Hey ladies,
Had my scan on Friday and it was amazing. Saw a lovely little wriggly baby , got quite emotional! My DH said it feels much more real to him now and he feels like a Dad Smile It is so strange to think I have a little person inside me wriggling around!
Feeling really happy that we went ahead with the private scan. Even though I still feel nervous about getting to the 12 week mark, I am reassured that I havent imagined the whole thing and everything so far looks good.
Hope you have all had a nice weekend in the sun

TriJo · 09/07/2017 21:17

I've caught my kid's stomach bug. Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy :(

SofiePendragon · 09/07/2017 21:46

Oh no Tri - that's bad enough without first trimester to deal with too. Are you managing any fluids at all (even icecubes or something).

I've got the end of holiday blues - back to work tomorrow after two weeks off. Really going to miss my DD - time off really highlights how much I miss when I'm working Sad

SofiePendragon · 09/07/2017 21:50

Hello Sherbet. Sorry about the nausea.

Congrats on the scan fandango. It's lovely that your dh is feeling like a dad already - I think my Dh found it all a bit abstract first time round until DD was actually born! (he was supportive, just found it hard to picture the reality of a baby)

TriJo · 10/07/2017 07:41

Sofie Kept nothing down yesterday. Was puking water all the way to bedtime :( I'm quite worried about dehydration, especially as I'm also still breastfeeding my 15 month old.

lookatthemoon · 10/07/2017 08:21

Welcome Sherbet! Great news about the scan Fandango. Must be a nice relief.

So sorry you are ill Trijo - can you get some hydralyte? When My MS was at it's worst I found that easy(ish) to keep down and stay hydrated.

My doc just called to say I had a UTI! This was from the cramping I had last Monday but it took this long to get test results back. Now I'm slightly panicking that I've had it for ages and it may have damaged baby. Anyone ever had one in a previous pregnancy?

RainyDayBear · 10/07/2017 09:51

TriJo They are hideous, hope it passes quickly!

lookatthemoon It's likely to be fine, I had one around 5 weeks pregnant this time round, and had one at about 30 weeks last time. If they are completely untreated for a long time it can cause issues later on (there is a risk of premature birth). Have they given you some antibiotics now? As you just had cramping and nothing else I wouldn't worry too much, they are super common in pregnancy!

Yay Fandango, congrats on the scan!

Oh TriJo I'm so sorry you're so unwell, look after yourself lovely

lookatthemoon · 10/07/2017 10:26

Thanks Rainydaybear - have relaxed a little now after reading how common they are. Seeing doc tomorrow so will get antibiotics then.

Scandalicity · 10/07/2017 13:09

TriJo sorry if I missed it but have you spoken to your GP or midwife to see if there's anything they can do / suggest?

GingerRogers84 · 10/07/2017 14:04

I havent had any cramps for about 3 weeks now. But this morning I've had period like cramps but no spotting or bleeding. Is this entirely normal?
Still feeling sick and hungry constantly and I feel fine in most ways.

lookatthemoon · 10/07/2017 14:17

Ginger - when I complain about cramps my DH likes to point out that my uterus has more than doubled in size since conception!

I only went to doc last week with my cramps as they didn't got away at all over48 hours and were accompanied by lower back pain.

I think some cramping is totally normal. Also remember if you are hitting the 9/10 week mark your placenta is beginning to take over so there is a lot happening in there!

GingerRogers84 · 10/07/2017 14:29

Thanks @lookatthemoon Every little twinge seems to set me off worrying. ☺️
They are similiar to the cramps I had before and theres no spottingetc. I'll try not to worry.
I have to remember that my body is no longer my own and that I have a growing little guest.

babayagga · 10/07/2017 17:05

Ginger - I had all kinds of cramping weeks 6-8. I think they were just growing pains.

Things have eased up now that the placenta has started doing its job. One of the effects is that, weirdly, I am feeling much less anxious, and am able to sleep. Only trouble is, I want to sleep all the time Bear Anyone else fighting incredible fatigue?

GingerRogers84 · 10/07/2017 19:54

@babayagga thanks for the advice. I'm 9 weeks 4 days roughly. I'm going to put it down to stretching! ☺️

user1499204247 · 10/07/2017 21:12

Hi all, popping in to say hello. Sending love to all those who have lost or having issues Flowers

I'm 8weeks + 4 days with my first. EDD 15th Feb. Feeling super nauseous and weak, off work again today, think this is the third time since I found out so I had to tell my MD at work at 7 weeks. He was understanding but since I told him, he has told two other managers without making me aware that they know - anyone know if this is normal/allowed? x

Loxy4527 · 10/07/2017 21:55

Hey, user, welcome! Same EDD as me :)

Did you ask your MD to not pass it on to anyone else? If so that's a bit out of order but all you can ask now is that it doesn't go any further.

I told my bosses today and they initially wanted to tell another staff member who manages production schedules but I requested that they wait three weeks until after my official scan and they agreed.

user1499204247 · 10/07/2017 22:11

Hi Loxy, thanks.
Glad it went ok with telling your work, and good that they consulted you about telling others.

Yeah I did ask him not to tell anyone, as felt 7 weeks was v early when no one other than family knows. Appreciate that managers should know but shouldn't I be told who knows? When I had my 'back to work' meeting with another manager, he initially acted as if he didn't know but when I told him, he was like yeah I already knew. Same happened today when I phoned in and spoke to a third manager, he was like I know the situation!

Just a bit miffed that my MD hasn't come to me and said 'I've told x,y and z for this reason' , does that make sense? It's a very gossipy office - mostly guys but I find they are worse than women, so I'm just worried it's going to be round the place like wildfire and it's still so early.

GingerRogers84 · 10/07/2017 23:54

It's such hard work keeping the news secret isn't it? I'm glad I don't know anyone in my village (new here) because the local midwife came to my house for my booking in appointment! I bet that would have been good village gossip had I known anyone! 😂

I've had another weird but very welcome symptom! My leg hair appears to have either stopped growing or has slowed right down! I'm not complaining! 👌🏻

lookatthemoon · 11/07/2017 03:42

Slower leg hair growth is my favorite pregnancy symptom! That and thicker hair on my head ☺️

Loxy4527 · 11/07/2017 10:07

I agree with you, user that's not on. Unfortunately in a lot of workplaces the management just don't know any better. Make sure you bring it up that you're concerned that you don't have control over who knows now.

EmilyK83 · 11/07/2017 11:10

user that doesn't seem right...surely it should be up to YOU who knows and who doesn't...

I'm struggling really badly with anxiety at the moment. Can't seem to shake the feeling that there's something wrong...hoping it's just my brain going into overdrive but it's driving me crazy!

One week today till my booking in appointment...can Midwives see if there's a heartbeat at 10 weeks, or would it have to be seen via a scan?

RainyDayBear · 11/07/2017 11:15

user I agree that's poor form. I've had similar, I told my head of department early on, and was shocked when I was having a chat with the head teacher and she brought it up. She was very nice about it, and I suppose it saved me an awkward email, but I was a bit miffed I must admit!

Emily Too soon I'm afraid, it would have to be a scan. They don't try to listen in with their doppler until about 16 weeks, and even then they warn you that it might be too early to pick it up.

Hi all,
I am pregnant with my second baby due 12th February. It is hard work running around after a toddler when you are exhausted and feeling nausea!!

LulusForest · 11/07/2017 12:22

user sorry to hear your boss has told other people without your permission, you should definitely say something if only so that he knows better in future.

I am booked in for a private scan tomorrow evening, when I'll be 7 weeks 6 days (I think). Does anyone know if it's likely to be an abdominal or vaginal scan at that stage?
