I'm 18+4 and have put on a stone exactly. I was lighter than normal at the start as I'd dieted for my wedding, and then was so exhausted in first trimester I couldn't exercise. I'm now back being active, but midwife is ok with my gain so far, so I'm ok with it too 😁

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/06/2017 06:30

People keep telling me to eat what I like and that it's ok to gain 4 stone but I really don't want to do that! The whole eating for 2 myth has not gone away apparently!

Zampa · 21/06/2017 06:54

Thanks for sharing! I don't think that anyone should worry about how much or how little weight they put on. My colleague was really worried about how small she was but gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week.

Lydia I think there's 2.2 lbs to a kilo so 5kg is 11lb.

Bubba I think I'm about to cave in and get new bras. Really struggled to get mine around my rib cage yesterday!

izzibee29 · 21/06/2017 07:07

@Zampa at 18+1 I've in fact lost 2 lbs. am snacking and eating 2 breakfasts, started my pregnancy on the more curvy end of the scale so it's good that I haven't put on anything tbh.

Hi ladies. On day five of holiday in the U.K. Had heatstroke for two days but seem to be okay now - I don't sweat properly which means I cannot regulate my body temperature. Just great at 18 weeks pregnant!

Someone asked if I was expecting twins last night! Okay I was sitting down so looked bigger and rounder than normal but seriously?

Feeling a bit down as no movements being felt. At the private scan they thought I might have an anterior placenta so looking forward to knowing for sure at my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks.

Got a friends wedding and my dress is a big skirted swing dress. Wishing I had bought a fitted maternity I one now as I know I will feel fat and frumpy as dress flares out so bump not obvious. Been feeling a bit fragile emotionally this week I think part hormones and part worry that I cannot feel anything and don't really feel pregnant at all right now.

Oh well, gotta suck it up as it's my friends day and I'm here for her. Wish me luck!

@GingerHanna sorry to hear that you are suffering at the moment. I'm 18+6 and have only felt bubble popping movements on occasion. No proper movements yet, which I'm upset about. I was told at my private scan that I have an anterior placenta and it may be later for me, which doesn't help as I am the most impatient person in the world!

butterybollocks · 21/06/2017 07:44

Ginger Hanna, how did heat stroke make you feel? I'm wondering if I've had a bit of it, feeling a bit better today but felt awful last night - had a bit of a temperature, chest was tight and I felt dizzy and had a headache.

We're in for the hottest day yet here today.... Take care everyone.

I think I had put on 3-4kg between appts at 9 and 17 weeks. My midwife referred to me as nice and slim!? I pointed out that my bmi says I'm obese and she said she's completely ignoring that - I loved her a lot at that point!

lydiangel83 · 21/06/2017 07:51

Oh no @GingerHanna sorry to hear that! Hope you're feeling better. Do your hair and make up nicely and get your nails done to make yourself feel better but I'm sure you will look fabulous!

I feel like I've put on a lot of weight compared to others?! 11lb at 21wks.

Bump grown loads in last few wks and have felt it on my arms and bum too. I try to eat healthily but with treats in front of me I will always take them and enjoy them! I know all the medical advice says don't put on too much weight and I don't want to be left with loads to lose post-labour. Must hide eat all the snacks in the house and not buy any more! It's hard at work though when there are loads around always!

tootsieglitterballs · 21/06/2017 08:44

I honestly wouldn't pay that much attention to your weight at this point in pregnancy.... last time I weighed less at 5 months pregnant than I did before I was pregnant, I was so slim, bump all at the front etc. Cue about 36 weeks and I had to buy new mat jeans in a bigger size, out of nowhere I piled on the weight and was huge by the end.

What I'm trying to say is, regardless of where you are right now, it is no indication how you will end pregnancy.

You do what you need to do to get through pregnancy - If that's eating carbs then so be it!

