Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

Why oh why is my morning sickness back??

I will have 8 weeks left as of tomorrow, and my morning sickness only stopped at 6 months!

I've four more days left at work, including today and each one is getting harder.

I've had a really pooey pregnancy been sick all through, and now i can't sleep either.

The joys!! All i can say is that this had better be worth it!!

BeachedWhale · 29/10/2004 12:24

Vimptohead - I was about to post about the return of morning sickness too. Have been feeling rubbish for the past few days and a friend said morning sickness can come back in late pregnancy. Hadn't heard of this before so was wondering whether it is a bug or morning sickness but it feels very like the symptoms I had at the start. It is so unfair isn't it when you have already suffered for 6 months.

When is the blooming stage? It seems to have passed me by or perhaps it was that one good day I had a few weeks ago!

Hope you feel better soon.

redshoes · 29/10/2004 17:37

Me too! I've been putting it down to tiredness from not sleeping...also feeling v. low which again is probably tiredness...looking forward to the high after giving birth!

redshoes · 29/10/2004 17:38

ps beached whale I think there was a fortnight at the beginning of the summer hols when I'd just stopped throwing up and felt almost human again...

Jimjams · 31/10/2004 20:29

Feeling VERY uncomfortable- I'm fairly certain the baby is lying transverse- ds2 did that for ages and it was very uncomforatble with him as well.

DH has been away for a couple of days (back tonight). Luckily my parents took ds2 off my hands yesterday after ds1's ABA tutor had to cancel (no trains). That meant I was able to take ds1 out so we went up to Dartmoor for a walk. DS1 in all day is hideous and exhausting as he kicks off all the time but we ended up having a very relaxing pleasant day together.

Seem to be having real problems getting both boys into the car these days- DS1 is back into running off and then ds2 follows him- I have no idea how I will manage with 3. Unless we're in with the door bolted ds1 can let himself out of the house- but can't take others in first as he can also let himself out of the car. It's like trying to work out how to cross the river with a bag of grain, a chicken and a fox. Haven't come up with a solution yet (other than moving house which isn't very practical).

rosies · 01/11/2004 08:56

ladies,

have any of you considered reflexology for these last weeks? good for relaxing, SPD, boosting immune system, helping circulation, easing nausea, headaches, bachaches, and on and on...

helps induce labour laturally when the time is right... babies seem to be calmer to mums who have had some reflexology... worth thinking about

rosies · 01/11/2004 08:56

oh gawd... great spelling mistakes today ... you get the idea though!

vimptohead · 01/11/2004 11:37

Hi again all,

feeling really pooey - again!! fed up now and can't sleep!

Absolutely can not wait for work to finish so i can just slob/laze around. (although this is not true as haven't decorated yet, but that's my other half's job, and he's got 2 weeks off to do it in.)

i have an interesting question, don't know if anybody will have any ideas.

does mine and my partners birth weight affect babies, and does how late were were either? i ask because 1 was 7lb12, and partner was 8lb 3, and i was 14 days late and he was 10 days. is this likely to mean that baby will be around the 8lb mark and rather late, or does it make no difference whatsoever.

Hope all are well and blooming, better than me at least cuz i feel c**p!!

Take Care!

Portly · 01/11/2004 12:30

hello Vimptohead - I hope not as my husband was over 10 lb when he was born (he is now a stick insect) which sounds a horrendous size to squeeze out to me!! Hope you feel better soon

BambiBE · 01/11/2004 14:07

Vimptohead - I think that being late or early depends on your menstrual cycle, due dates are calculated based on a 28 day cycle, both my sister and I were early babies and my mums cycle is less than 28 days, DH and all 4 of his siblings were late babies my MIL cycle is longer than 28 days (hope that makes sense, it is just a theory!). Hope you feel better soon.

redshoes · 01/11/2004 15:53

VH
I have long menstrual cycles but my first 2 children were on time. However, my first child was 7lb 4oz (to my first husband) whilst my next 2 dds were 9lb 9oz and 9lb 11oz! This was to my 2nd husband who was nearly 11lb himself, and 4 weeks late! (acc to mil). Also dd2 was 15 days late. So, there might be something in it...

lilymum · 02/11/2004 10:48

Hi all, just sticking myself on the updated due date list. Vimptohead, yeah I've been feeling sick again, think it must be related to how shattered I feel. Bump seems to be growing at sensible pace, but totally fed up by old dears at the supermarket checkout clucking sympathetically and asking how long I have to go. Am aiming for around the 18th to have this bub. Not sure how I'll manage it, but I'm a great believer in mind over matter...

Hi again all,

Feeling better today, hope everyone is well!

When is everybody else off for mat leave?

Mine this friday! I wanted to leave it a bi longer really, but glad i didn't as im knackered now only doing 3 days, and would've probably made me more ill, specially as i have quite a bit of travelling to and from.

My midwife didn't want me to work after 34 weeks anyway - unnecessary stress apparently!

Hope everyone is well, and bumps are growing and kicking steadily - mine certainly is!

Take Care!

