Thats a lovely photo!
By the way it's coming up to my 20 week scan soon and the previous ones I've really struggled with keeping a large amount of wee in beforehand has anyone not actually drank before the scan and not had any issues or will they just tell me to drink more and come back?

tmc14 · 21/06/2017 17:30

Thanks! Last time I wasn't busting for a wee, felt quite comfortable & drank a glass of water about 20 minute before. Was absolutely fine. This time I was absolutely desperate to go and was fine too. I don't know, but it seems so long as you don't wee just before you go in you'll be ok. (Completely non expert answer)

Hazandduck · 21/06/2017 17:34

I think for your 20 week scan you don't need a full bladder. I will have to dig out my letter to check! Last time they sent me out to wee because my bladder was too full, it was painful. I would've been fine but they were running about 40 mins behind so I was busting by the time they called me in lol.

Hazandduck · 21/06/2017 17:40

Also zampa I've put on half a stone, which I'm surprised about because a few people have said how big my bump looks! I have the last few days felt more energised so I'm going to take the opportunity once this heatwave passes to start exercising again. About time really, at 19+2!

tootsieglitterballs · 21/06/2017 18:04

My 20 week appt letter says I need to drink 5-6 glasses of water beforehand , I'm sure I don't remember drinking that much last time. I'll be busting for a wee if it really is that much, I need the loo after 1 glass!

butterybollocks · 21/06/2017 18:07

Lovely pic tmc. There seems to be quite a few of us having boys!
Great news about your scan lydia.

My colleague bought me a book today: The Very Hungry Pregnant Lady. She knows me very well! Grin

Topsyloulou · 21/06/2017 18:22

Bubba you don't need a full bladder for the 20 week scan. Baby is big enough for them to see easily. I'd say the emptier the better from my experience as they press quite hard to get the images & measurements they need. I came out with a bruise on my stomach with DS as he wouldn't lie still when they wanted to check his heart.

I've got to have the GTT. The only reason being that DS was 9lb9. He was very long rather than chunky but they go on weight rather than the combined measurement. Don't mind the idea of the test, it's the having to sit in the hospital waiting room for 2 hours in between blood tests I'm not looking forward to it. It's boiling in there at the best of times & my appointment is late August.

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/06/2017 18:35

That's good to know - my letter says to drink a pint of water but I won't be able to hold that in!

stuckinny · 21/06/2017 19:30

Lovely pic @tmc14 and great news @lydiangel83

My letter also said that I should have a full bladder but before we entered the room the tech asked if I needed the bathroom. She did the scan on a completely empty bladder and didn't have any problems. Given how much pushing she was doing there was no way I could have got through it if it was full.

I'd put on 4 lbs at my 16 week appointment (4 weeks ago). I've ballooned since then and I'm dreading getting on the scales at my next appointment on Saturday.

Had a panicky moment Monday night. Had visions of not getting the delivery I want - they are very keen on you staying in bed and laying on your back here. Will talk to the doc on Saturday but thankfully DP said that he would support me whatever I wanted, even if it meant that I was hanging upside down! but he would not deliver the baby! I think he's worried I'll insist on spending too much time at home and he'll have to play midwife. Lol. (I won't admit to him that the thought had crossed my mind Confused)

lydiangel83 · 21/06/2017 21:20

Thanks all :-)

Whilst lying with my belly out in top of bed because too hot to do anything else, I noticed my belly kind of gently pulsating / moving of its own accord. I can't feel anything per se at the same time but wondering if it's baby moving?! Or maybe just blood flow etc?

Zampa · 21/06/2017 21:28

Thanks all for sharing your weight gain. It's a very rude question for me to have asked. I'm not that impolite IRL! I think the answers just show how different pregnancy is for each individual.

Lydia My tummy pulses too but mine's definitely in time to my heartbeat. Your description sounds more like baby squiggles. Eek! Exciting!