Zampa · 21/06/2017 08:50

Ginger I'm 17+6 and I don't think I've felt anything yet, maybe something but not sure if I'm imagining it! I was 20+ weeks before I felt SAD so don't worry at all about movements.

MsBranwen · 21/06/2017 09:33

I'm 21 weeks and only just starting to feel movements that feel like they are definitely baby... He seems particularly responsive to ice cream!

Have put on about 9lb, mostly because I've just been so hungry. I'm trying to eat a bit healthier now though, for ages I couldn't stand vegetables and was living on crisps and biscuits but now I feel a bit more human again I'm trying to be a bit more thoughtful about what I eat... Though am currently mostly living on ice cream and ice lollies!

Hope you all manage to stay cool today.

DuRezidal · 21/06/2017 12:06

I can't quite believe I am 20 weeks... still no real bump to see but definitely movements.

izzibee29 · 21/06/2017 13:01

@butterybollocks I love the sound of your midwife. Mine first measured my height at 11 cm shorter than I actually am which put me into the danger zone bmi wise. When we remeasured at the hospital and I gained my 11cm back to my normal 5ft 5 I corrected this with my mw and I was recategorised into the obese category but low risk so yay no glucose test.

lydiangel83 · 21/06/2017 13:03

Hi all

Just to report back that all is well following private anomaly scan. Consultant talked through every single bit of body - was amazing. Worth every penny and never been so happy to be called completely normal in my life!

Turns out original 20 wk scan NHS measurements were probably inaccurate.

Topsyloulou · 21/06/2017 13:06

That's good news Lydia. I bet you're so relieved. Hopefully you can relax a bit now & enjoy the fact you are over half way to meeting your baby!

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/06/2017 13:23

my midwife wasn't concerned about my weight either, I was slightly overweight before I got pregnant but had lost a few pounds then gained that suddenly back in the first month, now almost halfway I've vowed not to gain any more and I'm going swimming and eating well again.
I was worried about gestational diabetes but heard its not caused by being overweight? anyone know? never had sugar in my wee or anything.

lydiangel83 · 21/06/2017 13:57

Thanks @Topsyloulou I am very glad! Very relieved and grateful.

@Bubbasmama2017 is that a possibility to not put on more weight for remainder of pregnancy? I assumed we'd all put on more as baby grew!

MsBranwen · 21/06/2017 14:15

@lydiangel so glad to hear that, you must be so relieved, tremendous to be normal!

When I was ttc I never thought about how many things there would be to worry about when I actually got pregnant... I wonder if I will ever stop worrying? Maybe this is all just good preparation for being a mum and the inevitable worries I will have forever once my LO is born!

tmc14 · 21/06/2017 15:07

Lydia - so pleased the scan went well today. Must be such a relief.

We had ours today, at 18+5, picture attached. All measured ok (head is a week bigger, hope that corrects itself!) and he's a little boy! He kept wriggling about & putting his hands in front of his face, did not like being prodded & looked at! We were lucky in that the sonographer didn't rush, talked us through each measurement & was so lovely.

I think it's job to worry now, I was so nervous this morning. My mum says she still worries & her youngest is 33.

Teachervoice · 21/06/2017 16:11

@Bubbasmama2017 don't know much about gestational diabetes but do know that despite not being overweight and having only put on 1lb so far at 20 weeks, I have to have a GTT because I have PCOS.

tmc14 · 21/06/2017 16:17

Bubbas/teachers - I'm having the GTT because my father developed diabetes in his early 70s, because he is old and his pancreas just gave up a bit... but they still recommended it, 'just in case'.

Teachervoice · 21/06/2017 16:23

@tmc14 not going to complain about anything that ensures the safety of the baby but it does make you wonder how they make these decisions! 🙂

tmc14 · 21/06/2017 16:28

Teacher - it does seem odd! I just signed up to all the tests they offered (so far) but it seems a stretch. As you say, happy to be checked out, but it's a lot of time resource for seemingly random reasons.
