Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

ah honeybuynny was about to post a similar post. I am so exhausted this pregnancy. Don't remember it being this bad before. Must be because its the third. DS2 (who is 2) seems to have hit the teens early and ds1 is just does his usual autistic stunts. He has got very good at climbing and I keep finding him in all sorts of nightmare places then have to lift him down (except he keeps his legs straight to make it difficult to get down). He's also taken to running, made it to the end of the street before I caught up with him last week (with the painter doing up next door in hot pursuit as well). That gave me a few braxton hicks! So by the end of the day I'm exhausted!

At least it hasn't been full moon for a while so have had some good nights sleep (ds1 always wakes up for hours during the full moon).

Janos · 14/09/2004 21:25

Hi froggiebaby, and welcome to the thread
Buying Maternity cothes in France sounds like a nightmare.

Had my 28 week midwife appointment today, everything fine except I am measuring 34cm - apparently that's really big for my dates - and I have been referred for a dating scan next Monday. That's my dp's birthday and he's coming along too so hopefully it will be a nice birthday treat for him.

Oh yeah by the way I'm ENORMOUS. I'll be as wide as I am tall at this rate!

georginars · 15/09/2004 11:04

I have nothing much to add except I am enormous and can't believe there are still 11 weeks to go!
Welcome froggiebaby! I read an article in the times a few weeks ago by a british (I think woman) having her baby in France and how the emphasis was all on keeping weight off and then I think she got about a weeks grace after the birth before everyone started on at her to get back into shape - 'you must think of 'votre marie'' (excuse my French!). It sounded like a nightmare and made me reach for my maltesers....
Hi steffalump as well, wish I could help but not in Newcastle, am near Twickenham. And it's my first baby, but I am hoping beyond hope that it won't come late! I hear that it's not uncommon though so trying not to think about it.
Redundancy talk drags on, husband probably not being made redundant but moving location and no chance of any pay rises, so he needs to get his skates on and find a new one. Still trying to come up with that grand life changing plan to take advantage of the situation, but can't concentrate on anything until my job finally replies to my threat of legal action! (they've gone very quiet)
Anyway, I'm rambling! Any news from anyone else?

PotPourri · 15/09/2004 12:20

Hi. I had my 28 weeks appointment on Monday and all is well. Baby is measuring about right (28cm, so 34 must be quite big Janos). I also got an Anti D injection. I wasn't expecting this as my letter didn't arrive telling me about it, but fortunately I had read up on it and as it is now advised to give it twice in pregnancy and once after the birth if hte baby is positive blood group, then I just said yes. Midwife was really lovely this time, so my mind is much more at ease.

I am walking on air most of the time, and very little seems to stress me. Long may this continue!!

How's everyone else? ANyone started Antenatal classes or anything? I'm doing Yoga, adn still trying to sort out some antenatal as I am getting SCARED now at the thought of giving birth..

MiniB · 15/09/2004 14:36

Hi, my first baby is due on 2nd December, I'm not sure whether to join this thread or Novembers, but 1st babies often seem to be late! I've just started antenatel classes. It's nice to see other fat ladies, and find out most of us are similar sizes, especially when everyone seems to tell you how big you look . The baby kicks alot but DH & I are very excited. I've been reading mumsnet for a while so it's nice to finally join you all

ginger29 · 15/09/2004 17:36

Hi all.
Pot pourri - I also have to have the anti-d jabs. 1st one next week. Also had no idea I was rhesus neg until now. Still, extra two mornings off work!
I am enjoying preg yoga and swimming which makes me feel almost weightless for half an hour - must be a good thing.
Seem to have come to an emotional / grumpy stage in the pregnancy (28wks). DP very happy about this latest development of course. Anyone else experiencing this?
I also highly reccommend Top Shop mat jeans. V comfy.
Hope you all are well and cooler nights helping everyone sleep better.
Anyone here in East London?

Nimme · 15/09/2004 17:58

Welcome Froggiebaby and MiniB.

Had 28 week appointment today. All seems fine. She has turned head down - it actually happend a couple of weeks ago - loads of pressure on pelvis. GP and midwife keep telling me she can turn and turn again but DD1 went head down early and stayed that way. I have discovered some less attractive veins showing themselves on upper thigh - I am NOT impressed. This baby seems to take a bit more out of me than the first - I just pray the boobs don't complete disappear.

