Same Ginger - if I move to fast I definitely feel it - I now roll out of bed like a bit of a blob to avoid surprising my uterus ...

Coffee - I wouldn't worry about keeping your pregnancy privilege in check ☺️I would want to be as visible as possible - esp if you are worried about congestion. I'm so impressed with you running a half!! For my race in Sept I was going to sign up for the 10k but chickened out in favour of the 5. A half is hardcore - great work Grin

babayagga · 16/08/2017 21:43

To weigh in re dopplers: I was told at my scan that my placenta is anterior, and a search of the forums revealed that women with anterior placentas often don't feel the foetus move until 23 or so weeks... No way could I wait that long! So finally took the plunge and rented a doppler. Have used it four times since last night Trying not to get obsessed, but definitely very reassuring, especially for nervous types such as myself. Overall, a thumbs-up vote for dopplers from me so far. StarStarStar

pretzelpieces · 16/08/2017 23:10

That's great news on the tests f1sher and the scan coffee!

I think the potential issue with home dopplers is also not to be too reassured by them - ie if something gives you cause for concern eg reduced movements later on, go in and get monitored, don't just be reassured if you can find a heartbeat. A heartbeat on its own is not all the information you need to know all is ok. Sorry for the doom and gloom.

erica how bloody rude of that white van man!

Alright here today. Put in our offer for the flat we like. We'll see.

Ava1985 · 17/08/2017 10:25

Morning ladies

Hope all are well! And hats off to those keeping up with the fitness regimes, running park runs etc, amazing Star

pretzel I agree with what you've said about Dopplers, great tools but not if other concerns are raised with regards to movements etc Love hearing the heartbeat on them at the mw checks though! Smile

I'm 14 weeks so officially entering second trimester today, woo! Hoping the nausea and sickness reduce soon, still feeling so ill! Noticed it's more morning/daytime and night sickness is easing-fx!

We've had a v busy summer hols and just dawned on me that all but one school mum don't know I'm pregnant yet as we haven't met up and when we go back to school in Sept I'm going to be 16 weeks so will raise a few eyebrows 😂 Has everyone else done a 'social media! announcement to share the news? I know this is a non issues, just curious! Grin X

TriJo · 17/08/2017 12:41

Ava We're going to do one this weekend. Probably going to put my son in the "I'm going to be a big brother" t-shirt that I got for him a few weeks ago.

Had my "16 week" appointment this morning (@14+3) - all is well, extremely low risk for T21/T18/T13, good strong heartbeat (158) and everything else looking good. No sign of low iron, surprisingly enough!

She's going to squeeze in another appointment for me just after the 20 week scan because she thinks the gaps between appointments on the schedule are way too long and because my husband's company are strict on when they receive the MATB1 for planning paternity leave (a friend of his was refused the full pay topup last year for bringing in the form when his wife was 25+3!).

babayagga · 17/08/2017 17:47

pretzel - you make a good point about dopplers.

I thought the laziness that was with me throughout the first trimester had finally subsided. Had an energetic start to the week, sorting out old papers, cleaning, etc. Then suddenly, today, I went to sleep for five hours in the middle of the day! Feeling very cross with myself as it's such a waste of a precious day before school resumes. Shock

pickledprogress · 17/08/2017 21:27

I had reduced movement last time and they checked for contractions and heart and actual movement - after a day of nothing she got hiccups!!

Midwife warned against Doppler as you can think it's the baby but actually you your listening to - again giving false security

Loxy4527 · 18/08/2017 08:27

On movement - I'm 14+4 today and I think over the last week I've started feeling little tickles from the baby. I was trying to describe it to DH - you know how when you roll over in bed you kind of kick the duvet up to give you more room? It feels like the baby is doing that only I'm the duvet haha. It was a very vague and unusual feeling when it first started happening but it's getting more distinct. Could be something else going on but it's nice to think that it's the baby. Poor DH keeps rushing to feel my belly but I keep telling him he won't feel anything, bless x

EricaSeas · 18/08/2017 10:27

You can totally keep running unless your midwife or doctor advises against Melody, I found it really beneficial once I’d got myself out of the door.

