Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

hana - I'm sure I had put on that much by 20 weeks when I was having dd (mostly on my thighs I think!) I gave up weighing myself after a while (and especially reading those bloody articles about how much weight gain is "normal" ). I only weighed myself again at the end - I'd put on 4 stone in total which is much more than they say you "should" but I lost it all soon after dd was born without really trying.

Nimme · 04/08/2004 10:55

Hana - yeah I mean those horrid things at the sides. Can live with them when wearing vest of sorts but not in this heat. Come evening I am scratching away, tucking top in, turning top of trousers inside out - HATE them .

As for the weigth you are not alone. I stopped weighing myself when the scales told me I'd put on 8 kilos (sometime ago). I have been so much better this time round and feel miffed to say the least. I go to gym 2-3 times weekly (didn't before), I eat much better and try drink more water. I do eat a good 3 meals a day plus many many snacks - mainly fruit but the odd biscuit/chocolate bar/ice cream does slip in there. I am very much hoping it will start to slow down soon. Last time I put on 3 stone 2 of which disappeared instantly - had to work hard on the third. Guess it'll be the same again. DH will have to fork out for personal trainer so I do not plummet into PND feeling fat, tired, ugly, sluggish....

Sorry if that didn't help - but at least we can whinge together

thank you gg, seabird and nimme!! and anyone else who is in the same boat! With dd's pregnancy, I gained quite a lot (am glad I breastfed, great way to loose weight post baby) I guess I'll be about the same this time too. Eating well and drinking water, I should try and swim a bit more. thanks for making me feel better
part of me would like to think it's water retention however!!!!

Congrats Smelly Melly.

Weight, oops, I'm 5' 7 and I've been 10st 10 for the last 2 years, weighted myself the other day and I'm 10st 12, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. Somehow, I have a lovely bump at the front, but cant explain why I've not put on any weight, maybe it's these hot nights, and I've sweated (oops perspired) it away

I always wore elasticated trousers for work, which makes it easy now, and I've never bought any maternity clothes. Altho I did succumb the other day and bought a pair of Mat trousers as they were straight legged, and matched my blazer, plus they were reduced at Tesco's from £25 to £15, to £7, what a bargain .

See Nimme - waffle waffle waffle, handbags at 10am

Nimme · 05/08/2004 09:25

Ronniebaby - are you sure. Not in only do I have my pregnancy nails but with my added weigth I will just storm at you and be done with it

And another whinge from me. The internal furnance has kicked in and I am boiling. Especially the crevice under my boobs seem to "perspire" - or sweat buckets actually. Today I shall try and use some deo there as I am embarrassed to be walking around with 2 very telling sweat patches

Jimjams · 05/08/2004 14:55

I'm scratching from the elasticy sides as well. Luckily my mum bought me some of the HUGEST maternity pants I have ever seen so if I remember to wear those underneath I'm OK...

Ronniebaby · 05/08/2004 22:31

Jimjams - ooooo so sexy Big maternity pants

Nimme, ok I know when to back down, if you bigger than me

Altho I do know what you mean about under boobs, never had it with DS, I've had my internal furnace on for about 2 months now, it's great as I have th coldest feet ever going normally , and I'm walking about with no socks on (yippppeeee)

hana · 06/08/2004 18:51

how was everyone with the heat today? I hate hate hate sweating under my boobs!
have a great weekend girls!

OP posts:
PotPourri · 09/08/2004 15:00

Ooooh this heat. Not that we should be complaining mind, as we complain about rubbish summers usually - but ohhhhhh, this heat!!! I am a right sweaty mess, and with my 'interesting' dress sense now that I am restricted in what I can fit into, I feel like a right mess at work.

I think a nice big Solero is in order...

honeybunny · 09/08/2004 18:31

Didnt really sleep at all last night what with the heat and the beginnings of indigestion and ds2 playing up, so feeling decidedly fractious today!! What we need here in Knet is a good storm.

honeybunny · 09/08/2004 18:31

Sorry, thats Kent!

ginger29 · 09/08/2004 19:45

Hi all. Am also back after long absence. Was v busy at work previously but have just got back from lovely holiday in Brittany. Lots of swimming in sea and lying down reading. Jealous of DP and others we were with eating pate and soft cheese but consoled myself with lots of crepes and nutella.
Went back to work today and shocked all who did not know about baby as my bump has finally decided to show itself in last couple of weeks (am 22 weeks). Was getting a bit sick of lots of 'are you sure you're pregnant?' comments.
Somehow am still in jeans but with increasing chocolate, ice cream and cake consumption cannot see this continuing.
Nice to hear about everyone's scans. Ronniebaby - my baby also was quite camera shy and making it v difficult for sonographer to get good images but all seemed okay. Did not find out sex but don't think she would have been able to see it anyway.
Has anyone experimented with different music and kicks? Baby seems to kick about a lot to some of our louder, more rocky cd's and we are trying to guess whether this is good - having a dance about - or 'shut up mummy and daddy!'
Glad to be back online with you all!

