler my asthma is also noticeable whereas normally it would only appear in the winter. I'm still at the same levels of activeness but my breathing is so shallow and just walking up the stairs requires a sit down recovery!

LivLemler · 03/08/2017 17:02

Thanks guys - sorry you're also suffering but it's reassuring to hear I'm not alone! Can't believe it's worse already, my period was only due today! FFS. Oh well, I'll try take it as a good sign.

Merowdiff · 03/08/2017 22:20

Are there any Mums to be who are also diagnosed with chronic/lifelong health conditions? I've been seeing the Gastro team for nearly 2 years and they still can't decide between UC and Crohn's. My doctor has told me to carry on with medication (Salofalk) but actually because my digestive system has slowed down I've found I'm feeling much better at the moment! Was just curious to hear any other stories is all, and maybe chat to people who are dealing with something similar? Hope everyone is feeling well today 🙂

InsomniacDormouse · 04/08/2017 10:17

I only check in with MN a few times a week, just caught up with all the new posts!

@Merowdiff Glad you are feeling better! I've had type 1 diabetes for 26 years which means I have to be very strict with my blood sugars in pregnancy. Last time I managed well but I had to be on top of my sugars 24/7 which was mentally draining. The pregnancy hormones make things very unpredictable! It also means I have loads of hospital checks so between the midwife/diabetes consultant/eye checks I ended up having an appointment at least every week or two and growth scans every month.

MrsDneedsaB · 04/08/2017 11:18

@Merowdiff & @InsomniacDormouse I have a "womanhood" long condition of prolactinoma, which is a tumour on the pituitary gland. The certain medication I am on I am not allowed to take in pregnancy, there are other forms I could take but they make me terribly ill so I have to go without.

I am also supposed to be on metformin due to insulin resistance but that made my hair fall out!!! ShockShock so instead I take the natural supplement of Inositol and that is fine to take during pregnancy.

And I also have IBS which tends to flare up when I'm pg, I can take one IBS relief tablet to see if it helps but I am not advised to take them too often. So far I've only taken one, been too scared to have any more and have just dealt with toilet situations, when you have IBS you get over the embarrassment pretty quickly.

If the doctors are ok with you carrying on with the meds then I see no reason not to take them unless there are significant claims to risk. Do you know if there are any natural alternatives? Ones that may be considered safe in pregnancy?
I have read that people with crohns tend to get a break from their symptoms when they're pregnant, I'm so hoping this is the case for you! You don't want to be feeling doubly crap and not be able to do anything about it!! It's bad enough that we can't take anything for a stinking cold and we will all be pregnant in winter - doh! Confused

InsomniacDormouse · 04/08/2017 11:51

@MrsDneedsaB Ooof, that sounds like a rough deal. Can you take peppermint for the IBS?

A family friend has Crohn's and she did get some relief during her two pregnancies. I think it something to do with the body's autoimmune response being less during pregnancy to protect the baby.

Wings13 · 04/08/2017 12:01

Hi all, can I join please? 7+4 with 3rd. Excited but freaking a bit also as wasn't exactly planned. Thought we were done at 2! Is anyone using an app to track their pregnancy? What is the best one? There weren't that many around the last time I was pg. booked into doc today and cause of long cycle 1st appt is end of August.

MrsDneedsaB · 04/08/2017 12:05

I know I sound like I've got a right barrage of stuff going on and it sound worse then it actually is - or maybe I've just learnt to live with it lol!

The IBS I just steer away from the foods I know aggravate it, I'd rather reduce the chance of a flare up over treating it. Although I will keep peppermint in mind for next time I have a slip up and have no willpower against my cravings LOL!

MrsDneedsaB · 04/08/2017 14:11

Ladies I've just started bleeding - bright red out of nowhere! No pain either.

What do I do?!

Stonesourfangirl · 04/08/2017 14:23

So sorry to hear that MrsD Flowers
How much blood? Could still all be fine but I would ring your epu for advise x

MrsDneedsaB · 04/08/2017 15:00

It's enough blood now to be sure I'm no longer in the game Sad

Hope you all have sticky beans.

Mimilicious013 · 04/08/2017 15:18

Ohhh no mrsd .could you go to the epu like stones said? Keeping everything crossed it's not the end

Stonesourfangirl · 04/08/2017 15:32

MrsD pls contact your epu, they may find a reason for the bleed that doesn't affect baby. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Merowdiff · 04/08/2017 15:48

*MrsD please get yourself in to see someone today if you haven't already done so! Big hugs from me to you and lots of good vibes Flowers
*Dormouse wowsers I can't imagine having to keep Diabetes balanced as well as anything else - you must feel like you're spinning plates! Like you, I expect to be seeing doctors and specialists more regularly throughout pregnancy. In fact I've been putting off telling my IBD nurses as they'll freak. I had best do so though, got bloods due soon...

Merowdiff · 04/08/2017 15:50

MrsD I clicked on flowers but appear to have got a bottle of Gordon's :-(