Am realising there's so many things I have to get done in the next few weeks. I am plotting away at x-mas pressies - all from catalogues/websites this year. Bought the buggy - with a 6 week delivery time that's just as well. Must dig out whatever scraps of baby clothes I kept (I wasn't having more than one and gave most away). DD1 started school last week and only goes from 9-12 -I am finding it quite tricky to fit everything in to those hours.

And finally - (Ronniebaby I am now blabbing for the record here!) I met really nice midwife today. Have started praying that she'll be there on the big day.... Anyone else started plotting/worrying about the birth?

Ronniebaby · 15/09/2004 23:11

Hi Ladies, hope all is well.

I have to finally admit that I am getting to that stage of 27+ wweks, of feeling uncomfortable, whether I sit, stand, lie or anything else, I feel full all the time even when I'm hungry, backs aching more now.

I never had any of this with DS, WOW what a difference this Preg is.

Tired Ronniebaby

Ronniebaby · 15/09/2004 23:14

Nimme, you always babble, so I thought I'd add a couple of postings matey.

Seriously hope all is well, I've met my midwife previously, and go to my 28 week apptmnt next week, have to give blood too .

Ronniebaby · 15/09/2004 23:15

Nimme - Nope not even thought about xmas, altho the card shop had a sale of xmas cards so I bought some, must be last years stock, but I dont care.

And finally (to quote Nimme ) Welcome to Froggiebaby and MiniB. Join the mad December lot. just for you Nimme

PotPourri · 16/09/2004 09:47

Welcome Mini & Froggie. Very nice to have some more joiners.

Yipee! I have got signed up for an antenatal class. After worrying loads, I am soooooo relieved to have a class sorted out. It will run during the day for 3 week days and one weekend (couples session). So I will get some time off work!! And there are a few girls from near me in the same class, so the NCT lady told me. Can't wait to meet people and to talk about the birth. It's all a really scary prospect in my mind, but I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel now that I have the classes organised.

Ginger, I am also quite grumpy. Well grumpy when I am not walking on air and not stressed. It's a bit like a roller coaster actually. I get really impatient with people on the phone, especially customer services staff if they are just not being reasonable..

Am quite organised for christmas . I have family visiting from Scotland in the next few months, so thought I could send it all up with them.

Nimme · 16/09/2004 11:07

Thank you Ronnie

I am impressed, saw you posted past 11pm. I am in bed around 9 every night. It is very very sad but I am exhausted. Also have builders restructuring living room so nowhere comfy to sit/lie.

Potpourri - I am also doing a NCT course soon. Hope to be told how to cope with real contractions if I decide to be brave. I was induced and had epidural last time. Nice midwife yesterday told me we could do same this time and didn't try to push me either way. I dread NCT trying to do that as I had quite good experience. Nice midwife also told me she thought it would be fast based on last time - I so want to believe her.

for you all
and one more for Ronnie

MiniB · 16/09/2004 14:03

Thankyou for my welcome to this thread

Nimme and Potpourri, I'm also signed up for the NCT, loads of friends have been recommending it to us.

I'm just beginning to think about christmas too, I think my hormones are getting the better of me as I find myself panicking that there isn't much time until the baby is born, and I won't be able to do anything after it's born. But I know I have loads of time, I'm 29 weeks today

Ronniebaby · 16/09/2004 23:24

Sorry it is 11.25pm, so not thinking straight, bit dense, what is NCT????? Preggo brain.

Cheers Nimme

Soooo tired going to bed now

PotPourri · 17/09/2004 12:17

It's National Childbirth trust. They do lots of education and stuff, and actually have a good website. Lots of people recommended them for Antenatal classes which is why I know about them. Have a look on google and type in National Childbirth Trust and it will bring up the link.

11.30? That is late. I am in bed by about 9.30 each night. Not that I sleep well mind you, but I fall asleep on the sofa if I don't go to bed

lilymum · 19/09/2004 20:40

Hi all, also very tired but feeling a bit smug too, because I started my Xmas shopping in May, but think I'm might be starting to annoy my family, as I'm constantly asking what they want for Christmas. And if I can't get it mail order, they're not getting it at all. I hate trailing round shops, and went to Bhs on Saturday with dd1 to get her a new school dress, and was utterly exhausted after about 20 minutes.