Jimjams · 11/08/2004 16:25

It's a boy. So we will be booking the speech therapist from birth

Will definitely be a section- prob before xmas. Feeling a bit more reassured as they said because of the adhesions it will be carried out by a senior surgeon.

Ronniebaby · 14/08/2004 16:48

Ginger Glad you had a nice hols.

Jimjams, happy its a boy.

Hope all you ladies are well, the bloody heat dont help, but I aint complaining.

hana · 16/08/2004 13:01

ginger - can't believe you're still in jeans! I've got a nicely rounded belly now and def look pregnant!
I finally had my scan last week and everything is fine and normal - decided not to find out the sex. Will know soon enough! Quite a wait (3 hours) had it at the Harris Birthright Center at Kings College.....also had a fetal cardiac scan which was really interesting. Pleased that everything was so thorough but what a wait!!
Just hanging in there I guess....really looking forward to dd starting pre-school in a few weeks time.
JJ- a boy! That's great! Have you picked out his name yet? Good news too about your section.

Fed up with SPD, its giving me some real jip at the mo. Helped by pilates this morning, but deteriorated rapidly with 2hrs ironing this afternoon while the kiddies played trains. Had a nice walk thru the local woodland and picked some delicious blackberries, kids with black smiley faces for the rest of the trip. Getting ready for our 2week summer hol in France....cant wait. Just hope the weather is kind to us.
Whats everyone else been up to today?

fortnight · 19/08/2004 21:08

hi everyone! I can't really sympathise with anyone feeling the heat,as I live in Ireland and it's certainly not splitting the stones here. Still, at least by the time the colder weather comes the internal furnaces should have really kicked in.
hana,I know what you mean about feeling big.I had two people ask me today if I had long to go!I had to laugh.I think it's mostly bump-I'm not tall so it just shows on me after the 20 week mark.I'm not feeling quite so hungry these days,so I'm not eating quite so much.Still, I read something in a magazine the other day which said that women who ate a lot of chocolate were more likely to have happier, more contented babies. Nice one

Ronniebaby · 23/08/2004 22:31

Hi everyone, hope all is well.

I've been going thru a stage over the last few days, whereby I cant be ar**d to sit in front of my pc for too long, maybe it has something to do with the constant battering I get from within my tum.

So I thought I would post today just to say HIYA.

Now I'm going to bed to lie down and take the battering in comfort

lilymum · 24/08/2004 11:06

Hi all, just back from 3 weeks in North Wales, and I've returned MASSIVE. Resemble someone in the last trimester, great as am barely 5 months. Have had growth spurt obviously while on hols, maybe something to do with ice-cream, fish and chips, and cream teas... I do like my food!

honeybunny - are the Isabella Oliver clothes worth investing in? I know they're pricey, and this is pregnancy no 4 and probably(!) the last, but I'm so fed up with all my old pg wear. Sorry to hear you have bad SPD. I suffered with dd2 for a few months. Have you tried osteopathy? It might help.

PotPourri · 24/08/2004 18:52

Hi girls. Nice to hear everyone is ok. It's gone quiet, so I guess we are all feeling a little tired these days! I can't get a nights sleep, but not complaining. I'm still having a lovely time being pregnant, and I too am getting big, with lots of hammering going on.

Cool weather on the way by the looks of it, and I must admit I am not complaining as the heat was really taking it out of me.

scubamum2b · 26/08/2004 17:56

had 2nd scan today - no major holes found in the heart. Still small chance that there is one as small as mine or one that is too small to pick up on scan.

Baby has been having regular 'disco' sessions, and seems on occassion to kick in response to me proding my belly. I was joking that baby is trying to find a way out and have told him/her to be born before Xmas, and then the scan showed his/her head down - a little bit early for preparation especially when a holiday is planned in a weeks time.

hope other mums2b are feeling well as we have gone a bit quiet

Ronniebaby · 26/08/2004 20:42

Hiya ladies.

Well I went to my ante natal today, and when I had my last scan baby was head down too Scuba, today baby is still in the head down position, but still on track according to my dates. And yep Scuba, as soon as the MW put the foetal heart monitor on I said expect a kick or 2, and right on cue, there were 6 movements, MW said oooo very active then, like I dont know it ;)

My son once said that my belly/tummy button was a window for baby to see out of (cute), then said baby wants out now, and I was only 18 weeks at the time

Still I told baby and keep saying I want its birth on the 16th of December not the due date of the 17th, gives me an extra day b4 xmas and it wont have to share its birthday with anyone we know.

Hope all is well with everyone.

hana · 27/08/2004 17:11

scubamum - are you flying somewhere? I did a posting earlier today about flying at 24/25 weeks and just being worried about it (it's about a 4.5 hour flight) Just really worried about anything happening to baby because of my previous m/cs.
On the clothes side of things - I can really recomment Top Shop mat jeans! Went to the Oxford St Branch the other day and they are fab! Have bought some nice things at Asda too.
I'm back to work next week but only for a few months of course
Thats good news too about the heart Scubamum
My first appt to see someone (GP) since my booking in is FINALLY early next week. Been ages since I've had any appts it seems!
