Hi can I join please? I live in Purley, Surrey. This is my first baby and I am very nervous!! I have my 12 week scan next Thursday and my EDD is 09/11/2017.

I found out very early and have had some pains which meant I was sent for a 7 week scan by my doctor where they found a heartbeat which has put my mind at rest!!

SarahS17 · 18/04/2017 13:25

Also please can you add me to the spread sheet. First timer, Surrey, Yellow I guess for now and 09/11/2017. Thanks :-)

bexmwood88 · 18/04/2017 15:11

Sorry, I can't get the spreadsheet to work, please could someone add me too?

DD 10 Nov, Age 28, Yellow, Exeter, First Timer

Thank you! :)

NikaKaKa · 18/04/2017 15:22

@Rufus200 I've probably put on half a stone plus but I did start this pregnancy at about 10lbs less than my first one four years ago. I'm avoiding getting on the scales and feeling a bit fed up about food as I've gone from a very healthy diet with virtually no sugar to a much less healthy eating comforting foods that keep the nausea at bay.

I'm wearing trousers in the size above at the moment which I still had from before I lost weight but I suspect I'll have to shift to maternity trousers before long for comfort.

I'm soooo tired at the moment. I'm working from home today and I wish now I'd gone for a nap at lunchtime. I need to start making sure I'm in bed soon after 9pm. Any earlier would mean no evening after DS (3.5) goes to bed and we have dinner.

MaryThorne · 18/04/2017 15:49

I've got my scan next Wednesday. I'm amazed how quickly that it's come around this time. I remember my first pregnancy seeming to pass much more slowly! Smile

lydiangel83 · 18/04/2017 20:39

Is anyone doing any running / spinning / cardio? Midwife was totally against it but I was reasonable level of fitness before BFP And trying to maintain some element of fitness whilst shovelling in all the biscuits cake chocolate and crisps 23 hrs a day!!

I've read online it's fine to maintain some level of cardio but of course don't want to risk anything

Skisunsnow · 19/04/2017 00:23

I've still been spinning. Can't face running due to the nausea, so resorted to fast walking. I think the advice is you can carry on doing whatever you did before you were pregnant until you can't manage it. Except for HIIT, that's a no-no as raises your BP too much to be safe when pregnant.

PingusMistress · 19/04/2017 07:12

Hello and congrats to all the new joiners!

Is anyone else having their scan tomorrow? My scanxiety is building! I've found the heartbeat on a home Doppler but I'm an old bird so I'm a bit worried about the nuchal test results.

My weight went up at first, then down due to nausea. But yesterday I ate half a family sized box of biscuits during a boring meeting Blush

elio · 19/04/2017 07:38

Hello everyone, SarahS17, we have the same due date! I found I gained more to start with due to fluid and eating to stop feeling sick in the first tri, but once I stopped feeling so rough and could eat normally I started running and cycling again and it calmed down. I ran until 20 odd weeks and kept cycling till 37 last time. Just made me very slow and everything feels hard, not sure what I'm going to do this time with a toddler in tow.

I have the downs blood test today and then my scan on the 3rd of May.
Unfortunately we got given a high risk last time due to hormone levels (1:18) but dd is fine. So currently nervous and hopefully looking forward to an all clear and a healthy baby. Good luck to everyone else having their scans imminently x

SarahS17 · 19/04/2017 08:04

I was running and doing a lot of body pump classes before but I was unsure whether I could carry on especially with the body pump due to conflicting advice on the internet so I've been working out on the cross trainer and using weights. Do you know if you can? I am very nervous about my scan next week, I wanted to get one of the home Dopplers but again I've read different things, do you have any advice? One last question! I commute into London on the hellish southern rail, at what point do you think it is acceptable to start wearing a baby on board badge?

lydiangel83 · 19/04/2017 08:55

@SarahS17 I nearly passed out on train last week and I think I'm going to get a badge this week, been threatening it for a while! I'm only 8+3 but feel awful and it's so hard standing on busy train/ tube every day! So I'd say just do it and remember to take it off before work if you aren't too public yet!

Rufus200 · 19/04/2017 09:11

@PingusMistress I've got my scan tomorrow too. Will be 12+2

Think I've added everyone, let me know if I've missed you, trying not to be sick on the sofa at the moment.