Motherhippy16 · 22/06/2017 06:45

Good morning all. Congrats to those who have found out what they are having. Socialising is hard! But went for a chilled out bbq at a friend's and they found me a non alcoholic beer which was gorgeous! Was very happy sitting under the stars and felt normal for once! Am struggling in the heat but it's supposed to cool down in our area In the next couple of days. Have now got my maternity cover in place but still doesnt feel real... and just feel fat not pregnant! Is anyone else still feeling this? I don't have a bump as such... 17 weeks today.... love to all x

Motherhippy16 · 22/06/2017 06:53

Sorry... phone only uploaded the last page of conversation when I posted this and have seen comments regarding not feeling baby move etc! Have no idea how much I've put on as wasn't weighed at 16 week..... also they said I needed diabetes test at 12 week and then the midwife at 16 week said 'what was she thinking? Don't need that test!' And crossed it out! Basically I see whichever midwife is in that day of my app and went in with questions and didn't have time to get them answered..... x

Bubbasmama2017 · 22/06/2017 08:25

hi @motherhippy16 I haven't told work what my plans are for maternity leave yet! I'm going to leave as late as possible and haven't quite worked out if we can afford for me to have a year off which I would love. I think we have to tell them latest by the 15th week prior to due date? so still have a few weeks to decide...

tootsieglitterballs · 22/06/2017 09:04

That's amazing you have your mat cover sorted already! Up until about 3 weeks before my mat leave started last time, i still didn't have cover sorted, it was all very stressful!
This time around, I'm a SAHM, so luckily don't have that stress to deal with.

Felt lots of movements last night and this morning - hubby even 'just' felt baby this morning - woke up and could tell straight away looking at my tummy where baby was, so his hand went straight there, and it moved! It was lovely!

18 weeks tomorrow - it's going so quickly!

Motherhippy16 · 22/06/2017 09:30

I had to sort it early due to nature of work so I'm going to have 5 weeks before due date. Tootsie that's so amazing! Lovely to hear.... @bubbas yes it's 15 weeks prior so a bit longer! X

tootsieglitterballs · 22/06/2017 10:46

@Motherhippy16 it must be a huge weight off your mind! We just couldn't find a suitable applicant for my role, and in the end we promoted from within and hired someone for a position that was easier to fill. At least I didn't have to completely train from scratch in such a short period of time!

Anyone else getting lots of pins and needles in their feet and legs?! I've suffered for weeks on and off, but this morning I just can't shift them!

Motherhippy16 · 22/06/2017 12:26

@tootsie it is however I still can't believe I'm pregnant and so it feels very strange to be organising maternity and going to appointments etc. Feels as though I'm going through the motions and that it's not going to come true! X

Bubbasmama2017 · 22/06/2017 12:41

I feel the same @motherhippy16 keep having to remind myself I've had scans that show I'm having a baby not gone mad!

lydiangel83 · 22/06/2017 13:11

@Motherhippy16 I feel the same I suspect it's normal especially for first time mamas x

Teachervoice · 22/06/2017 15:32

Afternoon ladies! Home from 20 week scan and no avoiding the fact that it's a boy! (See photo for proof) Smile

stuckinny · 22/06/2017 16:00

If it wasn't for the fact that I could feel the tech pushing against me I wouldn't believe I was pregnant at all. I feel exactly the same as I did before. I just look like I've eaten way too much!

Lovely pic @Teachervoice. He's not shy is he!

butterybollocks · 22/06/2017 16:31

Oooo fab picture @teachervoice!

I'm quite jealous of all those of you who feel relatively normal, I feel enormous and exhausted and very much pregnant. I seem to be completely missing the semi-relief of the second trimester.

Had my risk assessment at work today. They have noted that 'buttery should not have to go to London unless absolutely unavoidable' and told me to send anyone who pressures me to come into the office unnecessarily their way for a telling off Grin the nature of where I work means no one should HAVE to go into the office in London at any point, but people do forget that so I'm very relieved!

Alexandra07 · 22/06/2017 17:10

Lovely pictures ladies! I haven't received a 20 w scan letter, did you all receive one? I booked at the health centre after my 12 w scan.

Zampa · 22/06/2017 19:53

I didn't get/won't get a letter re 20 week scan.
