I have the dreaded BV iv had it once before a couple years ago and I now think I have it again but I call the doctor and can't get a bloody appointment!!! Can they give you anything when your pregnant does anyone no?

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 19:54

What's BV?

user1489343787 · 25/04/2017 20:21

Bacteria infection DuRezidal increased discharge it's horrible I had it about 2 years ago but not when pregnant. Trying to Google if they can give u anything it just says it's common in pregnancy because the change in your bacteria.

lightgreenglass · 25/04/2017 21:57

I think they have antibiotics you can take when you're pregnant for BV. There's also creams you can buy at the pharmacy which are safe in pregnancy. I had it before I got pregnant - and was put on a course of antibiotics.

Are you sure it's BV? The doctor can do a swab to determine if it is. It could just be increased discharge or thrush? Do you have a smell down there too as that was my only symptom after sex.

I'm 12 weeks exactly according to my LMP and have my scan later today. I'm expecting the EDD to change following the scan as it changed by 12 days in my first pregnancy (I have long cycles which I guess throws things out a bit).

I'm feeling excited and nervous all rolled into one. It feels like 12 weeks has arrived so much more quickly than in my first pregnancy, from what friends have said about their second child, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole 9 months goes just as fast Smile

I hope everyone is feeling well x

Foggymist · 26/04/2017 12:15

I'm just over 10 weeks and my loosest pair of jeans are struggling, dammit. Didn't move to maternity jeans until 16+ weeks last time!

Kristen83 · 26/04/2017 12:36

@foggymist I am 10 weeks and feel exactly the same but this is my first, I am convinced that I am having twins (I am a twin myself) Agghhh!!

EdgarAllenPoe · 26/04/2017 12:40

I think I've introduced myself on a previous thread, but not quite sure so here goes:

I'm 31 and 10+5 pregnant with my 2nd child (2nd pregnancy). DS is 15 months and will be 22 months when this one arrives, due Nov 17th. First scan isn't for a couple of weeks. As with DS, I won't be finding out the sex, I quite like a nice surprise.

I am expecting (hoping) to have this one by planned c-section after a very long, drawn out failed induction with DS which ended in an emergency c-section. It wasn't particularly traumatic, but it was exhausting to recover from so I'd rather just have planned surgery and know what I'm in for. Plus I'm not a very good candidate for a VBAC. My midwife seemed pretty agreeable to this during my booking in appointment and having read up, I'm pretty sure I'm entitled to it anyway, regardless of medical history.

So far this pregnancy has been harder than my last one. I've had a few bouts of vomiting, mostly just a lot of all-day nausea and tiredness. I escaped morning sickness altogether with DS so it came as a shock! I am really enjoying potato waffles at the moment.

lydiangel83 · 26/04/2017 12:54

@Kristen83 @Foggymist ditto re tight jeans! And I'm only 9+4!!

I've had abdominal cramps last few days so managed to get an appt at EPU for Friday before we go on holiday on Monday. Really pleased I will get seen and hopefully peace of mind (fingers crossed!)

Will be my first ever scan so very excited / nervous - Friday cannot come soon enough!

Kristen83 · 26/04/2017 13:08

Has anyone got any reconmendations on Maternity Skinny Jeans? Heard that Topshop and H&M are good, style names would be great. Also do u have to size up or keep to your original size?
Thanks

Foggymist · 26/04/2017 13:12

I love the h&m ones, no idea of style name but they were very fitted skinnies. I got my regular size (12) and they lasted right til the end at 36 weeks and for weeks after! They're too stretched out now so I'm going to get more this weekend.

Rufus200 · 26/04/2017 15:26

I have a pair of seraphine jeans which despite being worn nearly everyday of Preg and mths later they are still in great condition. You are supposed to just buy your norm size but I had put on so much weight by 12wks I was a size bigger anyway and still that size now

Had my scan this afternoon but baby was too active to take any measurements Shock they've written up that I won't be offered another 1st trimester scan, and instead will be offered 2nd trimester screening. Wasn't very happy about this but the man doing the scan didn't understand what I was saying about it needing to be done before 13+6. His English was pretty poor and the whole experience was not very nice. He was already behind schedule and was clearly trying to make up time and didn't really make much effort in my opinion, as we were only in the room for about 10 mins and I'm sure they allow 30 mins per appt.
Phoned my midwife when I got home as I was sure about the NT screening needing to be done by13+6 and she agreed and is going to try and sort out tomorrow, as by the dates form my private scan, I am 13+1.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 26/04/2017 21:18

@skisunsnow we had a 5 min scan few weeks back. Found heartbeat v quick measurement dated about 10+5 not given due date or anything told to book NT scan. They couldn't fit me in. I had a call yesterday giving me one next week but I will be 14+1 going by the initial dating. We have no idea when we conceived.
It seems like getting a scan at the moment where I am is really hard.
I don't know if it will be too late for the tests but I've taken the appointment. Partly because my best friend is convinced im having twins, my scan photo from 10+5 has what is probably shading but she thinks it's a second sac behind the main one in the photo with the image of a second baby's head, body and arm. I can't stop looking at the photo so I'm going to get them to have a good look around. Can you see what I'm taking about in the bottom right of the pic?

