@Mummyosborne1983 sorry if too prying but did you just take an over the counter cream for thrush? I think I have it but canesten says consult doctor/ midwife before use.

Any thoughts/ experience out there?!

lydiangel83 · 21/04/2017 20:57

@SeahorseBlue really sorry to hear that :(

Mummyosborne1983 · 21/04/2017 21:10

@lydiaangel - I called the gp and told them I was pregnant and had thrush and they did me a prescription without seeing me - saves having to pay the money for it seeing as we don't pay for prescriptions when pregnant.
There are two types - one that's an internal pessary tablet and external cream (this one they say don't use the applicator but to push up with a finger)
The other is internal and external cream - which I find better as you can apply it with your finger internally a bit without panicking you are going too far up!
Sorry for the graphic details - the picture is the one you want xx

SeahorseBlue @SeahorseBlue I'm sorry you are going through this but 1 in 5 chance does mean 80% chance your baby is normal, so fingers crossed for you. If you don't want to wait for the NHS further testing or your trust doesn't offer the SAFE test for free which is the NIFTY blood test rather then amniocentesis, can I suggest you have a private test. If you are anywhere near London, UDS is where I have my scans. They do the NIFTY blood test but also have 3 of the top foetal medicine specialists doing private scans. They are the ones that London NHS patients get sent to if they have an abnormal result. I had my scan yesterday with one of them. The prices are all on their website

Hi there everyone! I have been lurking on here since 5 weeks, & I am now 11+3. I didn't dare join due to previous miscarriage, & plus I couldn't quite believe it was true!
I'm an old mum, 40, trying for 3 years, was told I would never conceive naturally but became pregnant 1 week before I was due to start first cycle of IVF! Miracle baby! My due date is 8/11/17, I live in Gloucestershire and this is my 3rd baby but 1st with second husband. I've had a rough time with headaches, constipation, exhaustion & nausea but I am absolutely not complaining! Happy to be pregnant! I'm in process of Harmony test at London FMC, results & nuchal scan this Friday. Please can someone add me to the spreadsheet? I've tried but failed.

lydiangel83 · 22/04/2017 06:29

That's helpful thanks @Mummyosborne1983 :)

Welcome @Orchidcrazy and congrats!

TeaAndPjs · 22/04/2017 08:06

buzzmoon · 22/04/2017 08:19

Hi All!

I'm 10+1 so due 17th November but had a scan on good Friday and measured 10 days smaller so 8+6 and due 27th November. Will see what scan says on 9th May! Exciting! I'm 24 and this is my first!
lydia I'm also in Leighton Buzzard!! I have my badge already 🙈 do it! It's a god send, travelling is exhausting at the moment!

How's everyone's symptoms? Mine seem to be easing off, which is slightly worrying 🤔

SeahorseBlue · 22/04/2017 08:30

Rufus, thank you for your response and for the info. The NT result was really high, over 6.5mm, which alone apparently gives over 85% chance of chromosomal abnormality. Because of this we will be offered the nipt, not sure if that is the same thing as nifty? But we've got an appointment with Fetal Medicine next week for a more detailed scan, I'm guessing they will be looking for any other markers. All we can do is wait at this stage.

lightgreenglass · 22/04/2017 08:47

Trush sufferer here too. Used the combi mentioned above and near enough gone. Bloody life saver. Currently 11+1 and scan on May 3rd. Had a scan at 8+4 and all looked spot on. Having shabby pains at the moment - hopefully just things stretching out again. Can't wait for the 12 week mark - and hopefully so I can stop feeling so rough and eat my own body weight to fight off the nausea.

Some hospital already offer the Harmony/NIPT/NIFTY. They're all the same thing, worth checking before paying out for private testing.

lightgreenglass · 22/04/2017 09:01

Just to add I know they're not the exact same but they do the same thing if you know what I mean - non invasive prenatal testing.

Rufus200 · 22/04/2017 12:29

@SeahorseBlue my cousin's friend had an abnormal 12 wk scan a few wks ago. Not just an abnormal neck measurement but there was also fluid in the abdomen. A week later, fluid was all gone and further testing then came back normal. So try not to give up hope.

For those worried about dates and scans ect. With DD I thought I was 8 weeks got there and was told I was 5 it just depends how and when you ovulated. I also this time worked out with doctor I would be 8 weeks at scan and was told I was only 5 and come back in 10 days for another. Returned to be told I was 7+2. It all changes again at 12 week scan it's all on measurents remember! X

lydiangel83 · 22/04/2017 17:40

@buzzmoon that's exciting what a coincidence :-) is this your first?

DuRezidal · 23/04/2017 22:35

I finally have my booking in appointment tomorrow morning, when I will be 10w 5d. I don't have a first scan booked in yet so feeling quite disorganised.

PingusMistress · 24/04/2017 08:22

@DuRezidal they arranged my 12 week scan at the booking appointment. It was good because you had some say in the date and time! Then at my 12 week scan they arranged my 20 week one. Every area is different but it might be the same for you.

MsBranwen · 25/04/2017 08:36

Hope everyone is doing well. I had my 12 week scan last Friday and all seemed good, so feeling really relieved. Can't believe how like a baby the baby looks! Am due 1st Nov.

Feels like everyone is in quite different places emotionally at the moment, these early weeks are so unsettling with all their uncertainty, but I am really wishing you all well and hoping everything turns out okay for everyone.

Lovely scan msbranwen

NewShoesForDancing · 25/04/2017 13:36

Hi, this is my first, I am 9 weeks today, I dont have my scan for another few weeks, and rather anxious just now. I am 37 and have been trying for years - around 8 with lots of heartbreak in between. Never thought this would happen, fingers crossed though! Smile

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 17:39

I finally have a scan date of next Tuesday... but I will only be 11 weeks at that point. I did point this out but they seemed to think that was ok.

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 17:42

Well 11w 6d

AlaskanSnow · 25/04/2017 17:55

My scan was at 11+6 too, but they measured me at 12+3 whilst at it.

Skisunsnow · 25/04/2017 18:19

I've got mine tomorrow and if my dates are right, will be 12 + 5.
The NT scan can be anything from 11 to 13+6 so I understand so you'll be fine at 11+6.

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 18:43

I've opted for the combined one like I did with my last pregnancy but weirdly I can't really remember that one

SarahS17 · 25/04/2017 19:06

I have my scan on Thursday when I should be exactly 12 weeks and at the moment they have put me at 9th Nov but I think I ovulated late so I'm expecting a later one. This is my first be I'm very anxious, I ended up by a Doppler and found a heart beat on Saturday morning which reassured me but nothing since. I just can't wait for Thursday to come!! X
