Fingers crossed this works, no idea how to make a thread but giving it my best shot. Let the May babies continue!

Thanks for the thank you ideas, I have some codes for photobox so will have a look to see what they have 😉

Hope the FUC are less fed up today 🍰

@Tickyboovicki I have the same issue sleeping in the day, I'm tired but not enough to sleep it seems. I can at least put her down to sleep so I've found just lying down in peace helps a little bit

We had a better night last night, she went down at about 11 and only woke up twice, she's getting much better at going in her cot. I'm expecting to pay for it tonight though!

@lullaby23 gorgeous pic 😁

I've ordered 2 slings to try from an online sling library... the closest sling meet to me only meets once a month and since I can't drive it's hard to get there so thought we'd try a couple first before I brave it and talk to other people (not that I'm antisocial honest 🤔😳)

Signed off from the midwives yesterday, was told that my wound was amazing (😳) and baby rise is doing really well. First HV visit today, at least they have times for appointments feels a bit less trapping!

teainbed · 24/05/2017 09:15

Of course @WishIWasSleeping I'll pm you.

Re the nights I think you just get used to them. Eventually you just learn to cope on a lot less sleep! But, having some really nice tea, coffee or cereal and breakfast stuff in, a shower and getting some fresh air and light in the mornings really helps. Catnaps even 20 minutes are good, practically speaking Its hard to 'nap when the baby naps' but any sleep you get banks up. Eat cake and chocolate but not so much that you feel more tired and sluggish!

I don't suppose it's much help but BabyTea at 5 and a half weeks slept a 4 hours and a 3.5 hour stretch last night and I could do that forever, as long as I get one longish block of sleep. So that isn't that far away for most of you although it does feel grim when you're in the middle of 2 hourly wake ups.

1004Rise · 24/05/2017 09:34

@teainbed can't believe baby tea is 5 1/2 weeks old already!! I think it does help having you ahead of us, proof that it gets better !!

@MrsJW15 Good Luck!

Morning ladies

Haven't been online for a while. Been a bit up and down emotionally but think it was a case of the baby blues rather than post-natal depression. Am keeping an eye on things, as had suffered depression after birth of dd, but am feeling better in myself now.

Mightymouse - I tend to use boots nappy cream (zinc and petroleum oil) for initial nappy rash and then metanium if the rash was more severe. Sudocream never seemed to work and preferred boots cream to bepanthen.

Dh goes back to work tomorrow morning so it's going to be interesting doing the nursery run to drop off dd on my own with baby nate in toe. Luckily dh will be on holiday for 2 weeks at the beginning of June, which will be nice as it's been lovely having him home during the day.

Hope you ladies are well and am looking forward to hearing some more baby arrival announcements!

EsmesBees · 24/05/2017 09:53

Another good tip for the nights is not to look at your phone/clock. It just makes it worse if you know it's only been an hour since the last time.

Glad you are back Jenny and feeling better. Good you are keeping an eye on things. It's such a emotional time.

Badgerbird · 24/05/2017 12:31

fox I didn't realise some creams not ok to use with cloth nappies. Which ones please? I bagged a bargain at humble sale, 20 brand new bum genius and liners for £5. Hope they work for her :)

Anyone use coconut oil for baby's bot? I would have thought that would be good as natural, moisturising, antimicrobial, antibacterial & antifungal. Haven't tried it myself yet.

mighty glad snip went well, hope it helps with latch.

jenny glad to hear you are keeping an eye on yourself and feeling a bit better Flowers

Loving all the How to deal with lack of sleep tips! So not looking forward to that Shock

peasandquiet · 24/05/2017 14:25

Baby Peas is here! For those of you not in the FB group. Had a very successful induction overnight and still managed to give birth in the water so I'm happy! A boy, 8lb 8oz and he's taken to breastfeeding which is a relief after the feeding ordeal I had with my first .

vanilla8 · 24/05/2017 14:43

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, celebrated with a sweep, KFC and packed DH off to work

So the sweep was ok, midwife said my cervix was already open and she felt the baby's head and could get her two fingers round for a good sweep. It was briefly uncomfortable but not painful. Bled straight away. Been for a walk on the high street and now relaxing on the sofa, keeping my fingers crossed the sweep will work.

Congrats @peasandquiet

Regarding nappy rash my friend swears by the yellow metanium and told me to get some in

Sending CakeFlowers to all the new mums coping and to the rest of us waiting

FoxMulder · 24/05/2017 15:17

Congratulations peas!!

