Mama 48.

ScotsLamb · 27/05/2017 20:50

Oh dear Zaber that does not sound fun.

Who ever mentioned super noodles the other day I thank you. Just managed to clear my plate for the first time in about 6 weeks.

I had a huge to do list today and managed to get up. Watch tv. Have a bath. Have a nap. Make super noodles for dinner. Now watching The Accountant before bed.
Tomorrow will be busy!

mamalovesviolet · 27/05/2017 20:58

Zaber I wish I had 48! I stopped at 4.

My husband is on a stag do so I'm home alone with my daughter. I've never actually been left alone (and have to stay in) - previous trips away by my husband I was staying with my parents. So this is new to me. I'm a bit bored. I was praying for her bedtime all day as I was so tired so I've gone to bed! Saturday night rock n roll.

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 27/05/2017 21:06

Yay pause - congrats on the boy!!! 💙

Just got back from a 100th birthday celebration. There was a newborn baby girl there too. Seeing the birthday girl hold the newborn was incredible - a century and generations apart celebrating together ❤️

Angielka · 27/05/2017 21:27

Oh that's lovely biker! How sweet.

Congrats on the boy pause! Makes it all suddenly a bit more real when you know the sex. We've been told we're getting another girl to add to our two but that's not through anything more than the scan at 12 weeks... could change, although DH and I have now totally started just thinking about girls' names. Even went on the baby names mumsnet board last night Blush

MontyPants · 27/05/2017 21:41

I've had a nap and I'm now awake contemplating having some dinner (the plain pasta and cheese!).
Oh Zaber that is not good. If you're staying over, could you come up with some sort of pregnancy related excuse to go home early? Sickness/dizziness etc?

Carley27 · 27/05/2017 21:48

Zaber I salute you for managing to not kill the in laws Grin

Aww Biker that's so lovely!

MotherofUnicorns · 27/05/2017 22:02

Hi everyone,
i am loving all the scans and harmony results.... part of me wouldn't mind being higher risk if it means i can have a harmony on the NHS ...
I have just been sorting through my old maternity clothes and found some great things i had totally forgotten about! My other DC are Sept and July babies though so my really far along preggo stuff is all summer. I am hoping i won't have got too massive by the summer hols so i can avoid spending too much on work clothes until the autumn.
Quite exciting though. Just need to find my dream genie pillow now!

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 27/05/2017 23:56

So been super regular for the whole of the first trimester and suddenly, for the last 2 days, the complete opposite!! Suffering so much 😞

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 04:38

As this is my first I had no maternity clothes so I gave in and bought a few things the other day.
My tummy isn't big enough to hold the jeans with the big over bump waist bands on comfortably yet but I love wearing the under bump ones in the house for comfort. I also bought some shirt dress type things with room for a bump but they aren't specific maternity wear.
I've been living in looser fitting trousers or shorts as my tummy is uber sensitive to anything tight, and I usually wear fairly high waisted jeans.

Mother I also need to buy a pillow. I read online I shouldn't sleep on my back? I always fall asleep on my side but most often wake up on my back and have no idea how long I've been like that so it's stressing me out a bit? Any advice from anyone who has done this before?

I managed to sleep a little longer last night, from about 10:30 to 4:15, not bad for me. Wide awake again now but will try and go back to sleep again in a bit.

I have work/study to do today but no plans for going out or specific timings etc so I'm feeling a little more relaxed about being able to go back to sleep or nap if I need to.

Sorry to hear you're suffering biker. I think it's quite a common symptom. I hope it all goes back to normal for you very soon.

Hope your evening got better and easier Zaber. How did the news go down about the new addition?
Cham I hope everything went well for you too.

Who's our next scan update coming from? Mine is Thursday but there must be a few before then?

mamalovesviolet · 28/05/2017 06:54

I think the sleeping on the back is about restricting a blood vessel? It's ok in the first trimester as there isn't much weight to baby but as you move into the second trimester and get bigger, there will be more weight in the uterus pushing this vessel. It can make you feel dizzy (I always felt dizzy at scans for example). And also it can restrict blood flow to baby.

I wouldn't worry about sleeping on your back at the moment. You might find as you get bigger anyway that you naturally don't want to sleep on your back.

I didn't have a pillow last time but did get awful pain in my hips I think I will get one this time!! Or use spare pillows.

glastogal · 28/05/2017 07:03

I've just got a pillow, used it the past 3 nights and am successfully getting through the night on my side now!! I know it's not important until 16 weeks-ish but I wanted to get used to it before then Smile think it was about £25 from Amazon!

