I have just got a (faint) BFP which, going by ovulation, would give me an EDD of March 2nd.

I recently had two early MC so I'm definitely not getting excited yet - but equally trying to stay positive and believe this one might just stick, hence starting this thread!

This would be my second DC, I have a DD who is 26 months.

Anyone else?!

Oh wow @Snowdog, how cool you're in Boston! DH and I had our honeymoon in the USA in April. We went to Vegas, San Francisco and Napa Valley. It was amazing!

Fefifoefum · 03/07/2017 23:04

I wish we got lots of blood tests! Although, I think I'd been a nervous nelly if they didn't quite go to plan!
To answer your question flat, we have dtd, the day we found out, got it over and done with I guess, also to quote DH "make sure it's really in there" 🙄
We told our mums today, his mum (on the phone) cried, however my mum was so bloody negative, we're so close, I think she was in shock, but I ended up walking out because there was lots of "what will you do about this/that, I'm not being free childcare". Just bloody awful, she did come after me and apologised and said she didn't mean to upset me etc, I think she was just being an insensitive moron!

Hope you slept sm and your nights are kind to you x

DancingUnicorn · 04/07/2017 07:21

Oh, I'm sorry fefi. You need huge congratulations definitely at first!!! Later on she can help with practical considerations. Very insensitive!

I'm terrified of telling our parents after last time. Don't want them to get their hopes up and then shattered like last time.

Flatwhite31 · 04/07/2017 07:42

Oh dear @fefi. Do you know why she reacted like that? Neither set of parents live near us, so that already ruled out the childcare argument! Glad she apologised, but I do hope she's more supportive from now on.

mamasiz · 04/07/2017 07:52

Morning all! Is anyone else feeling like they already can't fit into jeans? I've been wearing dresses since last week but it's just too cold here today to wear one - thankyou northern England..in July. I was googling around and found this neat hack - pop a hair bobble through the buttonhole of your jeans and around your button! Anyone else tried it? It'll do until I can buy something more suitable online tonight Smile

Flatwhite31 · 04/07/2017 08:08

Haha @mama, have never ever of the hair bobble trick! Great idea! All my jeans etc still fit, but I am a bit underweight and always have been. That'll change in the next few months I'm sure (fingers crossed). I have been quite bloated though.

mamasiz · 04/07/2017 08:22

No worries @Flatwhite31 ! Happy to share 😊 I've just bought a fancy maternity band online from jojomamanbebe (ooohurr) which does the same thing but is a bit more work friendly! I'm wearing a long top today so no-one will know.

ChaoticKate · 04/07/2017 08:26

@mamasiz I'm hoping to be fitting into my clothes for a long time yet! I have found I'm a bit more sensitive round my tummy, probably from bloating, so I'm less tolerant of anything that fits tightly. I'm hoping that the money I save from forgoing my morning Starbucks will pay for most of my maternity wear. Says more about my coffee habit than it does about the cost of clothing I'm afraid.

mamasiz · 04/07/2017 08:30

@ChaoticKate I think I was being overly optimistic about the size of these jeans when I bought them a few months ago - in truth I could have done with this hair bobble hack back when I bought them!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 04/07/2017 12:04

I love the bobble trick! It allowed me to wear my normal jeans until around 32weeks pg! I too am slightly underweight according to bmi flatwhite. I'm healthy so thats all what matters, I've only just lost all the the weight from dd lol i was 8st6lb before i got pg went up to 10st10lb 🙈 now im 8st2lb.
fefi aww thats upsetting Sad hope your okay!
I'm not telling my family for aslong as possible this time.. but i did start with morning sickness (well-hyperemesis gravidarum) from 4.5w to 7/8months last time so i doubt I'll be able to hide it long. I could only work 20days of my pregnancy 😮
Yay! My tests are getting darker, when i had my cp 2 cycles ago each day they got lighter. I'm feeling abit more hopeful. I have one more frer to use I'll wait until 13dpo and then ill buy a digi for weekend

Fefifoefum · 04/07/2017 13:02

I don't know why she reacted like that? She kept saying it was a shock, and didn't expect it so soon. I've been with my DH for 8yrs and married a few months. We both have decent jobs, we own our home, I don't really know what her issue is? I'm her only daughter, and honestly it's the reaction I'd expect if I was 16!