Badger I think anything mineral based rather than plant based can clog up the fibres and not wash out so affects absorbancy. But this is just my vague recollection from 3 years ago and I only know for sure that Weleda one is ok! Sorry, not very helpful.

Autumnsweater · 24/05/2017 16:00

@peasandquiet congratulations!

@jennymac31 glad you're keeping an eye on yourself and feeling better. Assume there's no way your DH can't take DD to nursery before he goes to work?

Random question re nappy rash - are disposables or cloth more likely to cause it, or no difference? MiL swears cloth nappies cause nappy rash as had very different experiences between DH and his older brother (older brother ended up with perianal abscess😷).. assume cloth nappies were different back then anyway??

newbieho · 24/05/2017 16:23

Congratulations @peasandquiet on the arrival of the little one!

I have changed my mind and would like to join FB group. Whom do I need to PM?

MrsJW15 · 24/05/2017 16:32

After failed attempt to break my waters, I'm home with a pessary and mild contractions. Essentially we are now waiting for natural labour. Any advice on what to do (or not do) to get things going? I guess walking, ball etc?

peasandquiet · 24/05/2017 16:42

Ooh good luck Mrs JW, keep active is the one I think. Hope it picks up and you have a baby in your arms ASAP.

Newbie the lovely savage or rasberry will get you in if you send them your FB email address on a PM x

savagehk · 24/05/2017 16:42

Anecdotally cloth less likely to give nappy rash IMO, less chemicals. I know our first au pair was pleasantly surprised we didn't have any nappy rash issues and no need for creams.
Back in the day you needed to wet pail nappies and i don't think washing machines were as good.

savagehk · 24/05/2017 16:47

Mrsjw either try be active, or try to relax as much as possible and visualise your cervix opening. (Yeah i know). Or try get oxytocin going by getting your husband to stimulate your feel good side with anything except full on sex (massage, contact kissing, nipples) as that'd probably mess with the pessary.
Later on (once the thing isn't going to fall out!) try sitting on the loo with your knees wide apart for quite a while. Or watch something romantic and/or laugh out loud funny.

1004Rise · 24/05/2017 17:13

@peasandquiet congratulations!!

Had HV today, baby rise now 4kg so up and past her birth weight 😊

@Autumnsweater I've had similar anecdotal evidence from DM apparently I had terrible nappy rash (cloth) but my DB never had any (disposable) I however think it's more likely down to the fact that I have much more sensitive skin than DB 🤔

Good luck @MrsJW15 hopefully you won't be a member of the FUC for too long now!

@vanilla8 fingers crossed something will happen soon!

savagehk · 24/05/2017 17:24

Re nappy rash i think it can be related to (eg) milk intolerance as well which could make poos more acidic.

newbieho · 24/05/2017 17:42

Well done baby Rise 💪 @1004Rise

newbieho · 24/05/2017 18:23

@savagehk I have PM'ed you

teainbed · 24/05/2017 18:23

Congratulations @peasandquiet !

Good luck @MrsJW15

Badgerbird · 24/05/2017 19:13

Fantastic news peas! Great that you could have water bith and baby feeding well Smile

vanilla your anniversary day made me giggle :) hope you enjoyed and the sweep work's it's magic.

Well done baby rise!!

Oooh not too much longer then mrsjw! I think stepping sideways up and down stairs meant to be good to open pelvis? Good luck Wink

Thanks fox, makes sense and prob gonna try and use mostly natural/plant based stuff anyway..

RedBlu · 24/05/2017 20:06

Baby Red arrived this morning in a very traumatic fashion.

Had a sweep on Tuesday morning which got cramping going almost right away. By 5pm I was having bad contractions that were only one minute apart so we went to the MLBU. They sent me home as when they examined me I was only 1cm dialated and my cervix was posterior. I was told the contractions would get much worse and to come back when this happened.

Well, they did not get worse or more frequent so I stayed at home and was really struggling to cope. Long story short, she was born on our bathroom floor in the early hours with my partner delivering her.

It all happened so quickly that we are both in shock and it was a very scary.

mrspage1985 · 24/05/2017 20:19

OMG Red congratulations and I hope you, baby and daddy are all ok?
Congratulations Peas.

I've gone from wanting baby out to deciding he needs to stay till Sunday as I don't want to be in hospital ok this heat!!!!

FoxMulder · 24/05/2017 20:36

Bloody hell RedBlu! How scary and what a shock! Are you in hospital now?

teainbed · 24/05/2017 20:49

Wowsers and congratulations @RedBlu ! Hope you're ok now?
