I have just got a (faint) BFP which, going by ovulation, would give me an EDD of March 2nd.

I recently had two early MC so I'm definitely not getting excited yet - but equally trying to stay positive and believe this one might just stick, hence starting this thread!

This would be my second DC, I have a DD who is 26 months.

Anyone else?!

I made my booking appointment today, I'll be 7+5 I'm really pleased as in the past the appointments have always been closer to 10 weeks. I think my EDD is 11th March

BlueeSpottyTiger · 06/07/2017 22:35

I can only call the midwife office between 2-4pm on a monday?? What a short timeframe for a week.. I'll do that next week!
My only symptom is extreme tiredness.. my boobs always feel weird as im still bf'ing so can't tell much by them.. they change daily.

I didn't have my booking in until around 10 weeks last time, then my scan was as the back end of 13weeks.

Smiley1981 · 06/07/2017 22:35

Thinking the next appointment will make it all feel a bit more real for me. Hoping its soon.

stumblymonkeyagain · 06/07/2017 23:08

I may have gone a bit crazy, BFP was yesterday and so far I've read 1.5 pregnancy books and made an Amazon wish list of baby requirements Blush

stumblymonkeyagain · 06/07/2017 23:11

Pressed post too soon!

I am a project manager though so tend to be this stupidly control freaky about most things. I basically planned pretty much five different weddings out before DP proposed.

I know some people would feel like it's jinxing things but I'm not superstitious and it makes me feel better to be in control of what I can (basically everything except whether the bean is sticky).

Sinead17 · 07/07/2017 05:58

Hi All, hoping I can join this group as saw the link on another thread. I'm 5+4. 3rd pregnancy but 1st was mc at 12wks and 2nd in March 2015 was a wonderful boy. Only started trying last month properly I.e opk monitoring so can't believe it. I have just more moved here to the Uk so no clue how N H S works but have gp appt in 2 weeks? I am aged 41 and had GD last pregnancy but was controlled without injections. Also last pregnancy I had no symptoms at all throughout the whole thing which can itself be worrying even though everyone told me I was lucky!! Same this time!! Also due March 8 th 😀

rebbles · 07/07/2017 06:14

@stumblymonkey I was the same (I made a spreadsheetBlush! I didnt actually end up needing or using half the stuff I researched and bought though so happy to check your list through once you're done to give advice on what to actually get!

rebbles · 07/07/2017 06:16

@Bluespottytiger I'm also still bf my first! How old is yours? I'm finding it difficult as it's quite sore and have developed an aversion!

SS81C · 07/07/2017 09:23

Yeay got a 3+ on clearblue dating test......gonma stop doing them now - haha! By my reckoning I'm 6 weeks today! Keep thinking it's an age until 12 weeks and all being well i can let the cat out of the bag but the last 2 weeks have flown! According to my app baba is the size of a blueberry! Cute!

SS81C · 07/07/2017 09:24

@rebbles I had SO much stuff last time that I just didn't need! Definitely won't be going at overboard this time.......

DancingUnicorn · 07/07/2017 09:36

It's strange isn't is ss8, my app says I'm 6 weeks, but I don't get to blueberry until next week!

SS81C · 07/07/2017 09:40

@dancingunicorn.....it does say a Maine blueberry.....maybe that's a kind of small blueberry! Haha!!

Veinarde · 07/07/2017 09:53

Morning ladies!

I hope it's ok to join. I am 5w pregnant with my first after a successful IVF. I have egg maturation issues due to hormone imbalance and PCO so couldn't conceive naturally after 2.5 years of trying.
I am very happy I got my BFP finally but cautious it is so early to celebrate Smile
GP agreed to arrange an early scan to check everything is ok!

I have no symptoms whatsoever except for extreme tiredness!

Ladies I want to ask your advise on what excuse to tell my colleagues on not drinking in my own leaving drinks! It's going to be next Friday lunchtime (We have summer hours so can leave after 1pm). I was thinking saying that I have a dentist appt later that day or anti like that? Smile

Have a lovely day xx

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/07/2017 11:08

@rebbles

Checking my list would be great...I will post here as the discussion might help any other first timers on the thread Smile

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/07/2017 11:16

For any other first timers I definitely recommend this book (pic below). She's a UK midwife so it gives you all the info on the UK process so might be useful for you @Sinead17?

I think in summary the process is:

  • When you get a BFP you contact GP (some want to confirm with urine sample, others just rely on home test results)
  • They refer you for your 'booking in' appointment with midwife where she takes down lots and lots of details about medical history, previous pregnancies, gives you info, takes bloods (sometimes GP does this themselves depending on area)
  • Then you get a letter to confirm 12 week scan (dating/abnormalities) and 24ish week scan (sex if you want to know/abnormalities)
  • You also get regular midwife appointments, about 10 in total for first baby. About 7 if not. But might get more if 'high risk'

@Veinarde

What time is your leaving do? Is it lunch or evening?

If it's earlier in the day I think I'd say I had to drive somewhere later that night and concoct some sort of back story around that.

GWeatherwax · 07/07/2017 13:02

Thank you stumblymonkey, that's really helpful Smile

DancingUnicorn · 07/07/2017 13:14

I have to say... I bought the book last time. I'd heard really good things about it. But I felt it didn't really give me any more information than the NHS website, and felt it was very tow the company line in regards food etc. I was a bit disappointed. Obviously just my opinion, like I say, I've heard really good things. I'm still looking for books though, if anyone had any alternatives!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 07/07/2017 15:07

rebbles she has just turned 17months.
Luckly i don't yet have sore boobs😅.. how old is your LO? Xx

GWeatherwax · 07/07/2017 15:09

A book is as far as I'm willing to go/look at for fear of jinxing anything. I went for the good ol' What to Expect When You're Expecting and it's chock full of info, so far I'm really happy with it. I'm clueless and a first timer!

PandaCat · 07/07/2017 15:17

Hi all! Hoping I can join, saw the link to here on another thread. Smile

Had my BFP Wednesday! Due around the 11th with my second! It doesn't feel real.

lokelani · 07/07/2017 15:23

I've just been on a work event. Walking for hours - there was a pregnant (6 months) lady in the group and so luckily they kept taking little breaks for her. But lunch was a nightmare, it was fine dining with 3 options each with with a banned item! E.g. chorizo, runny egg and bacon and mayonnaise. Then we got tea and I had to ask for decaf. I'm sure I got some looks. How do I keep this secret for another 6+ weeks. Eek.

SheSaidHeSaid · 07/07/2017 15:42

I read that the latest advice is that tunny eggs are fine provided they've got the lion stamp on them (in the uk). I'm sure catering events will use lion eggs otherwise they'd breach food safety standards.

Having said that, I've not actually had any runny eggs myself yet.

SheSaidHeSaid · 07/07/2017 15:42

Runny* eggs. Bloody phone.

lokelani · 07/07/2017 16:05

Oh really? Not sure I could stomach them anyway!

Has anyone got a good app for checking foods? I know my sister had a list she referred to when she was pregnant. But I can't ask her what it was. It listed everything out and looked really helpful.
