I have just got a (faint) BFP which, going by ovulation, would give me an EDD of March 2nd.

I recently had two early MC so I'm definitely not getting excited yet - but equally trying to stay positive and believe this one might just stick, hence starting this thread!

This would be my second DC, I have a DD who is 26 months.

Anyone else?!

I've just booked in for an early private scan on Thursday night when I'll be 6+1.

I realise we might not see a heartbeat but I'm just too bloody impatient to wait any longer...I need to know what's going on in there!

I'm a prime candidate for twins...I have almost all of the risk factors, twins in the family, been pregnant with twins previously, mid-30s, higher BMI, eat a lot of dairy Blush

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 17/07/2017 17:04

SheSaid I did my self-referral online last night and it said to contact them if you dont hear anything within 5 working days, so I definitely don't think the end of this week is too eager. I'd be doubting myself similarly though!

(I'm feeling a bit awkward about self referring SO early, which I did last time too - I think I was booked by about 6 weeks. But I'm going to be away from 7w until 9w and I'd rather get my booking appointment out of the way before I go if possible.)

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 17:08

Brilliant news about your scan @xxHappyHippyxx

It all depends when you ovulate @stumblymonkeyagain as I have a short LP but ovulate late in my cycle. Thankfully with this pregnancy, I know I only had sex once and I have really painful ovulation so I know to within a day of when conception was.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 17/07/2017 17:08

I'm pretty sure I want an early scan during week 9. I didn't entertain this thought at all during my last pg (wasn't financially an option then). But it feels like tempting fate to actually book it so soon, given I'm still sitting on 25% ish odds of it not working out. I am imagining it'll be fine to book about a week in advance if I'm fairly flexible about times - can anyone advise? I'm in London so would expect it to be easy enough even if I have to try a few clinics?

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 17:27

@NellWilsonsWhiteHair I think you will be fine to book during week eight. Why don't you have a look at the nearby clinics and get an idea of what the waiting time is to make sure?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 17/07/2017 17:30

Thanks fuzzy! I'll do that.

OrangeCloud18 · 17/07/2017 18:01

stumbly I thought I was 7+5 for my early scan but turns out I was only 6wks. We still saw baby's heartbeat :)
There are twins running in my family so I was quite relieved to see only one baby!

Excited1103 · 17/07/2017 18:14

@shesaidhesaid - I googled and filled out the online form. The email said I'd get a midwife and scan appointment within 2 weeks but I was impatient, so I emailed after 1 week to ask. It made no difference chasing up I don't think because a woman called me today trying to fill a cancellation slot, so she might have called anyway.

I want to look into this early private Downs DNA test, does anybody know anything about it or can I ask my midwife? Week 13 seems so late to hear if there's a chance of doing it earlier. I might look into a reassurance scan too. Time seems to have slowed to such a crawl the last 2 weeks.

Flatwhite31 · 17/07/2017 18:19

Hi ladies! Sorry I won't be able to respond to all of you, am just catching up on all of today's messages. @xxHappyHippyxx so pleased about your scan! I've booked one for next week when I'll be 8 weeks.

I'm exhausted today from being in Paris at the weekend, although it is so worth it as it was AMAZING. Am not vomiting, but my mouth has been watering ALL day. It's a bit like the feeling you get when you are so hungry, you feel sick. I'm constantly craving salt and carbs, and my usual sweet tooth isn't as strong as it was before!

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 18:31

Do you mean the Harmony (or similar) test @Excited1103? If so, a friend of mine did it (some hospitals offer it free now if you are high risk) and said it was such a huge relief that they would pay privately to have it done earlier. Generally you can have it done from ten weeks and it can just be a blood test or a scan and blood test (the scan is just so you can see the baby). It's very accurate and imho such a huge reassurance that it is worth the money.

Excited1103 · 17/07/2017 18:58

I'm not sure what it's called commercially @FuzzyOwl, the cfDNA one decribed here: www.nhs.uk/news/2015/04April/Pages/New-Downs-syndrome-test-more-accurate-than-current-screening.aspx.
It matters to me to know early, but even more than that is the accuracy and not having the miscarriage risk of later tests. I'll look up Harmony now and see, thanks! A scan would be brilliant too, I can't wait to see my little alien monster. I'll hold off on booking anything until I talk to my midwife on Thursday anyway.

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 19:08

Yes @Excited1103 that is the Harmony or Nifty test. Babybond do the test and I am sure you can google to see where else near you do it. Some NHS hospitals do offer it but I believe you have to have had the combined risk and be considered high risk first of all. However, it only gives you odds and not the certainty that a CVS would do. Due to my age, if I am still pregnant following my 12 week scan I think I will have it.

Excited1103 · 17/07/2017 19:37

Thanks, wow £399 is pretty steep. Worth it though I think for me.

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 19:41

It is expensive but for me worthwhile.

SheSaidHeSaid · 17/07/2017 19:57

Yeah, that's the price I saw. My DH wanted it done but as I'm not a high risk we have decided against it.

Flatwhite31 · 17/07/2017 20:40

@stumblymonkeyagain I have the same question! If I'm dating from LMP, assuming I ovulated on day 14, I'm 6 + 5, but I know for a fact I ovulated on CD 11 or 12 (most likely 12), so I have a feeling I may be slightly further along than 6+5. However, I've no idea how to date a pregnancy if you know when you ovulated, so I'll leave that to the midwife.

Feeling sooo sick this evening Confused. It's strange as I know I'm not going to vomit, but nothing is easing it today. Have bought a box of Ritz crackers for work tomorrow.

user1497033503 · 17/07/2017 20:48

That's great news about the scan, so glad everything was ok x

MrsW0812 · 17/07/2017 21:10

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and I've started panicking about mcs. Is anyone else worried??

SophSoph92 · 17/07/2017 21:30

100%. I think the majority of people are!
As an aside, has anyone's boobs stopped hurting/hurting so much? Is this something to be worried about?

MogScratch · 17/07/2017 21:41

Hello please can I join. Due middle of March I think but not entirely sure as I cannot tell when I ovulate. This is useful for working out due date if you know conception date and it is not the standard assumed for last period. Click on the conception date option.

FuzzyOwl · 17/07/2017 21:43

@Flatwhite31 you date by adding two weeks before ovulation but tbh the midwife will initially go off off your LMP and then from whatever your dating scan says, even when you know the dates are not quite right. I think they say they can be out by quite a bit (maybe a fortnight?) but will always go with the 12 week measurements (unless IVF) as it is the best info they have.

MrsW0812 · 17/07/2017 21:50

@SophSoph92 my books are mega sore and feel like two massive melons!!!!

SophSoph92 · 17/07/2017 22:02

Wondering if anyone's have stopped hurting haha

rebbles · 17/07/2017 22:16

@sophsoph mine aren't as bad now think it's hormones settling down.

Anyone got any tips to:

  1. Battle the bloat
  2. Battle the extreme tiredness (other than sleep of course, have a toddler who is making sure I can't do that!)?
rebbles · 17/07/2017 22:17

@zylab I am the same- only want plain carbs like rice, bread and potatoes. Can't be dealing with any smells or tastes!