VH xx

hana · 02/11/2004 13:35

sorry that so many of you are back to feeling sick again, Lilysmum, I remember how ill you were, hope it't not like that again.
My NCT refresher starts this week, and I've started buying really preactical things like mat pads and breast pads....! Haven't taken anything out of loft yet for baby.
A friend is having her 20 week scan today and we have the same girl's name picked out - I hope she's having a BOY!!!!!

OP posts:
PotPourri · 02/11/2004 16:55

Hi all. It's a bit quiet on here. I guess we are all feeling shattered and impatient now. Ooooh, it's exciting looking at the list - I wonder if we will have any christmas babies!

I'm doing fine. I've decided once and for all not to go back to the hospital Antenatal classes, so that is one less thing that I am thinking about. Only just over a week left at work - and like you Vimptohead, I am soooo glad to be finishing. I am just really tired and can't get the energy or brain power to do work properly. And as a bit of a perfectionist, I am struggling with the idea of not doing a good job for an easier life....

So, has anyone had any 'signs' yet? I've had a couple of braxton hicks, but nothing to write home about. And more discharge - don't think it constitutes a show though. Also, much more frequent bowel movements.... Do you think that is due to lack of space, or is something happening? (sorry to be graphic) Probably just wishful thinking on my part and here I'll be weeks after my due date.

Janos · 02/11/2004 23:16

Hey again to all. I can relate to anyone who is feeling grotty as I have a horrendous rash, am not sleeping very well and really wishing that everything was over and done with (but I better not wish for that too hard!)

I am currently in my 2nd week of maternity leave but thanks to feeling grotty am not enjoying it too much atm, although I'm glad I don't have to go into work.

PotPourri, I've also been having Braxton Hicks - I actually had them in the middle of a driving lesson today, my instructor had to drive me home!! Poor bloke, probably thought I was going to have the baby right there and then . Quite painful at the time but quite funny looking back...

Just lookign at the list again, maybe it is a good sign as we are both due on the same day. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

vimptohead · 03/11/2004 13:10

Hey all,

Sitting at work counting down the minutes (literally) can't wait to get decorating now!

PotPourri - I'm having exactly the same! Im on the loo every 5 mins! sorry to be graphic!

Odd though as im still just over 7 weeks off! bet u guys at the beginning of Dec can't wait now!

Are houses and nurseries ready with everything they may need?

Take care!

hana · 03/11/2004 13:12

janos, how exciting to be on mat leave!! Enjoy every minute before you meet your baby.......

OP posts:
Janos · 03/11/2004 13:21

It is great being on maternity leave I must admit - not having to worry about work.

We still have plenty of stuff to do though, although most stuff has been bought. Less than 4 weeks to go - I really can't wait!! So excited at the thought of meeting my baby!!!!

Quick question - has anyone bought a breast pump yet?

hana · 03/11/2004 13:23

janos, I've bought the Avent breast pump. I used one with dd (sadly it has broken and needed a new one! from about 4 weeks or so. Didn't have any probs with it.

OP posts:
vimptohead · 03/11/2004 13:30

I've also bough Avent one, but haven't had chance to use it yet - try ebay to save some pennies, normally pretty genuine and mine was in great nick when i got it!

Bit scared at the prospect of using it, but we'll see!

georginars · 03/11/2004 13:54

PotPourri, Janos, snap on all of the symptoms and am due on same day as you. apparently the baby is 3/5 engaged and oh my god I can feel it - the pubic pain can be quite hideous. Also PP, some people I met at NCT turfed up to West Mid for their final antenatal class on Monday and it was cancelled - apparently there was a big rush on in the maternity unit. Lets hope there isn't a rush on around Dec 1st.
I bought an Avent breast pump but have no idea what to do with it - will leave all that lovely stuff to find out after the baby comes. it's a manual one and I bought it for the simple reason that it was really cheap at Tesco - great way to decide on important baby puchases, not!
I finish work on Mov 11th - next Thursday - HURRAH! weird though as will never be going back because of redundancy - quite freaked out in fact.

georginars · 03/11/2004 13:55

obviously that should be Nov and not Mov 11th...

Janos · 03/11/2004 15:43

potpourri and georginars!

My baby isn't engaged yet - just HUGE. And I'm only little - 5ft 2inches. Still at least I have childbearing hips !

BeachedWhale · 03/11/2004 17:29

Hi Everyone
Hope you are all feeling ok and not too uncomfortable today. Can't believe that some of you have only a few weeks to go. It is starting to get exciting now.
I have 8 weeks left! Am trying not to moan too much about how rubbish I feel at the moment. My first pregnancy ended at 33 weeks with pre-eclampsia/HELLP so as I will be 33 weeks next week I am terrified at the moment that it will all go pear shaped again. Every twinge sends me into a panic. So every extra week I can hang on this time will be a bonus. I must be the only woman who would be pleased to be overdue! Please send good vibes my way. I really really need to have a "born in December" baby.
On a positive note, I am sleeping better since I got hold of a hypnosis/birthing CD.Am trying for a VBAC this time so CD is supposed to help get rid of negative birth memories. Haven't managed to listen to it all the way thru as it sends me to sleep. Maybe it will filter into my sub-concious.
Enjoy your maternity leave those of you with a few weeks to go.