It's just a shame, we are so so close and she's my biggest support normally!
We were supposed to go for lunch today, but I can't bring myself to go, I feel really sad about the whole thing. It was a shock, it's not the perfect timing, it happened very quickly, but when is it everthe right time?!

Gracie20 · 04/07/2017 13:12

Hi everyone. I've not managed to post for ages because I can't login on my phone for some reason, but I have been following. Welcome to all the new people and congratulations. Hope everyone is feeling okay. @Fefi I'm sorry your Mum reacted like that. Must have been hard to get that reaction. @snowdog big congrats. I have a friend going through IVF at the moment so I know a little of the process. Great news about the beta reading going up.

I am 6 weeks 1 day today. Main symptom is tiredness. Boobs a bit sore and a bit nauseous but not as bad as with my daughter which worries me a little. Because of history of miscarriage, I have an early scan with the EPU next Monday. Hopefully if all is well there will be a heartbeat but there is nothing I can do but wait and be positive!!

DancingUnicorn · 04/07/2017 13:35

Fingers crossed for you Gracie. My EPU is walk in, and after last time I'm tempted to try to get an earlier scan. But I feel bad using their resources, which is probably silly as I know it would provide a significant amount of comfort. Anyway, we shall see.

I've lost a lot of weight over the past few months, so all my clothes are very loose. I'm hoping to fit into them for a while. So far, I don't have many symptoms, which is scaring me. I have the odd wave of nausea, and I'm tired, but boobs not really sore yet. :(

Hope you don't get HG again blue. Sounds horrific!

MrsLoz · 04/07/2017 13:36

Afternoon everyone, been lurking reading everyone's posts.

I had been feeling nauseous for a couple of days buts that's cleared up now and today I feel shattered! 5+1 for me and I've only done two tests, one IC late on Friday night where I got a squinter and then the first response yesterday where the 2nd line came up straight away and was darker than the control line. I've got a couple of cheaper tests, going to do one later this week before I go on hols and then will probably take one with me.

I'm still paranoid that it could end up being a chemical or something. We are trying to hold out as long as possible to tell anyone but I have a birthday, a hen night and 2 weddings in the space of 4 weeks so no idea how that is going to work out!

I'm dreading telling my inlaws, they have been really miserable recently and when we joked out having kids not so long ago they said they weren't bothered about being grandparents and would not be babysitting at all. Angry oherlnits here loss!

KittyKat73 · 04/07/2017 14:57

Hey everyone! I think im about 5 weeks and 2 days. handed in a urine sample to the drs so they can officially confirm that im pregnant. then I think they said a midwife would contact me to make an appointment to meet.

Because of my job ( a nurse) im going to have to tell the ward sister pretty soon but want to tell our parents first. im thinking on trying to hold out until 7 weeks to tell parents then ill tell my boss ... unless im in a situation in work where il need to spill the beans.

Mrsloz im the same about worrying about chemical pregnany or MC i keep forcing myself to try not get too excited incase somethings happens but at the same time im being positive and so grateful everything has been running smoothly.

Dancingunicorn Im the same I dont have many symptoms have waves of nausea and sore boobs but thats all. working long shifts im always tired anyway haha.