Hi all it won't let me change my user name so stuck with this. Also won't let me open spread sheet...DD 26th Nov, im 23, yellow, surrey (ashtead) and I have a daughter 3 will be 4 dec.

To all those gaining weight I have gone from 11St too 12.10 the midwife wants to check for diabetes because I'm only 5ft2 but I did try to explain my boobs may have a big part to play in the weight iv gone from DD to a FF they are always the first sign of pregnancy for me but still a bit worried now has anyone had gestational diabetes before?

Rufus200 · 19/04/2017 10:17

Hi User1489, I've added you. I had GD last Preg, absolutely no symptoms at 26wks. Tested myself as I had bought a testing kit off Amazon early on. I was drinking 2 pints of water just in the night and getting up to pee at least 6 times at 12wks but didn't have GD then. My thirst went away when my nausea did. I knew 26wks was the point they norm test and sure enough 1hr after eating a normal dinner I had a BG of 8.5. Anything over 7 is not normal 1hr after eating. I found I absolutely could not have refined sugar or Chinese food, they sent my BG through the roof but I also couldn't have carbs. I managed it with diet alone. I was ok with porridge for breakfast, then no carbs for the entire rest of the day. I tried metformin, it caused me to hypo. I saw a specialist who told me off for cutting out carbs and that I needed them. I had lunch straight after and had 1 piece of bread and a few mouthfuls of risotto and started to feel very unwell. I had a BG of 15! So I went back to my no carbs rule. Took quite a while for my GD to go after DS was out but I just ate what I wanted then and didn't care. I'm eating loads of choc and sugar at the moment and not testing. I know I'm going to get it again and no carbs for over 12wks sucked big time.

Sarahs17 I don't know about the classes, I have a really good book on exercise in pregnancy which I will go and find the name of for you. There's a few abdominal things you need to avoid as it can make muscle separation worse. I normally climb but had to stop because my pelvis became unstable. The bump wasn't a problem running for quite some time (boobs more of a problem!) But I got to the point where I kept urgently needing the loo and downhills were uncomfortable so I stopped. I found it all very frustrating as sport is such a big part of my life and it took about a year for me to feel normal again. Felt lots better after stopping bfing after a year too. As to a doppler, we have one from last the but I wouldn't expect to be able to find anything reliabily for some time. If you are just curious and not going to worry if you can't find anything then it won't do any harm, but if you think not being able to find anything will worry you I would hold off. Personally not going to get mine out until I at least know there's something in there to look for. (Partially because it's in the garage somewhere and it going to take a massive effort to find it!)

Awful cover photo, but useful book!

This website is really good and there is a PDF document all about excercise:
www.mum-hood.com/assets/pdfs/mumhood-resources-pregnancy-exercise-guidelines.pdf

I think the premise is if you have done it before then keep going but only do 70%, I do Hiit Classes but I am just starting to adapt it so its not such high intensity.

PingusMistress · 19/04/2017 14:00

@elio that photo is hilarious!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 19/04/2017 15:13

Got my 12 week scan date through for the 15th May. I have no idea how I'm going to manage to wait this long and I only just saw my little peanut on Sunday!

I can really see how people get hooked on having scans

Foggymist · 19/04/2017 16:11

NiceCuppa we've a FREE follow up scan tomorrow, free! Grin

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 19/04/2017 16:14

Ohhhh @Foggymist you Jammy Git Grin

Foggymist · 19/04/2017 16:18

Lol :) It's because the last 7 week appt was "so early" they invited us back for this one, which will be at 9ish weeks. I was expecting an internal scan because their website says 6-8 weeks it's done that way, I did say I was 7 weeks when booking so not sure why this faff. It's a 2.5hr round trip with toddler so inconvenient but, yknow, free!

user1492458803 · 19/04/2017 16:22

I'm hopefully due 21/11 with no.2. Have lost weight due to food aversion and BMI has dropped to 18 so being referred to consultant. I'd possibly have been consultant led anyway as no.1 was prem.

Have seen MW twice but am yet to get scan date or consultant appt, would appreciate if they'd hurry up so I can sort childcare!

There is a FB secret group if anyone wants to join. Some people only post on that because they find it easier to answer people's questions directly.