Thanks Coffee, the stupid white van man won’t put me off, but I might come up with some choice retorts in case it ever happens again.

I haven’t got a doppler, but know lots of people who have and I think they’re basically fine as long as you don’t imagine it can tell you everything or get too obsessed with it. I think I’d be the latter personally, so wouldn’t get one, but I’m particularly undisciplined like that. It’s so much easier when you have consistent movements to keep an eye on.

What happened with the house offer pretzel? Fingers crossed for you!

We haven’t done a social media announcement but only because we don’t really use it that much, I quite like seeing other people’s though. Your plan sounds cute TriJo, and glad to hear your appointment went well!

I’m still not really sleeping and it’s starting to drive me a bit insane. I haven’t told work I’m pregnant yet (although I’m sure a few people have guessed) but I think I might need to simply because I’m so damned tired. Colleagues keep looking at me and saying “DTs keeping you up?”… ugh.

Thattwatoverthere · 18/08/2017 13:55

I've booked in for a private scan tomorrow and I'm beyond excited and terrified again. OH couldn't make the 12 week scan so it'll be great to have him there.
Odd thing was that I had to book in for either a 6-15 week or 16 - 24 week scan and I'm 15+5 tomorrow. I called to ask which one I needed seeing as I'm practically 16 weeks now but the lady was really hard to understand, I'm not 100% sure what I'm getting but it cost £5 more than I expected Hmm

And every time someone else finds out I'm pg it seems to make my belly stick out that little bit more. I swear it's just showing off now 😂

Ash75454 · 18/08/2017 14:01

Hi Ladies.
Joining in the group. First baby due 9th Feb 2018 so I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow. Feeling pretty good and have done most the way so far. Def more tired over the last two weeks but overall seem to have got off lightly on the symptoms front. Fair play to all you lovely mummies planning runs. I wasn't doing that before the pregnancy let alone now. Also can't decide if the Doppler is a good idea. I hear it can be hard to pick up the heartbeat sometimes and that would freak me out.

EmilyK83 · 18/08/2017 17:51

Enjoy tomorrow thattwat, and hi Ash!

Don't know if you've all seen, but Aldi have a baby event on at the moment and there look to be some great deals...

lookatthemoon · 19/08/2017 04:22

I don't have a doppler but last pregnancy I used an app called my babybeat and I was able to hear the heartbeat. Was just for fun and didn't always work! Can only use it much later in pregnancy though (after week 32 or something).

Good look with the upcoming scans ladies! Smile

I'm 16 weeks today and have definitely 'popped' or something. I look very pregnant now.

Ava1985 · 19/08/2017 16:05

I love the Tshirt idea trijo how adorable your ds wearing that to announce!

look I'm a little behind you at 14+2 but have definitely 'popped' too! Def no hiding it with third babies 😂Shock The app sounds cool though, will look at that further down line !

Has everyone got a date for the 20 week scan? I've got mine for 29th sept, seems ages away but I know it isn't really. Also, think I too have felt a few flutters over the last couple of days, could be digestive system though so not totally convinced yet!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend x

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 19/08/2017 19:09

TriJo - I love that "craic's at the back" phrase. Hilarious! That's definitely the approach I'm taking. This week my tummy has really popped and I already feel quite uncomfortable and bloated, so I don't think I'm going to be magically super-fit in 3 weeks time! Thanks so much for the offer of sending the badge. I've actually already got one (although never dared wear it with DS), but thank so much for the kind offer to lend yours to me Smile.

Hi to all the newbies Waves. Good luck with upcoming appointments and scans. Ava - my 20 week scan isn't until 3rd October. Seems ages away! We have booked a private scan for 16 weeks to check on things (and to hopefully find out the gender, if all is well with Baby Coffee).