Which one did you go for glasto. I was recommended one from mothercare yesterday which is one of those really long curved ones. my friend said that if your tall (over 5'7) make sure you get the extra long ones so they can go around your body and between your legs. I will definetly have to get one of the long ones.

glastogal · 28/05/2017 07:40

Mine is like a long U shape.. it was this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00T9Q37P6/ref=cmswwrothhapip_bGdVCHQxdT6cF (although it was available with prime just a few days ago - weird)

Hi! Awake early as usual.
I will probably buy a breastfeeding pillow after the first scan. I can use it now for sleeping and then later for feeding. I read the company Theraline is making good ones without the filling being to noisy.
I haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, I will maybe order some of these trousers expanders? Belly belt or something like this. My mum offered to buy me some clothes, there is a supermarket offer where she lives. The shirts look quite alright and I'll ask her for two of them, but for trousers and bras I need to shop myself and try on. Work is casual smart normally, with a casual Friday, but I think I'll just extend the casual a little bit.... Can't be bothered to buy a huge amount of clothes. Or I might check on eBay and buy a maternity bundle for cheap. Lots of options, but I just don't see the need yet with my non existent belly!

Is anyone getting a seat belt adjuster for the car? It makes the part of the seat belt going further down, so during a harsh break the baby isn't crushed by the belt. I've not fully decided yet, need to read up on it a little bit.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 08:42

Thanks mama. I used a spare pillow last night and it helped a bit but I think one of those U shaped ones would be best to stop me from sliding onto my back either way. I also heard it helps to put a pillow between your knees when you're bigger so the u shape one I guess would help with that too. But I'll research some more.

That's good to know glasto. Thanks for sharing the link. I'll look into this.

Peachi I didn't know those seat belt extenders existed but I drive around a lot for work so that's a really good idea. I'll look into that too. If you have any links to share it would be appreciated. Thank you.

I managed to go back to sleep around half 5 ish until just now. So that's a relief!!

Peachi82 · 28/05/2017 08:56

Here is a link, bluebell:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00CI07QSO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1495957975&sr=8-1&keywords=besafe+pregnancy+belt

As I said I've not quite decided yet. Next time I am in the car I'll check where exactly my seatbelt is running and make sure I use the correct position. At the moment it's not as urgent anyway, because the womb is still behind the pubic bone and well protected.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 09:12

Thanks peachi Smile

ScotsLamb · 28/05/2017 09:24

Bluebell I've looked into this before as I read somewhere that sleeping position made no difference. This article shows a tiny increase (0.2%) in chance of stillbirth of lying on your back in the last trimester.
www.google.co.uk/amp/amp.livescience.com/56959-pregnancy-lying-back-stillbirth.html

Every article I've read talks about it being third trimester issues rather than first 2. Good idea to get practicing but as people have said you feel a bit crushed lying on your back in the 3rd trimester anyway. Much more comfortable on your side. So I've been told.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 09:27

Thanks Scots. That's super reassuring for a worrier like me! Thank you!

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 28/05/2017 09:40

@Mrsbluebell17 Good shout on the clothes - that's exactly what I've done. Long loose shirts and under the bump mat jeans / leggings. Quite discreet. Seraphine is amazing for jeans and shorts btw! Where I'm struggling is discreet clothes suitable for work-type meetings. My tummy's supersensitive too so can't stand any pressure on it.

@Peachi82 Thanks! Didn't know seatbelt adjusters existed!

I would go into a mat store to try the waistband extenders in person. I tried the one from JojoMB and didn't like it. Found it quite uncomfortable to have the zip open under those extenders. Also the extenders then cause my jeans / trousers to ride a little lower than usual (I usually wear mid-waist) which then does funny things to the bum area and makes it quite uncomfortable to walk in.

Peachi82 · 28/05/2017 10:25

Biker, thanks, good idea with trying it on. I haven't really thought about how comfy it might be, my only thought was, yeah, I can wear my clothes for longer!!

CarlottaJo · 28/05/2017 10:30

I haven't worn anything with a button waist for years. Team legging/jegging haha x

MotherofUnicorns · 28/05/2017 12:56

I think the sleeping thing is more about making sure you sleep on your left. There's a large vein that can get constricted if you lie on your right. I think it is only important in late second trimester onwards or whenever you have a sizeable bump.
I need to retrain myself to sleep on my left!

glastogal · 28/05/2017 14:03

We booked our gender scan this morning (eek!) Less than 3 weeks till we find out whether we're having a little Miss or Mr. Keeping the scan and the baby's sex a secret from out families but I'm actually looking forward to knowing (having initially been adamant I wanted to be team yellow!). Scan is on our 11th anniversary - 17/6 ♥️