Janos, I was 28cm at my 24 week appointment, and have to go back soon for my midwife to assess the situation. Hope the dating scan goes OK.

fortnight · 21/09/2004 11:36

Hello all! I've had a busy few weeks, having packed ds off to school and dd off to playschool. The organising is a bit tricky, but it is worth it for the two mornings I get to myself each week. I may as well enjoy it while it lasts. I have also finished work,as I was finding it a bit tiring. My 28 week blood test showed that my iron levels are quite low,so I have to start taking something for that. I'm a bit disappointed, as I was eating well, plenty of red meat and everything. I am also getting fed up of people making comments about how big I look-if I wasn't pregnant no-one would comment on my size! And theres almost 3 more months to go! Nevermind,I hope I have a decent sized baby anyway.

Nimme · 21/09/2004 18:31

Ditto that Fortnight. Not a day goes past without someone mentioning the size of my bump - do they not think I have a mirror which I use to horrify myself with in the morning. Can't do evenings as legs and feet swollen by then. Also got myself some lovely veins sprouting down one thigh. Not quite vericose but still!!

Better be cute, sweet, easy, sleeping-all-the-time angel baby

hana · 21/09/2004 18:59

I go away for a week and it's been busier than ever on this thread!! I did wear the bikini....lots of stares of course. DD asked me why I was wearing my pants on the beach though....

Welcome to froggiebaby and Minib.......first baby for both of you?

I'm feeling that time is standing still now, I still think of myself as about 17 ot 18 weeks pregnant, but am nearly 27 now. Yikes!! Saw my GP at 24 weeks so next appt is with midwife for glucose test.
DD has started preschool now 3 mornings a week, so hoping to do lovely things like swimming and yoga when she is away. 2.5 hours I bet will go very quickly though!
PP - I never got into any NCT classes first time around, dind't know about them but did do a post natal discussion thing with them which was great - ran for 10 weeks, about 12 mums and the babies meeting weekly. Am quite good friends with 5 of them now, 3 years later. I'm going to to the refresher class for this one closer to Nov.
Am jealous of those of you closer to 30 weeks than me!!!

oh gggg.......
didn't realise your situation, how awful. And you have older kids too, don't you? Are things any better now? Sounds like you're getting lots of support and time from the professional.
We don't have anything ready for this baby - will use all of dd's old things, so it's a matter of finding the clothes and washing them, and dusting off the moses basket/cot. She never used either of those though, they are 'as new'!! Baby will go in spare room - plan to set up a corner, we still need the spare room, and will when the time is right - put dd and the baby in a room together. That seems light years away!
As for Chrismtas shopping - had started some during the summer, but haven't done anything for weeks and weeks. Time to have a look at the list again.....
Chin up anyways gggggggg, you'll have all that extra time with your little baby once it does come out into the great wide world!

also have no names, nothing firm anyways!

Janos · 21/09/2004 21:18

Hi, hope everyone is keeping well, not too tired and achey.

Had my growth scan on Monday and apparently baby's head is normal size for dates (29+ 5), but abdomen size is off the scale...I'm going into hospital on Thursday for gestational diabetes tests. At least I get a day off work. Mat Leave starts in just over a month, and I can't wait.

Ggglimpopo (love your nickname!), All we have got is the pushchair..still tons to buy. Anetnatal classes start next week, NHS and NCT. I've been warned that the NCT is a bit knit your own muesli but lots of ppl have recommended it so I'll see how it goes.

PotPourri · 23/09/2004 11:57

Hi all. Hanah, at wearing your bikini. Good on you girl. Ggggglimpo, glad to hear things are looking up a bit. You keep taking it easy.

I am quite organised for Christmas, but starting to panic about the baby bits. Nto sure why as I am only 30 weeks so in theory have 10 more weeks. but I just want it all set up yesterday now (nesting??). The obsessive cleaning has now stopped and I just content myself with sniffing under the sink where teh soap powder adn cleaning things are, if I am really desperate to clean. I keep hurting my back etc, adn also have been told excessively clean houses can cause asthma in children, something ot do with them not buildling up an immune system.

Got my glucose and blood results back, and I need to go in again for the glucose test next week as it was high (boo ), and my iron is low so am anemic and need tablets. I am also a bit disappointed in this Fortnight as I have been eating really well too. Am getting really fed up with work, but other than that I feel quite well.

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I just cannot drop off, and when I do I am up all night, uncomfortable, toilet visits, kicking baby. Oh, am getting impatient for the baby to come now... I have not idea how my stomach is goign to stretch another 2.5 months worth!!