I will also be using a doppler, but know to focus more on kicks and movements. I used a doppler with DS as I didn't feel the first kick until 24 weeks (anterior placenta), so it was nice to have some indication things were ok. We'd been warned off by the midwives as you can think you're listening to the baby's heartbeat but it's actually something else. Also, as Pretzel pointed out, the absence of a heartbeat will be the final sign that something is wrong, at which point it will be too late, whereas if you pick up that the movements have slowed down/changed, it could be an early sign that something's happening and more can be done to help at that stage. I found the 'Kicks Count' website/FB page really helpful for giving clear advice about what you should be looking out for and what you should expect (although I did have to unfollow towards the end of my pregnancy as all the sad stories were making me really anxious!!).

TriJo · 19/08/2017 20:18

20 week scan on September 25th here - at exactly 20+0 amazingly enough!

Spent most of Parkrun feeling like I needed a wee today. Are we getting to that stage of pregnant running already? Shock

DS has a cold at the moment and woke up loads of times overnight. Probable early night for me tonight...

pretzelpieces · 19/08/2017 22:16

Thanks for asking erica, sadly someone got in before us on the flat. That's the 3rd time we've been disappointed and we're both feeling a bit gutted and hopeless about the whole thing. Sorry you're not sleeping well. I hear you on the tiredness! 😴

We did a little fb post with a big sister tshirt/scan photo. I feel awkward telling people in person so for me it was a way to get it mostly over and done with!

Welcome ash

pretzelpieces · 19/08/2017 22:20

Oh my 20 week scan is on 15th September (I'll be 19+2, I think?). That's actually only three weeks away!

pretzelpieces · 19/08/2017 22:21

Oh it's four weeks away, so I'll be 20+2. Whoops!

Ash75454 · 20/08/2017 10:45

Thanks for all the welcomes. Lovely to have some company.
My 20 week scan is 3rd October. Same day coffee. I'll be 21+3 then.
The wait between appointments at this early stage I find tough. Would be great if we could have a little daily reassurance at this point that all is going well.
Struggling with sleep last few days. I'm a tummy or back sleeper and as much as I try to fall asleep on my side I keep waking up on my back. Anyone using or used a pregnancy pillow they would recommend that I can start to keep an eye out for over the next few weeks. Sorry if you've covered this already and I missed it.

crazydaisy18cd · 20/08/2017 16:25

Hi all, just joined today. Expecting first baby, due 20th Feb. 13 weeks now and amazingly no morning sickness! Had first scan on a Monday by, and completely in love 😍

Afreckles1 · 21/08/2017 08:29

Hi ladies!
Joining the group a little later than the rest of You, lots to catch up on! I'm 15 weeks, baby due 8th feb :)
This is my first baby, so I'm overloading myself on information and what not to buy and what's useful.. so much to think about!! :)

X

RainyDayBear · 21/08/2017 09:14

We don't have a Doppler, I think I would use it to reassure myself, and monitoring movements and getting checked out is much better. Have read a couple of awful articles where women used a Doppler for reassurance when they should have been checked out and didn't have good outcomes. I think I went in to get checked out three times with reduced movements / bleeding in my last pregnancy and was always made to feel that it was no bother and they were glad I'd come in.

OP posts:
lookatthemoon · 21/08/2017 11:32

Same Rainy I went in a few times last pregnancy with reduced movements/possible fluid leaking and each time was so glad I did.

Ash - I'm a back sleeper too and use a pillow called the bellybean. It is in a figure 8 - 2 pod shaped pillows with a gap in the middle and you sleep on your side in the middle bit. It means I have a support under my tummy (more useful in later pregnancy) and one at my back so even if I do try to roll on to my back it prevents me - or at least I can't get the whole way on to my back!

Emwahs · 21/08/2017 20:18

I am 17 + 2 today and not heard anything about my scan. Chased it up today and apparently appointment will be out soon just got worried I had forgot as most people have their dates. Can't wait for mine but looks like my husband will be off shore again! He missed the 12 week scan as well.
So we are thinking of going for a private one end of September when his mum will be down as well. She lives 400 miles away from us and is so excited even though it's her third grandchild but first from us. Hopefully by then will be able to have a 3D scan Smile
