Congrats @MrsJW was thinking you had gone a bit quiet!

My boobs are so sore Sad but according to various specialists the latch looks good. Those 2nd+ timers I'm hoping it just gets better over time?!

teainbed · 27/05/2017 18:11

Sore nipples @Rockyroad17 or boobs? Google 'transient soreness' or look on Kellymom but I get that too. (Also had an allergic reaction to nipple cream, disposable breast pads and a bit of Raynauds thrown into the mix.)

Rockyroad17 · 27/05/2017 18:20

@tea it's both actually, not necessarily at the same time... my supply still doesn't seem to have sorted itself 3+ weeks later, I think this might be part of the reason my boobs get sore as they are so full.

Nipples sore just generally when feeding (at the beginning). Not helped by sharp little nails constantly getting in the way! Ouchee.

Thanks for the suggestions - will look at those now.

MrsJW15 · 27/05/2017 19:29

Thanks all, Miriam is feeding better but might be on antibiotics for a few days. We may need to stay until Monday or Tuesday.

I'm doing much better as well except for a very uncomfortable tummy. Suspect that's largely gas and the effects of the section. I'm taking lots of pain killers and regular lactulose to help try and get things moving.

FoxMulder · 27/05/2017 19:39

I am soooo knackered. Want to go to bed but need to give DS his bedtime cuddle yet

teainbed · 27/05/2017 20:48

And so the guilt begins! Feeding BabyTea very frequently, it was less hot today which is good but I was exhausted after last night and he wouldn't nap so fed him again and went to bed, DH had a bottle of expressed milk ready. He lasted an hour and 15 minutes before drinking the lot (just under 4oz) and conking out for nearly 3 hours. I know logically he's doing fine, putting weight on etc but it has just felt in recent days that I just can't fill him up.

uptown8617 · 27/05/2017 20:50

Congratulations to all the new mums!

Third and final unsuccessful sweep today at 41+3. Cervix still posterior and closed but baby is super low. Refused induction at 40+12 so will be monitored from Monday. I'm not planning on waiting it out forever but do want to give my body a chance to get there on it's own so just need to decide whether to go in for induction at 40+13 or +15 as that's the only availability at the moment. Confused

Badgerbird · 27/05/2017 20:59

Welcome Little Miss Savage!! Glad are are both safe, congratulations

Congratulations mrsjw! I wondered how you were getting on. Sorry it didn't go to plan but good that you're both safe :)

Badgerbird · 27/05/2017 21:00

How did you get on st hospital autumn?

RasperryInAMelon · 27/05/2017 21:56

@1004Rise I'm fully expecting these to be the last few days I'll be putting on makeup and doing anything with my hair. If this baby ever decides to show up...

@ClaireSunflower @EsmesBees @beachsands @FoxMulder @savagehk @MrsJW15 huge congratulations 💕

@Autumnsweater I agree with you re naps with DH - I sleep a million times better with him there and he's great for stroking my hair or back to help send me off to sleep 😊

@teainbed very grumpy here... it's too damn hot, bedroom temperature has been 27 minimum recently which is worrying me about when baby does finally arrive!

Good work on the DVD too!

I had my first attempted sweep this morning, baby seems back to back but not quite well enough engaged. MW could feel my cervix, but its posterior and closed... not filling me with hope for the next one on Tues but we'll see...

@uptown8617 or anyone else - if you get past 42 weeks is that generally a straight up no no to using MLU?

uptown8617 · 27/05/2017 22:35

@RasperryInAMelon, yes, I can go to the MLU up to 42 weeks and then after that it's labour ward (and a different hospital for me). It's one of the many reasons I'm not going for an induction at 41+5, gives my body an extra 48 hours to do what it's supposed to and get me in the MLU.

Autumnsweater · 27/05/2017 22:57

rasperry 😄 lovely way to fall asleep!
Uptown fingers crossed for you!

@Badgerbird

So BP persistently high today so have been admitted for further monitoring, given beta blockers to bring it down, and recommended induction tomorrow. Doctor was great at going through his reasoning and the pros and cons in a nice way.

Obviously not what I wanted but feel like it's the right thing to do, don't want to mess with hypertension complications.

Sweep cervix softened and 1cm dilated so fingers crossed prostaglandin gel alone will do it and can still be active etc.

KLane · 27/05/2017 23:02

@RasperryInAMelon At Lewisham it's a bit negotiable as long as everything is going well otherwise. Same trust as QE I think, so might be the same? You can get a few extra days approved which I was in the process of doing but baby boy showed up at 40+6. Raise it with your MW and ask about the process. At Lewisham I had to meet with the consultant midwife. It's unlikely that it will even come to that but it's nice to know that there's not the hard pressed deadline of 42 weeks if so. X

Jugoo28 · 28/05/2017 01:36

Hi ladies another big gap in posting. So many babies now! I'm 40+2 😭 wish this baby would just come out!