Mummyagainmaybe · 26/04/2017 21:47

oddsocks it looks beyond the uterine wall to me but very much a lay person reading it.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 27/04/2017 00:06

Thanks @mummyagainmaybe I'm pretty sure you're right. I laughed it off at first but I think it's part of the terror/fun of pregnancy, that you really have no idea what's going on in there and imagine all sorts. It has definitely taken some of the fear out of the first trimester having something funny to think about

lydiangel83 · 27/04/2017 06:48

@Skisunsnow sorry to hear about your experience that doesn't sound good and I would be making a big fuss to be seen again.

Hope you get it sorted!

ZenMaster · 27/04/2017 08:05

Hi everyone, had our 12 week scan yesterday - all good, baby was snoozing but gave us a little wave and a yawn, it was mesmerising watching! They moved my EDD forward to 6th Nov. Also got NIPT results back, all clear and... it's a boy! DH is thrilled, already talking about building a tree house 😂

Skisunsnow · 27/04/2017 10:46

Well apparently my trust no longer offer a second appointment for 1st trimester NT screening if the first isn't successful. I've made a big deal of the fact that sonographer really didn't seem interested in getting the measurements, more interested in catching up with his schedule. I appreciate that they have 'targets' and other patients, but at the end of the day, this shouldn't jeopardise me as a patient and my baby,p. Maybe I'm just being over-sensitive about the whole thing but it has made me rally miserable and really doesn't seem right, and being my 3rd DC, it's nothing like I've experienced with the other 2. First hand experience of NHS cuts maybe, but that's another subject! Really hoping my midwife can sort something. It's seemed like forever waiting for yesterday to be so disappointed, with the prospect of having wait several more weeks for another scan to know whether it's all ok 😞.

putputput · 27/04/2017 11:05

Hello all,
I've finally plucked up the courage to join this thread. I am 11weeks pregnant, due 17th November. This will be our first child.
I've had 3 scans so far due to bleeding and previous miscarriage history. Baby is looking healthy and active and finally feeling a little less fearful.
This ride has not been smooth. I am massively struggling with nausea and vomiting and have been prescribed all the NHS can offer. Have had several hospital admissions due to this. I have had amazing support on the hyperemesis thread. I am so looking forward to being able to enjoy this pregnancy. So lovely to read all your stories, such a different journey for us all.

MsBranwen · 27/04/2017 19:52

Hello there @putputput, so glad to hear your baby is doing well and you're feeling less fearful, its such an anxious time. So sorry that your sickness has been so severe, that must be so horrible. Really hope you start feeling better soon. I'm 13+1 now and feeling less nauseous than I was before so really hope yours starts to ease off.

Mummyagainmaybe · 27/04/2017 21:21

Welcome @put put put glad you had healthy scans.

Good news from @zenmaster too

@skisunsnow sorry things didn't go smoothly with the scan. Hope your midwife can sort something x

Skisunsnow · 28/04/2017 08:03

I didn't get anywhere with the midwife or ultrasound department, no one got back to me yesterday after the initial call to say they'd look into it. Luckily, we have a private ultrasound centre nearby so I managed to get an appointment last night and had the dating/screening done, along with the blood test and am all sorted Smile. Measurements all fine and put me at 13+1, so due 01/11. Much happier and feel a lot more relaxed now. Shame I had to spend £150! 😬
The lady from NHS ultrasound (said she was not a sonographer herself but oversees all pregnancy ultrasounds) seemed really keen for me to make a complaint in writing about the situation. She emailed me a complaints leaflet and said it was important. I'm not one to complain, but what does everyone think? Should I, for the sake of future ladies? It's clearly become a problem that they don't have the staff/money to offer a satisfactory first scan on all occasions, or a second scan at all.
Anyway, I'm happy, good luck to all having scans soon 👍

Mummyagainmaybe · 28/04/2017 20:53

Definitely complain Ski. The nuchal scan can give a heads up to prepare even if it doesn't change the outcome.

lydiangel83 · 29/04/2017 08:09

Snap on due date @Skisunsnow and yes definitely complain for the sake of other women!