SS81C · 04/07/2017 15:38

Sorry not posted for a couple of days. Those night shifts killed me. My OH has just bought be a decaf vanilla latte in bed.
@kitty I think I'm going to tell work much earlier this time. Last time I waited ages to tell work and I was pushing beds and lifting heavy things right through my pregnancy because they didnt seem that fussed about doing risk assessments etc and probably putting myself at risk so I'm determined to be more selfish this time. (And i hear ya on the long shifts - think I'm just permanently tired - preggo or not!! Haha)
Oh @fefi that's awful hun. I'm sure she will come round and be super excited.
I think I'm going to book myself a private scan for 8 weeks. I can't wait until 12...i really need to go to the GP.....by my LAP I'm almost 8 weeks (but fairly certain I'm not that far) but actually I don't know for certain so should probably book in....we moved recently so I need to change GP and that's a hassle!

Flatwhite31 · 04/07/2017 16:30

Hi ladies! I've finally had my GP appointment. Unfortunately I have to ring tomorrow to do the midwife referral form with a receptionist, but at least I can do it on the phone as it's so difficult getting appointments after school. My GP was brilliant, so thorough. It looks like I'll be getting close monitoring, as I have a history of a heart arrhythmia problem which can flare up in pregnancy. I'm feeling very grateful for our NHS today!

xxHappyHippyxx · 04/07/2017 16:42

Aargh not looked for a couple of days and there's so much to catch up now!! Welcome to everybody new!

I'm super tired and been 'slightly moody' recently.. which unfortunately is a massive understatement haha swinging between excitement and dread... sometimes dread that something will go wrong and sometimes dread that it'll go right and I'll have to be responsible for a human!! Stupid brain.. Confused

Sorry your mum didn't react the way you expected fefi, I'm sure she'll come round once the shock wears off!

We're up North, in Yorkshire, which explains why booking scans and stuff seems to be so different to a lot of you! And as for DTD.. don't read on if you don't want tmi.. but we hadn't dtd since BFP because I had generally been uninterested lol then I had a moment of madness and we did it and after I was a bit nervous because I had a slight crampy feeling and then when I went for a wee in the middle of the night there was pink discharge and I thought oh no that's it, over, but it had stopped by the morning and I googled and read that cervix is more 'friable' so can bleed a bit and as long as it's not red blood there's usually no need to worry and it's all safe. I have been fine since but I've still been too scared to dtd again for now!! Blush

mamasiz · 04/07/2017 17:00

Hello all - just wondering - called my GP surgery to make an appointment after BFP and was told I didn't need to see them, I would just receive an appointment letter with a midwife through the post. Does this sound right?

SunnyCoco · 04/07/2017 17:16

Hi everyone
My EDD is 10 March :)
My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks so I am finding it hard to get my hopes up but fingers crossed this will go well!

Flatwhite31 · 04/07/2017 17:28

Hi @SunnyCoco, congrats! Sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage. Really hope this one is a sticky bean!
@mamasiz, it seems that it depends on your surgery re midwife referral. I have to phone tomorrow and get them to do a form. Some areas seem to do 100% self referral, while in others the GP will refer you. Confusing!

SunnyCoco · 04/07/2017 17:31

Thanks flatwhite
Where I live you just do a form yourself online - probably different everywhere!

mamasiz · 04/07/2017 18:08

Thanks @Flatwhite31 ! Fingers crossed for you @SunnyCoco - sticky beans all round.

DancingUnicorn · 04/07/2017 18:25

Hi sunny. Congratulations! I'm sorry about your previous loss, it really sucks. I had mmc found at 12 week scan, and it's really affecting me this time around. Trying to take it just one day at a time at the moment! Hoping that will get me through the next few weeks at least!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 04/07/2017 18:28

mamasiz yeah that's what mine do now, last time i had to go in and have a chat and fill some forms. Now i just call the community midwife office, tell them my last period date and they send out an appointment for booking in.

I'm not sure if I'll be classed as high risk as i had p.e last time at the end of my pregnancy so had to be induced.

sunny so sorry to hear about your mc xx

Anyone else going to have a private scan?
I'm going to book for 11weeks ish so i have peice of mind before i go away for 2 weeks in Aug x