EsmesBees · 28/05/2017 06:34

tea please don't feel guilty, you need to sleep! It's been exceptionally hot over the last few days and he may be having a growth spurt. It may be the change in the weather that's made him appear more content rather than the bottle.

Rocky I had an apparently good latch and nipple pain last time and now exactly the same with this little one. I had forgotten how painful it was actually. The good news is that it doesn't last for long, and I bfed painlessly for 10m last time.

Fingers crossed for you that the pessary has kicked in overnight Autumn.

First night at home with baby Bees about a billion times easier than when we did it two years ago with dd1. But I still have the problem that I find it really hard to sleep in short bursts. And my mind was racing last night, not sure if it's the adrenaline after the birth or the hormones, but found it very hard to switch off, even though I'm exhausted.

CoxsOrangePippin · 28/05/2017 09:20

Hi all. LittlePippin arrived a week ago - birth was ok but recovery not so much! I'm on the mend now and we're at home.

Figuring out a rhythm for feeding - I am bfing and expressing a bit during the day so DH can do a night feed with a syringe and a finger.

CoxsOrangePippin · 28/05/2017 09:21

I haven't caught up on the thread so congratulations to everyone I've missed!

Autumnsweater · 28/05/2017 09:40

@coxsorangepippin congratulations!

Had a bit of a rubbish nights sleep on the ward - it was quiet and I had my sleep mask (god send!!) but it was just so hot.
Not actually had the prostaglandin gel yet - and haven't yet been given a time for this.

Still panicking about the whole thing tbh although just read some positive induction threads on Mumsnet which did help.

Tickyboovicki · 28/05/2017 09:58

barnes my other half is exactly the same! Although I do have to keep reminding myself to talk to him and ask for help, rather than assuming he knows what I want as I can be very particular!

Congrats on new arrivals! Love the constant baby updates at the minute 💕

tea I'm impressed your working out already! I'm desperate to get back to it, did you have any recommendations about when to start/ what to start with? And the guilt is all too real! But your doing an amazing job I'm sure 🙂 we all need to catch up on sleep at some points.

teainbed · 28/05/2017 10:34

Thank you @EsmesBees and @Tickyboovicki I know and would probably say the same to anyone else! I'm sure in a few days and weeks it won't be like this but it's so relentless!

Congratulations @CoxsOrangePippin ! Hope you continue to recover.

@Tickyboovicki it's not really working out but the DVD is Postnatal Rescue by Erin O'Brien. It's x3 15 minute 'progressions' that seem to be Pilates based. No cardio or impact just yet. You do the first one everyday and then when you feel confident with that one you move onto the next one. It's not technically difficult but I could really feel certain muscles burning and twitching again! Interestingly she says to treat this stage like rehab from an illness or operation and focuses on reteaching your muscles to fire properly presumably before going back to normal exercise. I think the core stability stuff will be really good for backs and tummy.

teainbed · 28/05/2017 10:42

Good luck @Autumnsweater glad you've read some positive stories. 2 out of 4 of my inductions were pretty easy and probably sound like the sort of birth you're hoping for. But any birth, whether it started off naturally or not has the potential to be tricky, even planned sections can have complications. Whichever way it happens you get to meet your baby at the end of it. And it feels huge just now but years down the line you may not even think about it once you've got masses of positive parenting experiences under your belt.

Badgerbird · 28/05/2017 10:58

Congratulations cox Smile Glad to hear you are on the mend.

Hoping all going well for you today autumn Flowers

peasandquiet · 28/05/2017 11:22

Any other 2nd timers had literally no visitors ? I'm so bored I'm going to bake a cake in a minute, see if that can entice a few round!!

Hope regardless which side of birth you all are your having good BH weekends xxx

stationaryace · 28/05/2017 12:29

@peasandquiet - my sister drove up (120 miles) when I was in labour on the Friday afternoon and helped my mum entertain dd1 for a bit (not that she needs it, my mum comes over twice a week anyway so knows the routine), as she had a wedding on the Sunday so limited time to squeeze in a visit. My dad and the in laws came over on the Saturday but since then we've been expected to go see DH's family if we want to see them/show off baby. And no one else has made a move to contact us, whereas last time I had a stream of visitors at my hospital bed for the first 3 days. I'm not complaining, it's just interesting to note the difference between first and second time. Sorry neglected second child Wink

ClaireSunflower · 28/05/2017 12:49

Is anyone else's family driving them crazy at the moment? I have a serious case of baby blues at the moment which I think isn't helped by the traumatic delivery I had.

My mother in law keeps skyping dh and keeps calling the baby 'her baby' and it is really setting my teeth on edge. I'm the one that grew him for 9 months. I'm the one that went through a gruelling 29 hour labour ending in him being physically ripped out of me. She could at least wait until my stitches heal until she tries to claim him as her own.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just finding everything so hard right now and feeling so inadequate as a mum Sad she is visiting on Wednesday and I'm going to have to resist the urge to punch her
